Chapter 2

Sector sat there staring at his plate of spaghetti. He stabbed his fork into it and played around. The lightning fox hated eating spaghetti. It was like swallowing long skinny worms whole. It was repulsive to him.

"Mom!" Sector yelled from the dinner table, "Can I please go out now?"

"Not until you finish your dinner young man!" Sector heard his mom yell from a room somewhere above him in their two story hut.

"Fine!" Sector yelled back. He quickly grabbed his plate and dumped it outside a window.

"Okay I'm done mom," Sector yelled to his mother, "I'll see you later bye!" With that said, the lightning fox sprinted out into the fading sunlight.

As Sector ran through the village of Serka, the lightning fox almost dropped his large chain. Sector carried a long chain with a spearhead on one end and a large metal ball on the other. Many animals assume that Sector must be extremely strong to carry such a heavy chain, but the chain was actually fairly light, well it is to Sector.

Sector wore a gray shirt with the words "An animal who can smile during a life or death situation is a true warrior, either that or he's a natural born idiot" imprinted on the front. He wore black jeans with a black cap to match.

Sector had the usual pure bright yellow eyes of a lightning animal but he never liked the color yellow. He preferred darker colors, but he wasn't dark or anything like that.

After sprinting half way through the village, Sector slowed down almost out of breath. He wasn't much of a runner, but he liked sprinting where ever he went. Sector decided to speed walk the rest of the way.

Sector looked up at the sun and found that it was almost sun set. But he was almost there so he didn't care. The lightning fox continued his walk hoping he came at a good time.

Eventually Sector stopped in front of a door of a small hut. He felt the presence of two animals inside in the same room. He knocked quickly and loudly just because he felt like it.

After what seemed like hours to Sector but seconds in reality, the door finally opened. Sector was half expecting for his friend to open the door, but instead he came face to face with a water turtle.

"Hey Sector"

"Hey Yoshi!" Sector said aloud "Where's Yoka?"

"He's inside come on in." Yoshi replied

The two walked into Yoka's dinky little hut and made their way toward the kitchen, where they usually hang out. Yoka was already there preparing some hot tea on the dining table.

"Cherry or Grape?" Yoshi asked,

"I feel like grape today" Sector replied.

Yoshi went to the fridge and grabbed a can of soda and threw it at Sector, who was sitting himself on top of the kitchen counter near Yoka's small dining table. Sector caught the soda, opened it, and started chugging down the grape flavored drink while Yoshi went to sit down with Yoka.

Sector finished the can and flattened it against his head. He threw the crushed can toward the trash can, but missed. Yoka laughed at Sector as Yoka threw a crumpled up napkin in without even looking.

"So Yoka," Sector started, "I heard you chickened out again, what happened?"

"The usual, three dogs got kicked out and blasted themselves away" Yoka replied nonchalantly.

"Ha! No wonder they don't get a lot of new recruits!" Sector laughed, "That is why I'll NEVER go back to that hell of a castle."

"Please," Yoshi retorted chuckling, "The reason you're never going back is because you got kicked out"

"So what if I almost blew up the castle multiple times," Sector replied, "It's not like I almost destroyed the entire village."

"But you did destroy half the castle," Yoka laughed taking a sip of tea.

"Hey that was not my fault!" Sector defended, "How was I suppose to know that you're not suppose to light a fire in the explosive room?"

"Umm, I don't think we should answer that question," Yoshi laughed.

"Hey there's someone at the door," Sector said suddenly, and as if on cue, there was a knocking on the door.

"You like that nick-name of yours don't you Mr. Living Radar?" Yoshi retorted as he stood up to get the door.

"What can I say? It's what I do best" Sector replied sticking his tongue out.

"So Yoka," Sector started once Yoshi was out of earshot, "Did you get Yoshi to tell you about your necklace yet?"

"Nah, he refuses to tell me anything about this thing at all," Yoka said as he took off his water necklace and showed it to Sector. The necklace was in the shape of a water drop with a beautiful blue gem in the middle. The gem looked like it had moving water inside swirling into an infinite circle.

Yoshi had obtained the necklace a long time ago during one of his trips outside of Serka. He just came back with it and gave it to Yoka. It was Yoshi's first treasure, so he gave it to Yoka to symbolize their friendship, Yoka had it ever since. But ever since Yoka first held the necklace in his hand, he was curious of its origins, but Yoshi refused to say anything about it.

"The less you know about it the better," Yoshi always said whenever Yoka pestered him about the necklace.

"Man I wish he would just tell you about it already," Sector said staring at the necklace very closely as if he was hypnotized by its beauty, "that thing is so cool, I wish I had one."

"I know," Yoka replied, he was also staring at his necklace as if he was hypnotized. Suddenly Yoshi walked back into the kitchen. Yoka quickly stuffed his necklace back under his shirt.

"So who was it?" Yoka smiled nervously as Yoshi took his seat back at the table.

"It was Koiyano dilvering some mail. I invited him in, but he said he had too much work to do tonight," Yoshi said as he pulled out a bag of hot chocolate mix out of his pocket, and passed it to Yoka.

"Oh yeah, thats for you. Apparently it's a new type of chocolate and they wanted random people to test it." Yoshi said casually with a sigh.

"Ugh, I never really liked chocolate," Yoka moaned, "here you take it Yoshi."

Yoshi quickly poured himself a cup of hot water from the teapot and dumped in the mix. Yoshi had a tendency to buy random stuff from random strangers. He couldn't help himself when someone offered him something, especially if its sweets.

"So what I miss?" Yoshi asked as he started mixing his hot chocolate.

"Meh not much," Sector quickly said as he grabbed another can of grape soda from Yoka's fridge. Sector quickly chugged the entire can and squashed the can against his head. And once he again he missed the trashcan.

"Hey Sector, do you mind leaving the kitchen for a second?" Yoka started out of nowhere.

"Umm why?" Sector responded confused, "So you can tell each other secrets? Come on now, I'm like one of your best friends, how come you can trust Yoshi and not me? You guys never tell me anything personal." Sector made a pouty face.

"Aww come on Sector don't be like that" Yoshi said blowing on his hot chocolate, "You know how careful Yoka is. I mean if you had been him you'd probably do the same thing"

"Ugh fine, I guess your right" Sector pouted as he grabbed another can of grape soda and walked out of the kitchen. He decided to relax in Yoka's room which just happened to be out of earshot of the kitchen.

Sector sighed as he jumped onto Yoka's clean bed. He started wondering what they were talking about. It was probably something to do with relationships or something of that matter. No one tells a friend to leave unless it has to do with something really personal.

Sector started pondering who might Yoka like as he chugged down the grape soda. The lightning fox's ear perked at the sound of yelling from the kitchen. Sector quickly got up and made his way toward the kitchen.

He heard Yoshi yelling, but he couldn't recognize what was being said. Sector got confused as he made sure it was Yoshi doing the yelling. Yoshi was a calm and peaceful turtle who seldom got mad at anyone for any reason.

Sector made it to the kitchen just in time to see Yoka burst out of his own house crying. Sector peeked into the kitchen and found Yoshi. He was just standing there. Sector stood there motionless as Yoshi just stood in the middle of the kitchen breathing heavily.

Yoshi took a chug of his hot chocolate and collapsed onto the floor. The cup of empty powdered sweets broke as Yoshi hit the kitchen floor, face first.

"What the queron is going on here?" Sector asked himself completely stunned and confused by the events that had just occurred in the small hut.
