Helix

Sitting over the city scape, this bustling city seems to be fairly quiet. The dim city lights reflecting off the old withering concrete from year of traveling feet, and cars, haloing the mammoth towers that would loom over the cream yellow glow of this dystopia; My dystopia. This smoking city destroying itself with needless fights, meaningless relationships and destructive leaders and angry parasitic leaches: People who call themselves furs, humans... Hosts of this beautiful, green and blue skied planet, I cant believe this world has lost the way of life.. My face is clawed by nature's icy paw, each tree around me blowing off its summer leaves, lazily tossing them onto the woodlands green floor. Many would expect a child of the world would tend to be off put by such a city. But unlike my family, this.... Concrete Jail.... Is something I view as needed for the normal furs. Not all were raised in nature, in a pack, in a full family of many numbers. The starry night was dimmed out from the light pollution from the city, but the brightest of stars still shined past the never dulling hue. The fire I sat in front me churned as flames spread upwards. And the smoke rose above the tree line, the flames illuminating the bare trees.

"Angel, angel, what have I done? I've faced the quakes, the wind, the fire I've conquered country, crown, and throne Why can't I cross this river?"

I sung out into the empty, sleeping world, just a soft echo running back to my canine ears. Though I am a young wolf, I have seen many years as I have roamed the world. Helix: Forest Heir. My body stands roughly six foot, two inches. My whole coat of fur being pitch black as the night sky I called my friend. My eyes had a very light yellow hint to the iris. Growing up I always was told that my eyes were a canines dream. Seeing eras, though remaining the same, kindness and compassion all fused into heat and anger. I believed I was roughly 24 years old, though I always held myself higher than most of my siblings, and pack members. Though many, many, many, nights ago did I lose my pack to a very harsh storm. Ice and hail raining down over woods, sized of a human's fist. I remember watching my family die, in front of me. Slams to the head, wolfs attacking other wolfs in fear of the end times.

Pay no mind to the battles you've won It'll take a lot more than rage and muscle Open your heart and hands, my son Or you'll never make it over the river

I sung remembering my mother's soft touch coming down across my head. Her soft blue eyes radiating love past the black furred muzzle. The love she had for this life, for me, for my father.... At the time of the fights and storm, when my mother was killed by a strike to the head, my father, scared, barked orders. Though instead of heeding the warning, and working together, they all attacked him... The strong, muscular male was taken down by four others. Blood just flowed from his torn, ripped, flesh as the others laughed; only to be beaten by the ice balls falling from the heavens.

"Braved the forests, braved the stone It'll take a lot more than words and guns Braved the icy winds and fire A whole lot more than riches and muscle Braved and beat them on my own The hands of the many must join as one And together we'll cross the river"

Watching the final embers wave their final flame, I laid back and closed my eyes, focusing my energy in order to sleep.

Storm

"Yeah, Hayden." I spoke into my phone.

"Okay, I will be home after my walk, im just outside city limits, so I should be back in a...~an hour: Im gonna call you back." I spoke trailing off as I noticed a seminude black wolf laying on the ground. "Yeah that's not normal." I spoke out loud and ran over to see if the male was okay. As I approached he didn't move an inch, his stomach still, though his black coat shining brilliantly in the sunny morning. "Hey? Are you okay?" I spoke shaking the males shoulder a little bit.

Nothing

"Yo, if you're dead, please let me know..." I spoke a little louder tapping the bottom of the wolfs muzzle.

Nothing

"Well, okay then." I spoke and noticed a little sack beside what looked like a fire pit. "Wonder if you have an ID or anything..." I pondered and reached down to the leather sack.

"HEY!" A black mass growled, tackling me to the ground. The canines muscles easily over powering even my built frame, as those white fangs snapping an inch from my muzzle. "The hell are you doing!" The canine growled. His claws dug into my wrists causing me to squirm under the male.

"Fuck man! I thought you were dead, I was looking for an ID." I yipped out, yelling at the male, flinching for an attack. "I fucking swear. Please!" I whimpered.

"Look at me! Eyes wide!" He barked.

As I looked up at his light yellow eyes, tears formed in my afraid for my life. And all he did was huff after a few seconds, and let me go. "Fuck.." I panted not sure how to react.

"Sorry, not many furs have a ego as you do.. I can trust you for now." He said looking over his shoulder, still skeptical of my presence.

"Hey man, trust me, I am nowhere near a threat." I spoke trying to regain myself. "Unless you come after my mate, then I will kill you!" I spoke up, looking over at the now sitting male. Relaxed, at least as much as he was at that time, he didn't seem that big and scary. Before I could question to much more, his somewhat high tenor voice filled my ears.

