Jack heard someone ahead of him and looked up from the ground to see a dark silhouette in the setting sun. He strained his eyes in vain to see who it was. Then, he saw the silhouette flare it's massive wings and turn to him, the streetlights buzzing on, illuminating who the winged silhouette was.

"Hello there, little fox," the silhouette mused with malevolence, slowaly walking into the light, showing himself.

"Drake, why are you interested in me?" the vulpine asked the dragon.

"Heheheh, I watched your previous duel, and I watched that player beat two others before losing to you. Check your win counter versus how many duels you've participated in."

As the fox did so, he realized he had three wins against his two duels. Something clicked into his head and realized that, yes, he won the first match at the beginning of the tournament, something felt odd going against that falcon. The falcon had to have won more than one duel before the match between them, and now it seemed obvious.

"So, the wins accumulated from a player is taken when they lose, essentialling like a bank being robbed," the fox said at last.

"Good thinking, I designed these duel discs as such for the purpose of only the few elite winners able to find the secret location. However, few of these players are worth my time. I have already accumulated three wins, like you. I was planning on dueling that falcon when he beat you, but you turned the tables against him in the end. Now you seem like worthy prey for my Dark World deck, will you attempt to defeat me, most likely knocking me out of the tournament before the finals?"

Jack locked eyes with the winged scale, showing he was serious before opening his maw to loudly answer, "No."

"What?! Nobody's said no to me before!"

"There's a reason why I say no. You created this tournament, therefore, you should have the chance to defend yourself in the finals. Besides, it would seem more fitting to defeat you on live television, instead of in an alley or on a dark street."

"You cur, I should rip your throat out for saying such words and being a coward for not accepting a challenge from me."

"That's your opinion, not mine. One with such a status as you should know that the spotlight should be on the main event, not in the preliminaries."

"Heh, a crafty cur. Why not satiate both of our curiousities by dueling me."

"I already gave my reasons Drake, and if you expect me to go against them, then you only care about a challenge. Much like Lu Bu from the Three Kingdoms Era, not caring about anything else but two things, a worthy challenge and Diao Chan. However, many people know you have no 'Diao Chan' to care about, therefore, you are lower than Lu Bu."

The dragon growled angrily and activated his duel disc. "Enough words, duel me you cur!"

Jack sighed, and activated his duel disc as well, seeing no other options out. "If you can't take no for an answer, then perhaps a major loss will teach you a definite lesson."

Drake drew his hand and a card, beginning his turn and the epic duel at hand. He set two cards and a monster, the holoimages appearing before him, ending his turn. The fox drew his card and set the trap Straight Flush before summoning Red-Eyes B. Chick. As the dragon laughed, the vulpine activated the Chick's special ability, tributing it to special summon Red-Eyes B. Dragon, his favorite dragon in his deck.

"Heh, I see you spent some time developing your skills. Activate trap card!" he roared as he activated Grave Lure, turning the vulpine's top card on his deck face up, then forcing that deck to be shuffled. Jack attacked the face down monster, destroying it with ease, before ending his turn. Drake drew his card, then played Pot of Greed, drawing two more cards from his deck, then set four cards and a monster on his side of the field.

"I see you have no more cards in your hand and your spell/trap card field is full. I thank you for that," the fox grinned as he activated his trap card, Straight Flush, destroying all cards on the dragon's spell/trap card zone. Drake growled and ended his turn, allowing the fox to draw his card. He summoned Dark Blade, then tributed Red-Eyes B. Dragon to special summon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon to the field, it's attack power already 3000 for the two other Red-Eyes family members in the graveyard.

"Ugh... I see you are strong," Drake said as he awaited the assault. The fox grinned as he sent Dark Blade to destroy the face down monster, then sent his Red-Eyes Darkness to lower the dragon's life points down to 5000. He ended his turned afterwards, knowing that the dragon had to put up a powerful defense. Drake drew card, hoping to put up a defense that can help him survive for another turn. He growled and set the card in his spell/trap card zone, ending his turn.

Jack didn't waste time drawing his next card and played his most loyal companion, Mirage Dragon, then looked at how marvelous the three monsters looked. He stared at the rubies set into Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon's hide and wings, then smiled to himself. He sent Mirage Dragon to attack first, then sent Dark Blade to lower the dragon's life points further down, before opening his eyes with determination and locked his vision onto Drake's eyes, knowing he can't do anything.

"Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, Dark Breath Blast! Finish this duel!" he yelled out as the Red-Eyes arched it's head back, then let out a powerful fire breath that had a dark aura just on the edges of it. It hit Drake, lowering his life points down past zero, Jack winning the last two wins needed for him to enter the finals.

As the holoimages faded, Drake stared deep into the fox's eyes before asking, "What's your name kid?"

"It's Jack, and I only joined this tournament to see how far I could go. I have no intention of winning, just testing my abilities."

"With a deck that powerful, why just test yourself? Why not rise to the top?"

He chuckled before answering, "I was never good in the lime-light. I actually expected to lose my second duel. Anyway, I'll be off."

With that, he turned around to see his friends and lovers running towards him, both of them panting hard. Fran handed him his MP3 with a shaking paw, still catching her breath. Brad saw the silhouette of Drake as the dragon walked away, his head still high. Fran opened her maw to say something, but Jack held up his paw, asking for her silence. He opened his duel disc and a holoimage of a young wolf wearing glasses appeared.

"The location of the finals is at the docks, pier seven. The first eight there will be in the finals roster," it spoke before the holoimaging faded, drawing odd looks from the cougars.

"That was Drake who I just beat. We had better hurry, otherwise, I won't be a finalist," the fox said as the duel disc deactivated itself. The cougars nodded and all three ran towards the docks, not wasting any times to get to the finals. As they ran, Jack imagined what the final arena would look like, but then his thoughts switched his friendly rival. He grinned to himself as he imagined Spencer and himself facing off in the last match of the tournament.
