#3 of Dawn of Change

Sorry for the wait on this chapter, things in RL have been getting a bit more crazy than I'd like but at least it's not to a bad point. :)

Also the normal uploader seems to not be working right

Here we see a bit of how things are going with the rest of the world, and how the people in OKC are reacting.. Tell me what ya think so far!

March 3rd, 2025. Several hours after initial exposure James was sitting against the hood of a parked car, looking down at the fur covered hand which held a photo of who he, now shi, used to look like. 'God......I can hardly even remember looking like this. But....this fur, these....extra bits.....seem so alien and familiar at the same time'. The herm vixen let out a soft sigh as shi placed the picture of the man shi used to be, in hir old wallet but not before taking one last look of the handsome man in an Army dress uniform. Shi and hir partner David, were at a small clothing store not far from the capitol building pulling guard duty till the advanced elements of the Oklahoma National Guard arrived and took over. James had heard from some of the higher ups that a fairly large force had been caught in what they were calling the Oklahoma Hot Zone while making their way into the city by way of the interstate. One bit of good news was that the citizens, while confused and a bit angry......were not panicking. Instead they were going out and helping where they could which was a huge help to the police. As such, the state troopers were now riding out to check on the surrounding counties. All in all, James mused, things were not too bad. Loss of life was fairly low and centered around car accidents as people lost control of their cars and trucks but aside from that, the vast majority of people were alive and well......aside from being turned into human animal hybrids. Shi looked down and let hir tongue poke out as shi groaned. By some miracle, shi'd found some pants and a shirt to cover hir exaggerated dimensions but shi still felt like shi was on full display. Hir breasts, as large if not a tad larger than hir head had the poor shirt stretched out tightly while hir inflated sack sat squeezed against hir thighs. James was still getting used to the feeling of the new opening between hir legs and shi could not help but be.....a bit unnerved from the feelings it sent to hir brain. Sighing, the vixen stepped away from the car just as shi heard the clopping of hooves approaching from the store. David, now a massive Belgian draft horse with a body that would make most bodybuilders look like twigs, grumbled as he carried a couple bags of clothes. He'd found a rather silly looking vest and gaudy shorts made for those who were incredibly overweight. At least they kept his privates covered, though left nearly nothing to the imagination. "Well, least you're not in your fur anymore.....ok that just sounded weird as hell." James said before pinching the bridge of hir muzzle while David rolled his eyes. "Yea, yea, yea. But for crying out loud, who the hell would be fat enough to wear these things and have them say 'Juicy'?! I look like some overgrown male stripper!" He hung his head and groaned while James rubbed the back of hir neck. As much as shi had complained about hir own size, shi was thankful that shi'd not only found people bigger than hirself but also clothes that could fit......mostly. "Ah come on big guy. Look, you said your wife likes to make clothes, yea? Well, she's going to be in work up to her eyeballs cause of all this." The big horse mulled over the idea in his head before looking up as Sargent Mack Phillips approached. The two gave a salute to the cheetah who groaned and gave them a look before speaking. "Guys, once again, this ain't the military. Look, I just got off the phone with headquarters and we're gonna be allowed to head home for a while once the guard gets here. We'll be on call so keep your radios and phones on at all times." James and David looked at each other with worried glances. They'd been wanting to go home, to see their loved ones......but the idea of seeing their wives as they were now filled them with a sense of dread, James feeling it much more due to hir......current state. There was also the fact that they were police officers and felt torn between duty and family. David, wanting to shift the subject for his friend and partner, spoke up, his deep voice soft and calm. "We the only place to get hit? How far does this go?" Mack looked at him a long moment before rubbing his spotted fur softly. "It's big guys, very big. The affected area stretches as far west as Fort Sil. All told it's a ninety mile spread, out from ground zero." The two gulped and James felt a whine escape hir muzzle. "And no....we're not the only ones to get hit. Denver was hit and their hot zone goes as far south as Cheyanne mountain itself. St Louis and the Dallas Fort Worth metro area were also targeted, as was Minneapolis." James' tail tucked between hir thick legs while hir ears folded back in fear. David's lower jaw hung open for a long moment before he whispered. "My God....NORAD.....And...Shit! The Vice President was in Dallas for that big convention!" Mack held up a hand, nodding softly. "Yea, he was. He and a good amount of the Senate were in Dallas right were the bomb went off. Casualties were light but they all got turned. Worse was that half of the House of Representatives was in Denver at a retreat. The POTUS however is still in Washington and it looks like no other events are going to happen." Letting out a small growl and clenching hir fists, James punched the car's hood.....and buckled the sheet metal in much more than hir small fist should have. All three looked in shock as James stood there gazing at hir hand. Finally snapping out of hir shock at the display of strength, James turned back to Mack and spoke in a growling voice of fury. "Who did this to us? Who the fuck did this? The Russians?" David was nodding in agreement but stopped dead as the cheetah sighed. "Afraid not, James. Just got word a bit ago that Moscow got hit as well. Bastards hit the city with a barrage of ballistic missiles. The ones not filled with explosives were fitted with what is believed to be the stolen nanites from Atlanta.....same ones that turned us into.....well, whatever the hell we are now." James's blood turned to ice and whispered out what he and David were both thinking. "Who the hell is insane enough to piss off two superpowers at the same time?"

