The first of many... Hopefully.

The woman behind the HR desk looked at my resume, then at me, then back at the resume. "Well". She finally spoke. "Well"? I echoed. She pored over it a few more seconds, but I already knew the answer. "You just don't have what we are looking for in an employee right now Mr Westbrook" she'd say, and then I'd still be at a dead end job in manufacturing and delivery for the rest of my days with a worthless degree in 20th century history.

She looked up, and began to say the exact same words that all my other applications that denied me. Some didn't even bother to say no, they just never returned my emails. This place wasn't my first choice, in fact. It was way down at the bottom. I mean, does anyone really want to work at this DuPont esk chemical development company? I dunno, hazard pay must be lucrative if you deal with toxic waste or something. Either way, I was still out of luck. She asked me if she could show me out, but I replied that I knew the way. I still thanked her though.

Walking down the beige hallways (who paints a hallway beige anyway?) I must not have been paying very good attention because I walked into a worker pushing a trolley of barrels one of which was full of water, which took it upon itself to splash onto my leg. I apologized profusely, he was understanding, but my jeans were still wet. I walked out to my car, and began to drive home. Leg wet, and mood fouled I made my way home. my leg was kind of itching, I chalked it up to my pants being wet and unlocked my door. looking around my apartments, I saw everything was in place none of my militaria had moved, as it should be. And I saw the bills sitting on my computer desk. "Ugh, might as well get this over with.wonder what I'll have to pinch back on this month."

So I sat down, and worked. And worked, and worked. Several hours passed for me in just a blink of an eye. "God, it's twelve already?" Getting up I accidentally knocked a cup off the table, thankfully it was empty. "Meh, I'll deal with it tomorrow, it's a weekend anyway." I stumbled off to my bedroom, shedding clothes as I went, by eyes felt funny, I was running off of willpower and weirdly my leg was even itchyer than before. Until finally landing on my bed. Asleep, dead to the world.
