#2 of Grunt Work

The third story in the series dedicated to Team Void. Enjoy an insight into their recruiting methods.

A story I finished a while ago and I just realized that I didn't post it up. Uuuuuuhhhh sorry. (PS: Chapter three is almost done.)

Aliah held her trainers head in her claws, he wrapped his hand around her and looked at her with a loving expression that edged on fanatical. Aliah smiled as her noxious fumes were strongest in an enclosed space such as the cavern they found themselves. She hissed out loving words to him but she knew he wouldn't understand she only spoke pokemon and he only spoke human but she relished these moments, he was her little plaything. She allowed her tail to ignite to spread more of its noxious pheromones, the Salazzle didn't allow the chemicals to burn for too long at the risk of suffocating and intoxicating her trainer.

"Aliah you're so beautiful... is there anything I can do for you?" The male mumbled as he removed his team skull hat, sweat poured down his head as he gazed at the reptilian face of his pokemon.

Derek knew that she was messing with his mind but even knowing what poison flowed through his body didn't prevent the effects, his hands moved to grasp the hands of the smaller pokemon as she held him. She smiled her trainer, she rubbed a clawed hand over the fact that she had grown to love. She felt a bit of anger flash through her mind as she looked at the white skull hat that lay on the ground as if it was somehow mocking her. She licked along his lips before reaching down into the sand, she scrawled out a heart before letting the flames die down from her tail. The trainer lifted her up before carrying her out of the cavern, she turned her reptilian head down to look at the tint in her pants that was poking into the base of her tail, what she wouldn't give to spend as much time with that as she could.

Derek coughed a bit as he stepped out of the small cavern into the beach, he was on vacation far away from the island home that really made him long for the scent of his pokemon. A small part of him didn't care much Hoenn but the number of people that would swarm him on route 109 to see his pokemon was a little encouraging. Derek continued walking in a haze until he bumped into a pangoro, he was pushed out of his mental fog as the large ursine pokemon turned to him. Pink Ice cream stained the front of her fur as she gazed at the human.

"Sorry I wasn't looking where I was going I-" Derek started to speak before the Pangoro plucked his hat from his head, her expression changed from one of disappointment to one of amusement. She turned with the hat in tow before walking down the beach, she waved him over.

"I guess she wants us to meet her trainer." Derek lowered Aliah down to the soft sands, she followed on her hind legs. She wasn't sure what the large pokemon wanted from her trainer but she wouldn't allow her to hurt him.

The group came to a stop in front of a woman sunning herself on the beach, the woman's skin was bronzed to a perfect beach body she wore a pair of shades that did little to hide the large jagged scar across her left eye. She peeked up at him before looking at her pokemon, the pink substance still dripping off of her fur, she took the hat from the bear and looked it over curiously.

"A Team Skull member? Interesting, are you here on business or pleasure?" She said with a small smile.

"Oh uh... you've heard of us?" Derek said looking around.

"Yeah you are one of the groups that were budding before that whole thing out in the islands, I hear that you disbanded." She said while trailing her fingers over the design in the hat.

"Are you the police, I mean I don't have a record and most of-" Derek rushed the words out.

"I'm not, I'm a trainer that may have a better prospect for you if you are interested." She returned the hat before tapping the large towel next to her. "Do join me, our pokemon can play while we talk. Derek isn't it?"

"How do you know my name? It's a little creepy, you are freaking me out a little Miss..." Sweat beaded on Derek's head.

"Information is part of my job, I can probably name every member of your team from Guzma down. There was a time where I thought you would have been a bigger threat but after the league rolled in... I guess that evaporated. How much did you make while you worked for Guzma?" She asked while her hand reached up to stroke the muzzle of the Salazzle who continued to stare at her unblinkingly.

"Not much we mainly just did pranks and caused a little trouble the new gangs trying to go legit, I think the guys are former Team Rockets trying to make our gang like their old one. I mean they sent us all on vacation-"

"Lemme guess, they gave every member around 10,000 poke and told you to have fun while scouting out the location?" The woman sat up with a smile.

"How did you-?" Derek felt a chill go down his spine as she removed her glasses revealing her eye patch.

"Information. Even if you didn't tell me my companion has been feeding me information since you've followed Shoko around. I know your name, your family and the fact that you love to huff Salazzle pheromones. I know that Aliah here also loves giving them to you, she longs for the day that you'll just take her. It's pretty cute if a little strange but the main thing that I know is that your mother is sick and possibly going to die within the next few years." The woman seems a little distant as she gazed out on the surf.

Derek clenched his hands into fists, "What do you want?"

"You are a psychic human, they aren't too common out there on the islands but here they are celebrated and even given special gyms. I just want to know how powerful you are." Her words were smooth and measured but Derek felt a chill just talking to her.

Derek swallowed his fear, "Not very but I get the feeling you want my help in exchange for helping my mother, don't you?"

"You catch on very quickly, I looked in on her as well but I am not going to lie to you. Even with all the technology that I acquired, I can't heal her without side effects but I can give promise that she won't hurt anymore. In exchange, I would like to have you on my payroll."

Derek thought about the offer, "What can you do that a hospital can't? I don't want to be a killer even to save my mothers life."

"Many things, I want to cultivate that power you hold and If killing is against your own personal code. I'll honor that as much as possible, killing is bad for business."

Derek kept his distance from the relaxed woman, "Then why do you want a psychic human? Why won't you tell me your name?"

"Because I have no psychic humans in my family and having more would make hiring pokemon far faster."

"You mean hiring trainers?" Derek corrected.

"Not at all." The woman stood up while brushing sand off of her thighs, there was enough muscle definition in those legs to make Derek stare a bit.

"I want to talk to my mother about it first, I want to know her thoughts. How can I contact you if I agree?" Derek said.

"Oh she is already on the ship, she has been riding with us for a few weeks. Like I said before we've been very interested in you, a foreign psychic is a rare thing to see." The woman stood up and adjusted her sunglasses.

