#1 of Cat and Dog

Had to reupload this work because I goofed and put the wrong picture for the cover of it. Anyways, I wrote this one on a whim. I'm really sorry I haven't continued my other works, but I've kinda hit a hard writer's block for those. I hope you'll forgive me, and I hope you'll enjoy this story instead.

"Wake Up Call-ico"

~

"C'mon.."

"...."

"Are you still mad?"

"Hmmph!"

The retriever sighed and sat back next to his calico companion. It was a few minutes of silence before he got an idea, a mischievous smile on his face before leaning over.

"I think I know how to make you feel better~"

"Don't you dare", Avery growled, curling up more under the covers.

"Ooooh, I think I will dare", he said as he slowly reached over.

"I mean it, Mark, don't."

Mark almost giggled as he placed his hand on Avery's rump.

".... No.."

"Yes~"

"No!"

"Yup!"

Before Avery could protest anymore, Mark began to scritch.

Scritch Scritch

"Mark, stop it."

Scritch, scritch, scritch

"Mark Stop!"

It didn't take more than a few minutes until the calico started reacting to the scritching on his rump, slowly raising it under the covers.

"Ooooohh~ I can see you're cheering up already~"

"Ngh..! Mark, stoooopp..!" Avery tried his best not to laugh as he fought his own body, only egging him on.

"C'mooonn, I can hear you purring from here~ Hell, you're even presenting yourself for me."

Avery whined, "Stupid--You know I can't help it when you do that..!"

"And why is that, kitten?"

"Ugh, don't 'Kitten' me."

He pouts, still scritching.

"You know what you did, and I'm not gonna let you get away with it.."

"But it wasn't my fault, kitten.."

Only a few days prior, Mark had forgotten that Avery wanted him to meet his parents. So, in his ignorant whim, he stopped by the bar and came home drunk. Unbeknownst to him in his drunken stupor, Avery's parents were in the dining room of their house. Mark was halfway into introductions before stumbling into the trashcan, making an absolute fool of himself, and embarrassing Avery in front of his parents.

"Of course it was your fault, you forgot we were meeting my parents!"

"... In my defense, you did only tell me once when telling me about your day. I just got so distracted in listening to you talk that it just slip--"

"Don't think flattery's gonna get you out of this, Mister!"

"But I'm telling the truth! Honest!" He said in an exasperated tone, feigning innocence as he placed his free hand on his chest.

"I'd never lie to my little kitten.."

"..."

"Avery?"

"...what..?"

"If it's any consolation, I thought your parents were wonderful. A bit unorthodox to have two pairs of twins as parents, but who am I to judge?"

"...."

He stares at the grumpy lump under the covers.

"Avery..?"

He can barely hear a familiar sound of snickering.

"Is that a smile I hear~?"

"..Hhsshut up and make me breakfast. And I want pancakes today", the cat said in between giggles.

"*Gasp* Making me do all the work? How demanding."

"And eggs.."

Mark smiles and leans over to kiss Avery's head, just between the ears.

"Yes, kitten. Anything else?"

"Hot Coco. Two cups. It's cold today and I don't want you getting sick.."

"Love you too."
