Not my longest chapter. I cut what I was originally gonna post nearly in half because of how I wrote it. So instead I made it into two chapters. The next one will come early...hehe, so don't worry about waiting long.

Aaron awoke from his sleep in a daze. He was in the middle if a forest, sitting in a pile of leaves. He stretched his muscles a bit before flying up a couple feet off the ground. He let out a big yawn and rubbed his eyes. "Ah, morning. Guess I'll go find some breakfast before I head out." he thought. Aaron flew around a small area of the forest in search of some berries he could quickly snack on before heading to his next destination. His search didn't take long. He found a pecha berry tree only a couple minutes from where he was sleeping. He picked a couple and slowly munched on them while thinking about what he was going to do next. It's been too long since the last time he's visited that place. Every time he mustered up what little courage he had to go there, the pain in his heart would be too great for him to do anymore than cry. This time however, he was going to do more than just cry and curse himself for causing what happened.

He finished breakfast and began his journey. He could easily teleport there, but he needed time to gather his nerves. As he flew over the forest, a sense of nostalgia overtook him, along with some "what if's" about his life. "If I were stronger, then that wouldn't have happened. If I wasn't there... if I was something else... if I wasn't even born... it wouldn't have happened." It didn't take long for him to start hating himself for what he was. He cursed himself for ever being born into the world. Just the thought of what happened back then was enough to make him burn with hatred for the ones who forced him to live with the burden of being the only survivor, sorrow and envy for the ones left behind, shame at his own uselessness, and loneliness for being left alone. He strayed from his thoughts long enough to realize that he was already there. He slowly descended into a small clearing in the forest. He came to rest in front of two tall rocks sticking out of the ground. Embedded on one was a symbol for fire and on the other was a leaf. He sat down between the two and gathered his nerves.

"Hey..." he started, feeling his eyes water. "It's been a while since I've talked to you two... and I'm sorry for that. C-can you tell me something?" He asked on the verge of sobbing. "Why... Why did you... tell me run? I could've... done something." He broke down crying in front of the graves of his parents.

About ten years ago, in the land of Johto, a young mew was flying around minding his business. The young psychic cat didn't have a care in the world. Why should he? He was free to do whatever he wanted. He casually played with the human children disguised as another pokemon, the pokemon he met were nice, and he lived each day to the fullest. The only concern he had was where he was going to find food. Other than that, his days were full of adventure and discovery.

He went in search of some humans to play with one morning in an unfamiliar area around Mt. Silver, where he was sure he saw some humans walking in that direction the previous day. Mew flew around the base of the mountain. He saw some smoke earlier and was curious as to what was in that area. Once he got there, he saw a group of seven men sleeping around a once lit campfire. There were long and short metal sticks next to their sleeping bodies. He picked one up using his psychic powers and examined it. Upon careful inspection, he found that the metal sticks were hollow and peered down the dark hole.

After he was finished with it, he casually tossed it to the side to pick up another one, which was mistake number one. Once the metal stick made hit the ground, a loud boom rang out in the area, making Mew and the sleeping men jump and yell in fright. Several men picked up their guns in a panic and aimed at different areas of the surrounding woods trying to figure out what was going on. Mew in the meantime, was too scared to move from where he was. It wasn't until the men calmed down did they notice he was there.

"Well, look at what we've got here." said one of the men as he casually approached the psychic cat. He was a tall, gruff looking man with a thick beard that covered most of his face.

"Looks like a mew wandered in our site." he said with slight chuckle. The other men stared at the floating mew in awe. "Was it you that discharged one of our guns?" he asked.

"Guns? Is that what you call those sticks?"