"You kidnapped my mother?" Derek shouted.

"Take my hand if you want to see her if you are unsatisfied you both can leave unharmed." She used a pokeball to recall the massive Pangoro who was idly building a sandcastle.

Derek recalled his pokemon before reaching his hand out to grasp the hand of the strange woman, the world stretched out before he was suddenly standing in a metal room. He gripped his stomach to avoid voiding the contents of his belly. He looked up and found himself being helped to his feet by a two Lopunny's, they chattered to each other before shoving something bitter in his mouth. the moment he tasted the leaf he spat it out in fear.

"What are you doing?" He growled at the two pokemon, whatever they gave him made the queasiness fade quickly.

"They are just giving you a little mint, it helps with being transitioned so suddenly. I normally just recommend a bit of antacid or a bit of soda. I wouldn't fight them though, they are both Orre certified doctors." A woman said dressed in medical scrubs, she was dark skinned with bright green eyes. She smiled warmly before handing him a card.

"What's this?"

"Your mother's room, it's across the hall. Please don't be too loud we have sick pokemon and humans trying to rest." The nurse, at least Derek assumed she was a nurse, ushered him out of the room and across the hall.

Derek opened the door to find a tanned woman sitting in a chair, She turned to him with a small smile as she held onto the IV bag. "Hello, Sweetie. I see that frightening woman kept to her word and managed to bring you here."

"Did they hurt you?" Derek said running over to give his mother a hug, he looked over the short woman, even with her graying hair and weak constitution she was not even fifty years old.

"No. A group of men in black uniforms asked me to come along and told me they could heal my condition. They helped me out of the hospital and boarded me on this fancy cruise ship, the doctors kept me well and some really nice fox pokemon keeps bringing me food. There is so many pokemon here that I've never seen, they said they need your permission to fix me." A glimmer in the woman's eyes as she lowered her head to speak in her son's ear.

"My son, I don't know what they have over you but you are my star. Make your own choices and don't let them use me as bait. There is no such thing as a free ride..." She said before pulling back from the hug.

The door opened as the tanned woman from earlier stepped into the room, she was wearing a white uniform with a black swirl on the lapel, "I'm sure you are both confused and possibly a little scared. I want to dispel any fears you may have about why you are here. I am Sharlene and I lead the organization known as Team Void."

"Miss Sharlene, what do you want with my son?" The woman asked bluntly.

"His abilities aren't known in most of the Leagues records, Alola doesn't keep records as tightly and since the league has been established they haven't had time to truly find out how many psychics live in Alola. We only found out because we were investigating Guzma and Team Skull." Sharlene answered while taking a seat in one of the chairs near the older woman.

"If I refuse then what happens?" Derek asked.

"We drop you off back on the beach and put your mother in the Saffron City Hospital." Sharlene didn't miss a beat.

"Saffron?" The old woman raised an eyebrow.

"No offense to your homeland but Saffron has one of the best hospitals on our path," Sharlene stated while smiling coyly. "If you would like to go back to Alola I can arrange that as well but it's not recommended if you want to live longer than a year."

"What will I be doing here, if I join?" Derek sighed before sitting down in a chair.

"To be frank, training to develop your mind until you can assist our family. You will read the minds of potential employees and based on what we are looking for you will send them to the next in line, our current hiring director is a little bit taxed from being the only psychic doing that work. Our field agents aren't around long enough to take the weight so she asked for someone to vet the recruits." Sharlene said.

"So it's legitimate work? How much is the pay?"

"Currently it's 350,000 poke a year, with incentives and hazard pay." Sharlene said as both heads turned to her, "You didn't think I would be paying you scraps, did you?"

Derek's mother turned her brow furrowed in suspicion, "I have heard many voices and many people on this ship if they are making that kind of money how do you support it? Are you pokemon thieves like the Rockets or a doomsday cult like those other folks?"

"We aren't anything so theatrical, we deal in gambling, trading of rare technology but a large amount of our money comes for the trade of biological samples of rare pokemon. It's much safer to trade a vial of blood than to attempt to catch pokemon capable of the feats that made them legendary in the first place." Sharlene winced as she thought of how much richer she could be if one of her workers didn't screw up the Kanto job.

"At that price, I am willing to work provided you cure my mother." Derek sighed, Alola was a rich country but only as a tourist destination with the money he would earn from this job he would be able to retire comfortably in just a few years.

"That's the other part, this cure has side effects, permanent ones... It's experimental tech but we have tested it with better and better results. I need to know if you would be willing to work for us after you are cured because you will be unable to return to normal human society once we complete it." Sharlene said before striding over to the door and knocking on it slightly. The door creaked open before a blond furred Furret stepped into the room, the pokemon stepped over to the older woman and bowed politely.

"Is this pokemon the cure? A blood transfusion perhaps?" The older woman asked, her cunning eyes gazing over the Furret.

"This is Olivia from Kanto, she was once a human like yourself but she is now a furret. She is fully human in mind and can recall her entire life as a human."

"Please tell me this is some kind of joke?" Derek said looking over the Furret, Olivia shook her head before.

"I'll bite, do I have to be a Furret? This seems like something out of a tabloid but this does seem to be a little much if you are going to jest with us." The woman turned her attention to the Furret. "If you really are a human, I think you picked a fine choice as a new body."

The Furret looked to Sharlene with glare but turned to the older woman with a toothy smile, she bowed again before excusing herself from the room. As she left the human's noticed that she had various flour stains on her back.

"Well I'm still going to err on the side of skepticism with your offer but If I had a choice I wouldn't mind being a Dragonite, as a young woman I was always a fan of the shows about Lance. They made him out to be a superhero but his Dragonite was the real star of the show."

"We should be able to get you a dragonite with no problem, understand that you will be fusing with said pokemon at the end of this process," Sharlene said before opening up her pokedex.

"Where do you find the pokemon, if that isn't a trade secret." The woman was shrewd yet direct with her questions.

