"It's our own little slice of Heaven they say..."

A Sweet Stop cantina around the bend? Who woulda thought that woulda been a good idea. You see, unlike the middle of Virginia, the apex of small little cantina quick stops sits, the ultimate local eat-and-go buffet around. Normally you don't really get to see quick-stops around anywhere but middle Virginia and certainly not anywhere else. It's usually a Virginia exclusive. But here, on the edge of the city Durandal, Kentucky, you can't really argue that this place is much more known for its full blown restaurants in the big city. Normally quick-stops are a rarity around here, especially Sweet Stop. I normally don't stop for food, but I heard that Sweet Stop coffee is just divine. I had to take a look.

The rotating doors of the Sweet Stops is what catches people off-guard first. I actually read about them--why they particularly chose to do rotating doors. I guess it's because the owners hated having to turn a door knob or a handle every time they wanted to leave or enter. And at the time push and pull doors weren't even invented. But even when they were, why change what wasn't broken? The rotating doors were a novelty but a novelty that caught people's eyes. It was somewhat inviting and unusual to see a quick-stop with a rotating door. The interior wasn't boring though. I expected more. During my short visit I passed by several tables that were just plain red and had some small white racing stripes along the ends of the booths. I don't really know what they were thinking. They had this intensely attractive door but these boring colors and patterns. The waitress was wearing red with white checkerboard on her skirt, the shirt was red too, a slight button-up, somewhat formal as well. This particular waitress was wearing a red bow on her head. She looked like a wrapped up Christmas present in July. Speaking of, it was oddly cool in the Sweet Stop. Air conditioned well, obviously. But there was something more to it than that, I felt as if something else gave it the cool temperature that was very polarizing from the outside weather.

The food I could smell from the kitchen window, smelled well enough, but the coffee absolutely was sublime. It tasted of vanilla with hazelnut after taste. I've never tasted vanilla coffee before. It must be a Sweet Stop exclusive coffee blend! I've never seen or experienced anything quite like a Sweet Stop before.
