#3 of Blood Moon

Almost a full month had passed since Damien and Fang took Sarah into their home, turning the sorceress into a mix with their bites. They had taken the next few days and taught hir all they could about how to control hir new urges, and most importantly hir new strengths. The trio had also learned that their bites had increased hir power, most effectively when shi was changed. The trio had also been very thankful for the rune on Sarah's stomach, which until she removed it she would bare no young. Fang finally started to get used to waking up to Sarah healing their bodies, both women finding comfort in the lack of soreness. Sarah had taken to helping Damien with his work on the additions, especially after he had bought hir new clothing that was loose enough to handle hir change. Sarah after two weeks finally traveled with Damien into town for supplies, returning with two pack mules and a cart to haul supplies and timber for the addition.

Sarah stepped out of the hot spring after finally getting the sweat and seed from hir body, quickly moving to dry hirself carefully so shi wouldn't tug on the studs in hir nipples. Shi moved to get dressed quickly, putting hir breast wrap on first before shi chuckled at hir sheathe. "One good thing...I don't have to worry about that thing dangling down anymore..." Shi quickly put on a vest and buttoned it up, before slipping on some loose pants and boots. Shi moved up into the main area of the cave, grabbing hir cloak and staff before shi checked on Fang. Sarah smiled down at Fang as she slept peacefully in the trio's large bed, before shi moved to the cave entrance having healed both of their bodies when shi woke. She walked through the addition that was now almost complete, admiring their work as shi went. Shi stopped as shi watched Damien finish hooking their mules to the cart, deciding to leap the last eighteen feet to him. "So we ready to go?" Shi asked with a grin, moaning some as he picked hir up into his arms and kissed hir passionately. Shi resisted hir urges and broke the kiss after a minute, not wanting to be late....again. "Bad doggie! We have to go and pick up the windows today. That and Fang's still sleeping." Shi got one more kiss, before he set hir down on the cart.

Damien chuckled lightly to himself, having been testing hir control again before they went into town. "Your getting better Sarah...just remember I will test you every now and then. I don't want you having any mess ups like I have..." He got the mules to start towards town, hearing hir jump down from the cart to walk beside him. "Oh yeah...remember when the moon comes this time. Don't eat the mules..." He trailed off as they both started to laugh.

"Yeah yeah...I don't like mule meat anyway. Besides as long as they're around I don't have to worry about having to lug stuff back home." Shi noticed that he was wearing much the same clothes shi was, only he had two heavy machete's hanging from his hips. Shi had never gotten the nerve to ask him if he had ever truly used those blades, part of hirself not wanting to know the answer.

Two hours later and a quarter of a mile from town, Damien and Sarah stopped dead in their tracks at the sight and smell that greeted them. The sight and smell of smoke greeted them first, before the faint smell of blood hit them. They looked at one another and cursed, before tying the mules to a sturdy tree. Sarah felt hir fangs grow some as she watched Damien pull a large bow and quiver out from inside the cart, watching as he slipped them over his shoulder. Damien looked over at Sarah and sighed. "It's been five years since this town had any problems...looks like they relaxed too much this time. Follow me closely and keep silent...we gotta get close if we're going to be of any help..."

Sarah nodded and pulled a flask from hir vest pocket, taking a large swig of blood to calm hir urges. Shi moved quickly behind him and stayed as silent as possible as they moved closer to the town, feeling the runes across hir body warm some as they glowed lightly under hir clothing and cloak. It wasn't long before they stopped just within sight of the town, but still within the cover of the forest. "So how did they fight off the raiders last time...the town is a bloody mess?" Shi asked quietly as shi watched Damien slip the bow and one arrow from his shoulder.

He sighed for a moment and knocked the arrow on his longbow, turning his head to look at her. "Last time they attacked here was night...I managed to take out a third of them men before anyone saw fur. None of the towns people really got a good look at me when I was changed...so when I changed back no one was the wiser and the raiders had run off. No one wants to risk being bitten by a werewolf...at least no superstitious dolt of a raider wants to be bitten." He noticed the glow of hir runes and smiled weakly. "It's daylight so no changing...but I trust you can use your skills well enough without that..." He got a low growl and a nod for an answer, before he pulled a handful of heavy nails from his satchel that hung on his hip. "We want to pick off as many as we can before they notice us...use these. I've seen you drive them into solid locust without your runes glowing...just try not to make too much of a mess..." He trailed off as he poured the nails into hir hands, watching an almost evil grin cross hir face.

