short horror

There following you always you stay alive because your smart, it's cold this time of year you wrap your cote around yourself tighter feeling your bag straps dig into your back, the green of your cote stands out in the grey that is the city not that I matters they don't need their eyes.

The ally way is dark all the buildings here are empty, so are most of the buildings in this block picked meticulously clean by you and the many who came before well at least the remains of them you remember the stench. It almost feels like your violating their bodies but they have what you need and they don't need it, you pull down the bandanna covering your nose and mouth you can always smell them before you see them you walk slowly and carefully to the entrance of the ally way you look left and right the sun is going down it's not safe outside at night, but it's not safe inside either.

You reach unconsciously for the pistol holstered at your waste, and the knives strapped to your chest and shin just to be safe, it's not only the monsters you have to watch out for.

Satisfied that for now, the coast is clear you run across the street stopping to crouch behind the wrecks of cars and debris, you look around checking again as you reach the not safety of the shadows on the other side it's even colder in the shadows your breath comes out in puffs of white, you look around twice more to be safe then crouch down taking of your bag you let out an involuntary sigh of relief.

The most recent food is at the top that's, to say the least, mouldy food you reach into the bag and take out a piece of bread, it's stale but better than nothing fruit was hard to come by and even if you could you didn't know if it was safe to eat. So, you survived by scavenging off the Carron remains of the old world. You lived in how many humans were left you didn't know you didn't care so long as you could survive that's all you needed to do, stubbornly cling on to life then you smell it the stench you shove the food back in your bag and hoist the bag on your back, and jump up onto the fire escape and try to with a mix of speed and stealth you make onto the top of the building, as you reach the top of the building you here that noise they make the strange wet slopping noises you shiver and don't look over the lip of the building then you here a woman scream, and the strange gurgling howl of the skinless ones the scrape of their thirty-centimetre talons on the pavement.

You don't want to look but you can't help it there were five of them, the deformed gelatinous skinned humanoids with their gaping maws that extended to their stomachs one of them got the woman as she tried to run the things arms were long to long sliced the back of her leg she fell she twisted a gun in her hand she fired one, two, three times the reports echo through the city, they make you flinch the she is lifted up screaming blood pumping from the bloody stump of her wrist the leader skinless one with one swift movement disembowelled her, and pulled her in feeding on her insides the others gathered around and cut slices out of her body shoving them into their bodies.

You sit back feeling sick was this your destiny? to live and die in this city, being smart and surviving until you weren't until you ended up like that woman she had a gun it didn't do her much good she had been alive for just as long as you. It didn't help her so why were you here surviving like a rat feeding off what remind? you had always been in the city the remains of what once was always. Seemed comforting and foreboding in equal measure, but what scared you more the unknown, what was outside the city? you had always lived in the city you didn't know there could be more of them the skinless ones more humans of fight over food but you decided that it didn't matter, if you were going to leave the city leave tonight you were going to just be a nameless corpse left rotting in the city to be picked over on you were going to live and die outside this bleak slab of grey everyone dies you just where choosing where.

A night together

Fern padded slowly through the snow, making his way down the familiar winding way down to June's house, sometimes Fern wished he had June's long legs dissipate being rugged up his paws were already soaked and his stomach fur was wet and getting wetter, Fern had a dark orange pelt with small dark stripes on his back his paws and stomach was darker still almost a brown as were the tips of his ears and unusually for a dog of his size he had small tufts of fur that stuck out on his cheeks, Fern looked up at the sky, it was getting dark, he was going to be late and he did not want to miss this.

June was pacing at the front door looking up every time he passed the door his pelt was almost gold a bright yellow very opposed to his personality, which was much more mellow he was quiet but always optimistic an introvert, but always seemed to come out of his shell around Fern who is most cases was the polar opposite, the excited puppy witch June would look after watching sometimes from a distance with this trademark quiet smile sometimes wishing that he had the same amount of energy.

