The next night came and the Fox moved forward through the deserted streets. He had gotten a notice the night before that he was going to get off work early. The Cat hadn't learned about this, and he decided to surprise her. He began to climb the wall leading to her window when he smelled something. Lust...sex...another male. He froze and just hung on the wall. Slowly he climbed up and looked inside. The cat was throwing away a used condom and looking really happy. She turned away from the window, which she had left open, and began to hum to herself. He silently climbed into the room and sat on the desk just watching her, feeling his heart crack. She had found another? He knew they had allowed for an open ended relationship, but they had always told the other about any new partners, and normally shared them. He was saddened but not heartbroken. She turned around and the smile vanished from her face and she stood stock still. She knew what he would smell and she knew she was caught. She didn't bother asking why he was here or anything. She just sat down on the bed and looked at him calmly.
He sighed. "So you found someone new I see..."
She nodded. "Yes I did."
He stood up and looked at her. "So...now what?"
She looked him directly in the eye and said "I have decided not to play with you anymore. No more intimacy. Lets just be friends."
His heart shattered into a million pieces and turned to dust. He stood up his eyes filled with pain. And he said, "That isn't possible. Enjoy your new found friends." He turned, climbed out the window and dropped into the darkness. He was gone, and she was left alone. She never heard from him again, never saw him again, and never talked to him again. He lived his life from then on a cold and hard man. She had been the one for him, and she had hurt him. He knew now that she was not the one he had thought, and all that remained. Was a bitter, twisted, dead heart and soul. His only real purpose now, was to try and find one. She killed him inside and she never even tried to find him to make it better.