"Well puppy you be good and careful too...don't make me have to try to explain you getting hurt to Fang. That is not a death I particularly would care for..." Shi trailed off as he nodded, turning and moving silently through the bush to get a different angle for hirself. Hir now very keen ears picked up the sound of Damien's overly strong bow creaking back as he drew his aim, giving hir just enough time to watch the first arrow fly. After a moment shi noticed the first three that he dropped were holding bows or crossbows, giving hir an idea. Shi moved silently through the bush a little further from Damien and noticed four men standing not but thirty feet from hir. Shi pulled four nails from her hip pouch and held them out, concentrating as hir runes glowed ever to softly. A half second later the nails shot from hir open palm like bullets, making sickening sounds as they punched through the skulls of the raiders to stick out the other sides of their heads. Shi watched as the men slumped to the ground dead, hearing the sound of Damien's bow loosing another deadly arrow. After taking aim with hir mind once more one a pair of foolish raiders, two nails shot through the air to drop them like cattle. Shi took out her flask and took another sip of blood, before shi moved a few feet closer. Shi cursed as she saw one of Damien's arrows miss it's mark, skinning a raider's arm before thudding into a wall. "Ah bloody hells!" Shi launched a nail through the man's skull, finding hirself too late as he had already screamed in pain and surprise.

Damien listened to the scream and then the shouts from within the town, getting himself half behind an oak as he prepared to take aim again. "At least we got what should have been most of the ranged ones..." He trailed off as he saw ten men run out from the town, only to watch as they dropped like stones in a pond. "Sarah...." He sighed as he watched blood splatter from the first lines heads as the nails shot through and into the next set. He took aim and loosed an arrow at full draw, watching it fly through the air to hurtle a man from one of the roof tops. War had never been a good mistress to him, but now he planned on using her to his advantage. He moved at a dead run to the side of an overturned wagon, knocking another arrow as he heard more nails whistle through the air. He watched as swords slowly slid from a few of the dead men and into the bushes where Sarah had to be hiding, ducking as he heard an arrow thud into the wagon. He heard the whistle of a nail and then a man's shrill scream as the offending archer took a nail to the chest, giving Damien a chance to raise up and pick off a man who had noticed Sarah's hiding place. He gave a fast glance before he dropped his bow and now empty quiver, running to put his back against the wall of the town. "Well I guess it's time for the bloody part to start..." He trailed off as he pulled his heavy machetes from their sheathes, gripping them tightly as he heard a low growl come from the bushes. "Aw hells...that isn't good..."

Sarah had moved more to the side, giving hir a good view into the town as shi kept to the thick bush. Shi growled as shi saw a few of the towns peoples corpses laying in the street, hir runes starting to glow brightly as shi saw that two of them were young boys. Anger raged through hir as the runes along hir flesh glowed and pulsed under hir cloak, while shi moved towards the edge of the bush. Shi launched another set of deadly nails, before slowly standing. "Murdering sons of..." Shi trailed off as shi heard the sound of glass breaking, turning hir head to see Damien disappear inside a building. The blades shi had pulled to hirself rose up from the ground to spin like fans, moving ahead of hir as shi slowly moved towards the town's side gate. Hir hand pointed towards a bastard sword a moment before it floated through the air, coming into hir grasp as her anger grew more potent. Shi had never before had witness to the atrocities that raiders or war could bring, filling her with a cold fire that cause hir to draw more power into hirself. Movement caught hir eye in time for hir to block an incoming arrow with one of hir spinning blades. A heavy nail flew from the stack in hir open palm to hammer the archer in the chest and throw the screaming man back into the house he had been hiding in. Shi moved to the side as two men ran at hir with swords and shields, launching two of hir blades at them and pinning their gurgling corpses to the wall they had been hiding behind. A moment later the men's blades joined the spinning group that moved around hir.

Damien spat as he pulled his blades from a dieing man's stomach and chest, moving towards the door as he saw Sarah's frightening display moving into the town. He bolted out into the streets and bashed his way into a building he had watched four men disappear into, parrying blades as they tried to run him through. Blood splattered the walls as he gutted one man and ducked another blade, before thrusting his sword up and into the man's skull. He growled as he spin kicked one man off his feet, knocking the sword from his hand as he rammed one of his machete's through the others chest. He pointed one of his gore covered blades at the man's throat and growled low, fighting to keep his form human. "Tell me where is your leader hiding...or I will cut you so you bleed to death slowly." He heard the man whimper as he dug his heel into the man's stomach. "He's...in...the market..." The man trailed off as Damien pulled his machete away, only to be knocked cold as Damien kicked him in the side of the head. He looked over to see a woman holding her children and the father looking at him with mixed emotion, kicking a blade towards the man as Damien moved to leave. "Protect them...and tie that one up. His blade was clean and he is too young to kill..." Damien moved to the door of the house and watched as two more men suffered horrible fates as Sarah's blades downed them without mercy. "Gods I hope she doesn't see anymore innocents dead, or this is going to turn very horrible...."

