How I Came to Be

This is the story about how I became the awesome Ender Dragon I am today.

You would probably look at me and think, "He's always been a dragon." But you would be wrong. I might look like it now, but I was not born a dragon only reborn as one. I think it's finally time to get this written down somewhere, not that I fear I would forget it, but simply as a written record of history. That is what historians do is it not? Also what better way to explain it to my companions, especial Cloudtail, then a written account that can't change from telling to telling? Though I'll get to my companions later in the story, for now, let's get started with my birth, my first birth as a human.

I was born in a small plantation just outside what is present-day Richmond, Virginia. I don't remember much about my early life, just that I was born near the end of the American Revolutionary War. I remember losing my parents in my Teens and learning to survive on my own. The next thing I remember is meeting Salazar. I was in my mid to late '20s and was firmly established as a trapper in the mountains when I stumbled across him, literally. I was out hunting when I fell into the entrance of his cave. That was a surprise for both him and me as it was a solid rock wall from the outside. He would end up telling me that it was a barrier designed to keep out anything except for the somebody pure of heart for all eternity to be his companion or something like that.

His previous companion had broken him emotionally to such a degree, that he had created the barrier and expected to die long before anybody made it through. When I found him, Salazar didn't have much time left as his will to live was fading faster then his body was. This is where my memory gets fuzzy again. I can remember spending some time with him, learning about his kind, the Ender Dragon. According to him, he had stopped counting how old he was but he could remember the dawn of civilization. The next I remember is pain before waking up a few days later an Ender Dragon. My only guess is because there is only one Ender Dragon at once, he asked me if I wanted to become the next Ender Dragon. Not having anything to hold me back I agreed and he used the last of his magic transforming me into an Ender Dragon and giving me much of his knowledge.

And so there I was a fifty-four foot long feral Ender Dragon in a cave in Virginia. The first little bit of magic I learned was a size spell, soon followed by transformation magic. This allowed me to change my form from feral to anthro and shrink down to ten feet tall. That size just felt right and so I've made that my default size. That was about 210 years ago, which is what I started using to count my age, my rebirth as it was, instead of a date which I could no longer remember. The next thirty or so years passed without incident as I was building a home in a hollowed out space I made in a mountain. Collecting things of interest or value as well as investing in the stocks at the right times to add a substantial amount to the already massive treasure Salazar had left to me.

1845 is a year that will always stand out in my memory as that's when I meet my first companion. So I should probably explain the importance of a companion at this point. As you saw with Salazar, Ender Dragons can live for a very long time. Therefore it's important for us to have somebody that not only will spend some time with us, but be a companion in life. This is both for our sanity as well as pleasure as often companions are picked for their willingness to be with us, both in bed and out of. In return, we trust them completely with everything. Anyways, I found my first companion that year, the worst mistake of my life.

She was a lovely little, compared to me, Red Fox. At the start, she was a joy to be around and with. Always willing to do most anything and I soon trusted her with some of my most intimate and closely guarded secrets. The next morning I awoke to find the Vixen gone, along with the small amount of cash I kept around the house, a few hundred thousand dollars and about twenty-five bars of gold. She wasn't that hard to track down, not as an Ender Dragon that was. Instead of direct confrontation, I decided to watch and see what she would do, and what I saw broke my heart. She was selling the gold, spending all the money on herself, and bragging about how she ripped off this dragon, me, with a long con.

That was enraging, and while I normally have a very tight hold on my temper, I lost it at that moment. Transforming into my feral self, I flew down and plucked her out of the street she was walking down. What happened next I don't wish to repeat, but suffice to say you will not be able to find any part of her anywhere. After that, I flew back to the market place and collected the remaining gold bricks and cash before returning home. That was about 174 years ago and while I have been back out into the world, I have never looked for another companion for fear of finding someone just like her once again. Which so far I have been proven wrong with my second companion.

And here is where I think I will end this story, as that is how I became the dragon I am today. Just without some of the boring details such as my multiple collection trips throughout history for my hobbies.
