Rising Anew -continued-Chapter 2-

Narina woke slowly. She sat up oblivious to her naked cousin standing there staring at her. Suddenly she felt a pressure on her back as she started to lean backwards.

She looked behind her and her scream filled the house.

"WHAT IS THAT!!!" she cried out. "Narcenac where are you?!?"

"Right here, calm down," he said trying to remain calm. Her shouting was hurting his sensitive new ears. They twitched with each word. It felt slightly strange, but it lessened the pain.

Narina looked at the creature that had responded to her and screamed again.

"WHAT are you?!?" she shouted at him.

"Narina! Calm down! Please!" he pleaded with her, flicking his tail around without noticing.

Narina recognized his voice and slowly grew quiet, grabbing her tail, which had by now worked itself out of her loose pants, and holding it out in front of her. Her eyes were as big as saucers as she inspected it and tested it.

"What happened to us..." she murmured solemnly.

"I don't have any idea Naree..." he replied. "This... This feels amazing!"

Narina looked up at Narcenac with a type of fear he had never seen before. It was an animal fear. Terror.

"Narcenac, I am scared. What do we do?" she said between her sobs.

That took the heart right out of Narcenac and broke it. He didn't want to see his cousin so upset like this.

"Naree, don't worry. This is a gift, I think." he stated cheerfully. "Purrma said something about reading something only tiger eyes could see..."

He looked over and saw the purple envelope laying where he had been asleep. Picking it up he saw letters where there had been none earlier. "Rise Anew" was all that was written on the envelope. He slid a claw under the edge of the flap on the envelope and lifted it.

The sweet smell of violets flooded their senses. It was intoxicating to them. They could not only smell the petals that fell from the letter, but taste them, and feel them. Narina had to stop pouting and breath the sweet scent in. This seemed to calm her down and help her relax.

"Those smell soooo wonderful!" she said as she fell over sideways looking quite like a kitten.

Narcenac shook his head to disperse the spell of that sweet scent. Taking out the letter he looked at the letters covering the pages. This was going to take a while.

***********************

Sitting on the bed with his tail tucked around his waist, Narcenac began reading the letter to Narina.

-Dear Grankittens,

-It is long since you have seen this old fat cat. I am fine, as I am sure you two have figured out by now. -There is no way your old Purrma is going to go down like that. Though it was a difficult trick to pull off. -No I am well alive and in hiding. Things are changing. The fact you can read this means that the blood -line was proven. You are now what is called a Narcomanta. It means the one who is Tiger. We are -special. No human can match our speed or our grace. We have all the agility of a tiger and the brain -capacity of humans, without their stupid sets of morals.

-You are going to have to get used to this.. It has been a long time since we have had any family members -change. It is rare. We had given up hope that any would be able to change, then you two were born. -There was no doubt, you were going to be the ones to change. But you both were even rarer than even the -normal Narcomanta. You are fully Narcomanta. You are like that permanently. You wont be forced to go -through the horrible pain and agony of returning to human. This also means that a secret must be revealed -to you both.

-You are not cousins. You never were. You are in fact from a totally set of families. Narcenac, while you -are of the direct bloodline of all the Tiger clans, Narina is not. I am sorry I had to keep this from you -both. But, it was for Narina's protection. Narina is from a family that broke from the main clan several -decades ago. The Broken Claw, as they are known in the clan, decided that they did not want to be part of -the entire clan. They were proud, arrogant. Only Narina's mother saw reason. She sought to escape back -to the clan and came under my protection.

-The Broken Claw will want one of their daughters back. They are slowly fading into oblivion. From what -I have heard, they have not had a single daughter turn for many years now. This is troubling to them. -Should they learn of Narina's exsistance, you will both be in danger.

-Narcenac, this is where your adventure begins. Come, find me where you have been told. There are many -things I wish to tell you both. Until then, goodbye my kittens.

Narcenac sat quietly, pondering this letter. "She isn't my cousin..." he thought to himself.

Narina looked at him with her deep purple eyes. He had always loved those eyes. In fact, he had always loved her more than anything else in this world. He just never thought much of it. She had always just been his wild cousin to him.

Now they were both wild. Something that was going to change them forever had just happened.

Narina opened her mouth as if to speak, her sharp teeth shining out at him, then as though she thought better of talking, laid her head on his shoulder and softly cried.

*****************

The next few days were spent getting used to their new bodies. It was a bit awkward to have a tail and they weren't used to it, or walking on their new feet for that matter.

By the end of the first day, they had walking correctly almost perfect. The next day they spent seeing what they could do with their tails, a practice that Narcenac enjoyed immensely. The entire time, they were having to learn to sort out all the new sensations they felt. They could smell even better than before and hear even the smallest sounds. Narcenac even noticed that tastes were sharper and more vivid. All the colors were the same, but the hues of purple in everything just seem to shine out.

That night after they had changed, Narcenac had lain awake. He had laid there in his bed and seen every little movement that a spider in the corner made. It was as clear as day to him.

By the third day, they were running outside, running and jumping. They were astounded at the achievements that they made. Jumping several feet in the air, running for an hour and not even feeling the effects.

They had spent the last few days naked as well. It seemed that their clothes were a bit different. The clothes would pull on their fur and they were all but impossible to wear with their tails. However, being naked didn't seem to bother either of them.

******************

Narcenac sat at the table in the kitchen trying to figure out what they should do now. Obviously they needed to go to this "Glade of Shadows". But, where on earth was it.

Another thing, even though he didn't like the idea, they needed clothes. Clothes that weren't bothersome to their extra anatomy.

Narcenac rose from the table and walked to Purrma's old room. He shifted through her old clothes hanging in the closet and realized that it would probably be best to let Narina choose her own clothes.

Suddenly a small silver knob caught his eyes. Slowly he reached in the closet and turned the knob. A soft click told him to pull and what he found astonished him.

Inside the small hidden door were hanging large baggy pants and shirts. The pants were altered though. They were made for a Narcomanta.

He took out one of the pairs of pants and slid into them, being careful to slide his tail through the ringed hole. They fit very comfortably. Next he tried on one of the shirts. It was more of an oversized sweater really. It was so soft and didn't bother his fur. This was perfect.

Narcenac ran to find Narina and tell her about the clothes.

He found her in the living room on her hands, she was in the second stage of Purrma's stretches and he happened to walk in right as her tail fail down next to her head, revealing her in full.

Narcenac stood there quietly embarrassed. He knew she wasn't his cousin, but it wasn't that easy to remember that when it was all he had believed his entire life.

Narina lowered her legs and stood herself up. Realizing Narcenac was there she suddenly seemed to blush.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Umm... I found some clothes..." he replied stuttering slightly.

"Really?" she said, seemingly forgetting the situation.

Narcenac nodded and told her to follow him. He showed her the closet and the hidden door inside and together they found the clothes they liked.