'Calm down June' Ivor said, he was a husky with bright blue eyes and a thick black and white pelt, the black was more prominent, 'you know he will be here' eventually he muttered under his breath.

'You would think that you two hardly see each other' Rusty said, he was named after his pelt witch was a rusty red with light brown eyes, he had large pointy ears, and a long muzzle with something like a sneer on it 'i know for a fact that you two-'

Miles's tapped Rusty playfully on the nose with his bushy tail, 'now just because they like to read together does not mean anything, lay off him.'

June smiled gratefully at Miles he nodded, Miles was the only one in the group that was taller than June he had long dirty brown with his ears almost hidden by his fur, his green eyes were bright in contrast to his dark fur.

Then there came a knock at the door June almost jumped out of his skin, then was bowled over by a blur of dark orange.

'Fern' June said overjoyed, 'you're here.'

'Of Course, I am you gigantic ofe' Fern said nuzzling him, he had a high voice but he slightly Greek accent made it somehow deeper, 'you think I wasn't going to come?'

June managed to wriggle out from under Fern and stood as did Fern, June was a full head taller than Fern June looked down at Fern and Fern looked up at June he had a playful glint in his eyes his short tail wagging. They both had brown eyes June's were just a shade darker, June felt a rush of excitement and moved forward it was almost a jerking motion he just wanted to so badly, but then the playful glint in Fern's eye dulled a little and he looked away June felt a little sad then chastised himself.

How could you forget idiot just because you feel that you have been friends since you were pups blurry able to walk what if you ruined their friendship, what if it made it complicated June suddenly felt sad he had kept this inside for a long time a very long time.

Fern looked away he felt awful but he didn't want June to get dragged into anything, they could be good friends that's all and as much as he denied it to himself he did love June, he did but he didn't want to hurt him and what would his parents think.

They both heard snickering coming from Ivor and Rusty.

'How about we start this sleepover with some games' Miles said, loudly looking pointedly and Ivor and Rusty.

They stated with scrabble, a game witch Fern struggled with immensely due to inability to concentrate for long periods of time, usually June would be there to help but after the incident June had withdrawn himself laying down his front paws stretched out and the blazing fire that was Fern seemed to have dulled a little.

Rusty looked on he knew how they both felt he also knew about Ferns parents he knew that Ferns parents would never allow it, and their romance was doomed to fail Ivor knew it too.

Miles looked over and his heart ached wanted to see them together they were just meant for each other, but every time June got close Fern would push him away, it wasn't his fault it was how he had been raised but they needed to realize on their own, and Ivor and Rusty were not helping usually they were fine they both know to but today they were just snickering to themselves.

After the game of scrabble Ivor suggested that a move would distract everyone at this he looked pointedly at June, Miles and Rusty went off to get snacks when they returned Miles looked over at June still had not moved he would just look forlornly and Fern sometimes and Fern would look over at June, annoyingly they never seemed to do it at the same time Miles nudged June.

'Can you help me get the sleeping mats?'

June looked up at Miles 'sure' he said, getting up and shaking himself

June helped miles drag the sleeping mats from the laundry cupboard into the lounge room Fern, Rusty and Ivor helped get the food out and when they were all set up they all choose their spots June lay down on the outside, while everyone else chose to sit close to the T.V. miles was very close to putting on a romcom but in the end, he decided a vote would work best, and in the end, he put on pan-pacific rim Fern seemed to have regained some of his energy, he could not keep still and would not stop commentating June watched the Fern the little ball of energy from afar quietly smiling to himself, Fern got very excited in the fight scenes.

'Yea you got em, go for a left hook yes that's got him.'

Then fern looked over across the darkened room his face I lit up by an explosion Fern looked at June with a small smile of his face June, smiled back lifting his head up slightly his ears pricking up fern cocked his head to the side slightly, and June put his head back in his paws fern sat up and dragged his sleeping mat over to were June was sitting, he placed his mat next to him and sat down next to June they were not touching but they were about a close as you could get.

