A/N: Yes, when your read further and get about halfway; there is a mention of a memory. Yes, a chapter will be written soon about this. This memory is actually my first memory and is a very hard thing for me to talk about, but it is essential to the story, so I must.

Also I'd like to thank Aresues for letting me use his character, Firolf, in my story.

Chiricov

Chapter 5

Fitch

Well, things were finally starting to turn my way. Nina and I were engaged and we were currently cruising at ninety-thousand feet at a speed ten times the speed of sound. It was almost unnerving how much more advanced Alpha Team was compared to the rest of the world, and even our own military.

It seemed longer, but we were only airborne for about fifteen minutes and we were on the opposite side of Ocea. The scramjets were shut down and we were slowing down. I looked out the window and smiled to myself. We over in the northern most part of Ocea, and my birthplace, November City.

We flew right over and continued at a sob-sonic speed for about five minutes. Then we began our decent. We touched down on the icy runway. This didn't look like the base of the most technologically advanced military in the world. I shrugged; I knew there was a surprise... but where.

Grimm stepped from the cockpit and presses a button near the door. A gel-like liquid seeped from the wings, coating them. Steam rose from the black wings and body as the liquid quickly cooled the aircraft down.

"Welcome to the far outskirts of November City. It is currently a whopping fifteen degrees Fahrenheit below zero. This tropical heat-wave will continue through the week as we expect another foot of snow this afternoon." Grimm said with much sarcasm in his voice. It was the first bit of humor we heard from either of them.

He opened the back ramp and the arctic air blew in. I crossed my arms over my chest and shivered. Grimm rummaged through the back of the strange Humvee and pulled out 3 parkas; tossing them to us as he jumped in the driver's seat of the vehicle.

"Load your stuff and get in." he ordered.

We did as we were told and hopped into the vehicle. We drove from the cargo hold of the vehicle and onto the icy runway. There was a mountain a few hundred feet from the runway. Dug into the mountain was a glass wall. I knew they had something advanced here. I looked back and saw the Falcon taxi off the runway and into the snow off to the side. Captain Monroe got out, closed the hatch and clicked a button on a keychain. The Falcon disappeared and cloaked itself in faded from view with the burst of electricity. We drove up to Monroe and he jumped into the passenger seat.

The vehicle, called a Puma, had miraculous handling and speed, even on this icy. With four wheel independent shocks, and steering we shredded across the surface of the icy runway. I looked over to my right; there was the eternally frozen surface of Lake Rinehart. Images of my first memory flashed into my head, that tragic day when I was only three years old. I could still see the ashes on the icy. I shook my head; trying to break free from the flashback.

(This Explanation Of The Tragic Events Will Be In A Future Chapter)

We turned of the runway and headed to a concrete arch which stood as the marker for the paved tunnel built into the base of the mountain. The tunnel was lit by bright LED Bar light. The harsh light illuminated everything inside the tunnel. After about thirty feet of tunnel, the area widened greatly as we had entered the motor pool. About seventy-five, perfectly parked Pumas were there, including some other strange vehicles. We parked in one of the available spaces, and got out.

"Leave your stuff here. We'll get it after you've been situated." Grimm said.

"Okay" I nodded.

We walked through a set of double doors and down a well lit hallway. This place had it all; finger print scanners on all the doors, which slid instead of opened. Monroe motioned to an elevator door and placed his thumb on the scanner.

"Captain Monroe... Access Granted" the computer spoke in a feminine voice.

The doors opened, we entered, and Monroe pushed the button for the seventeenth floor. The elevator flew up the shaft and we were at the seventeenth floor in about three seconds. The doors slide open; before us was a short, maybe twenty foot hallway, with a single door at the end.

"This is your stop" Monroe said, "The Director awaits you."

Monroe and Grimm stayed in the elevator; the doors closed and we walked down the hallway. We reached the door and Trey knocked loudly on it. A raspy voice came from within.

"Enter." The voice coughed.

We exchanged glances and opened the door. The office was not a big as I expected, only what one person would need. There, though, sitting in a rather plain office chair, was a middle aged grey wolf, scarred from past numerous battles. He had an eye patch over one eye; above and below the eye patch was a long scar that stretched down his face. His right ear was half missing. I saw the cause of his raspy voice; an ashtray and a pack of cigarettes sat on the table.

"Good evening Gentlemen... and gentlewoman" He said, looking surprised to see a female in his office.

"Evening, Sir." We replied.

"Well, I guess I should introduce myself. I am General Fitch. Although I do request that you, like all members here, just stick to Fitch." He said stretching out his paw. We each shook it.

"A pleasure, Sir." Trey said. "I am Trey; this is Nina; and this here is Chiricov, our team leader."

He nodded his acknowledgement.

"So as I'm sure Hummel already briefed you on; you will soon no longer exist. All records of you will be wiped and you will be given a new identity. Now, to keep is fairly easy, you keep your full name, but there will just be no record of you whatsoever. So if you wouldn't mind... please enter some general info so we can locate you in our databases." He said, producing a laptop and sliding it towards us.

I entered my info, as did Trey and Nina. I nodded to Fitch. He stood up and walked around to the computer.

"As of now..." he said clicking the delete button and our profiles disappeared from the screen, "you no longer exist."

We looked at the monitor and then at him and nodded.

"Well now that, that's settled, let me do the honor of introducing you to the newest member of your team, because all teams are a team of four. I am assigning you another member." He said. Then there was a knock on the door.

"Enter." He said.

The door opened and in stepped a big tan colored sand dragon. He approached us and held out his clawed paw.

"Hello, I'm Firolf"

We shook paws and introduced ourselves. When Nina introduced herself, Firolf was, like Fitch, taken back at the sight of a woman in Alpha.

"Well, Ma'am. It is a pleasure to meet you." He said in a charming tone, kissing her hand.

I clenched my fist as Firolf flirted with Nina. I placed my paw heavily on Firolf's shoulder and pulled him back from Nina.

"Hey! What the heck?!" Firolf said in surprise and slight anger.

I glared at him, then at Nina, then back to him. I lifted my ringed finger and flashed the ring in front of his face. He seemed to get the message. Fitch was taken back at this revelation of partnership.

"Gee, man, I'm sorry... I didn't know." Firolf said apologetically but with a hint of jealousy and bitterness.

"Sooooo..." Fitch drew out, "you two?"

I looked at him and gave a large nod.

"Well... congratulations." He said genuinely. "At least she has someone to look after her. She's the first female soldier in Alpha History. I'd hate to see anything happen because of her sex, but you're here, so..."

"Anyways... your four will have a suite room. An apartment divided into four sections with a common room in the middle. Every team gets one and every team lives as a family in one... Ok, people, that's all for now. Dismissed."

We turned to walk out. We were just about to leave when Fitch spoke again.

"Chiricov... a word please." Fitch said. "The rest of you wait outside. This will only take a minute."

"Yes, Sir?" I said, walking to his desk.

"Chiricov... this relationship with Nina... this won't affect your duties, will it?

"Sir, you can rest assured that, my fiancé she may be, but this relationship will not affect anything." I said.

"Well I sure hope not." He paused, "Ok Chiricov... that is all... dismissed."

I turned on my heel and walked out of the room.

"What was that all about?" Nina asked.

"Nothin'... don't worry about it." I said reassuringly. Kissing her on the forehead.

"Well, let's get going. We'll sleep and move our stuff in here tomorrow night." I said, as we walked into the place, where we'd make a residence.
