Chapter 76: Embracing Demons Part I

Day 180 (11:05 PM, The south tunnel)

"Who goes there!!" The guard watching the south entrance to the lost city said as the blue and silver prototypes pulled up.

"It is just us Ananias." Lady Barq said greeting the silver gorilla.

"Your missions, I trust it they were successful?" The warrior asked eyeing us very carefully.

"They were long is what they were." The bear knight said greeting him. "But successful."

"We treated as many as we could find." The black and white badger added.

"Hey Ananias, I heard you walked into the infirmary a couple of days ago looking for me." I said climbing out of the blue coupe.

"Yes." The warrior said sheathing his scythes.

"Did you miss me?" I said smiling at him.

"What? No!" He responded rather indignantly.

"Yes you did! Come here! Bring it in!" I said as I pounced on him.

*ACK*

"Of all the? What are you doing?" He gasped at the unprovoked display of affection.

"See not an Other, nor are you. Wow, your fur is soft!" I said running my hands through his furred chest.

The two female knights broke out into so much laughter at the silverback's embarrassment.

"You will have to forgive him, he has been on a gorilla hugging spree lately." Lady Barq said wiping the tears from her eyes as she tried to regain some sense of composure.

"What is that on your arm boy?" The he beast asked looking downward.

"This was a gift from the nomadic colony. It is my new weapon a retractable grappling hook."

"Very interesting." The silver back said examining it. "Sharp tip."

"It can be used for scaling or impaling." I said.

"Bring it to sparing practice I would very much like to see it in action." Ananias said granting us passage.

We made our way in from the maze to the outskirts of the city and eventually our home where we found Corbin and Shakara awaiting for us on the stoop as we pulled in.

"Momma bear!! Momma badger!!" The little mongoose said running to hug the female knights. "Welcome home!"

"Corbin." My brown bear said hugging the little boy.

"Corbin!" The muscular badger said grasping him from the arms of her rival.

"He's mine Barq." My perfect person said grabbing him back.

"No he's mine." The badger said grabbing him back.

"Make that neither you both are soiled, dusty, dirty and grimy." The mongoose boy observed.

"Um, there were some complications...." Lady Barq said.

"And conflict." My warrior bear added.

"So you had to bust some heads?" The little mongoose asked the female warriors.

"Quite a few." The bear and badger answered in unison.

"Shakara!" I said pouncing on my devious person.

"I missed you too little cutie...."

I cut off the red eyed lioness mid sentence with a deep passionate kiss. "I missed you so did our bear." I said looking back at the female warriors grabbing the mongoose boy back and forth between them.

"It looks like it is going to be awhile you know how competitive those two can get." Shakara said.

My lioness was wearing a modest clothing- a white shirt and black shorts if that.

"Momma bear, momma badger there is enough of me to go around!" Corbin protested.

"You will have to forgive her. Addy and Russell decided to stay with the nomadic colony so she doesn't have anyone to room with anymore." My bear said to her 'cub'.

"I have been staying with the Commander since the professor disappeared. Would you like for me to stay with you?"

"I would like that a lot Corbin." The badger said petting the boy on his head.

"With that, let's hit the soaking pool." I said making my way to the central building.

Shakara and Corbin followed us inside, up to the second floor, the bathrooms there where after bathing we entered Corey's creation and just relaxed.

"AHHHH!!! This is one thing you can't get in World Two." I said reclining between Ursa and Barq. The mongoose and the lioness decided to soak with us.

"How has everything been while we were away?" The badger asked.

"There haven't been any new cases of the rash affliction." Shakara said lounging. "But I am concerned about Ruth Ann. She has become increasingly depressed. I think she misses her husband."

"So what would you recommend counselor?" The badger said staring down the dark tan lioness.

"That will be hard- what do you say to someone who's mate is most likely an Other?" Shakara said.

The group thought about it for a moment before the mongoose boy responded.

"Tell him that he better not forget their anniversary?"

