What Dwells in the Dark

There were a lot of positives about Carlos' job. It paid well of course, but quite honestly the things that the cacomistle did in his free time were pretty tame compared to the amazing things he got to experience for work. He had the chance to travel around the world, to see places and people that others could only dream of experiencing in their lifetime, and through his TV show he got to bring those people along with him in some small way. But more-so than the chance to fly all over the globe, more-so than the chance to meet new people and learn fascinating things about other countries and cultures, it was the sights of the natural world which Carlos got to explore that made him so very, very grateful for his job.

Nevertheless, he found himself nervous as he glanced over his notes one last time, hearing the camera crew gearing up for the shoot as they stood upon a long dormant volcanic crater below a perfect clear sky. A part of it was just the same jitters he and most broadcasters got before a segment so time critical as this. If they messed up, if he flubbed a line or fell over or something else dumb, they couldn't simply give it a second take. They had backup cameras recording the eclipse itself of course, but everyone knew the footage would be so much more dramatic and meaningful if Carlos could be pictured delivering his point by point summation of the history and mythology surrounding total eclipses as the phenomenon transpired in the sky above him.

There was something else worrying the cacomistle too, though. Or rather... maybe worrying was a bad choice of words. Something else that he had on his mind, related but somehow distinct from the concerns of the broadcast going well. For the last few nights, he'd been dreaming of the last time he'd been whisked across the world by his production company to film a piece around an eclipse. It had all seemed so normal, exactly as he remembered it, more a memory than a dream. All except for one part. A part which had awoken him from that dream each and every night with a cry not of shock, but of pleasure, and the feeling of his own cum spurting over his hotel room's sheets and the fur of his own body.

Every day since he had arrived here for the shoot he had awoken like that, howling, cumming, trembling with the force of an orgasm that seemed somehow to be so much more than just a wet dream. And this morning in particular, even after getting up, showering and jerking off in the shower one more time to try and alleviate whatever sexual tensions were obviously bubbling under the surface of his subconscious, Carlos hadn't been able to shake that feeling. Like there was something he was on the cusp of remembering. Something which would make all those dreams and the distorted memories of which even now he could only summon hazy fragments make complete sense.

"One minute. Mr De Santa, are you ready?"

Pulling himself back to reality, the cacomistle turned to the director and nodded. He handed his note-cards off to a member of the production staff, glanced around to check for anything that seemed out of place, a stray rock he might trip over as he walked and talked, and after nodding to himself reassuringly moved to stand upon his mark in front of the camera. About thirty seconds later another production assistant ran out and handed him a pair of elipse-safe shades, and he cursed under his breath for almost forgetting that rather obvious safety precaution. He thanked them warmly and slipped the shades on, grinning and pulling finger-guns to the crew as he struck a 90s cop show pose. They laughed. He sighed, relaxing and feeling ready at last.

He could do this.

"Ready? Ten seconds. Nine. Eight. Seven. Quiet on set please."

The assistant director continued a silent, finger-based countdown from behind the camera, and Carlos took a deep breath.

"For thousands of years, anthrokind has marvelled at the beauty and the mystery of the eclipse. Science has told us how and why this incredible phenomenon of natural wonder occurs, but myth and legend tell very different stories. Tales of visitors to our world from other places. Tales of magical powers and miracles. All of them connected to or in some way triggered by the occurrence of a total eclipse. In this programme, we'll look at some of the most fascinating historical documents featuring stories of these kinds from millennia of our ancient history, and try to answer the question that has been on our lips since our ancestors first quaked as the sun was stolen away from high above."

All the while as Carlos spoke, his body had been falling into deeper and deeper shadow. And now, as he paused and glanced upwards, the camera panned up following his gaze. Up and up through the darkening sky, until finally it fell upon the sun, disappearing into the total shadow of the moon. Only then, confident and proud of his performance, did Carlos ask that question, and in doing so state the name of the show they were recording.

"What Dwells in the Dark?"