Ivor and Rusty were too absorbed in the movie to see the two of them moving closer together, it helped that the movie had a very explosive finale, but with Junes calming aura Fern calmed a little, he stopped commenting consistently after the move Miles wished everyone a good night and curled up as did everyone else.

'Good night June, Fern mumbled curling up he was tempted to move closer, so they were touching but he decided not to.

'Nighty night' June said but he didn't curl up he couldn't that sad look in Fern's eyes he didn't want to see that again so carefully he got up, he snuck into his bedroom and then turned on the fairy lights, he had strung up all around the room they glowed dully fern sat in the middle of his room letting the memories fill him. They had known each other for so long he sat in his room contemplating, he wanted to tell Fern but same doubts filled his mind the same ones that always did he closed his eyes, and when he opened them he was filled with determination, he strode out of his room his confidence waning the closer he got to Ferns sleeping mat until he was just standing there he was shaking all over then he bit the bullet he nudged Fern gently he sired and mumbled, June took a step back this was a mistake, what was he thinking there was just no way.

Fern opened his eyes he saw June standing there looking apprehensive, Fern stood up slowly to was still dark outside.

'What's going on?' Fern yawned.

June just turned and nodded towards Fern walking off towards his, room Fern perplexed stretched and followed June into his room he had the fairy lights on, and he was just sitting in the middle of his room, his eyes downcast.

Fern walked over to June and muzzled June's chest looking up into his eyes.

June didn't speak so Fern did 'that's the first time-'

'Fern' June interrupted, 'there's something I want to no I need to say.'

They both didn't speak then at the same time they spoke, 'I love you.'

June almost collapsed onto Fern, he was so relieved than he actually did collapse with Fern under him, June had gone limp he was so relieved.

'I'm sorry' June said, 'I should have said to sooner.'

'Me too' Fern whispered, 'could you please stop Cushing me now?"

June hurriedly got to his feet.

And they both stood there looking into each other's eyes June moved forward and this time Fern didn't pull back, June rested his head on top of Fern's they both blushed, and Fern moved closer than they nuzzled each other and that night they slept together, June's bright yellow curled up around Ferns small dark orange form the fairy lights twinkled above.

Christmas at home (What could have been)

Serafin turned off the ignition and got out of the car, it was small and compact with a nice white paint job Serafin's ruby red scales almost glowed in the twilight, her dark hair glistened she closed the car door flexing her hands they were stiff from gripping the steering wheel for so long. She walked around to the passenger door opened it and leaned in grabbing what was inside, she turned closing the door with her tail, in her hands, she held a present wrapped in bright white covered in little Christmas tree drawings, her bright purple eyes twinkled and she walked up the long winding dirt driveway put to the house it was a small house on a small street it was old, very old smoke rose from the chimney as Serafin approached she smelled the familiar things that made this place home. She reached to the front door and considered knocking but then she decided to just open the front door tucking the box under one arm, the old wooden floorboards creaked welcomely under her feet and did very little to mask her arrival or the clatter of her claws.

'Serafin?' came Farren's voice from the kitchen 'that you?'

'It's me' she called back.

Serafin felt a rush of pure joy as Farren came rushing out of the small kitchen, and wrapped Serafin up in a hug almost crushing the present between them.

'I thought you weren't coming' he said, into Serafin's chest.

Serafin rested her bottom jaw on the top of Farren's head his soft dark brown hair, and embraced him back 'you know I would not miss this for the world, right?'

They stood there for a second just hugging, Farren let Serafin go and looked up at her his brilliant blue eyes met Serafin's purple ones her gently stroked her muzzle Serafin obliged she bent down slightly and kissed Farren gently on the lips they shared in the moment before breaking apart.

Serafin breathed in, 'what are you cooking?' she asked, 'it smells amazing.'

'Oh, just a bit of this a bit of that' Farren said smiling.

