Chapter 89: Nothing We Do Makes Any Difference Whatsoever

_Traveler's Log space date 07;23;34 _

Milo Silver reporting. My friend and I have successfully escaped the apocalypse and are on the adventure of a lifetime courtesy of some friends - extraterrestrial friends we ah, befriended a few years before. They saved us from certain death when all hope was lost and now we are traveling the cosmos with them! Can you believe that?!

(Nice narration Milo.)

"Milo how can you be so cheerful?" Panda Lee Ling asked interrupting her friend's monolog.

"Because we are doing something no one from our world has ever done Panda Lee! Well, that we know of." The chubby wolverine boy said narrating to a pad that was lying on his bed.

"It is because of the destruction of our home world that we are out here." The female panda said wistfully sitting down on her friend's bed.

"Yeah I miss our friends too- I hope Arthur, Minka, Cody and Primrose are safe."

"And if they aren't Milo?" The panda girl asked.

"Then that would be a bummer. But look at this! I mean our room!" The young wolverine said gesturing to the small metallic space he shared aboard the spacecraft with Panda Lee.

"Yeah Hue and Cassia tried their best to make it feel like home. It kind of does in a metallic, sterile sort of way."

(Hue and Cassia as in the Manassases?!)

*chime*

"Our room even has a doorbell how quaint! We need some posters though, maybe even some artwork."

The panda girl gave her friend a look as if to silently suggest that he was such a nerd.

"Come in, it is open." The youngling said calling out to their visitor.

"Good day children of animals!" A yellow spiked eyeball with numerous tentacles said entering the panda and wolverine's room.

"Hey Cassia." Milo said cheerfully.

"Hi Cassia. What can we do for you?" Panda Lee said in a dour tone.

"Time for recreation. According to my research Counter Earthers need exercise everyday to remain healthy." The female eyeball creature said.

"Well, I suppose." Milo said looking up from the bed.

"There is no I suppose. Boy wolverine seems to have become more rounder in the past few weeks." Cassia said floating over to his bed.

The female extraterrestrial felt up Milo placing her tentacles on his legs, arms, torso, neck, face, stomach and even genitals.

"It is true. Milo has become heavier."

"Are you sure it isn't the gravity on the ship?" The boy said trying to deflect the observation.

The yellow eyeball seemed to stare right through him. Panda Lee also joined in.

"Ok maybe I have gained a few pounds. So what type of recreation did you have in mind?"

"Badminton."

"Badminton Cassia?" The panda girl asked the tentacled eyeball.

"Hue and I watched some humans on your world play the game once. It looked quite physical."

(Yeah, that is what chubby boy here needs something physical.)

"Well it can be but you need to have some things to play the game." Milo started to say.

"Panda girl and Wolverine boy come! Come!" Cassia said 'walking' out of the pair's room.

The two followed their host into the hallway and past a large window that had a dazzling display of group of comets racing by.

Milo took in the site before Panda Lee moved him on.

The yellow spiked eyeball escorted them to a white oval shaped room that was about 15 x 15 in size.

"What is this?" Panda Lee asked.

"Hon-hon, this room can serve many purposes and can be many things. Today it is for badminton."

"I don't know, we are going to need some things Cassia." Milo said trying to bring the extraterrestrial eyeball back to reality. "Like a net about six feet tall by 13 feet in length."

No sooner had the wolverine uttered the words, a net materialized in the center of the room.

"Whoa." Panda Lee said.

"We are going to need rackets and a shuttlecock. It is like a feather- whoa..." Milo said as the rest of their sports equipment materialized.

"Like this?" Cassia asked.

The panda and wolverine nodded.

"Wait, something is missing... I know this play area needs defined boundaries."

No sooner had Ms. Manassas said that a series of defined rectangles appeared on either side of the net.

"Nice trick, but I think there should be two narrow ones here and then two long ones here." Milo said.

The corrections were instantaneous.

(Instant recreation room! That is neat!)

"Now as to the rules of the game- what are they?" The yellow tentacled eyeball asked.

"That is simple each player hits the shuttlecock over the net onto the opposing side. The opponent will attempt to return it if they can. If they can't it is a point. However if a player hits the shuttlecock pass the boundary it is a point for the opposing side." The chubby wolverine boy said.

"This sounds like fun! Panda Lee please keep score?"

"Yeah, sure." The she panda said disinterested. "First player to reach ten points is the winner."

The wolverine and yellow eyeball nodded in agreement.

"Great! I will go first." Milo said hitting the birdie over the net.

Cassia was a little slow to respond but used one of her 'arms' to position her racquet just right to return the shuttlecock over the net forcing the chubby wolverine to dive just to make the return.