"You'll be working for us soon so I can tell you, the wonder trade system. The pokemon are conscious there and depending on how things go a single error can result in hundreds of brain dead pokemon, the system dumps these data forms and recreates them from the data loss. The trainer doesn't know and the pokemon doesn't even know since all it can remember is blinking. It's a terrifying outcome but it's very useful to you because Hoenn's system is new and has enough stability problems that we should be able to find a body."

"Ok. It will only take a few moments to get set up. Please address the nurses if you have any concerns. I will be back to collect you both shortly." Sharlene said before walking out of the room.

~

Less than thirty minutes passed before Derek and his mother arrived in a spacious office, the Pangoro and Sharlene stood near two large tanks. One of the tanks was closed with various readouts on a monitor next to it. The other was open with foreboding lights on the inside, Derek looked at it curiously. His mother sighed and held on to her IV stand, she gasped out a ragged breath as the Pangoro held her other arm for support.

"You will need to undress fully and remove the IV, Shoko can help you with that if you require assistance."

"Thank you, soon as my son politely averts his eyes from me." The woman gave a burst of wheezing laughter as Derek shifted his gaze.

The woman was slowly stripped of her clothing as the IV was taken out of her arm, she could smell the soft stench of death and chemicals on her body. She felt the Pangoro gently lift her up before carrying her into the open tank, the ursine pokemon gave a polite smile and patted the woman's head. The tank closed with a pneumatic shudder, the woman clasped her hands together and began to pray to the Alolan Guardian Deities as the tank started to vibrate around her.

She grunted as her skin began to flake off, the feeling wasn't painful but strange she held out an arm as she watched her skin turn into a fine powered around her. She could see every muscle in her arm as they bulged out to the size of a dragonites, new veins grew on the surface while others expanded to accommodate the additional bulk. Her fingers shrank into extremely sensitive padding as the bones of her finger grew out from the skin to become rounded claws. She felt a sharp pain in her back as twin wings broke through her back, she gave a soft cry of pain as her teeth dissolved in her mouth only to be replaced by larger teeth to accommodate her much bigger form.

She could barely keep her mind conscious as her tail grew out of the base of her spine, she sucked in a breath through gritted teeth. She would not let her son hear her scream she didn't want to scare anyone but she was scared herself. This was really happening, gray scales forced their way through her muscles with such a distracting feeling that she barely noticed her organs shifting and growing around inside of her. The door beeped before warm watered doused her body, she was grateful for the itching to subside as she opened her eyes.

"Grah?" She was puzzled at how vibrant everything looked as the door slid open with the same pneumatic hiss. She was staring at her son who looked back at her in pure confusion.

The human was now full-sized Dragonite with gray scales where normally orange ones would be, she staggered out of the tube while looking over her new arms and pudgy belly. She had trouble keeping her balance, she gazed down at Sharlene who seemed so much more frail and small from her new vantage point. She was surprised at how much of the room she could see in her peripheral vision, the whole room was like a widescreen movie and every rock or sway of her body caused the film to shake a little bit.

"You probably feel hungry and a little disoriented. There is one last step to the process and you'll be able to get some food to adjust to your body." Sharlene said before reaching up with the large silver disc of a Technical Machine.

The knowledge flowed into her mind as the device whirred to life, she learned how user her wings fly through the air with enough skill to use it in combat. "Move learned: Fly." The technical machine beeped out in a monotone female's voice.

"Do you understand me." The Pangoro said.

"I do... Shoko was it?" The Dragonite said while moving her limbs in minute gestures to accommodate the words, she felt like she was dancing and pantomiming at the same time.

"Mom? Is that really you?" Derek asked.

The Dragonite nodded before stepping away from her son, she placed her large claws together before doing twirling around, she clapped her hands in regular intervals mimicking the thunderclaps of Tapu Koko. She finished the dance with a powerful slam of her palms on the floor, she looked on in surprise as she managed to crack the tile of the floor. Before she could even apologize she was tackled by her Son crying and hugging her, she patted the back of his head even as he managed to knock her to the floor.

"I guess it's something among the Alolan People." Sharlene asked Shoko, "You know of it?"

The Pangoro nodded before performing a very short dance that involved her arms shaking like rapid waves, Shoko blushed and stopped while scratching under her chin in embarrassment. Sharlene nodded and did a similar dance while snickering. Shoko snorted before tapping her on the shoulder and pointing her to the pair that approached while wiping both of their faces, their eyes were puffy from the tears.

"I'll work for you, boss." Derek croaked out with rapidly watering eyes.

"That's fine but I'm not some sort of silly villain, Call me Sharlene. Boss feels like some Team Rocket garbage term. It's still a pleasure to have you aboard, you have a Salazzle. I would recommend that you allow her to accompany your mother so she won't be alone into learning what it's like being a pokemon, according to Olivia's report that helped her accommodate her transition." Sharlene explained.

Derek released his pokeball allowing his Salazzle to appear, "Now you want to release me, you are such a tease. One of these days you will take me like a wild pokemon but alas today is not the day." Aliah sighed before turning to the Dragonite.

"Oh you are a magnificent dragon, I have never seen such unusual scales you would probably make a salandit horde very happy but I must inform you if you are Derek's new pokemon, he is mine and I will not share him with another female no matter how pretty she may be," Aliah said while maintaining a friendly posture.

"Are you intimate with him?" The Dragonite asked.

"I wish, I will not force him and he will not take me no matter how much I try but I have all the time in the world." Aliah snorted gouts of flames.

"Mom, you can talk to Aliah?" Derek asked curiously as she nodded in response.

"Why does he call you... mother?" Aliah asked, dread forming in the pit of her stomach.

"I've had the most amazing facelift, I feel thirty years younger. It's been a while you playful little salandit." She smiled.

"Nalani?" Aliah asked.

"The one and only, what do you think?" Nalani asked turning around showing off her tail.

"I expected you to be a lot more upset with me... Fatally upset." Aliah said before they both flinched from the booming laughter erupting from the corner far in the room. Shoko held on to her stomach as she chuckled at the pair.

