A lonely German Sheperd walks into a bar and meets the love of his life...

It was a cool spring day in March of 1969, blue - grey Altostratus clouds littered the sky as soft clumps of hard packed snow

covered the cracked, faded streets of Greenwich village, New York. I slowly trotted down the crumbling sideways of the dull, bleak city

on my way to nowhere and any where that would have me: my paws patted the rough concrete of the inner city being dragged

behind by my limp, sagging body.

I finally reached my destination, a bar sandwiched between two adjacent buildings constructed of brick and mortar at the foundation

and concrete as the floors ascend. I swiftly pitter-pattered my way up to the solid wooden oak double doors, pulled the heavy wood stained door

open and made my way inside. Inside the air was foul, smelled of alcohol and Three Dog Night's "One" was playing on the jukebox

but this was better than standing out in the cold.

I walked around the right corner coming into the lobby of the "Stonewall Inn" as I came to a standstill just over the thresh-hold into the bar's

lobby I saw people sitting at the bar having drinks, standing around, laughing, talking and genuinely having a good time. I stepped toward the bar and

got the attention of the bartender and sighed "Bourbon, on the rocks" before taking a seat at on a bar stool and putting my muzzle in my

paws.

The tender' brings me my bourbon then walks away I stare at the glass before me; its brown thickness makes me sick but it reminds me of

home. I lift the glass in my large gaping paw to my muzzle and gingerly take a sip; I cough, hack and carry on my eyes watering intensely everyone

in the bar just glances at me not really taking notice.

Suddenly 'she' storms in, eyes a blur, tears streaming down 'her' face she races up to the bar snaps at the bartender and softly 'her' voice

cracks "T-The u-usual" 'she' blubbered through heavy sniffles and sat down on a bar stool the bartender soon brought 'her' a glass of whiskey

and 'she' gulped it down without even a hesitation 'she' then slammed the glass back down on the wooden counter sniffled and sighed .

I watched 'her' worriedly 'she' was a thin, scruffy averagely built young man I'd say no older than eighteen years of age way too young to be

drinking that's for sure. The young man looked around nervously before returning to his drink, I felt pity for the young man the "Stonewall Inn"

wasn't exactly the best place for a young person to be especially for someone his age.

I was no better at twenty-two the worst part was that it was my birthday that day and I was spending it in a bar, I left my so called "home"

at six o'clock that morning with only one-hundred dollars in my pocket and a head full of steam. You see my kind (Anthropomorphic animals)

aren't welcome in New York or literally anywhere for that matter the world just seems to hate us for some awful reason and my 'brothers/sisters'

and I can't go anywhere without being yelled or shot at.

I return to staring intently at the young man watching him with curiosity, he suddenly jumps to his feet his long blonde hair cascading

down his back almost touching his ass his baby blue shirt hugs his body snuggly his blue jeans cling to every muscle on his legs

his noodle-y twig like arms fall to his sides as he hurriedly makes his way over to the dance floor.

Once the young man makes it over to the dace floor he starts dancing as if his life depends on it! His arms shoot up into the air as

his hips start to sway it's almost hypnotizing the way he moves his body to the beat. I guess he screwed up a move or something because

as I watch him, he stumbles, trips then starts to fall; as he starts to rapidly descend toward the floor however I jump up from the stool I was

sitting on and faster than a lightening bolt I run toward him.

Once I reach the young man I extend my arms and 'take a knee' the young man then lands like a rag doll in my paws, blinking the young man

looks around wildly, then looks up at my very concerned frowning muzzle. "What the fu- Hey! put me down!" he shouts with utter rage

in his voice "I was only trying to help" I say bluntly the young man just grunted "Ugh! Well I am a strong independent woman who can take

care of herself, thank you very much!" and proceeds stands up as if nothing happened.

"Sorry, Princess" I scoffed, before returning to the bar. The young er... person followed, once there they tapped on my shoulder

"Um, Excuse me!" they shout. "What!" I growl turning around my hulking G-Shep frame simply towering over them their eyes widen

as they start to back away slowly with a fear I had never seen up until that moment.

I put my paw on their shoulder to both steady them and keep them from moving. "You tapped on my shoulder now what do you want!"

I huff annoyed "H-How dare you speak the way you just spoke to me to a woman!" the young man yells at me. "Look, Lady I'm sorry" I

say sarcastically "Maybe if you wouldn't have been such a bitch about it I wouldn't have called you princess, OK" "Fair enough" the 'lady'

replied.

"Hey!" the 'lady' calls out "I know your type? Anthro? right?" 'she' asks "Yep" I answer 'she' looked me up and down "Impressive"

'she' states finally. "What the hell are you talking about?" I sigh. "Your musculature is very impressive" 'she' smiles obviously interested in

my body.

"Look lady not interested" I reply "I never said you were" 'she' states firmly. I had to hand it to her there I never said I was interested

in her. I stop for a brief moment and look around me before turning back to the 'young lady' in front of me and thought for a second.

"Well since your here can I buy you a drink?" I ask hoping 'she'd' say no. 'She' paused for a minute as if in thought then goes "Sure"

then adds "Why the hell not."

I walk over to the bar and ask the bartender for two drinks. 'She' and I both sit in silence sipping our drinks until 'she' suddenly pipes up.

"Thank you for saving me back there" before 'she' said those words I was bringing my stein of beer to my lips. After 'she' said those words

I thought for a moment then picked up my stein of beer to bring it to my muzzle. I stop halfway and look at my full stein wide eyed.

"I-um" I stutter. I bump her left arm with my right elbow and say "Anything for such a lovely lady" 'she' blushes and smiles

"Uh, thank you" "Anytime" I smirk, then go back to my beer...
