A poem about action and consequence. Named for the Maryland DNR of Clopper Lake and its surrounding areas, which are as beautiful as they are mysterious.

Clopper Lake

Memories which are often made

with our friends for the day;

at least in the shade,

where we all try to lay.

Can you blame us now -

as they had each tried?

We made plans to camp in Fall,

so that we may also hide.

It was very clear then,

but must seem silly now;

our home was the fen -

our youth ask not how.

It is these dark places,

where our hands reach for stars;

we put them on our faces,

in defiance of Mars.

Burned into a shape,

right against the Mill;

there they'll find the tape,

that leads to our hill.
