Chapter 4 of my Uncertain series. FarFar gets a bit of a surprise in this chapter! :)

For whatever reasons, the uploaded version of this story does not contain the fonts, spacing, changes in text that I originally put in. May be a bit hard to read as a result. Not sure what the problems were with the uploading. Same thing happened with chapter 3.

I'm sure there are some editing mistakes in this chapter...I'm not that great with proof reading. :-(

FarFar is my character. The others are figments of my over zealous imagination! Comments and compliments are welcomed!

Early evening on Friday. I finished up the last of the preparations for snack night and took a deep breath. Everything seemed to be all set. The pizzas were made; all I needed to do was to place them in the oven. The snacks were set out, and the array of beverages were ready to drink. This ritual has morphed into fun way to get together with friends. We eat, drink, watch movies, compete in all sorts of games, listen to music, and overall just have a good time.

Looking again at the table, I realize that I forgot to get the salsa for the corn chips. Thankfully, there is a grocery store a short drive from my house. Checking the time on my phone, I decide to drive out and pick some up. Soon after I leave the driveway, my phone beeps at me. Opening the message, a live stream video displayed. It was of Allie, my Siberian husky friend, tugging at the front door and telling me in no uncertain terms that she can't get inside.

"Hold on," I told her. "The door is locked."

"Well, duuh!" She said to me and added an "arooooooww" for emphasis.

She can be so rude...and impatient. I fiddled around on my phone until I found the app which would enable me to remotely unlock the door. A green "all set" message displayed, confirming that the house was unlocked.

"Ok. You can go in. I will be there in a few minutes." A chorus of barks, woo's and applause sounded over my phone. "Just don't eat everything before I get there!" All I heard was sadistic laughter. Picking up my pace while shutting off the video, I was walking to the checkout scanner when I got another text. Opening it up, there was a picture of the Malinois, Ajax with a bottle of soda in his muzzle and a bag of pretzels in one of his paws. In his other paw, he held a small sign with the words "TOO LATE!" written on it.

What an ass! I laughed to myself. With friends like him, who needs enemies?

Moments later I walked into the house. Anticipating the mobbing that was going to occur, I quickly found an open space and braced myself for the onslaught. Suddenly, the sound of an explosion came from the living room area, causing me to about jump out of my fur. Once I gathered my splattered wits, I cautiously walked forward. The sight before me sent waves of relief through my veins. There was no real explosion, only Allie and Ajax sitting at the gaming table playing some war game. Looking at the screen, it was clear that a tank battle was going on...and that Ajax was winning. Remembering the text that he sent me, I walked over and wacked him on the foreleg at the most critical moment. His tank rolled over and self-destructed, causing a growl of anger from his throat, and a yelp of joy from Allie's. As he stood up and looked me in the eye, I could sense that he was not happy with what I did. But, it was quickly replaced with a smile and a big hug.

"About time you got here, FarFar! We were going to eat all of your food without you!" he said with a wagging tail.

My tail wagging, I said to him "Well, it looks like you already had a good start!" We laughed and hugged each other once more and then I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Sure. Go ahead and ignore me!" It was Allie looking up at me with her mischievous brown eyes.

"I'm not ignoring you. I just did not want to interrupt your game. After all, you were winning, thanks to my assistance!"

"Dream on, you dog! I was winning without your help!" We both laughed over that one as we embraced in a friendship hug.

"Good to see you again," I said. "Where is Dante?"

"He wanted to stay home. Something about not feeling well."

"I think he just does not like your pizzas," said Ajax as he walked back to the gaming table, a bag of potato chips in one paw and a bowl of sour cream dip in the other. "Speaking of which, when do we get to eat them? I'm hungry!"

"What's the hurry? You haven't won the game yet! Allie is kicking your furry butt!"

After getting a satisfying low growl from Ajax, my eyes were drawn to the two wolves sitting on the couch, one solid white and one almost all brown, except for the streak of white running along his back.

Must be the friends that Ajax said he was bringing over.

The white one got up off the couch and walked over to me. "Hey bro. I'm Frick. My cousin over there is Moca. Thanks for letting us hang out at your place."

"No problem. You know Ajax?" I said to him.

"We belong to the same classic car club. We hang out and work on our cars together."

"That's cool. Glad you came over. Grab some snacks whenever you want."

Making a retreat towards the kitchen, I placed the pizza's in the oven. Once that was done, I grabbed a lemon-lime soda and was walking back into the living room when I heard the door to my office shut. Startled, I turned into that direction to see who was coming out of the room. Figuring it was Allie looking for another game to play, I was surprised to see the sleek black coat. Allie's coat is white and silver.

What? Who?

As the figure walked forward towards me, I saw the long tail, wide head, and upright ears. Classic German shepherd. And the amber eyes. Once he spoke, I recognized who he was.

"Hey FarFar." Marko said to me. His tail was thumping against the door. "Are you surprised?" His muzzle parted to reveal that wonderful smile that I love so much.
