The Eyes

Somewhere thunder roars,
In my mind-
Or in the sky...I don't care.
The drips that fall
Upon my face can never
Wash it all away.
My hands seem old,
Lifeless,
Decrepit,
Like old gnarled trees
Covered with blood.
But the eyes-
The eyes that hold no light-
Only cold hatred-
They watch me.
They will watch forever now.
For they can no longer see.
I blink and look away.
They are with me-
In my mind.
It should be me on the ground.
A sudden gust-
A sudden fear,
Bile caught in my throat,
The taste of his blood.
NOOO!!!
For I will know that taste,
And I will see those eyes,
And I will hear that cry,
For the rest of my life!
A soft voice,
My teacher,
"He deserved it. Let's go."
I turn away,
The eyes are laughing now.