"Yeah, that's right. You've never seen one before?" Mew shook his head. "Let me show you how it works then." The gruff looking man picked up a rifle. Mew, interested in this new object, flew closer to the man to get a better look, making mistake number two. As the man was teaching Mew about the gun and all its mechanisms, a few of the other men were snickering and talking amongst themselves as they loaded their guns. Mew took note of this and suddenly became very nervous. He started to read their minds and was shocked at what they wanted to do to him. They were going to kill him and sell his hide for a very high price in the black market. He saw various images of different pokemon being killed, skinned, and brutally tortured by them. He sensed danger coming from behind him and quickly turned around to see someone pointing a loaded rifle at him. He darted out of the way as the first shot was fired. Soon enough, the other men were aiming at him from different angles. Mew flew as fast as could into the woods, desperately wanting to separate himself from them.

"How could they do that to pokemon?" He thought as he flew through the trees. Another shot was fired. He heard the ringing of the bullet as it flew past his ear. He took a couple turns hoping to throw them off his trail so that he'd have enough time to transform.

"It went over this way." he heard one them say. Quickly, he ducked inside a bush and began to transform. A low white light enveloped his form. His tail shrank and reformed itself into a small thick spike surrounded by small protective plates. His feet shrank, ears disappeared, and his body and face rounded, losing his cat-like appearance. His belly grew and a spike grew out of his head. The light faded and Mew looked over his new form and was pleased with the results. He was a larvitar now, with all the markings in the right places.

"Over here!" a man shouted. He sounded real close, so without a second thought, Mew darted out of the bushes. He didn't get very far though. As soon as he ran out, he bumped into something with dark bluish green fur. He looked up at the towering figure as it turned around. It was a typhlosion.

"Hey, little guy. What's the rush?" he asked in a friendly manner.

"I-I need help!" Mew shouted in a panicked state. "There's a group of men chasing me and-"

"No need to say anything more. Come with me." The typhlosion picked up the larvitar disguised mew and carried him away. The group of men were still chasing them. Thankfully, they could only hear where the typhlosion was going. As he was being carried, Mew was wondering why a complete stranger would suddenly help him without hearing the full story.

They arrived at a cave some distance from where they met. The walls inside were smooth and it looked pretty deep. "Flora!" the typhlosion shouted. A meganium emerged from one of the chambers.

"Dante? What's wrong?" she asked sensing the urgency in his voice.

"Take him with you and hide." Dante said as he handed the larvitar off to the plant pokemon. She grabbed the little rock pokemon in her mouth and took him in the chamber she just came out of while Dante stayed behind and watched the entrance for intruders. Flora set him down and looked at him with a worried face.

"What's going on? Who are you little one?" she asked.

"T-there were some humans that wanted k-kill me and sell my fur in some sort of... place! They were chasing me with uh, guns and shooting at me!" Mew shouted.

"Shh... it's okay." She cooed. "Those people aren't going to hurt you. You're safe with us." Flora muzzled her face with larvitar's, whispering soothing words in his almost non-existent ear. Larvitar calmed down a bit and nuzzled back.

"She smells nice." Larvitar thought. Flora stopped her nuzzling and focused her attention on the chamber entrance. Dante stood guard at the entrance of his home, waiting for any of the humans to show up. It didn't take long for them to find the typhlosion and his home.

"You sure it came 'round this way?" asked one of men who had a red cap on.

"Course I'm sure. He was making all kinds of noise over here." replied another man with a brown hunter's hat. The third man was silent. He seemed more focused on finding the mew than his two associates. They spotted the typhlosion at the mouth of the cave. Dante growled at the sight of them.

"Hey, while we're here, why don't get this typhlosion here. I'm sure it'll sell for a good price." the man in the red cap said. Dante roared and ignited the flames on his back, making a threatening stand against the intruders. The red and brown hat men quickly pointed their guns at Dante, ready to fire.

"Will you two stop acting like idiots?!" the third man shouted. "We're here to find a mew, not shoot every freaking pokemon that comes our way!" The third human had jet black hair and a real mean look in his dark green eyes. The two humans lowered their guns with grunt.

"Well you ain't gotta say it like that. We just havin' some fun." said the red capped man.