'That's ok' Serafin said, 'I did bring you this.' she said, giving Farren the slightly crumpled box.

'Aw' Farren look so happy as he received the gift, 'Serafin you didn't-'

'Yes, I did' Serafin said fiercely, ''tis the giving season and I have missed too many Christmases as it is.'

'Alright' Farren said, 'I'll put this under the tree just wait in the kitchen.'

Serafin nodded and walked down the short hallway past the living-dining room where the fireplace was burning, the bedroom, bathroom and into the small but big enough kitchen, something was bubbling on the stove and there was a loaf of sourdough sitting on a breadboard with a knife next to it. She walked over to the pot forgetting about the pans and kitchen utensils suspended from the ceiling, Serafin's horns hit two of the pan's producing a defining clash one the pans fell clattering to the ground Serafin cursed.

'Watch the pan's' came Farren's teasing voice from the dining lounge room.

'Fuck you' Serafin said, good-naturedly picking up the fallen pan and hanging it up 'and your pans that give the house a rustic feel.'

'What?' Farren said coming into the kitchen, 'they do, I mean look at them it's nice and covenant.'

'Right' Serafin said, 'well my horn's have something to say about that.'

'Aw poor Serafin, would you like me to kiss it better?'

'Well maybe not my horns' Serafin said coyly, 'but there may be something else you can kiss to make me feel better.'

'Well, then you'll have to wait its dinner time.'

'It's bad manners to keep a lady waiting' Serafin huffed, putting her hands on her hips.

As Farren strode by to grab to pot off the stove he gave Serafin a quick peck on the cheek, pacifying her for now then he picked up the pot and put it in the sink, then he took out two bowls he grabbed a ladle from the suspended hooks winking at Serafin as he did so.

She murmured something about rustic feeling but could not suppress a smile, once Farren had finished ladling out thick creamy soup into each bowl, Serafin set the table for two putting the wooden board with the sourdough in the middle with the knife, Farren cut out two slices each and they both sat at the small round and ate in a comfortable silence Serafin's tail gently winding around Farren's leg, they didn't exactly need to speak to be communicating they were linked soul bonded they needed only to feel to communicate. And when they had both finished eating Farren collected the dishes and washed them while Serafin put the soup into containers, then help Farren dry and put away the dishes then they just hugged for a while standing in the kitchen.

'You know there is a much more comfortable place than this?' Farren inquired.

In response Serafin hoisted Farren up and carried him bridal style to the couch by the fire and flopped down on the old comfortable couch Farren on top of her they lay there curled up together. Farren's back pressed into Serafin's chest there hands intertwined, they both signed and fire danced merrily bathing them both in its warm glow it had been a long time, too long since Serafin had been home they just lay there absorbing each other basking in their shared love for each other, and kissing occasionally slowly gently their lips joining and breaking apart enjoying the time together and slowly ever so slowly Farren fell asleep Serafin wound her tail around them both, she watched as the fire burned low she snuggled into Farren and watched as time slowly passed on the clock mounted in the mantel place, it was intricate metalwork very finely made she watched as it ticked over to twelve.

Serafin gently kissed Farren on the forehead 'merry Christmas Farren.'

DJ cheesy

Dj cheesy was a knight he had a horse he wore chainmail and plate armour he had a sword he was also made out of cheese, blue cheese he rode around the known world he slew beasts and saved villages, but he had never been asked to slay a dragon before he did not know much about the Beast except that they were big, very big, and could fly and breath fire the flying was not a problem he had a bow and arrow that was enchanted to pierce thick hides and he was very good at fighting things that were bigger than him, but fire breath, he as seen the results enter villages reduced to ash he would need to use his brain if wanted to get out of this one alive, the question was how they knew where the dragon lived it didn't exactly try to hide itself it lived is a cave in a valley next to a lake.

Its choice of living space would be its downfall.