Shakara, Ursa, Barq and myself gave my little brother a curious glance.

"Two new residents joined our community a human couple who were hiding out near the stadium." Shakara said.

"Not too smart." The badger said to the lioness. "They were very fortunate that they weren't devoured."

"After the two were debriefed they realized how much danger they were in." The horny lioness said.

"Um, anyway the Wilds started building our community garden." The little mongoose boy said recovering from his bad joke. "Pretty soon we will be growing our own fruits and vegetables!"

"Once a rotation is started and guard duty is established." My bear said.

"Oh and it looks like our resident mountain reed buck and red deer are getting serious."

"Due tell." I said.

"Well..." My lioness said as that broad feline grin appeared.

"When ever we see them- they are always kissing." The little boy said.

"Something will come from that." The badger said reclining.

"Corey and Rumble have also gotten quite smug." Shakara said. "I think our teen is fantasizing he is a werewolf while with his werewolf."

"Those two have grown very close the past few months." My lady bear observed.

"So how was World Two?" My lioness said grabbing our bear's arm.

"Yeah, yeah tell us everything!" Corbin said splashing.

"Still as dangerous as ever the badger warrior said yawning. Excuse me."

"It is late Barq." Lady Ursa said to her friend.

"World Two has not changed much since the last time you were there Shakara the knight core has been dwindled down to three; they are incapable of maintaining order. However there is a new resistance movement." Our warrior bear said.

"Lady Keiko's twin sister has formed a resistance cell. It is comprised of the friends you made there last time." Lady Barq added.

"She has been personally training this group for sometime. We even went on one of their missions to rescue Theresa Branch's sister." I volunteered.

"Did they save her?" My lioness asked.

"No but they did find and rescue Sura, the singer with our assistance." The female badger said to the lioness.

"WOW." Corbin exclaimed.

"To pay us back the group provided security while we were treating the afflicted." I said.

"It is a good thing they were because our clinic was attacked by The Horde." My perfect person volunteered.

"They were trying to steal the medicine we brought and obtain more offerings for the entity." Lady Barq said recounting the events.

"Kala and her vigilantes repelled the attack, captured seven members of the group including their leader and protected our patients." The brown bear said to the lioness and mongoose.

"That's outstanding my lady." Ms. Kubari said placing her head on Lady Ursa's shoulder.

"It was a big win for the knights and a devastating loss for The Horde. Many of their victims were impressed by the courageousness of Kala, Mitsa, Lune, Oliver, Theresa, Sura, Luck and Nezera."

"Wait, who are Luck and Nezera?" Corbin asked.

"Well you remember when we first met Mitsa she was pregnant? Well Luck is her son." I said to my little brother.

"And Nezera?" My lioness said eyeing me carefully.

"Well you remember that vampire bat that tried to feed off you?" I said making circles in the water with my finger.

"You mean that horrid creature that took advantage of my depression and tried to suck me dry?"

I nodded. "That is the same person."

"WHAT?!" Shakara said nearly losing it.

"She now only gorges off of the group's enemies. The rest of her victims she sips from allowing her to return to her again and again without killing." I said spinning it.

"Fascinating!" The little mongoose boy said.

"Or so she claims." The lioness said crossing her arms and placing them over her fantastic tatas.

TEN HOURS EARLIER....

KALA!! KALA!! KALA!! KALA!!

"It appears that you have fans." Lady Barq said to the leader of the vigilantes.

"No we do." Lady Keiko's sister said observing the crowd of thirty seven.

"Vicious, Fierce, Ferocious, Voracious, Renegade, Slash you are a blight against this city." Ceil said to the former members of The Horde.

"So what are you going to do now spank us?" The Zee-donk said looking at the turtle sarcastically.

"It is true we don't have holding facilities to keep you, but I am sure we can find some place." Faust added.

"No." Iggy said.

"Sir?" Faust and Ceil said in unison.

"We don't have the space nor is it likely that they would change their ways either...."

