Troy visits the old river from his childhood and comes across an old friend, Dewey the Dewott. There, he reconnects with him, and the river looks to intervene in his favor.

It had been ages since Troy had last visited that river. Mystical River, they called it, though he never knew why. He was younger then, full of energy and hope for the future. That last day, though, that was the day it all changed. He could remember it vividly, everything that happened. It had a profound impact on the boy's life, one that would last him the rest of his life, in a way. That was the day he had lost his only friend, and even though he was probably overreacting, that did not make his feelings any less untrue.

At the time, he had one Pokémon, a Dewott. That Dewott, who he called Dewey, was as old as he was, he even remembered when it was still only an Oshawott. The two of them were inseparable, probably helped by the fact that Troy didn't have many friends at school. Unfortunately, Troy had to move away to a larger city. His family's new apartment had a No Pokémon policy in place, and so they had to release him into that river, never to be seen again.

So, now here Troy, in his mid-20s, sat by the edge of the river with his lunch by his side. While he ate a sandwich, he thought about his memories of the river. He remembered watching Dewott swim about in the river while he stayed on the edge to watch. His parents always told him that he shouldn't get in the water, even if he didn't know why. Was the water deep, did it flow rapidly, or were they just being paranoid?

Troy took a moment to investigate the water, and sure enough, it was pretty deep. The water was oddly pristine, clear enough that he could see the bottom, yet it seemed to sparkle somehow. Said bottom was far enough down that he could see why his parents were so concerned for his younger self, though he'd probably be fine now as an adult. He thought he could even see some Water-type Pokémon in there somewhere. There were a few Basculin swimming about, maybe a Krabby or two at the bottom. They all looked so peaceful.

The life of a Pokémon was so simple, Troy thought. Eat, sleep, maybe battle sometimes, it couldn't be that hard. Sure, there was the issue of surviving in the natural world exposed to the elements, but he was pretty sure he'd seen a television show about that, and those people on there seemed to do it just fine. Wouldn't it be great to not have to worry about making money or paying taxes or any of that? Life as a Pokémon would probably be great, honestly.

Oh, but what was Troy kidding? Being a Pokémon? He could dream as much as he wanted, but there was no way that was even possible yet. It probably wouldn't be for a while, at least, unless science advanced at an absurd pace over the next few decades. That, and the possibility of Arceus watching over him and feeling generous enough to grant him his incredibly spontaneous wish. Troy was a human through and through, and as far as he could tell he was stuck in this lifestyle of his for the rest of his life.

A sound caught the attention of the young man. It sounded like rustling grass, like something was moving about. He remembered the warnings, that if you heard the grass rustle, there was a good chance a wild Pokémon was nearby. As he tried to remember what to do next, he grabbed his lunch and stood up, taking a moment to finish his sandwich. Good Arceus, what could that even be walking around?

Troy looked around, hoping to find the source of the noise. He heard it again as he looked, making it easier for him to pinpoint the location. At last, he connected the sound to a patch of tall grass by the river bank, a few feet tall at most. Throwing caution to the wind, Troy slowly approached the grass. Whatever was in it couldn't be that dangerous if they were so short, right?

"Is anyone there?"

The grass rustled again. Troy also heard another, more distinct noise. Actually, it sounded like a Pokémon's cry. Troy remembered that a Pokémon's cry usually sounds just like its commonly-accepted name; for example, a Pikachu might say something along the lines of "Pi-Pikachu!" or "Piiikaaa..." Using this knowledge, he decided to try and identify that call.

"Dew! Dewott!"

Dewott? Damn, he was just thinking about his old pal Dewey not too long ago, wasn't he? By Arceus, wouldn't that be a coincidence if Dewey just so happened to be here all this time? It'd be kinda odd if Dewey hadn't evolved in all these years, but it wasn't unheard of for base-level Pokémon to live for decades without ever evolving, he just never thought that'd apply to Dewey.

"Dewey? Is that you...?"

Troy was suddenly greeted by a short, blue otter-looking Pokémon running out from the grass. The suddenness of it all made Troy fall flat on his ass. He yelled in pain from the impact, cussing loudly. As he looked over at his onlooker, he couldn't help but detect a hint of confusion. Maybe they were just trying to figure out why Troy's reaction was so strong?

