Hey! This series is nearing its end. I want to focus on my other series, and I have another idea for a new series in a different setting and theme.

I own all my characters, if you want to use them, just ask.

This story has no yiff, there will be some at the end of the series though. So I guess its clean right now.

Comments and such are welcome. Enjoy!

Chapter 4.

Three weeks after the diner shooting by the supposedly defunct Human League, there were more attacks, and even a bombing. A shooting in Houston occurred at the O'Bern and WInston building in Houston, a few people and a security guard were injured. An Army recruiting center was shot up, no injuries thankfully, that was recruiting furs at the time. Then to top it all off, the Texas Governor's motorcade was shot at by two red vans. The convoy took a route to get away and a trash can exploded next to the Governor's limo, damaging it. The Governor was okay, but two State Troopers were killed and one injured when they chased down the red vans. Also, two attacks happened in California, in L.A. and San Francisco, and one in Chicago. The Human League took credit for all the attacks, and sent warnings of mass murder to various TV stations and anthro havens, sparking a massive country wide hunt for the League before anything worse happened.

Dan finally got his arm sling off, and was cleared for duty. He was still a bit stiff, so Allison would not let him drive on patrol. All DoD and FBI and police were wearing bullet proof vests, and armed a bit heavier than usual. Even though the attacks were happening all over the country, the epicenter was Texas, with his town and county being ground zero for it all. Even the Army Criminal Investigation Department was looking into the league after the recruitment center shooting.

Dan and Allison sat in their brown and tan Ford Crown Victoria cruiser, in front of the town's only coffee shop on Main Street. Despite the fear and danger, many people were going about their daily lives, determined not to let a bunch of cowardly bigots ruin their loves. Old ladies and stay at home moms window shopped at the family owned boutiques and antique stores. Kids and parents walked in and out of the ice cream shop, enjoying the frozen treats on the very hot summer day. A few kids roller bladed and skate boarded by, weaving in and out of the passerby.

"It's drop off day for the bank's currency." Dan said from the passenger seat, pointing to the armored truck in front of the town's bank.

"Yup. Four guards, two more than usual. And one has a shotgun." Allison said.

"Yeah. Nobody is taking chances." Dan said, sipping his iced coffee, trying to cool off. "The sun has moved and now I'm in the sun, lets go park on the other side of the street, I'm boiling right now."

"Ok." Allison said, steering the cop car around to the other side of the street, about twenty yards in front of the armored truck. "Wuss."

"Hey, you sit over here. Its damned hot, even with the AC blasting and my iced coffee. Its 102 outside right now." Dan said flatly.

"Hey, weren't the guards at that truck that went in a fox, a doberman, a husky, and a tiger?"

"Yeah. Why?" Dan asked, turning around in his seat to peer at the truck. Two humans were standing at the door of the bank, waiving on people trying to get in the bank, from the lips moving, something about transport security.

"Shit. Those are humans, there weren't any humans." Allison said, grabbing the radio. "Dispatch, unit four, Allison here. We have a possible bank robbery and armored car hijacking in progress, send back up quietly. WIll asses and report in."

"Roger unit 4, backup in one minute."

The tow cops got out of the cruiser, walking passed the parked cars and trucks, toward the bank. The two human "guards" looked at the cops wearily for a second. but quickly put on pleasant faces. They were bad actors. Even if they were the real guards, they wouldn't care about the two cops approaching.

"Morning Sheriff, deputy. What can i do for ya?" The tallest guard with the shotgun said. The other walking up next to him. Allison walked up and stood before the second guard.

"Not much. Just wondering how the shift is going. Been pretty volatile around here." Dan said carefully, and flatly, with no emotion.

"Yeah. Security has been beefed up a bit. We have orders and an agreement with the bank to stop all foot traffic in and out while the transfer is in progress." The guard said.

"I wasn't aware." Dan said. His eyes narrowing and his ears folding back a bit.