A few days later he was ready he rode his horse to the top of the valley dismounted and made his way slowly towards the cave, his sword drawn a low growl emanated from the cave.

'Why have you come here?' the dragon asked as it stepped slowly out of its cave, it had mud brown scales and four massive legs, it's long tail moving erratically it was massive at least thirty meters tall and ten high, it's massive jaws snapped closed and it's large green eyes focus on Dj cheesy.

'Leave now or I will devour you whole' it said, looking down at Dj cheesy.

Dj cheesy readied his sword, this one was a male he made sure he was near the lake, 'i cannot allow you to continue you have taken too many lives already he proclaimed.'

'So be it' the dragon said suddenly springing forward its front talons outstretched DJ cheesy rolled under the talons.

'Why would you do this?' DJ cheesy asked the dragon, slashing at its foreleg.

'It makes me feel good' the dragon said, trying to crush DJ cheesy.

'Hold on' DJ cheesy said rolling to avoid the dragon's hind legs, 'but why.'

The dragon spread its massive wings and took off soaring into the sky because, 'my dad never loved me' the dragon roared, 'i tried so hard but I was never good enough.'

DJ cheesy stopped he knew exactly how the dragon felt he stopped and looked up at the dragon as it descended towards him, he felt a rush of adrenaline that had nothing to do with battle the dragon collided with DJ cheesy pinning him beneath one tallon, its head reared up its jaws opened ready to breath out a burst of flame.

DJ cheesy spoke quietly, 'you don't need your dad to love you if you have me.'

The dragon stopped and closed its jaws, and it released DJ cheesy and he saw tears in the dragon's eyes

'that- that's what the last one said.'

The dragon fell onto its side sobbing, DJ cheesy raised his sword up he looked directly into the dragon's eyes and he threw it away.

'I'm not like the last one,' he said he took his helmet off and walked over to the dragon and kissed him on the lower jaw, the dragon gently this time picked up DJ cheesy and held him close to his chest.

'I'm booby by the way' the dragon said.

'I'm DJ cheesy' DJ cheesy said.

A month later they were married they held the ceremony on the top of a hill on top of a marble plinth, at sunrise, and as the sun began to rise they said their vows there were not many in attendance, DJ cheesy was a man-shaped sentence piece of blue cheese so not many relatives there, in fact, none at all the dragon had one friend a dinosaur it was a Spinosaurus.

'Speak now or forever hold your peace, the priest said.

The Spinosaurus charged up to the plinth it shoved DJ cheesy to the side and kissed Booby on the lips, Booby green eyes filled with rage he ripped out the Spinosaurus's throat and opened its jaws and bathing its head in fire melting it, Booby shoved the corps of the plinth and sat on his haunches then picked up DJ cheesy.

'Now were where we?' he asked the priest.

The priest was a little shocked but continued nevertheless, Booby said I do.

'You may now kiss the dragon' the priest said.

And that is exactly what DJ cheesy did, their lips met they both felt the rush of exhilaration they broke apart.

'Now let's find somewhere to calibrate' Booby said smiling slyly.

The conversation

The dragon picks you up, holding between its thumb and forefinger you try to struggle but it's no use that dragon is twenty-five meters tall and you were trying to steal its dinner, it's grey scales seem to emanate warmth and yet you feel very cold and afraid many mistakes had led you to be here first, you were hungry thought you could not exactly help that second, being the lowest of the low in society didn't help either. You didn't own a house you didn't have a job the best you could hope for was some mouldy bread if someone was feeling kind, or a knight who decided he wanted a new squire so when you saw the deer carcass just lying there in a very large cave you decide to go and eat some of it, but as you bend down and pull out your shiv to cut a hunk of meat out of the deerskin and all, a shadow falls over you. too big to be a man you turn slowly you drop the shiv you try to run you don't get far the dragon hunkers down and now you are here literally a play-thing in the hand of the dragon, it's almost luminous green eyes seem to just be studying you as it stands and rases you to eye level you in return look it up and down it's tall, with grey scales, it had two legs, with four toes, two arms and large jaws, dark hair, large ram-like horn coming out from behind the pointy cat-like ears and those eyes they seemed to just shine with intelligence.

