#9 of The Fuzz

Preza opened blurry clear blue eyes to the dimly lit haze of the predawn hours. Withe a groan she shifted and closed her eyes once more, not quite ready for the day. After a few more moments of rest she rolled off the couch and padded her way silently to the kitchen to make her morning tea.

She and Hybrin had been living together for a few months, and things were going well. After a few weeks of awekwardness, and one incedent with the shower, she and Hybrin had finally settled into living as housemates. She was starting to become comfortable with Hybrin's presence, and he appeared to be doing the same. Most importantly no one at work had found out about their living arrangements.

Preza had made some friends within the department in her short time there. Given most of her friends were Hybrin's friends as well. With working close together that was to be expected. He showed her the ropes, and introduced her to most the people on her shift.

Everyone seemed to know each other in the station. Even personel from other departments were friendly. It was a tightly knit group, but they were a warm and caring bunch. They welcomed her with open arms. She had even gotten used to the light hearted teasing that most new people recieved.

Pouring the water into the tea maker, Preza pushed the button, and turned to riffle a mug out of the cabinet. Hearing the shower upstairs turn on she knew that Hybrin was up and readying himself for the day.

She wiggled and began to purr, wondering what breakfast Hybrin would be cooking for them today. She was amazed at the wolf's cooking skills. She would have never have thought to use such an array of spices and simple food products to make the foods Hybrin could cook. It was one of the many hidden talents that she had discovered about the dark haired, white wolf.

Grasping her mug in one paw she placed it on the counter. Still waiting for the tea to brew she turned and leaned against the white fux granite counter top. Listening to the tea maker gurgle rhythmically as it mixed the water with her herbal tea. Preza's thoughts wondered again to her new housemate. Hybrin wasn't a large wolf at least not as big as some gray or tundra wolves that she had known. Even for an Arctic wolf he was kind of small. Not to say that he wasn't built. Preza knew that under that dense white fur there was a solid body. She had not only seen Hybrin take down guys twice his size in training, she had felt his body herself once before.

Preza closed her eyes thinking back to it. She had just had a falling out with her landlord and accidentally ran into Hybrin on her way back to her desk. His chest was warm and firm under her pads, and she could feel the fur shift under his starch uniform shirt. In the moment she was flush against his chest he had wrapped his lean arms around her. His hold on her was like a vice for a split second before he recognized her, and allowed her to step away.

If there was one word that could describe Hybrin's physique it would be svelte. Preza licked her lips, remembering the feel of Hybrin's hard yet warm, and gentle body against her own.

Suddenly her eyes snapped open, the sound of the tea maker not the only noise filling the room. She blushed and covered her mouth with a paw. She had purred, to the thought of being in Hybrin's arms.

"This is not good," she murmured to herself. Turning she quickly set her mind on fixing her tea and away from any thoughts of her lupine housemate.

"So what did you want for breakfast?" Hybrin's deep groggy voice asked from behind her.

Hybrin watched in amazement as Preza leaped nearly twice her height in the air, spun around, and landed seated on the counter with her back plastered to the cabinet doors. He blinked taking in the wild and frightened look in her eyes. "Um, sorry?"

Preza clutched at her chest feeling her heart pound beneath her tight chest. She hadn't heard Hybrin turn off the shower or come down the stairs. Was she really that deep in her thoughts? She had been prone to daydreams but she had never dropped her guard like that before. It was a little frightening. Maybe she was getting a little to comfortable in her new home.

She let out a nervous laugh, the inside of her ears turning bright red from a blush she could feel through her entire body. Oh how foolish she must look right now.

Hybring watched the fur on Preza's whole body bristle, and her tail bushing in fright. He idely realized that he hadn't known her fur was that long. She looked fluffy. Given she wasn't a small girl to begin with, but now she appeared plump and round like a Persian. The thought amused Hybrin and he couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up from his chest.

"It's okay, you can laugh. I know I look stupid." Preza looked down at the floor. She was feeling a mixture of shame and embarrassment by her body's reaction to his arrival. She buried her face in her paws letting out a breathless laugh.

He too let out a chuckle. "Not stupid. Cute."

"Cute? You think that I'm cute?" Preza rolled her eyes her voice rising to an almost squeaky tone. "I am not cute!"

Hybrin let out a guffaw this time. "Yes you are, and you just proved it!"

"Waffles."

He was laughing so loud that he had barely caught what she had said. "Hm?"

Preza slid off the counter top, peaking at Hybrin through her purple bangs. "You asked what I wanted for breakfast. I would like some waffles...please?"

It took a moment for the sudden change of topic to register in Hybrid's mind. "Oh, oh! Sure thing." He gave Preza a toothy smile, happy to see her fur finally settling down. He quickly set himself on the task of making the two of them breakfast.

Preza sat at her desk thumping her pencil idly on the calender mat. Her whole day was going to be filled with paperwork, and she wasn't looking forward to it.

Glancing across the room she spotted Hybrin talking with a black female cat by the water cooler. Her eyes narrowed on the two as they playfully laughed, and shoved each other around. She didn't know why but something about seeing the two was unsettling to her, and she didn't like it.

"You might want to stop daydreaming, and get back to those files."

Preza blinked and looked across the adjoined desks at her partner. The jackal was staring back at her with a disapproving look.

Her emotions began to settle as Ernic's words sank in. He was right, she had more important things to do then stare at Hybrin all day. Yet she couldn't place that feeling she had when seeing Hybrin acting so casual with the other feline. She didn't like the feeling, and couldn't figure out what had made her feel it. Her mind began to race. Nothing was wrong with Hybrin talking to other people. He had every right to bond with other officers. Then why did it bother her so much to see him like that? She could not be jealous could she?

Preza froze, her chest tightened as her heart seased, and her stomach churned. Her throat began to tighten as realization hit her. This wasn't good. She couldn't be jealous. Not that it wasn't possible. However she could not be jealous of her housemate talking to other girls just because of their living situation. She had no right to be jealous. After all she wasn't even attracted to Hybrin, was she?

Her mind fell back on the thoughts she had of her fellow officer earlier that morning. Her heart fluttered in her chest at the mere thought of him. This was not good...