"Dear this is the first time I've been able to move around without an IV or several nurses. I'm feeling stronger than ever, is this what being a pokemon is like?" Nalani walked over to the desk before picking it up slightly and putting it back down.

"As much I am happy for you to feel better Miss Nalani don't pick up my desk, there are many glass objects in it." Sharlene chided playfully, "Please follow Shoko, she will get you adjusted to life on the ship and help you get set up with your own living quarters."

Nalani nodded while following with the bear-like pokemon, Aliah followed but turned to Derek who gave her a simple nod to follow his mother. Nalani walked through the ship but stopped to wave at her son, as she was led through the cruise she found herself stepping to the side to avoid people and pokemon alike. Shoko guided her up a flight of stairs to the deck of the ship, Nalani stood on the deck as the sun beamed on her scales. The deck was clear with the exception of a Slowking staring out at the water reading a book, the Slowking turned to them with a smile, the crown of the creature had black swirl painted on the front.

"Alright. This is a safe enough area, Miss Nalani. I want you to try to defeat me since you can fly the only rule is that you cannot fly to do so yet." Shoko said while standing with her arms out.

Nalani tilted her head, "If it's ok with you, I would rather be taught how to fight than to you wipe the floor with me."

Shoko paused for a moment and nodded, "Fair enough, I would still like to see your capabilities first hand. So please hit me with everything you've got, you do understand how to use your natural abilities?"

Nalani nodded before sucking in a deep breath, she felt the warm churning of fire within her body before she spat a ball of purple fire at the Shoko. The Pangoro slapped the ball out of the air as the flames flickered on her arm, she winced before the flames turned a natural yellow and she could pat them out. Nalani concentrated her body as her small horns fired a small wave of electricity into the Pangoro, She watched Shoko's body stiffen and she stood there like an immobile statue. Shoko grunted as the Dragonite ran toward her and patted her on the shoulder, the look of smug defiance caused the Dragonite to smile.

"You remind me of my son, Miss Shoko. So fiery while being a pillar to those around you." Nalani patted her on the shoulder.

A smile graced the pangoro's muzzle before she stood to her full height and flexed her hands, "You are quite strong but I wouldn't put you on the front lines personally, though you might find more use working on the ship."

"What about me?" Aliah asked her tail flared up and excitement in her reptilian eyes.

"You are a natural born pokemon, depending on your disposition with your trainer you will be assisting him in his duties on the ship or on missions," Shoko answered as she was hit in the back with a blast of water that caused the missing patches of fur on her arm to slowly regrow as the burns healed. She turned to see the Slowking give her a friendly nod.

"I guess I should show you to the mess hall. The mess hall is on the top deck either door to the side will lead you inside." Shoko said while leading the pair to the room.

The large doors were flung open to reveal a large table that would be more at home with a school cafeteria than a large ship. The room was nearly empty except for a skeleton crew of kitchen staff, an Aipom cleaned tables with its large hand-like tail while a tall dark-skinned human waved at them.

Shoko raised three claws toward the human who nodded, she gestured for the other to sit down while the worker in the back cooked some food. Shoko smiled warmly, her large paws reached over to put them on top of Nalani's. A moment passed between them before Shoko spoke, her deep voice carried weight with them.

"We've done you a favor for your son's sake but I would like to know what you would like to do going forward?" Shoko rubbed her claws against the dragonite's scales, "We are criminals so there will be times that we will do illegal activities that may hurt others. We normally try to avoid hurting others or doing anything overt."

"Well until you brought me to your boat, I never heard of you guys. I just thought that my son hired better doctors. You might be cold-blooded murders, you might be drug pushers but my son trusts you and I can't exactly go back to living in Alola as a pokemon." Nalani let out a guttural laugh before reaching up to pat Shoko on the shoulders.

Shoko rubbed her head as a plate full of roots and berries were placed in front of her."Well if that is your choice then you can also apply with us, regardless we will still need you to stick around for a few months to make sure that you are adjusting to your body properly. This method isn't exactly a perfected science and any research we get will be worth it."

Nalani looked at the plate filled with diced Octillery tentacles and various roots that the Alolan pokemon couldn't even distinguish but it smelled good. She turned her head to the plate in front of Aliah, the Salazzle's plate with filled with meat and sweet smelling spices it was an Alolan dish that made Nalani's mouth water. Her eyes met Aliah, the Salazzle winked before trading plates with her.

"So Nalani?" Aliah said swallowing the fish in a single gulp as she waited for a response.

"Yes, dear?" Nalani asked.

"How do I acquire your blessing for your son's hand. I do want to make him mine after all. I've seen how you treat lesser quality females. I would enjoy not being kicked out of the family den as you did Mona." Aliah said while dropping fruit into her mouth.

"He tried to sneak a girl into my home. Of course, I kicked her out, I don't think you should get your hopes up though. I think that he is firmly interested in women of the human kind." Nalani looked at her large blunt claws, she tried to reach for the plastic fork to eat.

Shoko shook her head, "You don't have fingers anymore and dragonite use the palms of their hands to hold things. Something like a fork is outside of your capabilities. Just lean down and shove it into your mouth or pick up the whole plate."

"Thank you, Miss Shoko."

The trio continued to eat among themselves, after a few minutes a short man dressed in an overcoat several sizes too large for his thin shoulders and small frame entered the hall. He crossed the room with a wide smile on his face, he placed a case in front of Shoko.

"Bam... Took me three weeks but I found it." The man nodded to the others before opening the case, he pulled them out a large black shirt with the words: 'Bruno's Biggest Fan' written in bright yellow lettering with a golden signature of the Brunos made into the fabric. The next thing he pulled out was a metal canister.

"You won't believe how hard it was to get this but there it is. Ursaring Fit Protein Powder, do you know how much it was to get this stuff?" The small man snickered before wrapping his arms around the back of her head.