Meanwhile five miles from town at the cave, Fang was just starting to rouse with morning sickness in full bloom. She bolted for the cave entrance out of raw instinct as her stomach tried it's best to expel her last meal. Her eyes were close as she bolted out into the sunlight not knowing it had even risen, falling to her knees just before the content of her stomach erupted from her mouth. She didn't take notice of the sun's warmth caressing her pale flesh until she finally opened her eyes, nearly screaming as she looked up at the sun. Staying frozen still as she finally noticed she wasn't being burned to death, then slowly standing to feel the light warming touch flow across her bare body. "What the bloody hells..." She had never thought that the child in her womb or her lover's many love bites would protect her from the one thing she had to fear most. She felt something warm dribble down her thigh and sighed, moving her hand down to her folds only to pull it back covered in seed from the night before. She licked her hand clean before squinting her eyes and looking around, her hand lazily running over her lightly swelled stomach. She winced as she ran her hands up to her breasts, feeling the studs in her enlarged nipples. She grumbled lightly as she moved further from the cave, looking over the addition in the morning sunlight. Her smile faded as her gaze turned towards town, smelling at the air as the wind shifted. "Oh heavens no..." She said as she bolted into the cave to get her clothes, moaning lewdly as she stuffed a small cloth into her folds to stop the flow of seed. She quickly threw on a vest and pants, before slipping on her boots. She touched her stomach and reminded herself of her child, changing her mind and snatching up a bow and full quiver before she bolted from the door. "Gods above let them be safe..." She muttered as she ran into the forest towards town, her speed making the scenery almost blur as she ran.

After a short while Damien and Sarah had managed to either kill or scare away the raiders that weren't now holed up inside the Market. He had managed to calm hir, knowing that a decent amount of innocents were trapped inside with the raiders. A few of the townspeople had come out of hiding, now carrying the weapons that the slain raiders had used on their friends and neighbors. The pair paid little attention to them as they moved around the market, swords still floating around Sarah as shi walked. They moved in unison as Damien picked up a heavy table and curled it next to his body, Sarah moving behind him as they moved towards the market gate. Light hand motions made the townspeople move to either side of the door, while the pair moved up to it. "Sarah...get the door please..." Damien said as he held up the heavy table, bracing himself for what would come.

Sarah concentrated for a moment before the heavy doors of the market swung up with a loud crack, hearing the arrows and crossbow bolts thud into the heavy table. Shi made the blades around hir start to spin as shi moved behind Damien, inching their way into the market. Shi flung the nails she had left up into the air, holding them above the table with hir mind as she tried to quickly spot targets. Shi almost jumped as four arrows shot past them one after the other into the market, hearing gurgled cries a moment later as men fell. A second later more arrows shot past them into the market, making hir look back to see Fang leap to another rooftop. "The little lady is in the sunlight?" Shi said amazed as she heard a feral growl from within the market. Shi turned to watch the hair on the back of Damien's neck rise at the growl, hearing a few arrows clang against heavy armor.

Damien heard the heavy footsteps of a heavily armored raider, motioning Sarah to get behind something before he chucked the table to the side. At the other end of the market stood a man wearing armor too heavy for any normal human. He drew his thick machetes as he watched the hulking raider pull out a heavy longsword. "You shouldn't have come here warmonger..." He growled as he slowly stepped forward, watching arrows fly past him. He smiled as the arrows flew into one of the stalls, killing them men who were keeping some of the merchants penned up.

"Little Mutt....why do you protect these rats?" The man said as he moved away from the stall, growling low in his throat as he saw the bow handy woman on the roof. "We are stronger than them...we are not the ones who should have to hide and stick to the wilderness to survive." The hulking man stood like a tower as he watched Damien.