"Sir what are you saying?" The turtle said.

"We can use them to our advantage." The lizard said. "Kala has the right idea. If we are going to survive this we need to form alliances in order to take back the city."

"Sir?" The gecko said.

"We are going to find some creatures boys and make a deal with them... if they help us in our crusade we will keep them well fed."

"How are we going to do that sir? Supplies are scarce as it is." The gecko said looking at his superior.

The lizard looked wickedly at the captured zonkey, capybara, warthog, avian, marble fox, orange dragon and their deceased human companion.

"I like how you think sir." The turtle said. "I guess that means my retirement is canceled."

"Everyone! Please hear me! Starting today this area of Market and Center street will become a true Oasis; a safe zone where every creature whether they be beastial, human or something in between can find safety and refuge from that which blights our city!" The female gorilla announced.

"It will be difficult but a line in the sand must be drawn! No more!" Mitsa said standing next to the female gorilla.

"We will fight back against the darkness starting right here, right now!!" Theresa shouted.

"KALA!!! KALA!! KALA!! KALA!!" The crowd chanted.

"Join us now and help us defend the oasis!" Oliver said. "Help us push back against the long night!

"Yes help us rekindle the light of civilization!" Lune said.

SIX HOURS AGO....

"Well Kala you have quite the team here." My warrior bear said shaking the vigilante leader's paw.

"As do you knight. You, Lady Barq and the boy robbed the entity of securing potential vessels today.

"Good." I said hugging the she gorilla.

"Alright boy ease off." She said petting me on the head.

"I wish you success on your quest Kala." I said to her.

"Indeed you have very difficult road ahead." Barq said.

"It does help that our numbers swelled after bringing down part of The Horde." Mitsa said joining the conversation.

"So we now have the staffing to guard this block at all times." Lune said.

"Yes from all enemies weak and formidable." Theresa added.

"That is good because there are a lot of them out there." I said glumly.

"We will offer what assistance we can..." Lady Barq said.

"Right, but we are far out of communication range from your colony." Oliver said.

"So we are on our own." The pretty lady bat said looking at the penguin. "Trust me we will manage."

"So you decided to put in with this group?" The female bear said to the she penguin.

"Yes, there are a lot of damaged souls around. I am needed here." Penny said looking at the group that had congregated around the training hall. "By the way your daughter, how is she?"

"Still waiting to be born." My perfect person said to the penguin.

"Madam knight?"

"I decided to put off my pregnancy. My daughter has been placed in suspended animation."

"I see with everything that has happened. It is a difficult time to raise young." She said eyeing the female dalmatian holding her son.

"You decided to remain with them Sura?" Lady Barq asked the brown rabbit.

"This would be best for me at the moment." The pop singer said. "I think I am one of Penny's damaged souls."

"I see." That badger warrior commented.

"They could also use a morale technician to keep their spirits up around here. Also I hear our new healer is a good counselor too. Perhaps we can counsel each other."

Lady Barq, Lady Ursa and I started saying our goodbyes to Kala and the vigilantes as we prepared to make our way back to the lost city.

"It was great seeing you again and meeting Luck." I said to the dalmatian family. "Any you two as well." I said to the wildlife researchers. "All of you be well."

"We will try not to perish between now and your next visit." Theresa said winking.

"You seven performed splendidly." The she badger said shaking paws with the she gorilla."

"But by doing so you have increase your team's responsibilities." I added.

"It would help if we had magnificent hover vehicles like yours." The she dalmation said holding her son.

"Now Mitsa you know Lady Barq, Lady Ursa need those vehicles to protect their colony." Theresa said.

"But still if we had half the weaponry they had...." Oliver Justice said wistfully.

"We can't do that." My bear knight said. "But we can share what we collected on the enemy and our knowledge of organic weaponry."

"Perhaps Theresa and Oliver can modify their truck for extra defense." I added.

Before leaving Lady Ursa, Lady Barq and myself sat down with Kala and her team for the mother of all debriefings.

