Jack woke up with a start and quickly looked at the clock hanging near the kitchen. 9:32 a.m. Swearing under his breath, he quickly dragged his pants and shirt on before grabbing his deck and swiftly editted it. After putting it into his deck box, he stepped into his shoes and grabbed a chocolate granola bar before rushing out of the door. As he ate and ran, he briefly thought about last night and it's pleasures. Hopefully, they'd know where to find him before he got too far into the competition.

Soon, he found himself at the registration gate and looked at the time. 9:56 a.m. Just barely on time. He turned to the registration officer and asked if he could have his dual disk. He gave his name and his ID number before he was handed his dual disk. After he put it on his left wrist, the fox put his deck into the appropriate slot and walked into the center of the park.

The bell tolled and he briefly thought of Metallica's For Whom The Bell Tolls before the massive screens turned on and a dragon stood there, commanding everyone's attention. Jack knew who this guy was, and also knew why he'd be hosting this kind of tournament.

Drake was a very rich black dragon, who's deck was near impossible to beat and was hosting this tournament to test out the flaws in the new dual disks and to give the winner a huge lump sum of money.

"Good morning everyone," the winged scaley said in a raspy voice. "I trust you all had a good night's sleep. As you see, the new dual disk is equipped so that it can project holoimages. However, every detail about the monster is programmed into the device. You will smell, hear, and even feel each creature as they appear, grunt, and attack you or your opponents."

The camera slid away from Drake, revealing that he was dressed in all red, true to the common belief that he preferred red to show that he meant serious business and took every match to the extreme. Jack took a glance at dual disk on his wrist and knew he'd have to truly be at the top of his game to win this. Everyone heard the flaring of the leathery wings that the black dragon had and looked back to the moniters.

"Also, you will need a total of five victories, recorded by your dual disk, before you are given the location to the final arena. Also, to make this more fair, I will be participating in this competition, and I will make it to the end. If any of you believe you have a shot against me, I expect you to be among the best, or you will be beaten very quickly. The first eight competitors to win five duals and make it to the final arena will be the finalists. Also, you may enact the rule that I prefer in any tournament of taking any card from your defeated foe's deck. Happy dualing."

The dragon grinned toothily just before the monitors turned off and Jack heard two people calling to him. He turned around and saw Fran and Brad, neither of them with dual disks, but dressed how they were last night, Fran in a tight tank top and a miniskirt, Brad with just some tight pants on. He also caught sight of Spencer, already in a heated dual with his Crystal Beasts. The fox chuckled as he felt something small placed into his paw. He looked at it and saw that it was his MP3, filled with upbeat songs from various Rock/Metal bands.

After attaching it to his hip and placing the ear buds in correctly, he looked at the female cougar and smiled in thanks before getting a quick kiss on the cheek. The fox turned around and stared at a massive rhino, who was ready to get this match underway. He activated his dual disk and prepared himself.

"Time for payback you bitch!" the rhino yelled as he activated his own dual disk.

"What do you mean?"

"Two years ago, you beat my unstoppable water deck. Now, it's time to get my revenge."

"You're water deck was poorly built, I doubt you have improved, but, I won't turn you away."

As the rhino growled and their dual disks read 8000 LP, Jack turned on his MP3, which started blaring Monster by Skillet. He grinned as he pulled his hand, letting the rhino go first. All he did was set a monster, the hologram showing a card face down, the scent like that of a freshly opened pack. Jack drew his card and looked at his hand. The fox summoned Mirage Dragon and equipped it with Black Pendant and sent his dragon to attack the face down, the image showing a tall dragon with a pendant around it's left arm, the face down revealing itself to be Island Turtle, but with Mirage Dragon's attack beefed up to 2100, it was soon dust from the Mirage Breath.

