Chapter 5-The Meeting
#5 of Suicide Series # 2
*Here chapter 5, I wake up in the hospital and i meet the assassin face to face. Sorry i took so long to post, i was a my dad's house. He just got back from Mexico and i was really relived to hear that my grandma was okay. My dad left because the doctors told him that my grandma had three days to live.He left to go visit her and when he got there, she was ready to die. She went into surgery and she okay. I happy that she okay, now i can see her doing winter break. Well here the next chapter, enjoy.*
Chapter 5-The Meeting
I could hear the consent beeping in my ear every minute. It was driving me insane and I just wanted to shut it up. It continues to beep and I opened my eyes. I notice that I was in the hospital, and the consent beeping was my heartbeat.
~Well I am not dead, but what about Kevin? ~
I then heard footsteps and a knock on the door. I turned my head towards the door and saw Brandon. I have not seen him since college, and seeing him again was a huge relief.
"Well looks who awake; how are you feeling Drake?"
"I'm okay but what about Kevin?"
"Your son is okay. You had worst injuries then him."
"How bad was it?"
"You spent six hours in surgery. The bullet barley hit you heart. It took off a little bit of your heart but nothing too serious. If the bullet got any closer then you would not be alive right now. You are very lucky, to get an injury like that and live."
I tried to sit up right but I felt pain soar across my chest. Brandon pushes my back down gently.
"Take it easy, you just got of surgery about two hours ago."
"Were you the one operating?"
"No, I barley came into town this morning; I transferred over here. "
"Where Kevin? I need to see him. I need to know that he is okay."
Brandon laugh and he then he respond, "Why don't you look to your right."
I turn my head to the left and I saw Kevin. He was sleeping and he had bandages all over his leg. I assume that was where the assassin shot him.
"He had a bullet stuck inside him and we got it out. The police are looking at the bullet to see if it can lead them to the assassin."
"You know?"
"Mom and dad told me. I also head that your wife was murder and that they are living with you."
"They are, so how have you been? I haven't seen you since college."
"As you can see, I became a doctor and I live in a huge house. I am also dating, and I hope that she will be the one."
"Better enjoy every moment while you still can, life can change in a blink in an eye."
"That was Mr. Ryan last speech to us my senior year. And I know; I saw how fast your life change and now I'm enjoying the moments while I still can."
"So how much longer am I going to have to stay in here?"
"You about two days, your son about a day."
"Do you know who got me to the hospital?"
"No, but they were there when you were shot."
"I was hoping I can thank them but I guess I can't if I don't know them."
Brandon left because he had to go perform surgery soon and he did not that much time to talk. Even though I was his older brother, but it was okay.
I heard some noise coming from my right, I look over and I saw Kevin waking up. He was able to move around easily, unlike me.
"Hey son, how are you feeling?"
"Dad, is that you?"
"Yeah, are you okay?"
"Yeah, my leg hurts like crazy though. What happen to us?"
"Well I went to meet you at your favorite restaurant, to tell you that the assassin was going to kill you if you didn't get inside soon. Good thing you moved or else it could have ended badly for you. When I saw you shot and fall unconscious, I ran over to where you were. I didn't get very far because the assassin shot me too and he hit me in the heart."
"If you were hit in the heart you wouldn't be alive."
"I was hit in the heart but the assassin barley got my heart. If it was moved over an inch then I would be dead."
"Close call."
"I know. I don't really care about me though; I'm more worried about you."
"I'm fine but I'm worried about you."
"Don't worry about me; I'm used to being in the hospital."
"That is so true!"
Both Kevin and I look over to the doorway and I saw the nurse Sara.
"Hello Sara, it nice to meet you again."
"Here I was thinking that I would not see you again in the hospital for emergency matters, it nice to see you again Drake and it nice to see you too Kevin."
"How do you know my name?"
"I'm your personal nurse; I have to know your name."
"Since when did you become a personal nurse?"
"After you near fire death."
"Dang, that was a while back"
"Dad, when were you in a fire?"
"My junior year of high school; my foster parents lock the door on my and I was stuck with the fire. I almost died that day but I was saved by the firemen."
Sara dropped the food she got for us on the table in between me and Kevin and left.
"If you need anything, just press that button by you bed. It will call me and I will be here soon."
"Thank you Sara."
Kevin got up with ease while I struggle to get up. He helped me up and took me down at the table. We both ate what food we had and we both wanted to leave. We could not leave because we were under watch. He wanted to go meet Adam and be protected from him. Adam was the only one that made him feel safe, ever since his mom died.
The next day Kevin was able to leave and he did. He wanted to be with Adam again, and he wanted to be with someone he could trust. He trusted me and he felt protected around me but since I was in the hospital, he did not stay.
Kevin
Kevin left and he went straight to Adam's house. He flew there, not wanting to take any chances again. He got there in a minute and he knock on the door.
"Hey Kevin, oh my god, what happen to you?"
"Can I go inside, I starting to feel a little weak?"
"Yeah, here let my help you."
Adam puts his arm around Kevin back and helps him walks over to the couch. Adam help Kevin lay down on the couch and Kevin started to tell Adam what happened.
"So you and your dad were both shot and taken to the hospital?"
"Yes."
"And the assassin is after your dad and you?"
"Yes, are you mad?"
"No, I will protect you. I care about you. And was I hoping that you feel the same way about me."
"I do, Adam. Now what going to happen?"
"I don't know, maybe the assassin thinks you and your dad is dead and will leave you alone."
"I sure hope so."
Assassin
"So they live but not for long. I will get Drake and Kevin but how. I cannot let anybody know that I am the assassin. Drake, I think it time that you and I meet.'
Drake
I got out of the hospital and I was happy. I rushed home and my parents and Kevin greeted me.
My parents threw me a big dinner and I ate so much food that I had trouble breathing.
It went to sleep right after and so did everybody else.
I was the first one awake the next day and I went into the kitchen. As I walked in, I saw a note on the table.
Drake
If you want your family to live then you will meet me at the abandon warehoused. If you contact the police, I will kill your son. I am also watching you, so do not think that you can escape. Besides this is your one chance for revenge. Do you not want to kill the one that killed you wife?
Unknown
I grab my keys and rushed over there, I got there and it was still dark outside. The sun should be up in an hour. I looked around and I did not see anybody.
"Drake, is that you? What are you doing here?"
I turned my head and I saw Brandon, he was dresses in his doctor uniform. I was guess that he was heading to work and he was just passing by.
"Yeah but why are you here?"
"I live right over there," he pointed to his house about a block away, "and I was on my way to work. Now that I answered your question, maybe you can answer mine. Why are you here?"
"No reason, just taking a walk."
"Okay, be careful though. It gets a bit crazy here in the morning."
"I will," I said as I turn around. I was still looking for the assassin and then I froze when I heard a gun load. Then I felt a gun behind my head.
"Brandon, you are the assassin, why?"
"There only room for one in this family. Say goodbye Drake, forever. Don't worry, you will soon be with you wife."
Brandon pulled the trigger and a gunshot was so loud that it listened to from a mile away.