Shoko blushed as the man gave her an affectionate nibble on the ear while she fussed over her presents. She pulled him across her lap while scratching his head playfully, the large toothy smile would normally strike fear into others but the little man just chuckled as he returned her affectionate embrace.

"Shoko! Shoko, let me go! I gotta make a few reports before I'm free. I got some vintage Hoenn spirits that I'm hoping to share with a certain pokemon." He winked as he crawled away from her grasp.

Nalani and Aliah shared a puzzled look between themselves, Shoko ignored their curious glances as she placed the presents into her box. A look of embarrassment crossed her face as she spoke, "I apologize about my lack of decorum but my paramour has been gone a while, so I couldn't just ignore him."

"Wait...wait... wait... That human is your lover?" Aliah stood up with her hands on the table, confusion was written on her face.

"One of them, though he would be my favorite."

"Teach me."

"I think it would be best if you don't. I enjoy the idea of not having to deal with my son being antagonized by your affections." Nalani chuckled as she stood up, her wings slapped both of the females as she turned.

"S-sorry.." Nalani apologize.

The group finally made their way back into infirmary as Shoko lead them to the various pokemon and humans that staff the boat. Shoko left them in the infirmary with two Lopunnies. The pair grinned at one another while pulling out various tools, Nalani was rushed to another small room in the infirmary while Aliah was directed into her own private chambers.

"Hello Ma'am, congratulations on your transformation there are a few of us who have had that done. There is even a few pokemon hoping to see if they can go in the other direction. I must say that lovely gray scales on your body really bring out an exotic charm to the dragonite line."

Nalani tried to focus on the Lopunny but she couldn't tear her gaze from the long cylindrical object in the male's hand. He was applying medical lubricant to it while moving around the room. Nalani unconsciously found herself moving further back toward the exit.

"Miss Nalani, please understand with our current technology we can't make use of a pokecenter station on the ship. So I have to be a little analog with our treatment, will you cooperate?"

The gray dragonite took a deep breath and moved to the metal table, she climbed on the table while resting her belly on the cool metal. The Lopunny lifted her tail, Nalani closed her eyes as she felt the gloved paws moving about her backside with medical precision. Nalani silently counted to herself, started at the wallpaper of a buxom woman sitting on a pokeball, anything she could to distract herself from the pokemon currently playing in her cloaca.

"This might sting a little."

Sting was an understatement, Nalani writhe at the uncomfortable sensation of the rod being shoved inside of her. The device went from cold to warm in a few seconds. She gripped the metal table with enough power to leave small dents in the metal, the device began vibrating and beeping. Nalani closed her eyes and let the embarrassment crash over her like a tidal wave.

"Why is it so big? You damn lopunnies are crazy! Nalani! Help me!" Aliah shouted from her side of the room, "It's vibrating, why is it vibrating?!"

The device finally let out a soft beep before medically trained lopunny pulled it out, there was a tense pause even before the lopunny spoke. "Well, it seems that overall you are genetically no different than a dragonite. We have your records on hand and will forward them to the boss, sorry about the uncomfortable device but this is all we can use on the ship for a complete biopsy." The lopunny sighed before walking in front of Nalani and placing the device on a counter, the device was positively soaked her Nalani's juices. The doctor didn't even pause to pull off his gloves before opening a jar and stuffing a pokeblock into Nalani's mouth.

The pair were interrupted by Aliah pushing aside the curtains and hissing in pure reptilian fury, the salazzle was trembling. She was also chewing a pokeblock and her expression was of pure embarrassment. Nalani rolled off of the table and gave Aliah a hug, "It's okay, I'm very embarrassed too."

"I'm not embarrassed I'm just..." Aliah hissed and sputtered in confusion. "My backside hurts, why is that thing so large?!"

"When you are done being drama queens, You are free to leave." The other lopunny doctor mocked from behind the curtain.

The pair began wandering the halls, for a while, Aliah simply hissed and growled with frustration. The salazzle found a certain joy in being able to speak to the dragonite, this would be her way into Derek's heart. She opened her mouth to speak but Nalani stopped as the blond furret stumbled out of a room, the creature had a look of pure bliss on her face as she held the wall. Aliah could smell the strong scent of pleasure from between the pokemon's legs and the smell of sweet foods.

"Are you okay, Miss Olivia?" Nalani asked reaching down to help the pokemon maintain her balance.

"No! I'm not okay!" The ferret-like pokemon slurred with a giggle, her paws wiggled playfully. "That is not okay, that should never be okay. Pokemon are jerks! I swear I'm gonna bop you all on the head for keeping this a secret."

"Was it really that good for you?" A fat espeon trotted out the room followed by a delphox with a chef's hat and an armband marking her as kitchen staff.

"Why do I get the feeling we are missing out on some human thing?" The delphox said before regarding the dragonite. "Hello, Naliah and Anani."

"That's Nalani and Aliah. What's going on?" Nalani asked while making sure that Olivia was steady on her paws.

The chubby espeon spoke up first, "My former trainer learned there is a trained groomer on board this ship, she had her first grooming as a pokemon. I think she is just being dramatic."

"I'm not being dramatic. That man has magic hands." Olivia curled up against the wall, "I'm just going to live outside this door now. Tell Mark, he has been replaced by the Groomer."

"Groomers are that good?" Nalani asked.

The pokemon shrugged before Aliah spoke up, "Why not try it? It could be a human thing."

"I'll go back and try a second time if that is-" Olivia started sliding away from the door as the Espeon dragged her by the tail with its psychic power. "No Silky, don't take me away from the happy place. Magic hands! Maaaaaagic hands!"

"I bet she is from Johto or Kanto," Aliah said with a dismissive snort of fire.

"I wouldn't be surprised but I think I'll hold off on going to the groomer here. We should find my son." Nalani chuckled but still glanced at the groomers door, the sounds of pleasing moaning made her curious.