"Ha! Thought I would miss did ya?!"

The tenteticaled eyeball seemed to wink as she made the return.

*BOOF*

Milo jumped to his foot-paws as he struggled to return the birdie. But he wasn't fast enough.

"Point to Cassia." The panda girl announced.

And so the match ensued. The female extraterrestrial returned everything that was sent her way without missing a beat- forcing the chubby wolverine boy to really get some exercise as he struggled to return what was sent to him often missing despite his best efforts. It was very amusing to watch.

"Point and game goes to Cassia." Panda Lee announced.

*Groan*

*Thud*

"You are extremely good at this game Cassia." Milo said lying on his back submitting to that afternoon's victor.

"Milo there is a reason for that." The panda girl said pointing to the victor.

(Oh I see!!)

"Wait a minute." The chubby wolverine boy said getting up. He walked over to the female alien. "What's this?"

"A racquet?" Ms. Manassas said innocently.

"And that over there?" Milo said examining another tententacal.

"Oh another racquet." Cassia said innocently.

"And that there? And here, and wait, there? You were playing with six racquets?!"

"Looks like it." Panda Lee said chiming in. "One for each 'arm.'

(Now that is too funny!!!)

"Cassia what do you have to say for yourself?" Milo said assuming an accusatory tone.

"Is playing with multiple racquets against the rules?" The alien female asked.

"It is." The panda girl said.

"Well, Milo Silver your entire body mass did decrease by .004 percent during this exercise." The yellow eyeball said 'smiling'.

"Umm hmm." The wolverine boy said crossing his arms and staring down the alien after realizing he had been had.

"Well I guess you did your best." The panda said placing her paw her friend's shoulder.

"OW. I guess I must have strained something." The wolverine boy said rotating his arm.

"Perhaps an unwinding is in order." Cassia said touching Milo's sore muscles. "Follow me."

"He will be okay. It is just that someone used something that they haven't in a while." Panda Lee said.

The yellow eyeball led the panda and wolverine from the recreation room to the ship's sonic showers room which consisted of some steps and a white horizontal platform about five feet tall.

"Wow- ouch- what is this Cassia?"

"A post recreation room- lie down on the platform if you would."

The chubby wolverine boy did as ordered. The tentacled eyeball started massaging his shoulders, back, torso, arms, legs and paws simultaneously before getting a good grip on his shirt, shorts and undergarments...

*YOINK*

(Wow, everything on him IS chubby.)

"Oh my!" Panda Lee said blushing at seeing her friend naked.

"The experience will be more enriching this way Milo Silver."

"It looks like he just over exerted his shoulder and arms as well." The she panda said observing Ms. Manassas at work.

"How does that feel?" The extraterrestrial massage therapist asked.

"AWESOME." Her client responded grinning ear to ear.

"Now please roll over time to get the other side."

As Milo rolled over Panda Lee blushed as the yellow eyeball started working on his front. Starting at his neck then chest and working her way downward no body part or muscle was ignored.

"My he is chubby everywhere." The she panda said as some of the alien's tentacles focused on the realestate between the boy's legs.

In response Milo started breathing heavily, then moaning and then groaning and then grunting.

"Um, why is Milo Silver straining?!" Ms. Manassas asked confused.

"I think he is trying very hard to keep what is inside his testicals from making it outside." The she panda said to the yellow eyeball.

"Oh the creation of life fluid! It is stored in those oval sacs?"

"Cassia perhaps you should move on to another part of his anatomy, something other than his penis."

"GEK!!!!!" The wolverine shouted.

(Oh my, clean up aisle six!)

"Wow, he is leaking. You Counter Earthers' anatomy is so fascinating... and messy." The she alien observed.

*splurt* *splurt* *splurt*

"We don't have to clean this up right?" Panda Lee asked.

Ms. Manassas guided the panda girl to the steps nearby as the sonic showers came on. She convinced her that the experience would also be more enjoyable if she also disrobed.

"Whoa, this is nice."

"Apparently not just for you Hon-hon." The eyeball said directing her attention to the far table and the now snoring wolverine boy. "But something is wrong. You are not enjoying yourself."

"I don't mean to be ungrateful for you and Hue for rescuing us, but Cassia I miss my home, my family and my friends." The she panda said wistfully. "Is there any chance, any possibility of us returning to Counter Earth?"

"....." The yellow tentacled eyeball was silent.

"I know you and Hue fled your world and arrived on ours shortly afterwards."

"There was nothing left when The Neo had finished with it." Cassia said waving two limbs. A holographic image appeared in front of where her and Panda Lee were seated.

