#3 of The Interviews

The third part in my interviews, this time with Wolfie Goldie, Aren's pet wolf. You'd think there wouldn't be much to talk about with a wolf, but you'd be wrong.

The interviewer taps his foot on the floor. He's waiting for the next person of Noire Corp to walk in through the door. He swishes his orange tail. He pulls out a notepad and pen, looking over his notes. "Oh! Duh!" He quickly gets up and opens the door. A black wolf walks in and jumps on the chair. She sits down and follows the interviewer as he sits down.

"Okay, Wolfie Goldie. Occupation, Aren's pet." The interviewer jots down these details and sighs. "Why the wolf? Why are you important? This is all I got." Wolfie barks and wags her tail. "Well, this has been-"

Wolfie interrupts the interviewer with another bark and jumps up from her seat, somersaults in midair. A faint glow envelops her as she grows in size and loses most of her black fur. Her front paws transform into hands and skin appears where most of her fur was before, transforming into a black wolf canid. The light fades and she lands on the table, breaking it down the middle. She stands proud with her fists on her hips. "Ophelia 'Wuffie' Lanence, captain of the guard, at your service!"

The interviewer stumbles with his notes, jotting down what happened. "The captain of Noire Corp, the one that vanished twelve years ago?"

"The very same!" Wuffie sits back down on her chair. She crosses her legs and places her hands in her lap.

"Where have you been all this time?"

"Um, did you not see my transformation? And I was expecting more of a gasp! Shock!"

"To be fair, Aren was my first interview."

Wuffie snaps her fingers. "Darn! I was hoping I'd be the one to surprise and strike fear in you at what goes on in our world."

"You mean Noire Corp. didn't do this to you?"

"Nope! This was done by Aaron Goldie."

"Aren's father?"

"The very same." Wuffie stares at her hands and squeezes them, reminding herself that they're hands and not paws. "Noire suspected something was going amuck in that village, so she sent me to investigate."

"Why would Noire be interested in that village?"

"No idea, but might have something to do with the balance of the world. I don't ask, just follow orders. Anyway, I saw some weird energy coming from the Goldie's house. I gazed into the window to see what was going on. I didn't realize I was being watched myself and was captured instantly. Aaron has me strapped to a table. I tried to escape, but I was hit with a dark light and then nothing."

"You lost conscious?" The interviewer is swiftly writing down every detail Wuffie is saying while asking follow up questions.

"If you want to call it that, I'd call it a coma. I didn't regain consciousness for eleven years."

"So as Wolfie, you didn't remember anything that happened?"

"Not right away," Wuffie said, "When I came to, I was lying down in the original Noire Corp building. I suddenly remembered the last eleven years as Wolfie all in a flash as if I was reliving all of it again. I remembered coming to Noire Corp. with Aren on his first day. I got worried and started to follow his scent. I walked in the lab just as a dark light shot out of a laser.

"The same one from Aaron's laser?"

"The very same. I don't know what it was, but it brought me back as Wuffie."

"Why didn't they mention you were a survivor from when Nera destroyed the lab?" asked the interviewer.

"Because I changed back into Wolfie and sprinted. I was in the middle of the lab just as it was exploding. I didn't bother asking why I could change at will; I just used it to my advantage and got the hell out and back to my home."

"One last question. Does Aren know?"

"He doesn't," said Wuffie, "and I'd like to keep it that way for some time."

"You don't want him to know?"

"I'm the only thing he was allowed to take with him beside the clothes on his back when his dad kicked him out of the village. If he knew that I am employed here, who knows what that'll do to him."

The interviewer flips his notepad back to the beginning and writes in information about Aren that the nekomara didn't tell him. "I see."

Wuffie clasps her hands over her mouth. She stands up and sprints to the reporter. She grabs him by the collar and hoists him up. "You can't tell anyone about who I am, got it?" The interviewer nods. Wuffie releases her control on him. "Good." She jumps back up in the air and somersaults. Black fur grows on her skin and she shrinks in stature. Her hands become paws once again, transforming her back into Wolfie.

The interviewer quickly stands and opens the door for Wolfie. The wolf barks and wags her tail as she leaves. The interviewer slumps against the door, sighing. He opens his notepad and writes down brief notes. "Ophelia Lanence, captain of Noire Corp.'s guards. A werewolf who is actually Aren's pet wolf Wolfie from childhood. Aren has no idea who she really is. A conflict of interest between her loyalty to Aren and her loyalty to Noire Corp? Are they one in the same? Too many coincidences happening at this lab."

The interviewer stands up and adjusts his attire, making him presentable and calm. He opens the door and says, "Dr. Noire? I'd like a word with you."