The pair continued to wander the ship until they found themselves in the exercise room, Nalani was surprised that she managed to wander the cruise ship for over an hour without feeling tired. She noticed the various trainers and their pokemon working out, her attention was drawn to a human being buzzed at by a volcarona. The human was simply glaring a small metal ball, as she got closer she noticed that it was her son dressed in simple workout clothes.

'Lift the heaviest ball you can.' The sun pokemon droned, small motes of fire scattered from every flap of its wings as it moved a fifty-pound ball.

Derek focused and grunted, the veins in his neck bulged as he strained his mind. The small ten-pound ball at the end of the room rolled around in a complex pattern, even Nalani would admit that it was a little unsettling to see her son doing that. Derek sighed and rubbed the back of his head, frustration clear on his face.

"I'm no Sabrina, Vola. If you wanted a crazy powerful psychic that then I think you cover all of our bases." The human fanned himself as he tried to deal with the heat rolling off the sun pokemon. He planted himself at the weight bench and spread his legs while trying to catch his breath.

The large burning moth wriggled her claws and flicked out her proboscis in indifference. 'It's just a test. The last test is simply to read the mind of a pokemon. It may take some time but it will be very helpful if you can learn to read thoughts and translate them.'

Aliah stepped closer, her movements were sensual and playful as she rolled a clawed digit along Derek's cheek. Vola flicked a gaze to the Alolan reptile, even with her expressionless face... Malevolence was clearly written in her body language.

`You are killing your trainer.' Vola let the words of her thoughts spread to everyone in the room. 'Regardless of his own disposition, you are taking advantage of him. Human lungs can't take the burning of your pheromones as frequently as you are doing it to him. The damage to his abilities as a psychic is already present, addiction disrupts the ability even in pokemon.'

Aliah cocked her head, she sat in his lap while tracing her claws along his face. "You can talk to him. Let him know what I'm thinking, my feelings and my desire. I dare not voice them while his mother can understand me."

There was a tense silence between all of them, the only sound was the clanging of gym equipment and the occasional grunt of exertion. Derek finally sighed and gazed at Aliah then at the dragonite gazing down at both of them. He stood up and placed a finger on Aliah's snout, something he only did when she misbehaved as a salandit. The pair shared a pregnant silence before shaking his head.

"I'm not ready for that." Aliah hissed at Derek's words and pointed to Nalani, Derek watched as his pokemon stomped her foot in annoyance.

"I know my mother is a pokemon, I know that there are humans like that on this boat. I don't know if I want you because of the poison or because I always have. This isn't a no..." Derek felt his chest tighten as he spoke, "Let me get clean and ask me again."

"You can't tell me that this is my fault, you asked for this! Don't make me beg, I won't beg. You will see that you love me... I... Well..." Aliah took a sigh and turned away from Derek with a less than dignified snort. "Salazzles don't beg. I don't want to kill you with my poison. So I will wait for you to realize I am the best you will ever have."

'That's a little much for me. I would suggest you all get your affairs in order, messy relationship drama isn't good for team cohesion.' Vola's thoughts poked at this with an irritated drone that clashed with her expressionless face. 'Derek and Aliah will be bunking in room 203 and Nalani you will be bunking in room 104 in the lower decks. Your roommate is a delphox named Maddie, you should introduce yourself. Tomorrow Aliah and Derek will meet me in my office while Nalani will meet with Shoko on the deck. Dismissed.'

Nalani tapped Aliah on the shoulder, "I think we should go see the groomer. You look like you could use a buddy."

"I'm not so frail that I can't handle rejection. I'm more upset that I was killing him, I thought I controlled my poison well, I just liked the way he would touch me." Aliah said as they left the gym room, her gaze lingered on Derek as she walked further from the gym.

"I don't think you are frail, I just think it would be funny to swap stories you can tease him with later." Nalani chuckled, "I do remember a fond story about how Derek managed to get picked on by local ditto."

"That... sounds pathetic but he did join Team Skull because he liked their hats." Aliah muttered.

"I... I really thought it was something deeper and more rebellious." Nalani groaned with her massive hand over her face.

"Nope. He really liked those hats, he even took a bunch when he left." Aliah said, "Along with some armbands, a few chains, and even a jacket small enough to fit me."

"I feel like he doesn't take after me at all. His father was the same."

Derek watched the pair chatting in the hallway and felt that he was missing out on something he shouldn't be hearing. He shrugged it off and began to focus on moving the weighted balls once again. "I swear they are talking about me."

Nalani met with cooks, accountants, breeders, doctors, assassins, with the ship's main crew and eventually, she was even introduced to the ship, which bore the unfortunate name of the Sultry Maiden. Nalani was allowed to move about the ship on her own once they were sure she wouldn't melt from her recent transformation, Nalani found herself standing just outside of the groomers quarters. She stared at the door with its small listening of times in bright blue lettering, there wasn't a price listed anywhere. Nalani took a deep breath and pushed the door open, the room was dim with dull pink lights that gave the room a romantic glow. Across the room sat a dark-skinned Unovan man wearing a loose fitting shirt with a large straw hat, the man gazed up from his chair at Nalani.

"Well. You are a new face, You must be the Alolan mother that was brought on to the ship." He stepped forward reached a hand to touch the scales of her stomach. "Yes, Yes. You are definitely a dragonite now, the organs feel correct and you have the muscle definition of a heavily trained-" The man caught himself and chuckled, "Sorry sorry. I let the job get a hold of me. I'm Doctor Thomas Kit, you can call me Kit. I work on this ship as the groomer, emergency doctor, and therapist."

"Ah, so you are the person with magic hands." Nalani offered a hand to the much smaller man. "I am Nalani."

"I can't understand a word you are saying, I don't speak pokemon but if you need to say something to me. My assistant can translate, she can read and write fine." Kit's pointed to the Clefable, Rikka, that was snoring quietly in the corner, from the pink light she was almost invisible against the background. He clasped her hands with a strong grip that barely manage to wrap around two of her claws

Nalani shook her head, with a simple smell she could tell there were so many fertile females and males that climaxed in this room. She wondered if the little unassuming groomer was more than what meets the eye, she sniffed close to his face. The smell of lotion tickled her nose, he smelled older than he looked and something about him just gave the impression of health.