"Huh. Weird." The guard said.

Suddenly the banks alarm went off, screeching, catching everyone's attention. The two "guards" lifted up their weapons with a sneer. Dan and Allison reacted faster. Allison spun her guard around quickly and snapped his neck as he went down. Dan grabbed the shotgun and pulled, then pushed as hard as he could, ramming the butt of it into the human's ribs, snapping them. The shotgun went off as Dan flung it to the ground, and spun, kicking the human in the jaw with a heavy boot, knocking him out either cold or dead.

They pulled their guns and flanked the bank doors, the shades were down, they weren't supposed to be, so they couldn't see it. But shots rang out again as the two remaining humans randomly fired their Uzis at the windows, shattering them and shredding the blinds.

Screams from inside the bank and from the street could be heard, and pedestrians dove behind cover and cars zoomed off. Dan and Allison crouched under the windows, waiting for the fire to stop. When it did, and their keen ears heard the click of discharging clips, they raced in, keeping their profiles low and their guns high.

One human stood on the bank tellers' counter, likely having just been forcing them to put money in a bad, another on the ground floor, covering the either unconscious or disarmed bank guard and four armored car guards. Dan double tapped the ground floor human in the heart, and one in the head between the eyes, preventing any "death grip" reflex from firing his loaded gun randomly. Allison dropped the human on the counter with two bullets in her brain, dropping her and making her fall back behind the counter.

The two cops checked the vault, seeing that much of the money was gone.

"These were only diversions as the other's got the jackpot." Dan said, racing back to the lobby where some of the guards had armed themselves with the human guns, and, along with two FBI agents and two deputies, were helping up the frightened bystanders.

Everybody heard shouting and car doors closing. The six cops ran outside to see two red vans racing from behind the banks onto Main Street, toward the highway. Two deputies stayed behind while Ally and Dan and the two FBI agents raced to their cars and gave chase.

"Dispatch, this is unit four. We are in pursuit of two vehicles, repeat two vehicles, headed south to the interstate, involved in a bank heist. We need all available backup, consider armed and very dangerous." Dan spoke into the radio, as Ally drove the wailing and flashing cruiser through the town, the V8 engine on the sedan making it easy to catch up to the lumbering vans. THe FBI sedan was not far behind either.

"Roger that unit 4. All available backup en-route. One minute away." The dispatcher calmly replied.

The back door on the closest van opened up, showing a human male, tethered to a hook inside the van, wielding another Uzi. He raised his gun and fired at the two pursuing cars.

"Get down!" Dan said, as both ducked as the gunfire shattered the windshield and a few lights on the light bar.

"Oh no he didn't. Dan, we need to shoot back." Ally said.

"In a minute. All radio stations in range are broadcasting a warning. The highway signs are too, for those not listening to the radio." Dan said.

A minute later, another pair of deputies, in one of the new Dodge Charger cars, and two state troopers joined in the chase. After a minute or two of dodging bullets and civilian vehicles, the traffic cleared, allowing the officers to fire back, but also making it easier to drive at higher speeds. More bullets pelted Dan's cruiser. He leaned over and unlocked the shotgun from it mount between the seats, and leaned out the window.

"Steady, I'm going for the tires." Dan said. Pumping the shotgun, he waited for the cruiser to get a bit closer to the van. He fired when he had a good shot at the wheels. He missed as Ally swerved the car to avoid the van, which was trying to hit them. The back opened up again and the human fired, the shots going wild. Dan fired back and hit his target. The man slumped, bloody, and fell back into the van, its back doors swinging side to side.

Dan ducked quickly back inside as the van slowed down, and pulled up to the cruiser. Another FBI car pulled up on the other side. The driver pulled out a small pistol and fired, missing the sheriff as he tried to drive and shoot. Dan fired back, killing the driver. The van swerved, bashing the Sheriffs car before swerving the other way, nearly hitting the FBI sedan, and crashing into the guard rail and flipping over three times. Three cruisers stopped at the van and the cops ran up guns ready to deal with any survivors who might fight back.