A split-second later, a violent flash of light shattered reality directly in front of where Carlos was standing. He didn't have time to scream. He didn't have time to react, to turn and run as a dark furred, feline-like figure reached out from the writhing, rippling tear in the fabric of the dimension itself. He couldn't cry out or try to fight back as four thick blackish tentacles with sucker-laden tips reached out from the creatures back and wrapped around his arms, beginning to drag him forward into the quivering breach between worlds. All he could do in that moment was gasp, and feel his own eyes widening as in that instant his mind cleared, and the haze of his dream snapped into focus with crystal clarity.

Except... it wasn't a dream.

He knew that now.

The things he'd been seeing, the feelings he'd been waking up with every morning for the last few days as the eclipse drew ever closer, they weren't dreams. They weren't fantasies.

They were memories of the last time he had been present for a total eclipse. And now, years later and half a world away... it was happening again.

*********

Carlos was naked as he emerged through the portal, his clothes not torn away or disintegrated by the inter-dimensional transport he had just undergone, simply absent somehow. He felt his feet land upon solid ground, or at least solid something in this rippling, quivering void of violets and blacks and crimsons and other deep, rich shades that seemed to fill the sky and the ground simultaneously in infinite river-like ribbons. Barely a moment later though he was pulled off balance once more, dragged back by the tentacles still wrapped around his arms and into the embrace of one of the beings that had taken him last time. They were huge, muscular creatures, and while they looked like cats, like buff panthers at a glance, it was obvious upon a brief longer inspection that they were entirely alien. Four glowing blue eyes rested upon their heads, each shaped like a diamond and utterly devoid of a visible pupil. Their nostrils were thin slits upon their dark noses, and their muzzles bore teeth more akin to those of sharks than any earth-bound feline of either anthro or feral stock. Their ears were large and leathery, ridged like the wings of a bat, and that was just the facial differences. Never mind the four fingers upon their strong hands. Never mind the tentacles. Never mind the shape, the sheer size of their cocks.

Carlos groaned as his mind reeled, as he remembered more of what had happened to him here last time. His cheeks flushed, and he realised he was already well on the way to becoming rock hard as without any prompting from the beast before him he sank to his knees. All around he could hear other moans, gasps and growls, and at a brief glance he saw his director being sandwiched between a trio of the snarling creatures close by, the head of prop design writhing and thrashing in pleasure as she was held aloft by the tentacles of two other of the beasts while they plunged yet more of their thick, glistening tendrils deep into her pussy and ass at the same time. Then he felt a hand on his head, firm but not violent or forceful as it returned his gaze to the matter at hand. He saw the huge, thick, ridged black cock of the creature before him twitch and throb, and he opened his mouth hungrily, eagerly to receive it.

Even though this wasn't his first time here, Carlos remembered how unafraid he had been the first time around. How even before the first of the creatures had demanded anything of him he had found himself falling to his knees just like this and reaching out for one of their cocks, begging to be allowed to suckle upon it. He didn't know if it was the creatures themselves or the dimension in which they inhabited, but something about either them or this place demanded, compelled an uncontrollable urge for sex. It was no wonder these creatures were so eager, no wonder each and every one of them bore a huge, thick, constantly throbbing cock. If they were native to this place, if they lived in this dimension all the time, the need for satisfaction must have surely been more than they could satiate with one another alone. Thus, it made total sense to him that they needed outside help.

And now, having experienced this dimension twice and on both occasions during a total eclipse, it seemed obvious to the cacomistle how they went about selecting those who would be blessed with the chance to offer them that help.

"Mnnggh..."

Carlos groaned happily as even while he continued to suckle upon the first of the fuckbeasts, rewarding him for his fine choice of who he had brought through to pleasure him, another of the creatures grasped him from behind and dragged him to his feet. He remained with his mouth wrapped around the first fuckbeast, gurgling and slurping as he deep-throated that vast cock with many inches still untouched by all but his urgently groping hands. Indeed the second fuckbeast seemed eager to allow him to continue, lifting him off the ground entirely but supporting his weight upon his tentacles so that Carlos could keep on sucking even as his legs were pulled wide apart by two strong arms, and another thick, glistening tentacle pressed its way shamelessly into the cacomistle's ass.

"Mnnhhhhhh!"