"Oh. I'm sorry I didn't mean to be so rude. You just smell... good." Nalani said while sniffing over Kit's hair and hands.

"Well aren't you an affectionate one. Hope upon the table, I'll get a bit of oil that will really bring out the shine of your scales. Just lay on your back and we can get started." Kit reached into a cabinet for several bottles of lotion.

The sound of her trainer moving was enough to wake Rikka up, She yawned before pulling a chair close to Nalani. Rikka took a long look at the much larger Nalani, she quickly rubbed a claw over Nalani scales in disbelief. "An odd-looking furret and now an ash gray dragonite. How's it going, Sugar, adjusting well?"

"Amazingly. I've never felt so good in my life, I feel like a superhero. Do all pokemon feel this strong?" Nalani asked.

Rikka smiled and tapped her dexterous claws against Nalani's scales, "Couldn't say I'm not covered in scaled and I'm not that big but... You are a dragonite. You are strong."

"So what do I do as a pokemon. I've been human all my life, I've not had much of a need for a pokemon of my own." Nalani thought about it for a second, "What happens if someone captures me? Is that it, am I a slave for the rest of-" Nalani's words ended in a low moan as Kit's elbow rubbing against a sensitive spot on her lower back.

"He has that effect on pokemon. So you are worried about getting captured? well someone on this ship is going to capture you so you don't get mistaken for a wild pokemon." Rikka leaned in, "So I'm here to help. So ask away, I'm a pokemon that was wild as they get and I've only been under Kit's care for fifteen years."

"How old are you?" Nalani asked immediately, evolved or not Rikka looked younger than she was.

"I don't keep track that well but I'm about sixty-eight or sixty-nine." She snorted, "About the middle of the road for clefable, not that most of us live that long in the wild."

Nalani stared at the pokemon for a long moment, she realized that she didn't know how long she would even live as a dragonite. "You are older than me, that puts me at ease. I guess I should ask another question, why do you listen to your trainer?"

Rikka spun in the office chair and considered the question, "Were you married before you got changed?"

"I was," Nalani replied.

"A pokemon and their trainer's relationship is like that. Every pokemon from the youngest rattata to the eldest legendary feels a draw to humans. Some the draw is aggressive and they have to prove themselves. I was drawn to Kit simply because he was the first human to explore my cavern in the mountain."

"Love at first sight?" Nalani asked.

"I tried to kill him," Rikka replied with an embarrassed chuckle.

"My cave was high up enough that I thought I could simply knock him out. I didn't get a chance, all I remember was charging forward and getting attacked by a ranger's pokemon." She stopped the chair with her foot to face Nalani, "I was interrupting a rescue of a trainer that collapsed on the other side of my cave. The ranger's pokemon was going to kill me but he stopped them and captured me."

"So what changed your mind?" Nalani asked, her gaze fixed on the clefable.

"Well, Sugar, It wasn't his winning personality. The pokeball helped a bit, the inside of those things are freaky but once inside it calms you down a bit. I struggled to get out even as weak as I was, it was a few hours later but he let me out. I was his first pokemon since he became a doctor, I found myself interested in his books. He wasn't a trainer so I spent a lot of time just watching pokemon with broken bones coming to get them set." Rikka paused and reached on a nearby counter to pluck a soft candy and stick it in her mouth.

She chewed carefully and looked at her welled manicure claws, the expression on her face was distant and wistful. "I started to learn his way of doing things, it just felt right. I would talk to the pokemon he worked with and help him out. I listen to him because he is my dear friend, I'd say he is more like a husband. I might disagree with him and he might grumble at me but we'd trust each other with our lives."

Nalani listened to Rikka words as she turned her gaze to the man digging his fingers into the backside. Strong hands kneaded her butt in ways that brought soft moans from her snout, her tiny wings flapped happily in response. She returned her gaze to Rikka, the other pokemon held a smug smile of satisfaction.

"You don't get jealous that he is doing this to other pokemon?" Nalani half-moan out the words as she felt his hands working her stubby legs.

Rikka laughed and raised both of her claws the soft padding under her paws was lightly smooth but even a casual glance revealed slight calluses. "Sugar, I work with the humans and I think do a better job."

Nalani chuckled and slowly let the doctor work over her stiff body, it was an hour later before the messaging stopped and she was let out of the office. She stood at the doorway looking a little disappointed at the pair. Every bit of her massive scaled frame felt like heaven, she radiated contentment but something felt off.

"Something wrong?" Rikka asked.

"I... expected the session to get more intimate," Nalani admitted.

"You didn't ask, come back next week or you can pay to get in sooner." Rikka shrugged, "You're a pokemon now, Sugar, you don't have to all timid like dating humans."

Nalani thanked her and quickly made her way to the deck of the ship, the only other person out there was Derek. Her son was propped against the railing with his pokedex in hand, he was fast asleep. She stepped to the center of the deck and spread her wings, a single flap was all it took to tell her how powerful those tiny wings were. Nalani debated getting a running start but the knowledge implanted in her told her that wasn't necessary she was powerful enough to fly with a simple jump.

She jumped and immediately released a scream of surprise as she went six feet into the air. She spread her wings and flapped in a panic, her body rocked for a moment as she tried to steady her pace. She quickly caught herself as she flopped over the ship, the smell of seawater was oddly pleasant like a home that she didn't know she had.

Nalani circle around the ship in a slow spiral, even several hundred feet in the darkness she could make out several water-type pokemon swimming near the ship. Nictitating membranes in her eyes worked like a magnifying lens and protective goggles. She could see something swimming close to the ship not too large and not too small, she spread her wings and dived toward the pokemon. The wind rushing over her face felt amazing as she crashed into the water, she immediately headbutted the creature and sent a jolt of electricity through its body. The creature went slack before she pulled it out with the water and tossed it on the deck of the ship to get a better look.