"We're not here to 'just have fun'. We're on a serious hunt right now and I don't have the time to babysit a couple of trigger happy idiots!" The black haired man stormed off, followed by the other two. Just before they left, the man in the red cap turned back to Dante. He pointed an imaginary gun at him and shot. Dante retaliated by shooting a weak flamethrower at his hat, making it catch fire. The man immediately threw his hat on the ground, and ran to catch up with the others.

"Stupid hunters." Dante mumbled. He waited for them to be out of earshot before going back in his home.

He heard laughter coming from inside one of the chambers and followed it. Inside, he saw Flora tickling larvitar with her vines. Dante smiled at how cute the larvitar looked being tickled. Flora noticed Dante standing in the doorway and stopped playing with the pudgy rock type.

"So were you just gonna stand there all day and have me worry about you?" she asked as she approached the powerful typhlosion.

"Well, you didn't seem so concerned about me just a second ago." Dante countered as he kissed her nose.

"That's because I have a frightened little child to attend to. Besides, I have faith in my big, strong mate." She leaned down and licked his cheek. "So, what are we going to do with him?" Dante and Flora looked at the larvitar, who just recovered from his tickling onslaught.

"What are you gonna do to me?" larvitar asked.

"Nothing right now, but I think it's best we see your true form." Dante replied. Flora looked at him quizzical look.

"What are you talking about?" she asked.

"If I'm right, judging from what those hunters were talking about, our little guest is not who he seems to be." Dante responded. Larvitar started to get worried.

"You're not gonna tell those people out there are you?" he asked. Dante chuckled.

"If I were going to do that, I wouldn't have helped you at all. Now, why don't you show us what you really look like."

Larvitar lit up with a dull white light and turned back into his true self. Needless to say, Flora was surprised to see the pink little mew floating in front of her.

"Y-you're a mew?!" She exclaimed.

"Yeah. That's why those people were chasing me. I thought they were nice people to play with but... I was wrong. I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble." Mew said in a sad tone.

"No need to apologize little one. Where are your parents?" Flora asked. Mew cocked his head to the side in confusion.

"What are parents?"

"You don't know what parents are?" Flora asked in shock. Mew shook his head. Flora gave Dante a worried look.

"You mean you don't have any parents, guardians, someone to look after you?" Dante asked. Mew shook his head. Dante started thinking. Surely they couldn't just let him go back put there where those hunters are. He was sure they were going to find him again in a matter of minutes. And with no one to look after him, he would probably end up in the same situation again. He wasn't going to let that happen while he still had control of the situation. Then he had an idea. He wasn't sure if his mate or the mew would agree, but he felt he might as well give it a shot. "Um, since I wouldn't feel right if we just sent you back out there with those hunters, how about you stay with us?"

"What?" Flora and Mew said together, both as shocked as the other.

"Look, I wouldn't feel right sending you back out there where there are people looking to kill you and you don't have anyone to look after you to make sure you're safe from harm." he explained.

"But Dante, we-" Flora began, but Dante hushed her by putting a finger to her mouth. Mew thought the proposal over in his head. He'll have to give up his traveling days to live with two pokemon he knows nothing about.

"They seem nice... but he looks like he wants me to stay here for some other reason than he's telling me." Mew thought as he studied them. He pondered more on it, but figured he didn't have anything else better to do. "I guess you're right. If I were to stay with you, you'll keep me safe?" Dante nodded. "All right. I'll stay." Mew said with a shrug. Dante kept his excitement in check and suppressed the urge to jump for joy.

"Good. Um... do you have a name we can call you by? No offense, but I can't really call someone by what species they are." Dante said. Mew shook his head.

"No, I don't have a name. Everyone just seems to call me Mew."

"Well we can't have that. Tell you what. I'll come up with a name for you by the end of the night to make things official."

"Okay." Mew replied with a grin.

