(Note: Vampire Panther has allowed me to use his fursona in this next chapter. Should I require his fursona in any other chapters, I will consult him on this. And no, his fursona is not going to be in any yiff scene in this series. If he wants his fursona in a yiff scene, it should be in his stories, not mine.)

When Jack and Fran finally arrived at the shop, there was a crowd that had gathered, obviously arguing about something that greatly made them angry. When the fox and the cougar stepped out, everyone's eyes turned to them, the loud voices quietting immediately, leaving the area extremely calm and awkward. The crowd parted as the vulpine walked towards what the crowd had gathered around, and it turned out to be a well toned panther in black denim jeans and a matching vest. He had an attachable deck box on his hip and a hungry look in his green eyes, as if challenging the fox.

"Who are you?" Jack asked curiously.

"My name is Spencer, and I challenge you, considering as how everyone says you can defeat me with your ancient cards," the panther answered calmly, yet obviously trying to agitate the vulpine.

"Well then, if my cards are so 'ancient', then I'll have you know that without the basics that these represented, the newer cards wouldn't even be around and so easily chained with one another."

"Heh, go ahead and say that, it's true. But skill is also a factor you forgot to mention. You are saying that if two people have the same skill, strategies, and determination, it's all left up to the cards to determine who wins and who loses, right?"

"Basically, and I give no quarter to anyone who challenges me."

The panther sneered mischieviously before calmly saying, "Great players think alike. This will be a good match."

As the vulpine and the sleek feline walked into the store, Fran got a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach and hurried in. Jack and Spencer sat down and pulled out their decks, but before the fox could begin shuffling, he noticed a card in particular in the panther's hand. It was the new Obelisk the Tormentor card, with the abilities actually printed on it! He had been looking for it, since he had the original three Egyptian God cards and the Lord cards, keeping them in a safe place at his home. Ever since he heard that there was a new Obelisk card in a Shonen Jump edition for this year, he had searched every store outlet, asking for the price of the issue, and had utterly failed, since they had flown off the shelf before they had time to settle.

Grinning, Spencer softly said, "If you can defeat me, this card is yours. Since I'm putting it up as a reward for you, I will not use it in this match."

Jack swallowed the lump in his throat, knowing that only two kinds of people would put that kind of card up for grabs. People who were cocky, or stupid. This feline didn't seem either one, which meant he was very confidant in his skills and deck. They shuffled each other's deck after the panther put the card in his deck box, handing the stack of cards back to their respectful owners. They drew their first five cards and flipped a coin, Spencer winning the toss.

"I'll go first," he said as he grew a very serious look on his face, which looked more like a look that could kill. He played Crystal Beast Saphire Pegasus, and set two cards in his spell and trap zone after placing another Crystal Beast card in the specified zone, ending his turn. Jack drew his card shakily, barely knowing much about Crystal Beasts other than that every one of their abilities stated that if they were destroyed, they could be put into the spell/trap card zone instead of the graveyard, unless if that zone was full. He set his White Ninja and another card before ending his turn, hoping he could pull through this. He knew people could beat them and respected them for that, but he desired that Obelisk card so bad, it hurt in his chest.

Spencer drew his next card and summoned Topaz Tiger, another Crystal Beast monster, and attacked the fox's facedown monster, destroying his only defense. He soon realized that his Life Points were down to 6200 after Saphire Pegasus attacked him directly, ending the panther's turn. Jack drew his next card and saw a shimmer of hope and summoned Red-Eyes Black Chick before activating his face down card, Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the feline's second facedown spell/trap. He then, used the Chick's ability to special summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon and attacked Topaz Tiger, sending him to Spencer's spell and trap card zone.

"Good move, kid. That card isn't as archaic as the card you just summoned, but good move," the panther said out of respect before drawing his card. The fox noted that his foe's LP was down to 7200 as he watched the panther play the equip spell Crystal Release, increasing his Pegasus's attack to 2600 and attacking his Black Dragon, crushing that shimmer of hope for a speedy match. He now had 6000 LP. As Jack drew his card, he knew he had to come up with something and could only set a monster and a trap before ending his turn.

The panther drew his card and played Crystal Beacon, bringing forth a Crystal Beast from his deck to the field if he had 2 in the spell/trap card zone. Amethyst Cat had only 1200 attack but his ability really put a damper on the fox's hopes as he took 600 direct, then watched as the Saphire Pegasus sent his defense to the graveyard. He drew his card as the panther's turn ended and set a monster and a card, ending his turn.