Damien spat as he spun his blades in his hands, forcing himself yet again to not change forms. "Listen Warmonger....I have come to care about these people. They have been good to me and I protect them. Who do you think killed most of the last group that attacked this town!" He growled as he watched the man, sticking his machetes into the soft dirt as he moved to pick up a heavy pair of large hammers. "Today has turned into a day for killing...and you Warmonger are going to be the mutt who dies..." He moved towards the man more, holding a twenty pound hammer in either hand.

Sarah stood motionless as shi watched Damien move towards the man, before waving a hand to a few of the townspeople who had come to stand near hir. "The big one will kill you all...don't be foolish...." Shi said as the men nodded oddly towards hir, before turning their gazes to watch Damien and the warmonger. The blades around hir slowly stopped spinning and stuck themselves in the ground, while shi kept her hand tightly gripping the sword shi held.

The onlookers watched as the two men started to circle one another, one in heavy armor while the other was open. Damien held the two metal handled smith's hammers tightly in his hands waiting for the warmonger to make the first move. Suddenly the hulking man darted forward and reached out with his deadly blade, aiming to hit one of Damien's arms. A half a second later there was the clang of metal striking metal, as Damien spun away and slammed one hammer into the man's back armor. The man stumbled and growled, before lunging again to strike at Damien's legs. Damien slammed the blade into the ground with one hammer and spun away, slamming the other hammer into the man's armored shoulder. A roar of pain rang out from the warmonger as he clutched the dented armor on his arm, turning just in time to see Damien's hammer flash towards his armor covered face. The heavy helmet flew into the air as the warmonger tumbled to the ground without his helm, roaring out in pain as he spat blood from his maw. As his wolfin head was bared to full view mixed reactions rang out from amongst the onlookers, ranging from startled screams to a quick intake of breath. The warmonger growled at the crowd as he stood, getting raised bows and shields for an answer. Damien circled him as the warmonger looked around, suddenly aware that the townspeople didn't seem afraid of him.

"Whats wrong warmonger? You think these people would be afraid of you....they have heard my howls during the full moon for years!" Damien growled at the man as he readied his hammers, his body beginning to bulk up as he started to loose the fight to his changing. "I have kept the wolves away from their herds and in the woods...kept myself from their town when I wasn't safe to be around." Damien watched as the werewolf warmonger turned and growled at him, preparing himself for another attack. "I protect these people..." He trailed off as fur exploded from his flesh and spread across his body, bones cracking and re-knitting themselves rapidly. Damien tumbled back to dodge a dead swing aimed for his head, rolling back onto his haunches as his wolfin head finished changing. Surprisingly to Damien astonishment the growing crowd didn't seem fazed by his change, only watching with a look of worry as he fought the warmonger.

The two werewolves started to circle one another again, while the onlookers watched them with hushed whispers. The warmonger lunged forward to strike straight for Damien's stomach, tucking himself into the blade as he moved. Damien sidestepped and slammed a hammer into the warmongers sword, while he brought the other hammer down on his shoulder. Both of them screamed in pain as the tumbled away from one another. Damien dropped a hammer and clutched at the gash in his side, while the warmonger howled in pain as Damien's hammer had all but crushed the armor into his shoulder. Both of the wolfin men growled with pain as they rounded to face one another again. The warmonger was suddenly knocked from his feet though as one of Damien's heavy hammers flew through the air and hit him square in the center of his breastplate. The Warmonger landed hard on his back as his grip failed on his sword, choking some as he watched Damien stand over him holding his other hammer. "You have killed innocents today..." Damien swung the hammer down to crush in the elbow joint of the warmonger's armor, ears folded back as the other werewolf howled in pain. "Ones like you are the reason we are hunted and butchered...the reason my entire pack was slaughtered...." Damien swung the hammer against the Warmonger's other elbow, another cry of pain followed the sickening crunch of bone and crushing metal.

"ENOUGH!" Screamed Fang as she moved up beside Damien, aiming her bow at the pleading wolfin face of the Warmonger. "Rest in peace Warmonger...." Was all she said before she released her grip on the bowstring, watching as the arrow hammered through his skull to still him with death. She watched as Damien looked at her shocked for a moment, before his blood loss made him loose his ability to stand. She caught her mate before he fully fell, watching as Sarah moved to help her. "Think you can patch him up?" She asked in a worried tone as his body fully went limp in their grasp, only to find a few of the townspeople quickly moving to help.