"Great. Flora, I'll be back in a little bit. I gotta make sure those hunter don't come snooping around here."

"Okay. Be careful." Flora replied. She licked his cheek affectionately. Dante turned and left out the chamber. "Oh, Dante." Flora called. He stopped and turned back to his mate. "We're gonna have a talk when you get back." Dante frowned at this. He knew he was in trouble if she wanted to "talk" about something. He continued walking out the cave saying "Yeah yeah" like a child who was used to being in trouble.

Dante went on patrol and searched for any signs of those hunters he saw. He wandered around his territory for a while, almost convinced that they had left the area. "Doesn't seem like they're around." he thought. "Then again, that guy with the black hair didn't seem like the type who would give up that easily." Dante was so preoccupied with his thoughts he didn't notice someone approach him from behind.

"Yo, Dante!" someone called out. Dante snapped out of his trance and turned around to see a tyranitar walking toward him.

"Oh, hey Quake." Dante responded.

"Don't "hey" me. What are you doing all the way out here?" the powerful rock lizard asked.

"There were some hunters around here earlier and I wanted to make sure they were gone."

"Hunters eh? I saw a group of them a little while ago. I scared them off after I sent a little hyper beam their way." Dante let out a sigh of relief. The tyranitar was a powerful ally and lifetime friend of his. True to his word, no matter what the subject is, he'll always let you what he thinks of it, be it good or bad. Because of this and several other reasons, Dante has never had a reason not to trust him.

"Thanks. You have no idea how relieved I am."

"That's good to hear. So why were they after you?" Quake asked a bit worried for his friend.

"They're not after me. They were after a... um..." he trailed off, wondering if his friend will believe him.

"After what? Look, there are others around this mountain besides us, so if you know what's going on you need to tell me." Quake said sternly.

"Fine... They were hunting a mew that bumped into me while I was out. I took him into my cave and kept him away from the hunters. I was thinking that maybe he should stay with me and Flora for a while, at least until this whole thing blows over." He explained. There was a pause. Quake looked as if he were thinking about everything Dante had said. After what felt like forever, the mighty tyranitar let out a thunderous laugh.

"No way! No freakin' way you've got a mew with you! Come on, tell me what you really did to piss them off." he laughed. Dante sighed.

"If you don't believe me, I can prove it to you." Dante said with a grin.

"If you can show me a mew, I'll do you one favor. No matter what it is, I'll get it done." Quake said still laughing.

"Deal. Come on let's get going." Quake stopped laughing and had a look of surprise on his face.

"W-wait! Are you serious?! I take back what I said then!" Dante merely laughed and kept leading the way to his home.

*****8*****

"Flora, I'm back! Quake's with me too!" Dante shouted as he walked in his home, Quake following closely behind. He was a little worried that Dante had been telling the truth about having a mew in his home, but he still remained skeptical. He heard laughing coming from one the chambers, one he knew was Flora, but the other one was unfamiliar to him.

"You know I was just kidding about doing that favor, right?" Quake pleaded.

"Don't chicken out now. You said one favor, no matter what it is." Dante quoted with a grin. He led the worried tyranitar into the chamber that the laughter was coming from. When they got inside, Quake was forced to admit defeat. In the room being playfully chased by Flora was the ever-rare mew he doubted was here.

"Dante, you're back." Flora said as she ran up and licked his cheek affectionately. She then turned to Quake. "It's nice to see you again Quake. Are you hungry? We've got some berries if you want some." she offered.

"Oh, it's nice to see you again too. Don't worry about feeding me, I've had a big breakfast." Quake replies as he stares at the floating psychic cat. Little did they know, Mew was scared of Quake, mostly because of how intimidating he looks. He was shaking in place, too scared to really do much than stare back at him.

"Quake, this is the mew I told you about." Dante said. Quake casually approached the pink cat, not realizing how much he was shaking.