"Dew?"

The Dewott approached Troy, walking over next to him. Troy watched as he was slowly looked over, and he decided to do some looking as well. For starters, this Dewott seemed to be the exact same shade of blue as Dewey. Those eyes, too, they somehow looked both cute and serious at the same time. It all seemed to match up perfectly. This was Dewey, alright, there was no mistaking it.

"...hey, Dewey, you remember me, right? It's Troy."

Dewey's confused look slowly turned to a smile which grew more and more excited. He gave his old friend a hug, although his arms were too short to wrap around all the way. God, he was cute, Troy thought, he couldn't help but hug back.

"Dewott, Dew Dewott!"

"Yeah, I miss you too, buddy." Troy slowly got back up, fully standing after a few minutes. His legs still felt a bit wobbly after being knocked down, though Dewott hugging one of them seemed to keep him anchored. "You haven't changed a bit, have you? Still the same old Dewey I remember, always so affectionate." He tried picking his pal up, but at 54 pounds, he wasn't going to succeed any time soon. "Ah well, I tried."

Dewey eventually let go of his hug and walked over to the edge of the river. He sat on the edge and stared out into the water, before turning around and appearing to beckon Troy to do the same. Obliging, Troy followed and sat down next to the little guy.

"So, Dewey," Troy asked, as if expecting to get a response he could understand completely, "what have you been doing since we released you? Living peaceful?" Dewey simply nodded in response, not saying anything. "Alright. Damn, it's so nice seeing you again after all these years. Shame I can't really bring you home with me, but I'm just so happy you're still around, still remembering me and all that."

Dewey looked deep in thought, like he was trying to come up with a response. Troy had read once that Dewott were known for being focused and disciplined Pokémon, constantly deep in thought about something. Usually it was something involving those scallops... err, scalchops at their sides, but Dewey was something of a pacifist, never really caring much for fight training or anything like that. Troy couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking. Maybe he was just thinking about the circumstances that led up to this very moment...

At last, Dewey lit up; it seemed that he had come up with an idea. He stood up and looked out into the water of the river. He pointed to it and gestured back to Troy, before jumping straight into the water. Dewey swam around in the water, clearly having a good time, before once again gesturing to Troy. It seemed he wanted Troy to get in with him, from the looks of it.

"Huh? You want me to take a swim?" Troy shrugged. "Well, that water's kinda deep, but I'm a grown-up now, I can handle it."

Troy looked at the water, and then at himself. He was fully clothed still, and frankly, he didn't want to get his clothes wet. That, of course, meant he'd have to strip down for this one... but how much? He could just go down to his underwear, but that meant his briefs would be getting wet as well. His other choice was to take off even those boxers and leave himself fully exposed. There weren't any people around for miles, but regardless, it was an awkward prospect. He remembered that Dewey was entirely nude himself, being a Pokémon, and that anxiety dissipated soon enough.

"Sorry if this scars you for life, Dewey."

Troy began to strip down, with his footwear going first. He tossedthem aside and tried to look away from his old friend. The shirts and pants went after, followed finally by his briefs. At last, he stood stark naked, revealing his completely average body to the world. Dewey looked on, just staring. He didn't seem to dislike what he was seeing, per se, he just seemed confused.

"...sorry, didn't wanna get my clothes wet. Hey, you're naked though, it's fine, right?"

"...Dewott!"

Troy walked to the edge and slowly edged himself into the water. The water was... well, it was chilly. Not quite cold, but it certainly made Troy shiver. Dewey seemed fine though, it must have been that fur. Fur would be convenient right around now, the human thought, if only to warm him up a bit, but it'd have to be short enough that getting it wet wouldn't be problematic. Like Dewey's maybe, but not quite...

Troy saw something right next to him in the water As he looked, he found it wasn't any solid object, but more... well, he wasn't sure how to described it. The most accurate description he could use was... a patch of shining, colored water. It looked awfully mystical, that was for sure, like some sort of magical spell in a cheesy fantasy movie. This shimmering spread around him; not Dewey, for some reason, just him. It shined in almost every color of the rainbow, forming in a circle around the human and surrounding him.

"...huh?"