March 3rd, 2025. Walker residence

Janice sat back on the sofa; legs supported by a pillowed footrest as she watched the tv. Clad in a comfortable t-shirt and a pair of her pajama pants, the silver vixen looked down at her two children and their babysitter. Little Alice was sitting in her lap, fast asleep while John was curled up under his mother's left arm and had dozed off as well when Janice had started to gently rub his soft, fluffy ears. The two fox kits were comfortable where they were and to their mother's shock and horror.....the two could not even remember being human or the attack itself. Unlike adults it seemed, children had their minds altered even further. At least that was what Janice had gathered as she checked on her neighbors a few hours ago. She turned and sighed softly while giving the broken looking grey stripped feline under her right arm a light squeeze. Poor Samantha, the babysitter of her little ones, had been devastated not just from the transformation.....but from how her parents had reacted when she managed to get through to them over the phone. Janice had been looking in the mirror at her own changes in her and James's bedroom, how her body had lost some of the signs of ageing that had just started to sit in and seemingly become youthful again, when she heard Sam's voice break as she pleaded for her parents to listen. Apparently, they had been on vacation and saw what was going on via the news networks and were less than understanding. Janice crept into the living room, her keen ears picking up the voice of the girl's father on the other end as he screamed that he 'had no daughter and never would have a freak of nature as one'. That had lit a fire in the silver vixen and when she saw Sam's eyes glaze over, saw the poor girl's soul break, Janice saw red. With her hackles raised and her lips pulled back in a snarl, she marched up and grabbed the phone away from Sam while the girl's father continued to screech and go ballistic. Janice was not much for a confrontation, even growing up on a farm and being a bit of a 'tom boy', she'd always tried to solve a situation peacefully. But, those that knew her all could testify that Janice Walker had one hell of a temper and for a good ten minutes, she tore into Sam's father with all the fire and brimstone of an angry and protective mother. Finally, when the line went dead due to the government closing down all telecom lines for military use, the vixen threw the phone angrily across the room, pulled the glassy eyed cat into her arms and hugged her tightly. A few seconds went by before Sam spoke in a weak whisper. "T-they.....they don't want me.......They hate me......I'm a fre-" "STOP!" Janice barked before she pulled Sam back far enough to look her in the eye. "Don't you dare repeat that! You are nothing like what they called you. Understand?" The cat looked up, her eyes filling with tears as a weak mew escaped her lips. "And if they don't want you, if they are that damn stupid, then you'll stay right here with us." The tears then overflowed as Sam started to loudly sob. She reached out and grabbed fistfuls of Janice's shirt and fur, holding on for dear life. Holding the weeping cat in her arms, Janice looked over and saw Alice and John standing in the hall, peeking in at the sight. Their little ears were folded back and Alice looked like she too was crying silently. After calming down Samantha enough for her to stand on her own.......and not nearly ripping out a fistful of fur.....the family had curled up around Janice as she flipped on the tv. Waves of worry for her husband, for the city, for the country even, swept through her as she watched the news networks around the country report on the attacks. She remembered dismissing the theft of the nanites as nothing to worry about. Now, five major cities in the U.S. along with Moscow had been hit and the populations, which numbered in the tens of millions, had been transformed into.....animals. Adding to the chaos, most of the government had been in those areas hit and the President had only not been affected because he was recovering from a cold in Washington D.C. The Russian government at least had mostly gotten out ok though several high members had been caught up and changed. The rest of the world was going mad as they reacted to these attacks, closing their borders and conducting sweeps of their nations. The POTUS had also declared a temporary state of martial law nationwide, though was keeping it 'low key' from what Janice saw. Apparently at the 'Hot Zone in Minneapolis, a nuke had even been found and thankfully disarmed by a volunteer team while down south close to the southern border, a firefight involving a group believed to have been tied to the attacks, had taken place. The suspects had a LOT of firepower, including an RPG, and were able to blast their way through several roadblocks set up by the Texas State Police. When Martial Law was declared though.....the U.S. Army took up the chase and this time, they took no chances. A pair of M1A3 Main Battle Tanks blasted the armored van to bits but not before someone inside was able to bring down an Apache gunship with a SAM. It was chaos, and Janice hugged her kids and Samantha securely as she wondered how much worse it would get.