Then it spoke its voice was soft but powerful and seemed to resonate throughout the ages, 'so you're either very brave or very stupid.'

You don't respond you just start trembling.

'Well, I suppose the question is what to do with you.'

At this you find your voice through it seems small and weak compared to the dragons, 'you, you d-don't have to kill me.'

At this, the dragon smiled and you see its teeth, you pail this is it you think to yourself it's over now.

Then the dragons sit down crossing its legs wrapping its tail around them and it puts you on the ground, your legs don't seem to want to walk you stagger ford a few steps with the dragon looming behind you, then the deer drops in front of you along with your shiv you stagger back in surprise and fall over you look up at that dragon it looks down at you impassively.

'Eat' it says.

You don't move is it some kind of trick? You think to yourself, what is it doing?

The dragon sighed, 'I know for a fact I'm not speaking another language so let me make this clear, you as a human to even consider coming into a dragon's cave must be very desperate and yes usually I would just have eaten you but I don't know my sentimentality is getting to me, so eat and don't come back here or I will eat you got it.'

You nod and pick up the shiv and begin to cut into the deer, but the meat was already cooked you look up at the dragon confused.

'Magic' the dragon said, 'also witch village do you well, maybe not live but exist in?'

You point out of the cave and say, 'it's southwest from here.'

'I'll make a note not to burn it down.'

You assume that dragon was making a joke and eat your fill, once you have you leave.

'Remember' the dragon said, 'I will eat you next time don't make me regret this.'

You nod and head towards the village through the forest you don't find anything else to eat and then it begins to rain, fat heavy droplets fall from the sky you are spared from the worst by the canopy of trees, you're not going to make back to village and you don't want to be walking in the cold dark rain so you find a hollow in a tree and curl up inside. It's cold your cloths are thin the wind goes straight through them, but at least this hollow provides some protection. You curl up and try to sleep with the rain and the wind and the cracking of branches, when you awake you feel pain where the tree dug into your back and you're leg just hurts you crawl out of the hollow blinking in the sudden sunlight, you look around the air smells of damp earth you can hear birds chirping and the droplets of water that still cling to the bright green leaves, you begin to walk back to the village your feet crunching on wet dead leaves and bark from the taller trees you stop drinking at a small lake the meal from yesterday already seeming so long ago.

He had journeyed for a long time across countries and continents, it was time for revenge he had used his hate it had kept him strong and had sustained him finally now it was time, he was so close he could smell the dragon its sent ligers in the forest and also on another man who had been to the cave.

You turn you think you saw something there in your periphery you stop turning, but there is nothing there, so you turn and he's there almost nose to nose you jump back your heart pounding.

'God's' you yell 'who the hell are you?'

'I' the man said 'am Tim' i have come to slay a dragon you do a double-take the man is not joking he is young with stubble and long but well-groomed hair, his eyes are a dark brown and her is wearing chain mail and plate armour and he had a very old battered book.

'Would you be willing to assist me?' The man asked.

You are about to kindly thank the man and wish him good luck and a quick death but then he produces a leather pouch filled with coins, he holds it out and you snatch it greedily and look inside it's full of gold coins enough to buy a house and servants and food, food every day you think longingly.

'What do I have to do?' you ask, thinking about what the dragon said.

The man shrugged, 'get him out of his cave, and distract him until I'm ready.'

'Him?' you ask

'The dragon' the man says, 'so are you in?'

You think for a second, 'yes I'm in.'

'I'll lead the way' the man says and you don't argue he seems to be a lot better at navigating the forest, then you are and you are near the cave you can see dragon's tail, you pick up a branch the man smiles as if to say That's not going to protect you but sure.

