"Everybody ready?"

"Remember, stick with the plan. Don't mess this one up."

"Roger."

The doorbell rang loudly inside the white building. John's ears perked up and he quickly dashed to greet the guest. Upon opening the door, he was greeted by another young man in his early twenties. The same young man with his unique silver colored hair and eyes. He currently wore a white dress shirt with beige pants and black shoes.

"Hey, John," Louis smiled. "You're doing anything today?"

"Fraid not," the arctic lupine sighed. "Ter's not home, Kendric's not available, and I'm left to baby-sit my brother."

"Sorry to hear that."

"I'm used to it. So what brings you here?"

"Well I was wondering if we could just hang out for a while."

"That's fine. If you don't mind an extra company."

"Not as much as you mind another one."

"What do you mean?"

Louis stepped aside a little and let the small boy behind him walk closer. The blue-eyed boy wore a green shirt and black shorts that bears the Polo logo.

"Hi Mr. Styler," Alex chimed.

"Well good morning to you too," John smiled and rubbed the child's black hair. He peered towards the silver haired police officer and chuckled. "I see you're babysitting as well."

"Yes," Louis nodded. "And I thought that the four of us could just eat out together and have a movie or something."

"Yeah! That sounds great!" John wagged his tail. "Let me get changed for a moment. Make yourselves at home."

A few moments later, John returned to the living room, wearing a gray hoodie and gym pants. Chris was following him, not so far behind wearing a red T-shirt with a brand logo stretching across his chest. His black pants and sneakers had the same logo on the side, Jersey.

"Aren't you hot in that thing?" Louis cocked an eyebrow. "It IS Summer time. And you have a pretty thick coat of fur under there."

"Not at all," the lupine smiled. "Besides, I need the hood."

"Why need a hood when you can use one of your illusion magic? You've used it before."

"But that doesn't mean I like it. I only use them for formal parties. Besides, last time I remember, you also use your other form when you went to that wedding near Valentine's Day."

"That was one time," Louis retorted. "And remember that I was still injured back then."

"Then why didn't you let me heal you?"

"Didn't wanna bother you."

"But you could have and went there as a human."

"Even as a human, I still would be drenched in that punch."

"But you're lucky you got dumped by a fruit punch and didn't smell like a wet dog. If it's water, it'll stick to you like..." John stopped talking and eyed everyone in the room. The three other men are staring at him, waiting for the completed sentence.

"Like...?" Louis repeated.

"Like uh... Peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Yeah!"

"Oh really..." The young man giggled.

"What?" John's cheek fur turned pink.

"It's nothing, really," Louis chuckled. "Now come on kids. Let's go and get something to eat and watch." The silver cop and two kids walked away from the red lupine.

"Hey! I wasn't finished with you!" John yelled at him. "Wait up!"

The four of them stepped out of the front door and walked towards the gate.

"The guard dogs have left the building. Coast is clear."

"Alright people, begin phase two immediately."

"Yes, sir!"

"Oh wait!" John said close to the gate. "I forgot my wallet. Be right back."

"Shit! Red alert! Red alert! The dog's going back in!"

"Quick! Evasive maneuvers!"

The white lupine opened the front door and walked up the stairs. In the bedroom, he grabbed the brown leather wallet and stuffed it in the hoodie. He went down the stairs and stopped for a moment, sniffing in the air.

'Something doesn't smell right...' John thought to himself. He scanned the room and found nothing out of hand. He quickly shrugged it off and walked towards the waiting men.

"Sorry about that," he smiled as he pulled down his hoodie. "Shall we go?"

The four of them walked and chatted as they went towards an ice cream parlor. The two young kids ordered their single vanilla scoop while the lupines took a double cookies and cream. They sat down on a table and started to eat their sweet treats.

"You know, it's kinda funny when you think about it," John started a new conversation.

"What do you mean?" Louis looked at the arctic wolf's heterochromic eyes.

"When you think about it, the both of us are light colored wolves with vulpine kids following us everywhere we go."

"Oh yeah! But he and I aren't blood related, remember?"

"So are we! And our partners are lions as well."

"It's amazing that we have a lot of things in common. Do you think it's just a coincidence?"

"I don't believe coincidence, Timberwolf. The only thing I believe in is fate."

"Then fate can become scary sometimes."

"Yeah... it is."

The lupine sighed softly and eyed the two young children to his right. He chuckled slightly by the sight of the two kids with white cream messing up their face.

"You two are so much alike," he smiled as he wiped Chris' mouth with a napkin. "I wouldn't be surprised if you two could actually be thought as brothers."

"Come here, you," Louis mimicked the lupine's actions to his young apprentice.

"Sir! The dogs are on the move again! This time to the main theater."

"Then we don't have much time! We need to finish this before they return!"

"Yes sir!"

"Hey, do you feel like you're being watched by someone?" John asked curiously.

"Not really. Why?" Louis peered behind him before returning to the canine.

"It's nothing. It's just that I feel like I'm being watched."

"Hmm..."

"Let's just forget about it. It's gonna ruin our mood anyways."

"Boy, you sound joyful today. No wonder the big guy likes to call you that."

"Well," John blushed. "If you must know, there is one more reason for that."

"What is it?"

"It's..."

