#2 of A New Town, A New Life.

Well despite the luke warm reaction to the first chapter I have decided to post chapter 2, please, if you love or loathe the story tell me in the coments section, as a writer I need to know that my work is at least being read. Obviously if you feel so inclined you can also vote and fave it too, the votes and faves will be very much appreciated.

Please enjoy.

Dale and I finish our breakfast and then head out from the diner, I begin to head towards my car when Dale calls me back.

"No need to use the car bud, the newspaper office is literally across the street which is why I get to eat my breakfast at the diner every day before work."

I look at the building opposite and sure enough, there is a decent sized sign above the door with The Deansville Gazette stencilled out in an easy to read typeface, I rub a paw over my face to try to hide my embarrassment (in my defence my eyes were trained on something much more interesting when we left the diner as evident from my growing boner), 'For the love of god Jason get your mind and eyes off Dale's beautiful ass'.

"Sorry, Dale I guess I was even more tired than I thought."

Did Dale take the bait and accept my explanation? Or did he know the real reason why I hadn't seen the sign for the newspaper office and was now just playing along? I mean shit I really want to get inside his oh so tight black jeans and pay his ass some attention but I know that that could be the quickest way to ruin my chances of getting a job and being able to settle in the town of Deansville.

Dale just chuckles a little and we cross the street and head inside the office of The Deansville Gazette. As we step inside Dale calls out a name.

"Yo Chase, you decent?"

I look at Dale with slight confusion on my muzzle.

"Oh sorry bud, Chase Grainger is the bossman, and for a small newspaper like this that means that he's the editor and the guy who is in charge of sales, my job is working on the printing side so I guess you can call me the distributor, I'm also a reporter, so I find the news and then Chase edits it and then I print it, so between the two of us we are chief cook and bottle washer."

Suddenly the hulking form of a Shire Horse appears behind the counter, in a gruff voice, he makes his reply.

"I ain't ever decent punk, you know that but as you always say we'll make do, anyway, who is your shadow?"

Dale flips his boss the bird and really I can't tell if it is just playfull banter between them or something more sinister, Dale gives his answer.

"Ya know boss we been talking about draggin' the gazette into the 21st century kicking and schreaming well the guy at my side might just be able to help us do it, Mr Chase Grainger I would like you to meet Mr Jason Hawk."

I hold out my right paw and the Horse engulfs it with his right hand, his grip is strong but not crushingly so.

"It's good to meet you Mr Hawk, and don't worry about the light hearted banter between me and bubble butt, he can give as good as he takes."

Oh shit, why did he have to say the words bubble butt, give and take, now I am going to be undressing Dale at every chance I get.

"As bubble butt says, we are looking to try and reach out to more readers and in these days of the internet it seems that is the way to go, now I am willing to give you a shot at designing a webpage for the gazette but I also want you to transcribe the stories from the newspaper onto the website, does that sound like something that you can handle?"

I give thought to my options, I could put down roots in Deansville and get myself a job here at the local newspaper, or I could carry on driving down the road until I find another town or village that feels right.

"Thanks for the offer Mr Grainger, and I think I would like to take you up on it."

There is a beaming smile on the faces of both the Shire Horse and Dale, in truth Dale helped me come to my decision or should that be cum? Anyway I digress, the next town or village would probably have no jobs and most certainly they wouldn't have had a beautiful bubble assed male Rottweiler for me to hopefully get to know a lot better.

The squeaking of some old hinges brings my mind back to the here and now, Chase has opened up a flap in the counter to allow Dale and I further into the office.

"Now Jason, Dale and I run an informal ship here as you can tell so if you have a problem with that then maybe this ain't the place for you, don't let the door hit you on the way out, but if our informality doesn't frighten you then welcome to The Deansville Gazette. I'm not going to lie to you son your job won't be that well paid yet, we have to see how things take off."

I shrug a little as I make my reply.

"To be honest sir I mean Chase I'm just looking for somewhere to blend into the background and so at the moment money is not my main concern, obviously I will need to try and find somewhere to stay until I can find a permanent address."

Just as I finish my sentence Dale jumps into the conversation.

"No need to look too hard bud, I have a spare room that you can use while you get settled."

There was something about the way he jumped into the conversation, the speed and the way that there was a slight stutter present that I had never noticed before, should I call him out on it? Or do I just see how far this will play out? I decide to allow the scenario play out and I accept Dale's gracious offer.

"Thanks, Dale, I'll take you up on that offer but I won't be a freeloader, I want to pay something towards my room and board."

I hear a slight chuckle mixed with a cough from Chase's muzzle but I pay it no mind, Chase then clears his throat and speaks.

"Okay, well at the moment it's a quiet news day so why don't you both head home so that Jason can get settled in to the spare room, I've got Dale's cell and home number so if I need you I'll call you."

Dale and I head out from the office and climb into our respective vehicles, again as Dale climbs into his driving seat I take one final look at his perfect ass, I then follow him out of the diner's parking area. I guess we have been driving for some ten minutes when he turns left onto a dirt road, again I follow him down the dirt road until we stop outside a single storey wooden cabin.

The place looks to be well maintained and cared for and has no other neighbours around, there is a forest behind the cabin and because it is set back from the main road all you can hear is a slight breath of wind and the birds singing happily in the trees.

Some would find this kind of silence irritating and possibly even a little uncomfortable, but for me, it is something that I crave. I take in the views all around me and then I am brought out of my trance by the sound of Dale's voice.

"You okay Jason?"

I turn to face Dale and make my reply.

"Sorry bud it's just this is my idea of heaven."

Dale comes closer to me and I now know that all this time he has just been playing along.

"Jason, let's put our cards on the table, I didn't want to say anything earlier for fear of alienating you but now there is just the two of us and so you can be brutally honest with me, and don't worry, I won't give you a black eye, when we first met this morning I thought I caught you having a good look at my ass, I also noticed that you have had a couple of decent boners during the day, is there something that I need to know?"

Well, there is the best cure for a raging hard on, ice cold water that comes with a very loaded question. Fuck I'm so screwed.