"Hey there little guy." Quake greeted with a friendly smile. Mew let out a high-pitched cry and collapsed on the cave floor. Dante and Flora rushed over to the fallen mew and checked him over. Flora sighed in relief.

"He's fine. He just fainted."

"Why would he faint?" Quake asked.

"Probably because you scared him." Dante commented.

"What are you talkin' about?"

"Well, compared to a little mew, you're a very intimidating pokemon. I guess it would be like you facing off against a wailord." Quake thought about his explanation for a moment and nodded in agreement.

"Guess I should work on that." he said with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Well, since he won't wake up for a little while, how about we have that talk now Dante?" Flora said in a deceptively sweet voice. Dante sighed.

"Yes dear. Quake, watch him until we come back." Dante said as he was led out to another chamber in the cave.

"Alright. Can I count this as a favor?"

"Nope." Quake grunted and gave the unconscious mew his attention.

Mew woke up sometime later in a darkened room. He sat up and looked around. There was a light coming from outside the room. He got up and made his way out the room and into the main area of the cave. He saw Dante and Flora sitting together next to a fire. He could tell that it was nighttime from where he was. Dante was whispering things to Flora and she was giggling. He slowly flew over to them.

"Um...hello." he said a little unsure if he was interrupting something. They turned their heads.

"You're awake." Flora said happily.

"Yeah, what happened?"

"You fainted when my tyranitar friend said hi to you." Dante said with a laugh. Mew blushed.

"Sorry about that." he apologized.

"No need to apologize." Flora said as she pulled him close to her with her vine. She sat him down in front of her. "Are you hungry?" Before he could answer, his stomach made a loud grumble, to which he blushed. "I'll take that as a yes." Flora used her vine to grab a berry from a pile along the wall and gave it to him.

"Thank you." he said before he started eating the berry. Dante and Flora got their own berries joined him.

After they finished their berries, they sat together quietly for what seemed like a few hours. The fire kept them warm and comfortable. Mew was cuddled between Dante and Flora. Dante's warm fur was comfortable and soft, so he let his head rest on the fire pokemon's side. Dante didn't mind. He thought it was cute that he was a comfy pillow for someone. Flora was thinking that they looked cute like that, almost like a father and son. Mew was slowly getting used to the idea of having parents. If his nights were going to be this pleasant, he'll gladly stay as long as they want him to.

"Mew? You still awake?" Dante asked.

"Yeah..." mew replied, followed by a big yawn. Flora chuckled.

"I think someone needs to go to sleep." Mew shook his head vigorously to wake himself up.

"No I- *yawn* don't." he denied. Flora giggled at his futile attempts to hide his drowsiness.

"Yes, you do. Go back in the room. We'll be there in a minute." Flora said as she nuzzled his cheek.

"Can't I stay with you till I fall asleep?" he asked, resting his head back on Dante.

"Fine. I'll let you stay up just this once." Mew sighed and got comfortable.

"Mew, I have something to tell you before you go to sleep." Dante said. Mew yawned.

"What is it?"

"We came up with a name to call you. It's gonna be Aaron. What do you think?" Mew's eyelids were getting too heavy stay open. He was sleepier than he thought. He tried as hard as he could to concentrate on the new name he was given.

"Aaron... I... like it." he said just before sleep completely took hold of him.

*****8*****

Aaron awoke the next morning feeling warmer than usual. He opened his eyes fully and found that he was in the arms of Dante. The mighty typhlosion was sleeping on his back, occasionally kicking his leg due to a dream he was having. He sat up and looked around the room to find Flora, but she wasn't there. Wondering where she could have gone, he carefully wiggled out of Dante's hold on him and went to search for her. He searched the entire cave, but couldn't find a trace of her.

"Where is she?" he asked himself. With him not being familiar with the mountain area and the surrounding forest, he was limited in searching options. He got an idea and figured he would try to find her telepathically. He closed his eyes and focused his mind. He saw mental images of the forest within 30 yards of the cave. He scanned the area thoroughly for any signs of her "Not here." he thought. He expanded his search to 50 yards. "Not here either." He expanded his search to 80... 120...160 yards. He found her. She was about 156 yards (about 456 feet) northeast of the cave. She was in a small pond bathing herself. Now that he knew where she was, he flew out to go see her.