The rhino growled angrily and drew his card. He set another creature before ending his turn. As the vulpine drew his next card, he marveled at how beautiful Mirage Dragon truly was. He set a monster and sent Mirage Dragon to attack again, destroying the rhino's defense. The enraged furry looking like Enraged Battle-Ox drew his next card and grinned as he played Level Limit - Area B, shifting his Mirage Dragon into defense position. He set another creature and ended his turn.

Jack drew his next card, hoping to get rid of the continuous spell card. He grinned as he played Stamping Destruction, getting rid of the Level Limit and dealing 500 damage to the rhino's LP, leaving him at 7500. After switching Mirage Dragon back to attack position, he attacked the face down, Freezing Beast, and ended his turn. His fuming foe spurted angry curses, but the fox didn't hear them due to his MP3 playing Monster over and over. He drew his next card, set a card in his spell/trap card zone, then special summoned Fenrir and set another monster before sending Fenrir to attack the vulpine's face down monster. Crimson Ninja was destroyed, but not before taking the face down trap card the rhino had.

The fox had to skip his next draw phase, thanks to Fenrir's ability, and settled for attacking it, dealing 700 damage to the rhino, bringing him down to 6800 LP. The rhino drew his next card, growling in rage. All he could do was set another monster, hoping he could outlast the fox for awhile longer. Jack drew his awaiting card and attacked the new monster, Serpentine Princess, destroying it and ending his turn.

The rhino drew his card and set another monster, building up his defensive wall. The fox drew his next card and set it in his spell/trap zone, attacking the older defensive monster, ending his turn after T.A.D.P.O.L.E. was sent to the graveyard. The rhino drew his next card and grinned, summoning Granadora, increasing his LP by 1000, having his total now at 7800, and equipped it with Megamorph. He then flip summoned Skull Mariner and sent Granadora to attack Mirage Dragon, normally destroying it. The vulpine activated his Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying Megamorph before the attack could be completed, bringing Granadora back down to it's normal 1900 attack.

When the rhino ended, unable to defend himself, Jack drew his next card. He set another trap and attacked Skull Mariner, bringing his angry foe down to 7300 before ending his turn. The rhino drew his next card and played it, Nightmare's Steelcage, which the vulpine countered with Magic Drain. He switched his Granadora into defense mode, the ugly hologram following the command. The fox drew another card and set it before destroying Granadora, it's second ability kicking in, lowering the rhino's Life Points to 5300.

The rhino drew his next card and ended, knowing he wouldn't win now. After Jack drew his next card, he summoned Exiled Force and equipped it with Malevolent Nuzzler and Fusion Sword Murasame Blade, increasing it's attack to 2500, then equipped Mirage Dragon with Dragon Treasure, increasing it's attack to 2400. The holograms showed Mirage Dragon with Black Necklace around it's left arm while holding the orb with it's right claws, Exiled Force being nuzzled by the seductive succubus that was Malevolent Nuzzler while they weilded the Murasame Blade. The fox attacked with a combined total of 4900, bringing the rhino to 400 easily, who was knocked back by the combined force.

When he got to his feet, he drew his next card and grinned, summoned Tribe-Infecting Virus and playing Riryoku, sapping half of Exiled Force's attack and making the card 1250 attack. Then, the Virus attacked Exiled Force, destroying it quickly and dealing 1600 points of damage to Jack, who was now at 6400 LP. When the rhino ended his turn, he realized his flaw and his face began to show it. Jack drew the last card of the match, and glared at the rhino.

"Mirage Dragon, attack Tribe-Infecting Virus with Mirage Blast!" the fox yelled as his ear buds fell out, hearing the loud roar before the massive blast flew out, destroying the Virus and defeating the rhino.

As the rhino fell to his knees in both defeat and pain, Jack's dual disk clicked as it read 1 dual won before shutting of the holoimaging. The fox walked to the rhino and patted his shoulder, softly saying, "You need to think about stragedy more and offense less. Without stragedy, all the strength is is just for show." After the vulpine said his words, he walked towards the rest of the city, wondering what challenges awaited him.
