Vengance of the Swarm
With Pigma dead and the aparoid swarm in retreat there was nothing left to do but tend to the wounded and cure the infected, Fang was among the relief squads as were the rest of the team and after so many years mobotropolis was back to the war torn state it was in during the great war which brought Fang so many unhappy memories but all that was quickly brushed off as he saw one of the guards approach him.
"My prince we've assembled all the bodies."
"Any of them infected?"
"Unfortunately...."
"Burn them..."
Infection could not be risked on the planet, especially after what happened on sauria. While Fang attended to his duties Tamati went to check on Ammy in the medical wing and what he saw was horrifying, soldiers and innocent people were barely clinging to life and were fighting off the infection as screams and moans of pain filled the room.
"Ammy? you here?"
Tamati looked all around as he walked through the rows of patients, among them was a little girl whose parents were crying as he saw that she had been infected and decided to deactivate his damaged armor and help out with the nurses as he saw one of them rushing by with a cart full of medical supplies.
"Nurse!"
"Yes sir?"
"This kid needs the antidote stat! i'll handle the cart."
"Yes sir!"
While the nurse took care of the child Tamati went around changing the sheets of the empty beds and providing some meds for some of the patients until finally he bumped into Ammy who had just come out of the operation chamber, her vest covered in both red and purple blood.
"Ammy! you alright?"
"It's alright it's the patients blood....she didn't make it..."
Being a medic it was heartbreaking to lose a patient as Tamati comforted her with a hug and wrapping one of his tails around her waist, then Ammy noticed a cut on Tamatis arm which seemed to have been there for a while judging by the dried blood.
"Tamati! you shouldn't be so careless!"
"Huh? *notices wound* hm didn't know I had that-hey!!"
"Come on let's get you patched up."
Ammy took her mate to an empty desk where the wound was cleaned and bandaged and after a moment of silence Ammy smiled and kissed her lover for a short moment.
"You alright?"
"I'm fine it's just...."
"What?"
"Tamati.....i'm pregnant..."
Tamatis eyes filled with shock as she brought his hand to her belly and from what he could feel the child had been growing for at least a week. Tamati suddenly needed to catch his breath as he brushed back some of his hair then turned his back to Ammy.
"Tamati?!? are you alriiiAAAH!!"
Tamati suddenly plucked her off the ground and spun her around laughing with joy, soon she joined in and could tell he was very happy.
"So you're not upset?"
"How can I be upset knowing that THIS is the happiest day of my life?"
Tamati held his mate as he kissed her and soon news reached the others but not only for her but Krystal as well and she was carrying twins. A small celebration was held on the great fox as Fang brought in a small barrel for the boys to drink while the girls simply stuck to juice and whatever cravings their pregnancies were giving them.
"My grandfathers finest mead, careful it's strong."
Fang poured a few glasses as they all made a toast to being new fathers, the celebration was going well until Tamati suddenly began to feel dizzy and leaned himself against the table catching Fox's attention.
"Hey you alright?"
"Guess Fang wasn't kidding about the mead....I need some sleep."
"Yeah it is getting late."
After cleaning up the party mess the team went to their quarters for a good nights rest but something was wrong with Tamati, in his sleep he could hear voices echoing inside his head nearly forcing him to scream and in his dreaming state the wound on his arm suddenly began to give off a purple glow and as his eyes slowly opened they began to glow as well as he grabbed thunder edge and headed for Fangs quarters.
Fang was busy finishing the repairs on his and Tamatis armor while having his second cup of mead, then he noticed Tamati standing behind him holding thunder edge and his head was faced down.
"Tamati? what're you doing here-WHOA!!"
Fang narrowly dodged thunder edge cleaving off his head and thankfully he kept foe reaver close as he grabbed it off the wall to defend himself.
"TAMATI!! what's-?!?.....no...no not you-OOF!!"
Fang was kicked five feet away after locking blades with Tamati for a short second and as he regained his vision he saw the purple glow in his eyes as well as his arm and as Tamati looked at his friend he only spoke two words raising thunder edge against him.
"Vengance for the swarm...."
"Tamati please!!!-GAH!!"
Infected or not Tamati was still Fangs friend but no matter what Fang did he could not reach him and was forced to fight at full strength pinning Tamati to the ground and raising his sword ready to end their fight.
"GRRRGH!.....I...I can't..."
As Fang laid his sword down and turned his face the other way Tamati unsheathed a knife hidden in his boot and stabbed him in the left shoulder then making a run for his armor but not before noticing the others had heard the racket caused by the fight.
"Fang!"
"STOP HIM!!! HE'S INFECTED!!!"
"WHAT?!?"
Ignoring the pain from his wound Fang charged at Tamati only to be slammed away by his right arm as he quickly activated the armor and blasted off leaving a huge hole in the hangar door.
"Tamati...."
Hours later Ammy laid in her room crying knowing she had lost the father of her unborn baby but unlike Fara she knew she wasn't going to have the pleasure of having him come back alive, as she laid there in sadness Fang entered the room with his shoulder bandaged as he kneeled in front of her.
"Ammy....I promise no matter what it takes I WILL bring Tamati back...I swear to you not as a prince or a dragon knight...but a friend."
"....Thank you..."
Ammy hugged him knowing he would be able to keep his promise while on a distant part of the planet Tamati found the remaining aparoid swarm and boarded an infested ship heading to the next planet.