Flora was washing herself in a cool pond not very far from her home. She was humming a song that was sung to her by her mother when she was little. The song was soothing and it put her mind at ease. She would occasionally let her mind wonder back to the days of spending stormy nights with her family. Her mother would always sing that song to calm her and her siblings down when they were scared. She was so preoccupied with her thoughts, she didn't notice that Aaron had arrived.

"Flora?" Aaron called. Flora jumped in surprise.

"A-Aaron? What are you doing here?" she asked

"I didn't see you when I woke up, so I came here." he said innocently. Flora sighed.

"Aaron, you can't just leave the cave leave the cave without telling anyone. I'm pretty sure Dante is still sleeping right now. What if those hunters were looking for you?" she said sternly. "You can't wander by yourself until we're absolutely sure they're gone, understand?" Aaron nodded. "Good. Since you're here, why don't you take a bath with me." she suggested.

"I guess so. Do I have to get in the water?" he asked as he was not very fond of water.

"Of course you have to get in the water." she laughed. Aaron gulped and slowly eased himself lower until he felt the cool water touch his feet. At that point, Flora used one of her vines to splash Aaron in the face. Aaron let out a small yipe and looked at Flora with a sense of betrayal, to which she laughed at. "Don't be such a scaredy skitty. It's only water." Aaron reluctantly dropped himself in the cool water and started cleaning himself.

After their bath, Flora and Aaron went to another spot in the forest that was close to home. Flora led him to a small clearing so they could dry themselves in the warm morning sun. This was the first thing he felt he had in common with the meganium. He loves to sunbathe. He'd do it for hours and would sometimes fall asleep. He's done it for so long; it's practically second nature to him. Not long into their session, Aaron started feeling hungry. He was going to ask if he could go search for food, but he heard a low roar coming from Flora.

"Guess it's time for breakfast." she said with a nervous laugh. She got up and showed Aaron a few of the places where she and Dante get their berries. They enjoyed a nice breakfast and headed home with a few berries for the typhlosion in waiting, who she was sure was up by now.

Dante woke up with a big yawn. He slowly sat up and rubbed his eyes. He looked around and saw that he was alone, which he had no problem with at first until he remembered that Aaron was sleeping in his arms when he fell asleep the previous night. He frantically got up and searched the cave for him. When he found that the pink psychic wasn't there, he calmed himself down enough to think somewhat clearly.

"Okay, he couldn't have gotten far. Maybe Flora took him with her when she got up. But she would've told me the night before if she were to do that. Did he run off? No, he said he'll stay here. Where is he?!" As he was about to feel his mind explode with worry, he saw Flora with Aaron sitting on top of her head approaching the cave. A huge wave of relief swept over him.

"Dante, we're back! I know you must be hungry, so we brought food!" Flora shouted as she saw him coming out the cave.

"Was he with you this whole time?" Flora nodded and greeted Dante with a lick to his cheek.

"Yes, sorry I didn't tell you earlier. He surprised me when I woke up this morning. Turns out he's an early riser like me." Dante nodded at her response and looked to Aaron. He was happily munching away on a berry, looking around as if he were somewhere else. Dante picked Aaron off Flora head, making the psychic let out a cry of surprise, and held him at eye level in front of his face.

"I was worried about you, ya know."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you." Aaron apologized.

"It's alright. As long as you're safe, that's all that matters." Dante stated with a smile. Aaron smiled back and hugged the fire weasel's nose with his little arms.

"If you're done with your tender moment, how about you eat some of the food we got before you starve." Flora said as she presented a berry to him. Dante let go of Aaron and made him dangle off his face as he took the berry and went inside.
