"This meeting is called to order to review the incidents which lead up to and followed the termination of the Special Assignments Team. There are some questions this committee has for you general. To begin, what was the purpose of the Special Assignments Team?
"Their purpose was to be a small squad of elite soldiers who would work together to complete covert and difficult missions beyond what was capable of regular special forces. They were to be recruited together, trained together, and deployed together."
"Where did you take the members of this team from?"
"They were a squad at the Academy. We extracted them using the usual method."
"How did they perform after training?"
"They greatly surpassed our expectations. They could move and communicate flawlessly and almost could sense each other's thoughts and actions. Their first mission in the field was to infiltrate a heavily guarded location and extract hostages with limited casualties. They didn't kill anyone, even when a gun was put to the leader's head. There are more performance records in the attachments I submitted to you last month"
"Yes, we have them here. Who was this leader you speak of?"
"Chief Warrant Officer Kirian Harper. He had been a natural leader and the others followed him without question from day one."
"Tell me about NDC Document H74A9."
"You should know more about that than I do. It was your department which signed it."
"Indeed. Just for the record, what is your understanding of this document?"
"Of course. That document authorized Dr. Hall to use contraband biological alteration chemicals to boost the members of the Task Force."
"Who is Dr. Hall?"
"She was the mastermind and chief developer of the Special Assignments Team."
"What happened which caused the termination of the Special Assignments Team?"
"Remember when I said the purpose of the team was to work together? Well, when the team went fully active, General Strikers got his hands on them. He believed they would be more effective it they could be deployed apart from one another. They seemed to disagree. Harper decided the orders they had been given were pointless, didn't like being used for something he hadn't agreed to, and decided to take matters into his own hands. This lead to the assassination of the New World Order Leader and later dissolution of the New World Order. General Strikers didn't like being ignored and ordered the immediate termination of the Special Assignments Team by the means agreed upon in order to clear NDC Document H74A9."
"Which were?"
"To activate the memory isolator and erase the training and memories of the members of the Task Force."
"Were these orders followed."
"Yes. Strikers threatened killing all involved personnel if they weren't."
"Did the chemical work as specified."
"Yes. The five operatives' memories were wiped and they were split up and placed into new lives where they could function and be successful. Details are in attachment two."
"Were there any complications?"
"Yes, two. One, Dr. Hall had secretly injected herself as well. When I delivered the visual signals, she was hit as well. She now works at a ski resort ER. The second problem was with Harper. When the chemical was activated, something went wrong. He is now paralyzed from the waist down. He will never walk again."
"Has that been dealt with?"
"We've done everything we can but there is no reverse for the chemical process other than drinking yourself into a coma which, needless to say, would pose even more health risks."
"Understood. What happened to the rest of the personnel at Center Seventeen?"
"All the military personnel are under codeword secrecy and have been returned to their respective branches. There were also three civilians. Dr. Hall who's memory on the matter was erased. Dr. Easterling of Easterling Arms who is already sworn to secrecy due to his countless government contracts. The other was a hacker called Hogan Quakenbush. Dr. Easterling took him in as a partner. He is now under the same clearance as Easterling Arms. None of them should be a problem.
"And what about you General, will you be a problem."
"Sir, I've run black ops my entire career. I know how these come and go. Some have problems, some don't. I was quite interested in the success of the Special Assignments Team and have submitted a full review of the actions of General Strikers which lead to its downfall. Beyond that, I have no problems with what is going on. You won't need to worry about me."
"Thank you for your time General. You are dismissed. Please ask General Strikers to come in when you leave."
