#1 of P.O.D.S

Just a little something I came up with, that's clearly and heavily inspired by an anime I watched a long time ago (rewatching currently as well), those who know what anime I'm talking about, kudos to you, those who don't, no biggie or harm done~

Just hope that this will help me get back into the swing of things in the long run.

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen, we are absolutely thrilled that you decided to get a P.O.D.S of your own. What is a P.O.D.S you ask?

Well, it's none other than the latest in communication and cyber-operations technology, the Personal Operations and Development System. Imagine the capabilities of the latest touch screen mobile phone and PCs, combine them then quadruple the results, the capabilities of a P.O.D.S are WAY more than that!

But the most sought after capability is the freely customizable, highly intelligent and quite sentient A.I program that comes with your purchase. They are your Navigators throughout your P.O.D.S experience or Navis for short.

Now that alone might sound dull and boring, I'm sure you're saying to yourself 'Why the hell do I need an A.I to help me with what I already know?' well fear not friends, for the Navis can do more than their name applies, for instance, they act as your organizers and help you plan your day any way you wish, they can interact with you as any living creature could, but the most sought after ability in any Navi is their capability to combat computer virus, malware and hacking attempts from your run-of-the-mill hackers or even other Navis.

However, that's not all. The owner, or Admin, can actually fight alongside their Navis against the nefarious elements of the cyber world, with the use of your Battle Deck, a set of cards you can slide through a special card reader in your P.O.D.S, the card reader will then transport that data into powerful abilities and weapons for your Navi to use when in combat against powerful enemies.

Now, let's talk about the Navis in deeper detail. There are many shapes, sizes, forms and personalities among the Navis.

For instance, the Frames. The Frame of the Navis is just that, the external/physical characteristics and properties that categorize them among that certain Frame pool.

There are six in total: Human, Beastman, Reptilian, Avian, Marine, and Insectoid.

Besides the Frames, there are Combat Types, each specifying the roles and strengths of each Navi under one of those.

There are six CTs in total: Striker, Defender, Berserker, Ranger, Caster, and Support.

Strikers: Masters of close combat and close range weaponry, can deal massive damage in just a few blows, while their agility and speed allow them to create distance from their opponents when in danger, as well as close that distance when an opportunity to strike reveals itself.

Defenders: Powerful in body and can take quite the punishment, although most are slow in movement, they make up for it by being unpenetrable fortresses.

Berserkers: Angry, impulsive and brash, they can dish out more damage than multiple strikers combined but lack the common sense to retreat when danger arises, in fact, their 'spirits' are rekindled, urging them to fight, the lack the physical defense that Defenders have, but more than makeup for it with swift strikes and a large HP stats.

Rangers: Long range experts and masters in stealth and assassination techniques. They excel at taking down enemies from large distances as well as conceal their presence when required. Pretty handy tactics since they don't have the proper stats for close and direct confrontations.

Casters: Masters of the elements and terrain manipulation, their 'spells' can create opportunities while disorienting their opponents in equal measures.

Support: Healing and buffing their allies is their bread and butter, and even though they are the weakest when it comes to direct combat, their virus/malware extermination abilities are above all the others.

Now for the attributes of the Navis and Battle Cards, or in-game speak 'elements'

There are nine in total: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Wood, Electricity, Light, Darkness, and Generic. The last one only applies to the Battle Cards.

A Navi's attribute, or element, is another characteristic that's mostly shown through their external color and small details in their physical form. Their elements also specify which elemental cards they're able to use in combat since they can only use cards from the same element as they are as well as Generic since those cards are usable by all elements, the only catch is that they're not powerful, to begin with, most actually avoid using them altogether.

Navis has both a Rank system and Combat Level, each calculated and confirmed by local authorized personnel.

A Navi's Rank can range from E to S, Navis and Admins undertake special requests that will give them a certain amount of Recognition points or Reco points, once a certain amount is accumulated, the Admin and Navi become qualified to take on a Rank-up Exam if they succeed they rise in rank, fail and nothing will happen, merely a tiny deduction in accumulated Reco points and they can't undertake the exam again until at least a week has passed, plenty of time to regain those deducted points.

Combat Level is calculated after a battle or virus extermination missions, with the former giving way more points than the latter, there's no set level cap as of yet, but there might be in the future.

Another way to earn CL and Reco points is by undertaking Missions, Requests, and Dungeons posted by the local authorities in Cybercrime Prevention.

Missions and Requests are posted regularly and anyone in that certain rank/level or above can take them on.

Dungeons are cyberspaces that have a large number of viruses and malicious Navis, they're generally viewed as a large mass of negative data, which attracts them.

Now for the Battle Cards. As mentioned earlier, the Battle Cards are compressed data that is transmitted to your Navi to use during combat, be they a Navi's exclusive/special abilities, elemental abilities, combat type abilities and support abilities.

Also mentioned earlier, is that Navis can't use cards from other elements, except for Generic which is the neutral element that anyone can use.

Now for the different cards that are at an Admin's disposal.

Elemental: Cards that hold the power of a certain element, mostly the Navis.

Combat Type cards: Cards that can be used to perform the ability of certain CT. Unlike elemental cards, the Navis can use any kind of CT card, the only catch is that cards from other CTs will have less power and potency.

Special: These cards have a wide variety of game-changing abilities, such as (de)buffing, healing, and even arena terrain change.

If an official Navi battle is ongoing, the rules will be as follows:

Each player (from 2-4) will start with three cards and will be able to draw one every three minutes till they reach a maximum of six cards in hand. If they don't like their current hand they can put the cards back into their decks and reshuffle, the only catch is that their Navi will have to fight on its own without any assistance for two minutes, then the Admin can draw up to the number of cards they had in their hand before reshuffling.

Admins can pick between three to four cards to use at once or in a certain sequence. Copies of the same card can be used to deliver a bigger, more powerful version of the card's ability.

The one that depletes the HP of the opposing side wins, however, such matches are mostly setup between Admins and/or Navis in the same rank or combat level since the Navi with the higher level and rank is given more HP.

Finally, we are going to speak about Customization.

As mentioned in the beginning, Navis can be freely customized using a wide pool of options, even before the first look is set, Navis can be customized any number of times until the Admin is fully satisfied with the end result.

However, there are customization options that are locked for the those are confirmed to be younger than seventeen years old of age, pretty sure you can guess what kind of customizations those are.