The group finally got him over to a still upright wagon, laying him down as carefully as they could. Sarah and Fang leaped up on either side of Damien, tearing his vest open to check his now gaping wound. "We need the strongest alcohol you can get..." Sarah said as shi concentrated on hir hand, before using hir claws to shave the fur from around Damien's wound. Shi heard a few gasps as hir hand returned to normal, before slipping it into the wound. Hir runes started to glow as shi used hir limited healing as best shi could, stopping his internal bleeding so that he would not bleed to death. A moment later the glow faded from hir wounds as shi slumped back against the side of the wagon, having over used her sorcery far too much already. "I can't heal him anymore...I stopped the major bleeding so he won't die though..." shi said as she panted some, while beads of sweat formed to slick her flesh. Shi looked up and noticed that Fang's skin had a light pink coloration to it now, pointing to her arm for a moment. "Fang...your getting sunburn...you need to get inside before you start to blister..."

Fang looked at her flesh and jumped some, never having had to deal with the other effects of the sun. She turned her attention back to Damien for a moment not caring about something like sunburn, only to see Sarah holding out hir cloak for her to take. "Thanks Sarah..." She trailed off and quickly slipped on the too large cloak, noticing a man had returned with the alcohol. She quickly got it from him, and then poured a large amount of the moonshine onto Damien's wound. She heard him whimper in his unconscious state, quickly moving to grab the needle and thread from her hip pouch. "Boy this is going to take some work..." She said as she threaded the needle and started to stitch Damien's flesh back together. "Take some time to rest Sarah...then help them with the bodies..." She said as she looked over at hir, hoping the hybrid sorceress took her hint to also gather some blood.

By early afternoon Sarah had learned that only eleven of the townspeople had died in the raid, most having either hidden or played dead. The very few raiders that were taken prisoner though were now digging graves and trenches for the dead. Shi hirself had moved the Warmonger's corpse onto a wagon after stripping most of the armor off of him, having found him far too heavy for hir to lift with it on. As shi guided the wagon to the trench where the raiders were being buried, shi noticed some of the townspeople had started to gather the weapons into organized piles. Shi quickly tossed the Warmonger's armor and his sword into the appropriate piles, before moving to lay his body in the trench with the rest of his fallen men. "May the gods have mercy on their souls..." Shi took a sip from her recently filled flask, before returning to the work of taking the dead from the town.

Not that far away from Sarah, Fang sat in a room at the town's inn watching over Damien. She had found it odd how the townspeople had been so nice to them, guessing it was mostly because they had saved their skins. She had shed Sarah's cloak a short while ago while Damien's unconscious body had returned to his human form. She had also stripped and cleaned Damien's human form, thankful he had reverted back so she wouldn't have to get the blood from his fur. "Please wake soon my love..." She said almost to herself as she checked the stitched wound on Damien's side once more, finding it had healed a decent amount. She had just started to check over her sunburnt skin finding it lightly tanned, before jumping as Sarah barged into the room. "Knock first will ya?" She said in a started tone, before noticing Sarah was carrying hir staff and two dead rabbits.

Sarah chuckled before tossing the two clubbed rabbits to an eager Fang, watching as she sank her fangs into one. "Hungry I take it?" Shi said as shi leaned hir staff against the wall, moving to poor some clean water into a basin. Shi took one of the two remaining clean cloths and started to wipe the blood and grime from hir hands and arms. "The prisoners are burying the dead right now...so I figured I wasn't needed anymore." Shi turned hir head to see Fang draining the second rabbit, before looking at Damien. "Has he showed any signs of waking up yet?" Shi sighed as Fang shook her head, going back to cleaning hirself. "I brought the cart into town...we should probably get him back to the cave before dark. I'm sure sure how either me or him will react so close to a full moon, and these people have been through enough today." Shi looked over and saw Fang's nod of agreement, before the Vampire dropped the second drained rabbit with the first one.

By late afternoon Fang and Sarah had checked with the town's mayor, before settling out towards home with Damien sleeping on the cart. Since they had donned the cover of the tree's, Fang returned Sarah's cloak and had marveled at her light tan. "Well I guess next time it will be the three of us heading into town...as long as I can barrow your cloak."

"I don't have a problem with it...besides I think Damien passed out from seeing you in the sun, and not blood loss." Shi and Fang both chuckled lightly at the thought. "But, I think we both should take a good long bath after we get him into bed." Shi watched Fang nod, before taking a quick look back at Damien's unconscious form. Shi knew the days events had worn heavily on all of them, especially Fang since Damien had been injured. Shi didn't say much else to Fang, wanting to get home just as much as she did.