Then he gestures for you to distract the dragon, you breathe in deep wondering briefly if this is a horrible mistake and step out.

'Hello there' you say.

The dragon pokes its head out of the cave, looking confused he adjusted his sitting position, so he was facing you.

'So, you came back? even after I told you that I would eat you?'

'I did' you say, trying to keep your voice level.

'Welp bottoms up I suppose' he says reaching out for you but then he stops, he hesitates and then he withdraws his hand. 'There's something about you' the dragon says, he narrowed his eyes and 'I have no idea what it is' another pause 'but, you can put the branch down now.'

Suddenly you remember why you are here.

You open your mouth to warn the dragon and the dragon seeing the look on your face raises an arm to protect himself, but red bolt of energy hits him he cries out in pain falling back, and the man his armour shining in the sun walks out he holds the book open out in front of him. For a split second, you are racked with indecision, then you charge with the stick at the man the dragon cries out again as a web of red energy surrounds him, you swing the stick had hard as you can into the side of the man's head.

The man can fell the dragons pain he feels a fierce joy at the pain he is coursing the dragon, this is for my family you son of a bitch he felt pure joy revenge is sweet, and then something hit him hard the spell was broken no, no, no fuck you the man thought NO.

You sand over the man victorious, holding you branch 'not so useless now is it?' you say.

The man slowly starts to stand you swing the branch again, this time he catches it he gets to his feet and wrenches the branch out of your grip, The side of his face that you hit was bleeding, but not badly and it's bruised and an armoured fist impacts the side of your face you see stars you fall back and you can taste blood you fall desperately trying to get to your feet and get away from the man at the same time.

'If I don't get to kill the dragon you will have to do for now,' the man said sounding quite deranged.

Then the dragon's foot descended crushing the man.

'Well, he was unpleasant' the dragon lifted his foot up 'well, at least he's dead now'

Then the dragon looks down at you, your heart rate increases to a whole new level of shit scared you slowly stand awaiting judgment.

'I think you may have just saved my life; I'll take you back to your village' the dragon says.

Then you remember the coins the man gave you; you take out the pouch 'do you want-'

The dragon waved his hand 'no you keep it have a good life and spend it well' he bends down and picks you up 'I'm going to move now I doubt we will see each other again.'

'Ok' you nod.

The dragon walks you to the outskirts of your village in silence, then once you have reached the edge the dragon puts you down.

'Well this is goodbye' the dragon says.

'Indeed, it is' you say but for some reason you feel just a twinge of regret as the dragon stands up, and turns to leave, waving goodbye.

'You could stop by if you wanted to,' you blurt out the dragon turns slightly.

'well maybe, we will see' then he turns, spreads his wings and takes off.

Charles

Charles lived in an apartment it was small but comfortable it had two rooms, a bedroom with bathroom, and a combined kitchen, lounge, dining room in that area there was a small island bench and mounted on the wall was a stove and an over as well as three sets of cupboards, he walked over to the sink and washed the blood off his hands. Then he went and sat on the chair it had been a long day there had been a lot more screaming then he had expected then he felt a shudder, he looked into the corner the dark corner it was always dark it didn't matter what time of day it was, or where he put lights it was always dark in that corner, he waited patiently for it he watched the dark corner and then it came, it came out slowly at first unfolding with I wet sloping and a sickening crack of bones it began to coalesce.

First, the bones assembled then the muscles, flesh and finally skin, it was tall two and a half meters muscles rippled under its dark dirty skin its veins bulged, its arms were long to long and hands were too large, the fingers too long, and the head A ram's skull with a flickering flame inside it the dark mist or smoke clung to it took a step forward its four toe-claws making a clattering noise.

Charles dropped to his knees, 'my master I beseech thee is it time?'

The creature's voice was low it seemed it emanate from the walls themselves, the fire inside its skull burned brighter at every syllable.

'No not yet my child, it is almost time there remain only a few, then you come with me and join in the endless slaughter.'