"It is a burnt out dark husk!"

"My world was vibrant, rich and full." Cassia said showing her companion a before image of a dark orange world full of rocks, sand, steppes and mountains and then an after image.

"It is... was quite hilly."

"It was." Cassia said as there was a chiming on the sky ship's intercom.

"Cassia, Milo Silver- Panda Lee Ling please come to the bridge!"

The two females dried off and collected their sleeping companion before making their way to the bridge.

"Mr. Manassas?"

"Dear?" The yellow eyeball asked the red eyeball who was 'standing' on a cylinder like platform with numerous circular controls around him.

"Hey, what is going on?" Milo said making his way to Mr. Manassas' console.

"I think we found a possible candidate." He said to his mate.

"A forever planet?"

(A new home? Now that is interesting...)

Ms. Manassas floated her way to a similar cylinder like platform with numerous controls around it and started touching buttons. She was joined by Panda Lee.

"It is off the preferred travel routes, remote, isolated." Cassia said looking at her readings. "Let's take a look dear."

The Manassas' silver metallic oval shaped craft slowly approached the small blue oval shaped planet.

"Settling into to a high orbit." The red eyeball said as his mate started examining the readings.

"Well?" Milo asked excited.

"No good; there isn't an atmosphere and the gravity is severe."

"Hue, Cassia the planet looks like it is spinning very, very fast."

"Very good Panda Lee. It is rotating so quickly that a day lasts only a mere ten of your hours." The red eyeball said to the panda girl. "That is also why the gravity is inhospitable."

"Can you make the image bigger?" Milo asked.

The tentacled eyeballs pressed something on their consoles and the wall in front of them opened up revealing a large window for Milo to look out of.

"Wow." Milo said gazing upon the bizarre planet.

"Let's not waste anymore time." Hue said. "It is best we move on."

"How unfortunate this was the perfect location." Cassia added.

"Far from it." Her mate added.

"Where to next?" The wolverine boy asked.

"Hmm...." Mr. Manassas pondered. "I was hoping this sector would have the perfect place for all our needs."

"Um how are we doing on supplies? I know we kind of fled Counter Earth in a hurry." Milo asked the male and female extraterrestrials.

"Cassia and I have been preparing for this eventuality we are fully stocked and should be good for sometime. But if we do run out we could just eat you and Panda Lee." The red eyeball said 'grinning.'

(He is kidding... right?!)

"Ha, ha very funny." The chubby wolverine boy said. "Hey so what do you have to eat?"

The she panda was silent.

"Panda Lee... Panda Lee... something wrong Hon-hon?"

"Hue, Cassia can you show me my world- Counter Earth?" The panda girl asked.

The two eyeball creatures looked at the female beastial.

"I overheard that you left some observation instruments there. Could we check them please?"

"Panda Lee Ling longs for her home." The yellow eyeball said to the red.

"Do you have this sickness of home?" Hue asked her.

"Hon-hon Counter Earth has changed." Cassia said to the panda female.

"Please?" She pleaded.

The extraterrestrials acquiesced. "These were recorded from the instruments we left Panda Lee." Hue said pulling up a live image.

"What is that? Looks like a desert." Milo said looking at the display from Hue's console.

"World One the park down the street from where Cassia and I lived." He responded.

"There is nothing there it is all gone!" The wolverine responded.

"Not correct. What is that in the distance?" Panda Lee asked. "That dark structure?"

"The only structure left. The Neo uses it for the forming of terra."

"So it is mining our world then?" Milo asked.

The two beings 'nodded.' "The same was done to our world Milo Silver."

"But what of the populace and all the cities?" Panda Lee asked her hosts. "What happened to them after you rescued us?"

The yellow eyeball pressed a touchpad on her console. "One of the instruments we left behind also recorded this."

The beastial children observed a holo projection of their former home. The blue marble planet appeared to be mostly intact but there appeared to be a thin ring around the planet.

"Since when does Counter Earth have rings?" The she panda asked their two hosts. "It is not Saturn!"

"Oh my gosh those aren't rings!!!!" Milo shouted. "Zoom in!"

Reluctantly Cassia did bringing the horrors of what they experienced seven months ago into clear view.

"Those aren't rocks, they are bodies floating in space around the planet!" Panda Lee gasped.

(So that is what happened to those who were sucked into the sky.)

"The Neo forcibly removed the populace so it could start transforming the planet. Those that it did not inhabit wound up there." Hue said gently.

"My planet! My home!" The she panda said sobbing.

"I am sorry Hon-hon." Cassia said placing a limb on the she beastial's shoulder.

