The DogBoys: A Non-Sexual Interlude Rev. 1.01

Authors note: Well, I had intended to re-write the works from part 3 on, but never found the wherewithal. So, most of this was written years ago, shortly after the others originally were. Slight revisions to syntax, grammer, as well as minor changes to content to bring it up-to-speed and consistent with where the series has gone in my brain. See previous stories in the series for forword. Vince and I turned off the showers, and went out to a bench in the central area of the shower hall. I retrieved my towel, and when I turned, Vince was busy scrubbing the water from his head fur with his towel. I, of course went to help him with the lower areas, wrapping my towel around his back and massaging him gently. I worked my way down, kneading his ass cheeks and making a crease up between them, progressing to the backs of his thighs.

So I was kneeling behind Vince when they shot us. I had felt them coming, but never figured they'd just shoot. "Sorry Vince..." I heard one say. The shot hit him directly in the back, just below the shoulder blades, throwing him forward and into the lockers. Yesterday, had his unprotected body been hit with a laser, it would've passed right through, disintegrating most of his upper torso into blood and burning tissue... but that was yesterday. Even as it was, he might still die. I could smell his burnt flesh and fur, felt his pain and his laboured breathing.

The shot at me struck me in the upper back, just below the neck. I barely felt it. I stood up, turning to face our attackers, even as part of my essence remained with Vince to help him stay alive. This would be quick.

A coalition officer in full DeadBoy armor, a psi-stalker and six more DogBoys all in light DeadBoy or the even lighter DogPack armor They took a step back in surprise. And they were the ones with the guns. I felt the symbiote drop from my body, and scuttle into a corner. My sense and presence filled the room. I sighed and stretched myself throughout the region, like a man stretching his body after a long rest.

"What the Fuck?" The officer asked, too quietly. Scared, their fear like their sweat, covered them. The Stalker and Dogs smelt my true essence for the first time, and it terrified them.

"Cade! Go for help!!" The officer screamed.

A greyhound broke rank, running for the doors, but too late. With a twitch of my essence, barely noticed by me, both rows of lockers on either side of the door crashed together with a horrendous noise, the steel rippling and bending from impact, sealing us all inside. At the same time, the hotwater taps in the showers burst off, and geysers of hot water gushed forth, filling the air with heat and steam, obscuring vision.

I grinned, showing a mouthful of much-too-big teeth, definitely not those of the form I now held. The officer screamed and bolted, and the psi-stalker blindly attacked me, lunging at me with his vibro-knife. I parried with Endrik, suddenly in my hand, severing his hand and knife, both flying off into the steam. His momentum carried him towards me, blood spraying from his stump, and I caught his head in my clawed hand. I was slowly changing my form, .bigger and meaner, as needed. His scream, barely started, ended suddenly with a twist and a pop of his neck breaking. I dropped his shell.

My mind caught the officer as he ran, dragging him back towards me. I parried a laser blast from my right, before he reached me. I gripped him up by the hair, and then held him by the throat. The rest of the pack had taken cover behind shower-stall walls. "Tell them to throw out their weapons," I said levelly, "I won't hurt them."

He just gibbered at me, then screamed "Give up! Give up! Good God, Give uuuuup!!!" I shushed him, digging my will into his brain, and he stopped immediately.

I stared intently into his wide, frightened eyes. "It's okay for them to come out." I soothed.

He suddenly relaxed. "Yes. Yes, of course it is..." Then, louder, "Sergeant Mathus! You and your squad can come out now." No movement. Then: "That's an order!"

The Serge suddenly stepped out, keeping his gun pointed at me, at us both. Slowly, the others joined him, surrounding us. Their clip-catches tripped, and their clips and magazines fell to the ground and skittered off at my whim. Best not to encourage a violent atmosphere.

"Now the guns are useless... put them away." I said. They hesitated just for a moment, and then complied, my influence felt. It doesn't take long, especially for canids. "Thank you." I dropped the human officer, and turned to where Vince's body lay. "If Vince is dead, I'll kill you all." I felt there minds, and found no doubt.

Vince was still breathing I knew. I brought him to me, his body rising from the floor. I took him in my arms, embracing him, my lips, now those of an old human form I once was, touching his. My essence focused more completeky on him, flowed through his body. His wound became as nothing, healing completely as he began to respond to my kiss, our mouths opened and our tongues caressed.

"That's...! That's an abomination!" The human tried to come at us, but the pack now held him back.

Vince opened his eyes, looking into mine, "I-..."

"Shhh."

"I- I- should be dead."

I nodded. "Shhh. It's alright." I gave him another quick lick on the muzzle before setting him on his feet. We returned to the others, and I looked over them all, finally settling on the human officer. "I should kill you. Painfully. Alas, I need your body alive and functional, to be My Messenger." I reached out and clamped my hand over his face, forcing thoughts into his mind, to be shared and spread like a disease to anyone he touched:

"Tell them that the tyranny against life and freedom by the Coalition States is at an end. The only laws are those for the betterment of all good living beings, rich, poor, old, young, human or otherwise. All those in favor of freedom for all will come to Me outside the blight of this city. They will have 3 days to leave the city and come. There will be three more days for those remaining in government and the population, to consider their rule and occupancy of this city, which stands in oposition of the rights of their fellow beings, whom they call lesser. On the seventh day, I will lay waste to this city, and all that are in it, as I have done in Lone Star and other cities in the Corrupt Empire. This message must reach your Emperor above all, for it is he most of all, who will change, or die."

I gave them images and feelings, of what will come, and what had come to pass in other places I had touched. When I was done I released him from my grip. He sagged into the dog pack supporting him.

He stared at me, in awe, "Who are you?"

"A God, awoken." I turned away quickly, and went to get my symbiote.

"Rathe! Wait!" Vince came after me, fearing I intended to leave him behind. I stopped.

"Relax, my friend. I'm not going anywhere yet... Just looking for my suikaz-atruill... my 'damping crab'". It was still under the benches, in the corner it had ran to. I pulled it out by the tail, and held it up for Vince to see. He steps back, bringing his hands up in defense. Admittedly, they were intimidating.

"Geezus! What the fuck is that thing?"

The suikaz looks more like a headless lobster than a crab. It's armoured body long and segmented, tapering to a pointed tail. It's most striking features were the thousands of long, micro-thin filaments that hung from it's entire perimeter, in varying lengths, looking like the finest hair hanging in a curtain off its body. With 8 legs showing, and 2 clawed arms, all of which it could hide under it's shell when shy or threatened. Mine was far from shy, and was splayed out and flailing about like a dying fish on a hook.

"It's a symbiote. It lives off of my essence, in exchange for dampening my psychic scent down to trace levels."

"I like your smell," Vince said, without thinking. Then: "It's kinda scary too, though."

That same 'scent', of the strongest supernatural entity they'll likely have ever have contact with, if they were lucky, was also attracting every other DogBoy and Psi-Stalker in the city. I could feel them coming here, and hear them blasting through he blocked door. Alarm's sounded and red lights everywhere began to flash rhythmically.

"It does seem to get that reaction, yeah," I said, "Time for us to leave."

"I'm coming too?" He asked, not sure if it was a question or not.

I pulled him close. "Of course."

The lockers suddenly burst out from in front of the door, and a mob of gun toting Coalition troops came rushing through the steam. The suikaz scuttled up my arm and onto my back, merging with my flesh again. I raised Endrik, and we were gone to the custom's lockers at the city gate. I retrieved my armor, and Vince got some armor of his own. We walked from the room, and the city.