Troy felt something rush through his body, along with a sudden warmth to mask the coolness of the water. It felt like a jolt of energy surging from top to bottom, making him feel more alert. His eyes grew wide, and he held onto a patch of dry land to keep himself steady. Whatever was going on, it scared him at first. He didn't like this adrenaline rush, not one bit.

"What's going on...?!"

"Dew?"

The young man gulped as that feeling coursed through his veins, chills running down his spine. His perception of the world around him began to slowly change; it almost felt like he was on some ridiculously hard drugs, like the kinds he'd take in college. He remembered how he enjoyed doing those so much; the only reason he didn't develop a habit was because he couldn't afford to pay any dealers. This sensation, in turn, started to grow more and more enjoyable.

Dewey looked on in confusion, maybe a little fear, at what he was seeing. He could see some sort of white glow surrounding Troy, the source of which he couldn't identify. Was... was the water doing this to him? Was this why Troy was never allowed to swim in there with him? There was nothing he could really do to stop this, so he was stuck watching... whatever was going on happen to his friend.

While all Dewey could see was white, Troy got a closer glance at what was going on underneath. He saw orange patches growing on his skin; it was definitely fur, from the looks of it. Short, fine fur that was still enough to make him feel just a little bit warmer in those spots. He rubbed it with his hand, and sure enough, it felt exactly as it looked: Soft, but not fluffy. This orange fur spread across his arm, while an odd growth began to develop from it. This growth was blue in color, and was structurally similar to the fins on a fish.

"Dear Arceus, what's...where do I recognize that?"

The same thing happened to his other arm, orange fur sprouting, blue fin growing. It reminded him of some sort of Pokémon, but which one? Let's think, orange fur, orange fur... Chimchar? No, that's a Fire type, and even Troy knew that Fire types and water did not always mix well. Maybe it was a Water type, which was supported by the existence of the fins. He then remembered that Buizel and Floatzel both fit the criteria he was looking for. These fins here were short, kind of stubby, and since he knew Floatzel's arm-fin-things were longer, he figured that couldn't be it. So, Buizel it was, that explained what arm this was, but it didn't explain why his arm was changing like this.

As his arms changed, his hands grew stubbier, more paw-like. Just from the looks of things, it was going to be harder to grab stuff from now on. Fur crept down his body, spreading to his torso and beyond. Once the fur reached his stomach, it started to change color to something more yellowish. Like... cream, yeah, that's right, that was cream-colored fur growing across his belly. Also, was he getting smaller? A measure of his arm seemed to indicate as such, since it wasn't reaching as far as it had previously. Well, that made sense, Troy thought, a Buizel was only a little over two feet tall, just a few inches shorter than a Dewott. If he was going to be a Buizel, there was no reason to be a freakishly tall one.

Troy's confusion subsided, growing more into passive acceptance. Sure, he was turning into a Pokémon, no big deal. Being a human was lame anyway, too much work. Dewey, meanwhile, remained baffled by the whole ordeal. This was even truer the moment this odd, white glowing abomination that seemed to replace his friend turned to him and spoke.

"I don't know, Dewey, this is... weird, but I think I like it."

"What the... what's going on? This is real weird, this river isn't supposed to do this...!"

Wait a minute. Did Dewey just speak? Those were definitely words that Troy just heard... or did he hear words? He certainly interpreted words, but hearing those words was a whole different story. It probably still sounded like "Dewott" to anyone who might be listening in. So, wonderful, Troy could understand what Dewey was saying, that was... honestly great. Not being able to understand exactly what Dewey was trying to convey when they were younger was something that frustrated Troy a lot, so this was something he was looking forward to quite a bit.

"Dewey...? I think I can understand you now..."

Something started growing around Troy's neck, like some sort of sac he wore as a collar. Bright yellow in color, it didn't suffocate him, but it was clearly stuck to him. As he breathed, he noticed that the yellow... sac thing inflated when he inhaled and deflated when he exhaled. It felt natural, like this had always been a part of him, and he adjusted quickly. The fact that he was adjusting so well to this surprised even Troy, as well as how much he was enjoying all this. In fact, he was really... really enjoying this.

"Dewey? Since I can understand you... I think... how do you feel about this?"

"I'm confused, Troy," Dewey admitted. "I'm incredibly confused... but... something else."