"I understand now why we can't go back. There is nothing to go back to." The chubby wolverine said. "Were there any survivors?"

"You two and those that serve The Neo, that we know about anyway. It would be extremely wise not to return there Milo Silver." The red eyeball said gently.

"I wanted a house by the sea, a mate and maybe one or two cubs! And all that is gone!"

"Not necessarily. There could be survivors that like us made it off world." Milo said trying to cheer his friend up. "I guess the best we can do is to keep moving forward."

"WAAAH!!" The she panda said running off of the bridge.

"This is one of those moments of awkward I have heard Counter Earthers describe." Mr. Manassas said. "I will go and talk to her."

Milo watched the red tentacled eyeball 'walk' off of the bridge. No sooner had Hue left he took over the extraterrestrial's station.

"So where to next? Maybe we can find a space ursine for Panda Lee?" Milo said to Cassia.

Panda Lee returned to the room she shared with Milo which is where Hue found her.

"Panda Lee can I visit with you?"

"It's open she responded."

"These times you are in have been most difficult for you and Milo Silver as they were for Cassia and myself. You are experiencing the great loss we felt when our home was destroyed." The eyeball said entering the room.

*sniff* *sniff* "What did you and Cassia do?"

"We realized that we still had each other and we decided it was best to relocate. It is a good thing we did, otherwise we would not have met you and Milo Silver."

"Hue, you don't have to keep saying our full names when we speak."

"Yes Panda Lee. I mean Panda. Your language is a most difficult one to master in deed. Regardless of what happens you have Cassia, Milo and myself- we will always be here for you."

"Hue, Hon-hon please come to the bridge we have found another planet."

"Perhaps you need to find a nickname for Milo too.."

"You mean like Cassia has for you?"

The female beastial nodded.

"Snacks seems like a good name." Mr. Manassas concluded.

The two returned to the bridge where they found Milo staring out of the window at a large purple and green shaped planet.

(That is one weird looking world.)

"Remarkable." The chubby wolverine said. "Could this be the one?"

Cassia looked at her instrument panel.

"Gravity and atmosphere seem acceptable."

"What about rotation?" Hue asked his mate.

"Every 31.2 hours."

"So the days are a little longer than we are used to." Panda Lee said.

"Take us down dear. Milo Silver, I mean Milo and I are going to do some exploration."

The metallic silver shaped craft set down on the outskirts of a jungle. A large keyhole shaped door formed on the hull of the ship. Milo and Hue exited to look around.

"Nominal temperature." The wolverine said looking at the pad he was holding. "The purple sky will take some getting used to though."

"Jungle seem humid, the ground fertile but there doesn't seem to be any signs of sentient life."

"Does that mean we have the whole planet to ourselves?" Milo said suddenly gasping for air.

"Milo Silver? I mean Milo?"

The gasping turned to wheezing before the chubby wolverine boy toppled over collapsing.

(Uh oh.)

The red tentecaled eyeball quickly grasped the pad the boy had been reading before collecting him and returning to the ship.

Hue and Cassia placed Milo isolation for the next thirty minutes conducting scan after scan on him.

"What happened? Will he be okay?" Panda Lee asked concerned.

"Yes. Milo's body went into shock." Mr. Manassas stated.

"The atmospheric make up on this world is apparently incompatible with your biology." Cassia said handing the she beastial Milo's scanning instrument.

Panda Lee read the output 1% oxygen, 19% nitrogen, 80% carbon dioxide and trace gases.

"This one is a no go too dear." Hue said to his mate.

"Then we are leaving." She replied returning to the bridge.

It was about thirty minutes before the chubby wolverine boy came to.

"What happened?"

"The atmosphere didn't agree with you." Panda Lee said showing Milo the readings he had taken.

"Perhaps the time is come has come Panda Lee, Milo."

"For what Mr. Manassas?" Milo asked the red eyeball.

"For Cassia and myself to start training you in our spacecraft's operations. You are no longer just passengers on this quest."

"AWESOME!!!!" The chubby wolverine boy said.

"You mean this is a journey, our journey to find a new home." The she panda said.

"Yes." Mr. Manassas said.

"Great when do we start?!" Milo said salivating.

"Hue, Hon-hon to the bridge please."

The panda and extraterrestrial traded glances with each other and rushed to the bridge.

"What do you have dear?"

"It is another sky ship." The yellow eyeball said.

"It looks like ours... only worse off." Panda Lee said staring out of the window.

(Will you look at that!)

The silver metallic ship was slowly rotating in space with debris floating around it. A lot of debris.

The panda girl traded glances with her companions.

"Something bad happened here..." Mr. Manassas said.

To Be Continued....
