A possum tends to a task.

~ With the sun bearing down upon the possum and his yard, the marsupial regarded the work that laid before him. Mightily, a hole torn into the soil, and stacks of sundries laid out nearby.

~ Huffing softly with the moment, he could see dirt and bricks and bags of planting soil. Nothing yet growing or grown.

~ Grasping firmly to the shovel with aching hands, he could remember with the vivid clarity of vasoline glass the herbs and vegetables his mother had grown when he was young so far and long away.