The feline drew his next card and summoned Cobalt Eagle and sent Amethyst Cat to attack directly, leaving the fox's LP at 4800 and ending his turn without taking out the facedown. Jack drew his next card and saw another sliver of hope and flip summoned his Divine Dragon Ragnarok and played Dragon's Gunfire, taking out Amethyst Cat. He then equipped his Ragnarok with Malevolent Nuzzler, increasing the dragon's attack to 2200 and attacked Cobalt Eagle, but was stopped short by the trap card Rainbow Path, which blocked his attack, sent a Crystal Beast card to the graveyard, and placed Rainbow Dragon from his deck to his hand. The fox had to end his turn.

Spencer drew his card and played Crystal Blessing, a spell card, intending to bring the Crystal Beast he had in his graveyard to his spell/trap zone, but Jack countered with Magic Drain, which the panther easily tossed away a spell from his hand to keep the spell's activation and effect. After doing so, he summoned Ruby Carbuncle, having seven different Crystal Beast monsters in play now. With that, he was able to special summon Rainbow Dragon, which had a massive amount of attack. He used Rainbow Dragon to get rid of Ragnarok, then attacked with Saphire Pegasus, Ruby Carbuncle, and Cobalt Eagle, finishing the fox and winning the match for the panther.

Sighing heavily, the vulpine stood up and extended his paw as a sign of appreciation towards the panther's skills. The black feline stood up and shook the paw of his defeated foe and slowly walked out of the store after putting away his cards. As the fox tucked his own cards away, everyone stared at him in shock, for they had not seen Jack lose so quickly. Fran quickly ran up and held onto him, intending to help him recover from the lose.

"Hey, I take every match as a new experience, that's why I don't let up until the very end. Now then, let me pick up what I need and we can have dinner at my place. You can bring your brother as well," he said softly as he handed her his address before going to the counter, asking if the item he was interested in had arrived. The badger nodded his head and motioned for him to follow him to the back. As the vulpine followed the badger, he looked around and saw the usual things he had, a few Power Ranger figures, some posters for other card games, and other rare items.

"Here you go kid, it arrived a couple of hours ago," the badger said before brushing away the packing peanuts and handing the object to Jack. He slowly glided a soft, red paw over the outer case and walked back out and sat back down, immediately drawing everyone's attention. The latest booster tin, that wasn't supposed to be released for another month, laid right in the fox's paws, with golden lettering visibly etched into the lid, saying 'PRE-RELEASE'.

As Jack slowly opened the tin box, his eyes widened in shock at what his luck had bestowed upon him. The next series of booster tins each had one of the three new Egyptian God cards sealed in a silver unmarked pack, preventing others from seeing what they wanted as with previous tins. He slowly picked up the single card pack and gently opened it. As his paw reached in to take out the Egyptian God monster fate randomly handed to him, he felt his pulse begin to quicken, reminding him a little of his first time watching Fran and her twin brother fucking each other in front of him. He slowly pulled out the card just enough to read the name.

"HOLY SHIT!!!!" was all he could yell as he stared at his very own Obelisk the Tormentor, mint condition, gold lettering shining back at his emerald eyes. He let the card sink back into the silver case, swiftly put the pack back into the tin, and put the lid back on before holding it close to him and bolting to his house, his eyes wide with shock. When he arrived home, his fingers fumbled with the keys as he struggled to open the door. The house key finally went into the lock and he turned, opening the door and rushing in, forgetting out closing it. He rushed to his dark basement and turned on the black lightbulb, searching his cluttered desk to find what he needed.

He closed his eyes and let his nerves calm down, feeling his heart slowly go back to it's normal pace. When Jack opened his eyes, he already had the silver pack in his one paw, a pair of tweezers in the other. He looked down at the plastic case and gently pulled the new Obelisk out of the sleeve and slowly carried it to the case. As soon as he had it in the case, he took the top of it and gently pushed it down until it locked in place, safe from the effects of the environment, even if a category 5 hurricane tore through his house. He then picked up his metal safebox and slowly unlocked it, pushing the lid back to see the other two three-card sets staring back at him from the same protective plastic case.

The vulpine gently lowered the new card to settle with the others before closing the box and locking it back up. He gently lowered it back under the desk and turned off the light, fumbling his way back upstairs and saw Fran drive up with her brother. He smiled, now that his worries were put to bed and went out to greet them, wanting more fun with the twins.