The pokemon was covered in smooth blue-white fur with a horn on its head, large black eyes glanced up at Nalani with a flash of fear and the pokemon quickly calmed down seeing her massive form. Nalani knew of the pokemon it was a seel, a Kanto sea lion pokemon.

"Are you trying to capture me?" The seel stiffened as he turned his attention to the wide-awake Derek who was standing up.

Nalani stared at the pokemon she caught, she didn't want to eat it... she didn't want to even hurt it. "I just felt like grabbing you and I don't know why."

The seel looked at the human, "Can you toss me back? Quickly?"

"You don't seem scared of me, are dragonite and your kind on good terms?" Nalani felt guilty suddenly snatching the pokemon out of the water but his reaction intrigued her.

"You aren't from the Dragon's Den?" A horrifying realization flashed on the seel's face before he scampered off the side at an awkward gait.

"Were you going to eat him, Mom?" Derek asked.

Nalani shook her head and turned to her son, she wasn't going to learn much just talking to pokemon. She pointed to the card-shaped pokedex sticking out of his pocket, she worked hard to convey that he should scan her. It took a moment for him to understand her but he scanned her, the pokedex blipped and Derek's eyebrows rose in surprise.

"Wow. You are high level, what dragonite did they use for you. I'd love to capture a pokemon that strong." Derek whistled and put the device back in his pocket.

Nalani took a deep breath and put out her fist like a boxer, she then made a tossing gesture. She didn't want to hurt anyone but the budding energy in her body made her want to see what it could do. She didn't feel sick, she felt stronger than she did even when she was a healthy young woman.

"I don't think that is a good idea. I mean, it a big gap between our strength. Nalani isn't as strong as you are." Derek rubbed the back of his head, "And it feels kinda weird to beat up my mom."

Nalani nodded and turned away, she took a single step before bumping into a delphox. The smaller creature stumbled back but caught herself with a burst of psychic energy.

"H-Hello, I'm your roommate, Maddie. We met earlier but I was dealing with the other former human. I wasn't eavesdropping but I heard you wanted to fight. I'm not strong but I could help you, would you like to fight?" Maddie shook a bit and held up a ladle.

"I've... not been in a fight since I was a little girl so I'm out of my element here. Miss Maddie." Nalani said as she watched the water sliding off her scales.

Maddie closed her eyes for a moment and moved to the middle of the deck. She waved Derek away to the side of the deck, she waved her ladle a few times and began to stretch a bit. Her gaze level at her roommate, she had been practicing with Olivia so she should be able to take on another human in pokemon skin. The muscles hidden under Nalani's pudgy looking body might be a threat.

"So what are the rules?" Nalani asked, snapping Maddie out of her thoughts.

"We um... fight to surrender. Use anything you can to win, I haven't fought much so I need the practice." Maddie held her ladle out and spat a gout of fire over it until the tip was red hot. "Let's begin."

Nalani sucked in a deep breath opened her claws out, Maddie held out her ladle as flames circled around it. The process only took a few seconds before single large circle whirled between, Nalani moved to the side the circle of flame mirrored her movements. Maddie opened her mouth and hell's gates open with her, mystical fire launched out of her mouth in a strange swirling pattern.

Pain erupted across Nalani's chest, the fire burned for a moment and she patted out her scales in a panic. Nalani could see that a few of her scales were scorched, it suddenly clicked in her head why she wasn't screaming and dying on the floor. She was a dragon, dragons are resistant to fire. She charged Maddie her claws outstretched even as more flames pelted her face, her shoulders, and even her arms.

Maddie dodged her first swipe, the second swipe caught the delphox in the chest and sent her to the ground. Nalani leaned down with her antennae and used them to send an electric pulse through Maddie's prone form. The effect was immediate, joints locked up and the delphox whimpered in confusion. Nalani reared back massive arm and brought it down like a club, against Maddie's chest. Admittedly it was something she had seen Lance's dragonite do in the shows. The blow hit home with enough for that her ribs cracked audibly to Nalani's sensitive ears.

"Mom. Move!" Derek shouted and dropped to one knee near Maddie.

He popped out small green crystal crushed it in his hands. He dropped the nearly powdered stone into Maddie's mouth. Derek brought out potions and paralyzes with the rapid response expected of a trainer. Maddie cough a bit of blood with speckled with revive crystals on the back of her arm. She gagged at the horrid tasting things and slowly got to her feet, she stood up to Nalani and rubbed her still sore chest. She turned to Derek and his pokedex slowly levitated out of his pocket.

"Uuuh sure," Derek said responded to the mental urging of the delphox. He scanned Maddie then scanned his mother again.

"You are level thirty-seven and my mom is level sixty-three. She could have taken your head off if she aimed for the neck. I thought you would have been stronger since you challenged her." Derek thumped Maddie on nose getting an embarrassing whine in response.

"Ow." Maddie rose to her feet and placed her ladle over her shoulder. "I t-thought I might have been able to teach you something."

"You did teach me something." Nalani admitted, "Restraint. I've never been this healthy or strong."

Maddie wagged her bushy tail as she stood up and regarded Derek. "I've invited a few of my friends including Olivia to our room. Sharlene let me make a few Alolan dishes from the cookbook."

"Can I invite my son?" Nalani asked while looking over Derek, she noticed that he found himself a beanie similar to his skull beanie. His fashion sense was definitely his father's.

"Of course. Shoko and Olivia brought their human friends. We should get back before Olivia decides to eat what I made." Maddie said.

"I'm having a hard time believing this place is a criminal group. What have you done?" Nalani asked bluntly.

"They killed my trainer in front of me. I don't know what else they do, I just work as a cook." Maddie scratched at her massive ear fluff. "We should go before the food gets cold."

Nalani wanted to be suspicious. She wanted to decry the evils of this organization, real or imagined. She could only think about how healthy she felt and how her body didn't ache, they were going to fix her son and pay him well. There were no free meals but she would make sure her son was safe.