"Im, Helix. You can say im a little new to the area. I travel a lot." He motioned, a sigh coming from his muzzle as he stared at the burnt piece of land from what I could guess was his warmth from the nights coldness.

"Nice to, er, meet you, Helix." I nodded. "Im, Storm." ...... "So what are you doing out here? Any friends or family?"

"I don't know where here even is... Dead" The canine spoke coldly.

"Oh..." my ears pinned back. "So are mine. Tho they died in a car accident one night." My mouth spoke as the perked up ears slowly fell back on my head, a slight whimper forming deep in my chest.

"I watched my mom get killed, and a pack of wolves murdered my father when I was ten." Helix spoke looking up to the skies." He growled and ran a paw over his face. "I cant even kill them for what they did to him. Because nature took them too " He spoke. "Imagine all the people living for today. Nothing to kill or die for." He spoke. "Just Imagine." He looked over at me, his yellow eyes seemed frosted over with some type of sadness, tho he didn't shed one tear.

"Hey, wanna get some good food in your system, maybe take a shower?" I asked the male.

"If you're asking me to fuck, I rather not." The wolf said coldly. He scoffed and stood up grabbing his things..

"No! I mean your cute, but you also smell like you haven't token a shower in a few weeks." I chuckled following suit. "Plus I figured if your just living out here you would want some time of decent food. Ill buy!" I spoke up, my ears flipping back to their normal posture.

"I guess I could take that offer." A soft nod from the wolf was all I got. His muzzle stayed as concrete poured frown.

"Follow me then, Helix! We got a little walk, but we will be there in no time!" I said as a smile formed on my face. Turning my back to the young wolf and begin to lead the fur back though the bustling city.

The walk was pretty nice. The wolf wouldn't say much at all, instead he would hum some music to himself. These harmonies flowing easily from his mind, though he mustn't have much time with a instrument, or even a album. Has he? Looking over at the tall black wolf made me question more about the male. He was something else, honestly. His aura would scare any adult away, tho he has this very young and energetic vibe to him. Maybe once he gets use to me, he will open up?

"How can you stand living here." The wolf spoke as we entered city limits. The furs running down the street would stop for a moment, staring at the seminude wolf. Some furs making an audible gag as they walked past the musky wolf, mothers would move their kids inside random stores; fathers would hold their wife close to them, showing even more distrusting nature.

"Well, My 4 friends make it worthwhile. Honestly that's the only thing." I chuckled turning down the main street heading towards the other side of the city. "Plus as a musician, most people know me as a drummer." I chuckled luckily finding a band poster on a bars window from the last club show we did." Here she is! As Above at The Rave!" I smiled proudly.

"Ah, another warrior then?" He spoke chuckling.

"I could fight, but im not a fan of it." I spoke shaking my head, and sticking my tongue past my lips a little bit. "Its not worth the blood in my opinion." I spoke as we rounded the road to my home. Though sitting in the upper 40's it was that cold out as we walked up the long drive way to my nice home, which was dug away to give me peace away from the city.

"Time is money and money's time We wasted every second dime On politicians, fancy water and guns and plastic surgery Like old Prince and Brady's mom All the dolphins have moved on Signaling the final curtain call in all its atomic pageantry"

I heard Hayden singing out loudly in the living room. The music was A Perfect Circles, So long and thanks for all the fish. One of his favorites to clean to for some odd reason.

"Hey babe, im home! I brought a black wolf!"

"Do you have a nice wife? You seem like the type to be lucky in that club." The black wolf chuckled setting down his leather bag. As hayden walked around the corner, they both stopped, and stared at each other. Both of their faces had this confused, dumbfounded, puppy look. Ears splayed back on both parties, before hayden spoke up first.

"Well, was expecting a black wolf. But hes nice looking, I guess. "He chuckled and extended a paw to the wolf. "I am Hayden, Storms husband!" He spoke in his normally happy low tenor voice.

"Erh.... I didn't know you were gay, Storm." He spoke before hesitantly shaking the huskies paw. "Also didn't know you dated wolves...."

Hayden couldn't help but laugh" Wolf?!!!!" He leaned against the wall laughing. "No amigo, im a Husky! See!" He turned, wagging his special curled tail. "Wish I was a wolf, then my ass wouldn't hurt as much!" He smirked, glaring right at me tho.

"Not my fault you're a submissive pup." I laughed and snagged some towels from the closet in next to the bathroom on the first floor. "Here you go stud, shower up, and we will show you around town!" I smiled handing him the soft white towels.

"Thanks." He said, a smile forming for the first time on his lips.