The wolf stopped talking and stared silently at his almost finished ice cream, facing his hidden past once more. His thought was interrupted by a cold chill on his right thigh. He yipped slightly before staring at the spot. Chris, apparently, accidentally dropped the remains of his scoop to the lupine's pants.

"Sorry big bro," he apologized.

"Don't sweat it, kiddo," John rubbed the kid's black hair before taking a napkin and cleaned the fabric as best as he can.

"Great. Now I can smell vanilla the rest of the day," John chuckled.

"Hope the stain won't stay," Louis stared.

"Me too. Let's get the rest of our day finished."

The small group got up and went to the theaters. They picked an action comedy movie and bought their tickets, popcorns, and refreshments.

"First, the ice cream and now this," Louis smiled. "We're going to get fatter if we keep this up."

"At least it's once in a while, right?" John smiled back. "When's the last time you had this much fun?"

"To be honest, I think it was before my parents' murder."

"Sorry..." the wolf's ears and tail drooped beneath the clothing.

"It's fine. At least I can still cherish the moment in my heart."

"..."

"Oh! It's starting!"

The four of them watched the movie silently. Once in a while, a hilarious act appeared, causing the audience to roar in laughter as well. But as the film moves on, John and Louis can't stop staring at each other silently without one noticing the other. Both thinking the same thoughts:

'He's just like another me. We both have a loved one of the same feline species and the same non-blood related vulpine that lives in our home. Both of our parents are gone when we're still young and others always treated us differently.'

They both tried to come up with their own reasons but end it with another similar thought:

'This is a weird fate between worlds...'

They both sighed silently and resumed watching the movie. However, the canine's fun was interrupted when his right eye began to throb in pain once more. He grunted silently and held the changing eye. Soon, after the pain has subsided, his eye color has changed once more into the same green color of his left. He panted lightly before resuming the movie.

"Eye changing again?" Louis whispered.

"Yeah. No worries," John answered silently.

They stared at each other's eyes for a moment before averting their gaze towards the screen once more.

'That's probably another part of our differences,' they thought to themselves. Not long afterwards, the movie had ended and the small group exited the red brick building.

"Where to next?" Louis asked. The wolf gave this thought a second before answering.

"Two places before we head to the manor," he smiled as he lifted two paw fingers.

"And where that might be?"

"One, the park where they could play," he pointed at the young kids. "The second place, I'll tell you later."

"Fine. Let's go," Louis smiled.

"Sir! The color has changed and they've decided to return after two places."

"Quickly! We don't have much time!"

"Are you sure you don't feel anything?" John asked once more.

"Not really," Louis responded.

"I could've sworn someone was watching us this whole time."

"Probably because of your clothes. You ARE wearing two layers of clothing with the addition of thick fur in summer."

"I hope so..."

The two young adults sat down on the wooden bench and stared across the path where the children played. Swings rocking back and forth, seesaws moving up and down, and sand castles being built. The sound of joyful children echoed in the summer air.

"So how goes it with you and Selena?" John asked.

"We're doing pretty great," Louis smiled. "She took the necklace."

"How do you know that?"

"These past few months, I've finally made contact with her. I guess she's fine about seeing my other form."

"That's great!"

"I'm very delighted about it now. Usually we talk about our daily stuff and her boyfriend."

"Oh really?"

"Yeah. What's more surprising is that she plans on getting married with him after college and have kids."

"Really?"

"Serious! She already gave me an invitation."

"Even though they don't know when they'll get married? Boy, talk about chasing a wild dream."

"But at least she's happy now. I can see the joy on her face."

Louis smiled as he closed his eyes. The look on the female was filled with laughter and happiness. It calmed the stormy mind of the young police. John stared at the silver haired man and smiled before asking a question.

"You like her, don't you?"

"Of course. She's like an older sister to me."

"No. I mean, do you 'like' her?"

The young man jumped slightly before he stared back to the lupine.

"You keep going on and on about her. Her looks, traits, and even her life. You even tried to imagine her face, right?"

Louis blushed slightly before breaking eye contact.

"Admit it. You like her, right?"

Louis gave a heavy sigh before answering.

"I dunno how many times I have to say this, but she's like a sister to me. She was the first person who became friends with me after I'd moved. She never treated me differently or any of that. Just because of my appearance, I've had bad experiences with others, but she helped me conquer that bit by bit. Gave me the strength and courage to make the me today."

"Until she moved away."

"Yeah... I guess she's the only family I cared after the incident."

"Even if you're not blood or name related?"

"Right..."

"What about Lionel and your aunt?"

"At that time, Ly also picked on me because of my hair. But after Selena's departure and our mid school graduation, he became more sensitive about me and slowly changed his attitude towards me. My aunt was caring, but I never want to let her see my depressed side. That's why we rarely talked."

"What I still don't get is that you've lost your parents when you were 15. Don't you need any adult figures in your life?"

"Actually, I have them."

"Really? Who?"

Louis smiled at the canine and chuckled.

"Do you really need to know, old man?"

"Curiosity got the best of me, mortal," John chuckled back. Louis shook his head and stared at the blue sky.

"Sorry, no can do."

"Hey!! Come on!"

The two kids ran back to the two adults, panting for air.

"Did you guys have a good time?" John asked.

"Sure did!" Chris replied.

"Great. Let's stop by one more place before we leave for home."

"Ok. Where to?" Louis asked.