"You nine are in a precarious position." Lady Barq said

"You mean that it is us against all that is out there." Penny said nervously.

"True but your most dangerous enemy is not gangs or the monsters out there it is the entity that conquered the empire, a faceless being whose minions can infiltrate your group and destroy it from the inside." My bear said.

"Not to worry- you have a damn good minion detector." The mother pitbull said jumping into the meeting.. "She is pretty good at it."

(She joined them too?)

"That is our Nezera." Lune added. "Hey we were praising you. Where are you going?"

"I am hungry." The lady bat said standing.

"But you already fed!" I said to her as she started to leave.

"That was hours ago. Not to worry, there is food nearby; a few orphans not far from here one of them- a little boy... his blood is most delicious. I feed off of him every now again." The grey bat said.

"I did not hear that!" I said as I covered my ears and eyes disgusted.

NOW....

"Fascinating so they made a protectorate, a safe zone from what ails the city and they guard it fiercely." Corbin said.

"That is right, like us they carved a piece off from the insanity and chaos and are defending it." The bear said to her cub.

"With everything going on in World Two how long can they hold out?" Shakara asked.

"If Kala is anything like her sister, her vigilantes will ever so slowly start picking away at what is left of The Horde, then go after The Circle, and perhaps entity worshipers, rejects, monsters and maybe even the walkers." I said.

"She has a long difficult road ahead." The little mongoose boy concluded.

(Lady Keiko would be so proud.)

"But in all the mission was a success." Shakara said rising from the soaking pool.

"Yes we made a difference in World Two and World Three." I said proudly.

"You did little cutie but what about the rest?"

"The rest Shakara?" My lady bear said perking up.

"Yes what about those suffering from the affliction in World One and World Four?" The red eyed lioness asked.

(Yes, no matter what contributions we make, there is more to give.)

Day 181 (Evening, Milton's home)

"I am very uncomfortable being here." I said to my bear and lioness.

"I agree too pet, we should give Milton and his girlfriend privacy." My fierce ursine warrior said trying to remain straight faced. But I knew underneath that brown fur of hers she was blushing.

"It is alright little cutie, big cutie." Shakara said reassuring both of us.

"Big cutie Shakara?" Lady Ursa said raising an eyebrow as she stared at the horny lioness.

"Now mistress, you needed a pet name she could call you too- a term of endearment instead of my lady all the time. It is kind of tiring." I said grasping her left paw.

"But I liked how she addressed me; it was very formal." My perfect person said as half of the our community entered our host's modest home he shared with his girlfriend. The crowd made its way joining the three of us in his bedroom.

"This is a joyous occasion and Milton wanted to share it with all his closest friends our we not?" My dark tan lioness asked.

"We are." I said grasping her right paw with my left hand.

Before us was Milton a brown haired forty year human groomer and recent addition to our community. Next to him was his thirty nine year old girlfriend Melinda a pet groomer, both were lying in his sleeping bundle as naked as the day they were born.

Milton then kissed Melinda. She looked into his eyes and returned the favor. Everyone present watched as the brown haired human's penis thickened and elongated turning bright red. There was clapping and cheering from the crowd.

"So healer what is your assessment?" Milton said ushering the horny lioness to his girlfriend's side.

Shakara opened up her medkit, took a triangular device out and gently ran it over Melinda's groin.

"Melinda ovulated egg is being assaulted by millions of javelins, your sperm Milton." The red eyed lioness said smiling broadly.

"The conception of our child would not be possible without your intervention healer, we both thank you from the bottom our hearts." The groomer said to the lioness.

"We are glad we rescued you from that failing apocalypse shelter near the stadium. You and Melinda are a very welcome addition to our family." Commander Rhinox said.

"Yeah I guess it wasn't a good idea living near that monster infested death trap." The woman said swatting her lover on his behind.