The remaining van kept driving, this one was faster. No one inside fired back, but it kept ahead, giving the wounded and non wounded cruisers a run for their money. The van suddenly drove off the highway where there was no rail, and crashed through a pasture and its fences, scaring the grazing, non anthro milk cows.

Allison and the four other vehicles gave chase, following the fleeing van. It pulled up to an old farmhouse and skidded to a stop. Four humans piled out, firing randomly at the approaching cops. Three more came out of the house, wielding assault rifles. These fired more accurately, pelting the cop cars. The cops and agents stopped near the house and created a small barricade with their vehicles and took cover.

Dan jumped out and ran behind his shot up cruiser, firing his Glock at the humans. Two more suburbans rolled up, and six FBI SWAT troopers piled and and returned fire with their high powered weapons, dropping a human.

Dan fired at on the the masked humans, dropping him like a rag doll. The gun fight continued for only a few short minutes, as police and FBI and DoD backup arrived every minute, while a human dropped every minute.

Half an hour after the last shot fired, by a cop of course, the SWAT team gave the all clear signal, and Zack, Dan, and Judy walked in to inspect the small house. They found tons of weapons, several Human League flags lots of bomb components, and even tons of documents. They found names, address, and phone numbers of secret, underground HL members, some of them, surprisingly, anthros, who wanted to be human again. That explained the pitbulls and other anthros who were at various HL crime scenes, that seemed to be involved.

The documents were immediately sent to the FBI Austin field office by chopper to be analyzed and have the info sent to law enforcement agencies so the members could be arrested.

Kristen arrived after documents pertaining to her pharmaceutical company were found. When Dan asked her about this, she confessed.

"Oaky. I haven't said anything because i am under orders by the DoD not too. But since it is pertinent, and Zack has give us the clearance to hear it, i will tell you. That "vampire" that attacked your agents and you, Dan, was not a vampire, but a hybrid. He was an anthro that volunteered for tests and genetic alteration. We were trying to see if we could reverse the anthro DNA caused by the virus a century ago." Kristen said sheepishly.

"You were trying to cure us?!" Dan said.

"NO! Not at all!" She said. "The DoD wanted our help to reverse the DNA so they could plant more humans into dangerous, anti human organizations. The government only has a few qualified humans, and fewer willing to go undercover. THe one we have encountered was our first and only subject. The reversal went well, but we realized too late, and too far, almost 85% through the gene therapy, that his mind was being altered, and so was his physical power and speed. At first the DoD was excited, thinking we had stumbled upon a super soldier. I immediately terminated the project form our end, and was going to try to cure the patient of his new aggressive tendencies, but it failed, so the DoD, wanting to turn it into a super soldier project took over our lab forcibly, and tried to transport the subject under anesthesia, to their labs. The subject got loose, and turned violent. He wanted revenge against the company, and the government, and anthros. He Is the one that is behind all this, and the one who resurrected the Human League." Kristen said.

"What about the vampire stuff?" Judy asked.

"Scare tactics. And it worked. He is psycho, so bit the dead victims with his long, still canine teeth, and drank their blood."

"This is serious shit. More than i thought. Now i get why the company and DoD are involved, not just because of the breach of security at corporate and Winston's house." Dan said.

"Yep. Thats the story." Kristen said, looking ashamed. "I'm sorry i couldn't tell you. even after you and Ian were almost killed. I couldn't even tell Judy. Zack didn't even know."

"No. I thought i was here just to make sure there were no threats on the DoD and its security." Zack said, just as shocked as everyone else.

"Director!" An agent aid, waving over the four furs. "We found this. An address with one name: Zieglemen."

"That is the name of the run away volunteer subject." Kristen piped in.

"We found him." Judy said, sneering. "Lets get that bastard."

"Lead on. I have a surprise to show y'all." Dan said, smirking.
