Rising Anew -chapter 8-

The sunlight filtered through the roots hanging at the entrance to the cave. Slowly flicking its tail, a tiny green lizard scurried onto a rock as the sun alighted on it. A small smile seemed to sneak onto the little reptile's features as he sank down onto his belly and enjoyed the warmth. He had just closed his eyes when the shadows began to stir silently and two brilliant violet eyes slowly opened and a quiet yawn made its way to the tiny lizard. The little creature shot off of the rock and out the entrance to the little underground river.

Narina smiled as she watched the lizard scurry away. Shuddering off the nights chill, she turned and softly shook Narcenac.

"Wake up dear." she said with a soft tone. "Tarsus, time to get up!" Standing and stretching, Narina made her way to the edge of the water and stooped to drink. As she sipped the icy fluid, she glanced about at the little fishes flitting from rock to rock or under the cover of a submerged root. It seemed to her that everything was as it should be. Everything just seemed right and happy. It was going to be a good day.

With a little grumbling and reluctance to leave the lovely cave, the little group began its journey for the day.

Both Narcenac and Narina were in high spirits after their night of trivolity in the water. Tarsus on the other hand was not in the best mood and looked quite miserable. Every now and then she would sneeze a tiny squeeky sneeze. Rubbing her nose and holding her shirt closer, she remained silent.

Finally after Tarsus had sneezed for the sixth time, Narcenac turned to her with a look of concern on his face.

"What's wrong Tarsus, you dont look quite so good. Are you feeling ok?" he asked as he looked her over. He held a paw to her forehead and was suprised at how cold she was.

"I ibs justa a widdle uffy ibs all." Tarsus replied, looking back at him through bloodshot eyes. Slowly she trudged on. Narcenac shook his head and pulled out his old sweater.

"Here you goofy squirrel, put this on. It will help you warm up a bit and get over that cold faster." he said with amusement.

With a grumble, the little squirrel slipped the sweater over her head and let it drop. The bottom fell all the way down to her knees and the two tigers couldnt hold back their laughter. Even Tarsus giggled a bit and turned slowly to see herself. Standing there with the back of the sweater tucked up around her tail and the front bouncing on her knees, she was a picture of cute.

The moon was high in the night sky as the shadows made by its beems seemed to gently dance in the night time breeze. The leaves on the trees near the base of the mountains slowly made the branches sway. The smell of electricity was thick in the air.

"I think it might rain tonight." Narcenac said as he slowly sniffed at the air. "Look at those clouds over there. You can see little flashes of lightning in them now and then."

Narina and Tarsus both followed his paw and looked at the dark mass that seemed to pop and crackle now and then. Wrapping her arm around Narcenac's waist, Narina walked along side of him happily.

"It smells so nice. I guess we should find someplace to stay dry for the night." She said with a smile.

On they walked as the clouds slowly made their way over head and the thunder grew audible. Little sprinkles began to fall when Narcenac noticed a glint a little farther ahead of them. It was like a reflection, he thought as he pointed it out and they all started towards it.

Heavy drops pelted the metal roof of the small shack as the trio neared it cautiously and peared into the windows. It was a bit in shambles but there were three rooms in it.

Pushing the door ajar a bit, Narcenac inspected the dark rooms to make sure nothing was sneaking about. He found a medium sized cast iron stove and an old pile of wood sitting beside it in the large room. In the two smaller rooms he notice two small boxes with pipes leading out the windows covered in char marks. He sighed happily when he noticed the beds.

"BEDS!!! Oh sweet heaven!!!" he shouted out to the girls as he flopped on the creaky spring mattress.

Tarsus flew into the other room like a flash and shut the door, shouting, "MY WOOM!!!"

Narina walked into the bedroom with Narcenac, chuckling and shaking her head at the silly squirrels antics.

"You know," Narina whispered to Narcenac as she tugged her wet shirt off, "We are alone in here, and i feel a little wet." She giggled with a smirk at her double meaning joke. Slowly she sat on the bed and lay down against him and purred.

Narcenac knew exactly what she was thinking and quickly shut the door as silently as he could. Sneaking back to the bed, he leaned down and kissed her slowly. Lightning struck off in the distance and illuminated the room as their passion filled each others hearts. Gently he unbuttoned her pants for her and slowly tugged them back, her paws doing similar with his own.

Her pants slipped past her ankles and slowly her legs fell around him. Even in the dark, Narcenac could see the fingers motioning him to her. With a smile he obeyed.

The thunder rolled on through the night. The squeeky snoring of a stuffy squirrel and the passionate cries of two lovers, were barely audible as the storm showed its might.
