Inktober day nine: Swing. A slightly more violent take on that word, and an excuse to get an under-used character of mine into a bit of writing.

"Be gone, foul demon!" the cleric shouted, wildly swinging his staff at the creature with black hide before him.

"Oh you poor fool," Osimaret responded. The demonic narwhal watched for a moment before casually grabbing the cleric's staff in one hand and tugging it away from the fool's hands. It took little effort for the demon to grab it in both hands and snap it in half like a twig.

Defenseless, the cleric slowly backpedaled, though Osimaret needed only one step for every three the cleric took backward. "What's the matter?" he mocked, "Did I break your little toy? Let me show you how it's really done." With that, he took one swing at the cleric, deliberately missing his nose by a centimeter.

"See? That's what you should be doing. None of the speech. One decisive action." Terrified, the cleric nodded vigorously in response. "Now get out of here. You're boring and you haven't yet done anything I can claim you for. Don't test my patience, mortal."

As soon as the final word left Osimaret's lips, the cleric turned tail and ran. All he heard from behind was the bass-heavy laughter of a demon, fading into the distance.