Dewey found he was getting some sort of enjoyment out of these events, more carnal than anything. Watching as Troy's silhouette changed to something more Buizel-like, arms and legs getting shorter and torso shifting in shape, he couldn't help but imagine the final product right in front of him. He imagined what kinds of things he'd do with that Buizel, what kinds of sexual desires he might share with it, and blushed.

"Troy?" Dewey sighed heavily. "I think I'm enjoying this too much."

"I... I hear you. I think I am too, Dewey..."

Troy could see his face extending outward; snout, muzzle, he wasn't sure of the proper term, but he knew it wasn't a human face anymore. Orange fur covered the top half, although he got a hint of the cream color on the bottom half. With the black, beady nose and black marks on his cheeks, the least he could call himself right now was cute. As much as the shifting and cracking of bones hurt, his senses were numbed by his desires. Dewey was the one thing he wanted at that very moment... and he couldn't wait until this was over so the prize could be claimed.

"I can't believe I'm finding you hot right now, Dewey... like, weirdly hot..."

"S-same... urgh!"

Dewey's member, not initially noticeable, soon grew far more noticeable. There was no use ignoring it anymore, his needs were just growing more and more obvious. His heart pounded, breathing hastened, imagination flying free like a bird. Soon enough, he and that cute little Buizel could do whatever they wanted with each other, and no one would be around to stop them. There was just the matter of waiting...

Fortunately for him, and fortunately for Troy as well, the last of Troy's changes were on the way. A tail grew from the base of his spine, ultimately splitting into two ends. He imagined he could probably use those like the propellers on the back of a boat to swim around more quickly. At this point, he was also far shorter, and his legs were so stubby they might not even be immediately noticeable if he sat a certain way. That shimmer of light surrounding him was reaching its apex, its peak brightness, it just needed to finish up some final touches. The tail finished growing, a balance of orange and cream fur was reached, and Troy was, in effect, ready.

As Troy got a good look at himself, the light surrounding him began to fade, and Dewey finally got the chance to see his friend as a Buizel. It was everything he was hoping for, everything about him screamed "Buizel." Those paws, the face... by Arceus, Troy was adorable right now. The fact that he was suddenly attracted so strongly to him scared Dewey a bit. He'd just been reunited with his childhood friend, and now he's a Buizel and he wants to have sex with him? It didn't make sense, but he wasn't about to fight it. It felt far too good for him to fight it.

"Damn, Troy, I don't know what's gotten into me, but... you're cute."

"T-thanks... and, ah, Dewey..."

Troy looked back at Dewey closely. Something looked different about him, but he wasn't sure what exactly it was. He had an idea, though: Dewey was suddenly far, far more attractive. Maybe it was his build, or maybe it was the face, or maybe, just maybe, it was the now-dissipated shimmer. Whatever it was, this was someone he could spend the rest of his life with. Still, he found himself having the exact same epiphany that Dewey was having. He was confused, sure, but he was happy.

"...you're hot. I don't know how else to put it, you're hot, and I think I want to have sex with you."

Troy held onto the edge of the river; his paws were still dexterous enough to hold onto things fine enough. He looked down to see his own cock hardening. It was as if his body was preparing itself for what was about to unfold between them, like this was all meant to happen from the very beginning. As his blood flowed, and his heartbeat accelerated, he looked down into the water, where he caught a glance at Dewey's shaft, which to his surprise was quite large. Not overly so, but certainly it had to be big by the standards of someone less than three feet tall. It'd probably fit rather snugly...

"Sorry if that's too forward, but, uh... it looks like you did, too?"

"I think so." Dewey swam toward Troy, also eyeing up Troy's admittedly average-sized member. "Say, how do you feel about being on bottom? I don't have any real experience being bottom, and I was hoping you would... I don't know... volunteer?"

Dewey was not immediately presented with a verbal response. Rather, Troy responded by flipping himself over, stomach facing downward. With his tail lifted, he gave Dewey a good luck at the hole he was about to fill. That was Dewey's prize for sitting through the oddest few minutes of his life, and what a prize it was. He lowered himself slightly so Dewey wouldn't have to struggle to reach and gave himself a smack.

"Claim me already, Dewey."

