Against a Tree (Otherwise Untitled)
#135 of Short Stories
A bluejay hides against a tree.
~ The blue jay huddled in against the base of the tree, surrounded otherwise by bushes, rain torrenting, and the stuttering rumble of thunder.
~ "It's okay.", the chill working its way into his underfluff.
~ "I'm safe.", a bolt of lighting striking the ground some hundreds of yards away.
~ "They don't know where I am.", the blue jay alone.