"I would recommend that the both of you take it easy. Melinda's ph balance is just right so barring any unforeseen circumstances conception should occur and soon." Shakara said as the attendees started leaving.

Soon only my mistress and myself remained.

"You have an excellent healer in this community Lady Ursa, if she hadn't found and eliminated that agent the empire had placed in the human population to prevent pregnancies..."

"What we did this evening would not be possible." Melinda said.

"Well not everyone was here." I countered. "Reading between the lines, that means there is a portion out there that have mixed feelings about allowing humans to reproduce again."

"Could it be the same faction that was against you Mr. Winter?"

"You mean rejoining the lost city?" I said thoughtfully. "Good question."

"Congratulations Melinda, Milton on your forthcoming pregnancy." Lady Ursa said.

"But...." Milton said reading the bear's face.

"I know that look." Melinda added crossing her arms as I continued to watch the white goo dribble from her groin.

"I just wonder with everything that is going on- if this is the right time to be creating life?" Lady Ursa asked quietly.

"Now madam knight just because the known world has ended doesn't mean we have to succumb to the darkness all around us; life still goes on." The naked brown haired man said placing his hand on my perfect person's arm.

Lady Ursa was silent as we exited the couple's home and for the rest of the evening for that matter.

That night my liones and I snuggled our bear. I was on her left and Shakara was on her right. We each watched as Lady Ursa was staring at the ceiling of her chambers lost in thought.

"Hmm...." My devious person said.

"Shakara what is going on in that mind of yours?"

"Just wondering if Milton and Melinda will have a boy or a girl?"

"What do you think mistress?" I asked.

There was no response. That was when the horny lioness reached out her right paw to cup Lady Ursa's right breast.

She urged me to do the same with the left breast. I complied.

There was no reaction. The two of us looked at each other. That was when the red eyed lioness crawled around our bear to me.

"No you two I just have a lot on my mind... our colony, the nomadic colony, Kala and her vigilantes and the other two cities we didn't help."

"You are wondering if we should go there?" The lioness asked.

"There are survivors there in World Four but we don't have any friends there that could assist us, the same for World One." I added as some strong ursine arms reached out to cuddle both Shakara and myself.

Day 182 (7:16 AM, The eating place.)

The next morning Lady Ursa, Shakara and I were joined by my little brother for breakfast.

"So who did you sleep with last night?" I asked the little boy.

"Do you really want to know?" He said smiling.

"Adorably cute?" The lioness asked.

"It was Barq. She was great in bed." He said grinning. "She has a nice firm bosom, soft fur and strong arms and she doesn't snore like a certain other knight."

(They were sleeping together?!)

"I still think the Commander needs to find a roommate as well, even if you three should room together." I said as my order, a fruit platter was delivered.

"That may be too much little cutie she and Rhinox already work closely together." The dark tan lioness warned.

"We do too." I countered. "And you and I get along just fine before, during and after work."

"What do you think momma bear?" The little mongoose said looking at Lady Ursa who was again in deep thought. "Is she okay?"

"She has been in deep thought since yesterday evening." The horny lioness said. "Obviously something is weighing on her mind."

"Mistress?" I asked turning to her.

"Big cutie?" Shakara asked.

"Yes?" She said coming back into the conversation.

"Is everything ok momma bear?" The little mongoose asked.

"Corbin, Alex, Shakara I thought long and hard about this and I wanted you to be the first to know..."

"Know what momma bear?"

"I am going to continue my pregnancy."

"That's just... that's just wow...." I said dumbfounded.

"Congratulations momma bear." The little mongoose said smiling broadly.

"My lady that is quite an undertaking." Shakara said.

"It is but I was thinking about what Milton said after the ceremony last evening. He is right. Despite all that has happened these last seven months life does go on and I have decided not to place mine on hold anymore; I want to be a mother."

"That will be quite an undertaking." I said echoing the shocked lioness.

"True, but unlike before I have all of you to lean on and my daughter when she is born, will have a safe environment and a loving family to grow up in."