With a firm nod, Dewey propped up his cock and slowly inserted it. Troy initially winced from the pain, not used to this sort of scenario yet. That pain soon subsided, however, when a tidal wave of arousal crashed down onto him. He'd never even had his anus penetrated before, let alone by someone else's penis, but it was simultaneously the strangest and best feeling he'd felt in a long time, to be on bottom. He knew then that he hadn't made a mistake in letting Dewey take top.

"Errrgh... n-nicely done, just... just keep going."

Dewey, reassured by Troy's compliment, gently thrusted in Troy's pucker, pulling out and pushing back in at periodic intervals. His breaths were noisy, probably loud enough to attract the attention of anyone nearby, assuming anyone even was nearby. Neither of them cared, though; they were Pokémon, after all, this was natural for them. As Dewey kept thrusting, Troy's mouth hung open, tongue hanging out, face blushing wildly. He'd never felt so primal, so feral in all his life, and he was loving every minute of it.

The pair of them went at it for several minutes, both Pokémon's cocks throbbing violently and leaking precum into the water below. Moans involving various variants on "Dewott" and "Buizel" escaped their lips, even from their own perspective where they could understand exactly what they were trying to say. The more they continued, the more they got into it, and the louder and more passionate they got. How long would it be until they finished? Probably not too much longer, but certainly it was inevitable.

"Hah... hah... how much more do you think... you can keep going?"

"Not... not much longer, errgh..." Dewey grunted. "Brace for impact, Troy, this gonna get... messy...!"

"Then... don't hold back. Just... fill me up!"

With one final thrust, Dewey came hard in Troy's ass. He was practically yelling, with how loudly he moaned. At the same time, Troy let loose and came into the water below, grabbing the dirt with all the strength he could to hold in there. Their minds were fogged by the bliss of it all, even more than they were before. All they wanted to do in that moment was to keep doing this again and again, yet they knew they could not. They were both running out, unfortunately, so all they could do was enjoy what they had.

When they were done, they were left panting, out of breath. Dewey, after a minute or so, pulled out, dick still semi-erect and dripping. Troy looked like a mess, nearly collapsed as his tails drooped. He'd just had the time of his life, and now he needed to lie down, because by Arceus he was tired. He was left in shock and awe that he'd just been fucked by a Pokémon, moreso than the fact that he himself was a Pokémon, and would likely remain one for the rest of his life.

"Hah... how... how the fuck did we do that, Dewey?"

"I... I don't know, man." Dewey moved over and lied down next to Troy in the grass, facing him. "Are you okay? Did that hurt at all?"

"I, uh..." Troy paused. "Probably a little at the beginning, but I don't know, something happened, and... it suddenly stopped hurting after that. It just felt... really, really good. Thank you for that, Dewey..."

"Y-you're welcome, man." Dewey hugged Troy again, smiling. "Fuck, I have no idea what happened, or how, but... that was amazing."

Dewey looked around them, seeing a wooden sign in the distance. Poor guy was a Pokémon all his life, he didn't know how to read that stuff. Dewey then asked Troy if he could read it, and so his Buizel friend obliged. Troy sat up and looked at the sign; despite it being higher off the ground, he could actually read it just fine. He began to make out the words, speaking them slowly and carefully.

"Warning. There have been disappearances linked to the Mystical River, and we advise that you do not try and swim in the waters. Please exercise caution." Troy paused, before laughing awkwardly. "Damn, I should have seen that sign, huh?"

"I guess so... by Arceus, I'm so sorry this happened, I didn't know this would happen, honest-"

"Hey hey hey, Dewey." Troy pressed his paw to Dewey's lips. "These have been some of the most miserable years of my life. What just happened... this is a chance to start over, to start anew. Even better, I get to do it with the best friend I ever had." Despite no longer being affected by the river's mind-altering properties, he still found himself enamored with Dewey. "Hey, Dewey?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you have any place where you stay? I could probably use a place to spend... whoever knows how long?"

"Ah, sure... there's a little island upstream I spend most of my time on, it's big enough for two. I hope you don't mind eating Shellder."

"I can handle seafood."

Troy laughed for a few minutes. Finding the laughter contagious, Dewey laughed as well. Yep, just like in the good old days, the two of them were close to inseparable. Sure, they had their benefits now, but in many ways, this was a return to a simpler time for the both of them. No one knew where tomorrow would take them, or the next day for that matter. All they knew was that this was their life now, and by Arceus, they were going to live it up.