The cacomistle howled through his muzzleful of cock as for just a few seconds he felt the tentacle pouring slick, hot liquid of some sort into his backside. His eyes rolled back happily, knowing that this was only a preparation for something else soon to follow, and sure enough almost immediately afterwards the tentacle withdrew again. The fuckbeast's cock pressed against Carlos' pucker instead mere seconds later, and as the earth-born anthro felt his own cock drizzling the darkly glowing, rippling ground below with droplets and thick oozing trickles of pre-cum, he gurgled gleefully around the cock still stuffed down his throat as he was filled from the other side by an equally eager, equally large shaft.

For what felt like forever; days, weeks, months, years, whole millennia, it was impossible to say how time worked in this place, the fuckbeasts indulged. Carlos was passed from beast to beast, sometimes alone, sometimes with a whole group of them, sometimes with himself and another anthro from his TV crew. Regardless of how many or who he was with however, his ass was barely ever left empty. The fuckbeasts lived up to the name which was the only thing that Carlos' pleasure stricken mind could think to call them, and they did so supremely.

Carlos had never felt so utterly and completely consumed by lust, cumming countless times as the beasts pounded at his prostate and stretched his tight ass with their huge members. He wailed and begged joyously as they filled his ass with hot ribbons of seed that only seemed to make his body ache more and more strongly for the fucking to continue. On the rare occasions when a fuckbeast came somewhere other than his ass, when he was under such demand that there weren't enough holes to go around, he ran his hands through his own fur in a state of absolute rapture. He found himself gurgling and whimpering and feeling his own cock lash himself and whatever fuckbeast was closest to him with its own cum as he rubbed their seed shamelessly into his flesh and fur, wishing that he could bathe in it, longing for all the other anthros to be cast aside so that he alone could serve as the toy for the entire population. He would have done anything, everything for more. As would every other writhing, screaming, begging anthro present throughout that far too brief eternity of their visit to this other realm.

Then it was over. Not with ceremony. Not with grace. Not with any warning, at least not one that the cacomistle could remember.

Carlos blinked, the world seeming even more dim and hazy for a moment than the eclipse should have made possible, then chuckling as he realised that he was still wearing the eclipse shades. He said nothing, allowing the camera operator to capture the remainder of the eclipse as the totality passed and light began to return to the world around them. His eyes glanced around at the rest of his crew as he looked away from that beautiful, fading sight and slipped off the shades. Many of them were still looking up at the eclipse through their own protective glasses, though a few like him were looking around, briefly seeming a little confused, a little unsure of themselves before reality seemed to dawn and they realised where they were and what they were doing, what they had always been doing.

The camera soon stopped filming, and as the director called cut a ripple of applause broke out from around the crew. Carlos blushed, walking over and shaking the director's hand.

"Brilliant, Carlos. You'll win an award for that opening, for sure."

The cacomistle chuckled, shrugging modestly.

"It's not just about the presentation. We've still got to make sure there's plenty of great material to accompany it, right?"

The director nodded, but put a hand on Carlos' shoulder reassuringly as he did so.

"Yeah, but I still think it's a pretty sure thing. I've seen the work you've been putting in, making sure that you're up to date with all the research our team's been doing. Getting involved even when you're not on camera. You're really passionate about these eclipse myths, huh?"

The cacomistle thought about it for a moment, smiling to himself even though he wasn't quite sure why.

"Yeah."

The more he considered it though, the more certain he became even though any real reasoning for why utterly escaped him.

"Yeah... I guess I am. In fact... I'm actually considering finding out when the next land-based total eclipse is scheduled to take place and going to see it myself. No cameras. No crew. No show to do. I just... I want to learn more."

The director raised a curious eyebrow.

"Oh? What, like a journalistic piece? Getting up close and personal, listening to myths from actual locals wherever you go?"

Carlos nodded, but absent-mindedly. He murmured softly, only partially in agreement.

"Mmm. I guess I could, yeah. But... honestly? I actually just want to see the eclipse itself. To be there. To experience it first-hand, a-alone. And... y'know, like the show says."

He laughed playfully, though the cacomistle didn't know why he could feel a knot of arousal tightening in his guts as he did so.

"I'd like to see for myself what dwells in the dark."
