This was for a writing challenge in a Telegram group I joined (link here if you're interested: https://t.me/joinchat/CPoeZhclggenrOEh0yYwvg). In under a thousand words, we would write a short story fitting a chosen theme. 'Waiting for the bus' was this week's theme.

I've been wanting to do a short story involving a nameless contract killer, but never found the opportunity until now. I like the final result, and think the ending is pretty sweet. What do you think?

EDIT: Here's the sequel for those interested: https://www.sofurry.com/view/1430946

Cherry

Finally, a new target:

Male elk, 6' 3", 310 lbs, and a corrupt business executive whose ex-employee was furious at the antlered bastard blacklisting her from obtaining further professional work after she refused to sleep with him. According to my client's encrypted email, she wanted it to 'look like a robbery gone wrong' and 'make him suffer without inflicting physical injury'. This one lived across the state though, meaning I'd need to leave town. My tail already wagged already at the thought of another 'paycheck'.

Shoving my laptop, some clothes and $4,000 worth of hundred-dollar bills into my suitcase, I gathered the necessary equipment from my closet. Working as a contract killer required preparing for a vast number of unknowns, so I decided on a silencer pistol and a sniper rifle hidden in a guitar case.

Oh! I suddenly remembered before locking my door. Never forget bulletproof vests.

_ _ Hidden underneath a fancy suit and tie, I started wearing them after one of my clients tried literally backstabbing me. Sure, it was heavy, but it beat gaining another hideous scar.

Minutes later, I walked out of the apartment complex with a guitar case and luggage in each paw. The late-evening air brushed slightly against my muzzle. All around me the ambience of distant police sirens and shouting would've disturbed any outsider, but I'd lived in this terrible district for a long time. I'd grown accustomed to the ancient graffiti and foul smells of each dark alley, knowing the residents and what places to avoid trouble. Or find pleasure.

"Speaking of pleasure..." I murmured to myself.

The bus stop was empty, save for one familiar ocelot. Dressed in a pair of denim shorts, the feline's short-sleeved t-shirt didn't also bother to cover his bare stomach or his toned black-and-yellow-furred chest. Up, close anyone could see the bright green undies poking out of his midriff, like they were being begged to be pulled down. His bright, oceanic eyes lit up at seeing me, while my stoic gaze remained facing towards the road.

"Evening, sir!" Cherry grinned lusciously.

I gave a simple grunt. The ocelot's well-brushed tail swished the air behind his rear, which brought back memories of one of our sessions. Was it two weeks ago?

"Hmm, oh yeah, you're the quiet one from two weeks ago!"

Compared to the junkies, pimps, pickpockets and shadier furs living together in this ghetto, I partially stood out by being one of two wolves (the other a mob boss I'd worked with in the past) owning a penthouse apartment. Still, I didn't bother any of my neighbors and none of them risked their own skins by interacting with the tall, dark-furred wolf without a name. Cherry was the braver exception.

The feline fur started offering his services a few months ago, being kicked out of his home and having no college money, and quickly became popular in this district. Countless times, I'd seen Cherry and some men discreetly enter an alleyway and walk out several minutes later, both wearing smiles on their faces while the young ocelot held onto a wad of dollar bills. Other times, I noticed him standing by stop signs, waiting for a potential customer to show.

"I haven't seen you since that night," he commented with a friendly smile. "Have you been busy lately, sweetie? Gone somewhere great?"

I narrowed my eyes. "In New York, slicing a man's throat for trying to embezzle from the Italian Mafia," I didn't tell him. Instead, I returned my gaze back to the street (though not without one more glance at his ass).

As much as it was hard to believe, Cherry was a high school graduate. His lithe body and height made him look almost like a teenager, but after doing 'research', I knew the little twerp didn't lie about his age. I held certain qualms about hiring underage hookers, especially since a few of my past targets were monsters who preyed on kids.

Two weeks ago, it was the day after one of my targets fled the country. My clients opted from payment, and I wanted to expel my angry thoughts with a distraction. Low and behold, I found a certain ocelot loitering outside the apartment lobby entrance and gave the cute cat $200 for the entire night in a nearby motel room. If the ocelot thought he knew the raw stamina of a real man, then he couldn't have prepared for me. What made that night memorable though were the nonverbal interactions we had. I roughly caressed his torso, satisfied the cute feline with my paws and tongue, then relished in hearing his squeaking moans underneath me. They were opera music to my ears each time my cock thrust in and out of his warm tailhole.

The night eventually ended three climaxes later, both of us passed out and him tenderly wrapped in my arms. I left the next morning, however, since I needed another offer.

"So..." Cherry spoke up after a moment. "I never did get your name? Do you play guitar?" I remained silent, and so did he. Both of us tensed as a car drove by and disappeared around the corner. For both of our jobs, we never let our guard down on the street. He then asked me again, "Did...Did you have a nice weekend?"

A minute passed before boredom compelled me.

"I...did."

Immediately, the ocelot's eyes shone like Christmas.

"That's cool, I did too. One of my clients paid me five-hundred bucks for him and his friends. I swear, I could only waddle back to my place like a penguin." He giggled, causing a smile to creep across my muzzle before I could notice.

At long last, the bus arrived seconds later. I stepped onboard and sat on the window seat, where Cherry stood waving to me. Whether it be courtesy or something inside, I waved back at him as the bus lurched forward.

Note to self: purchase Cherry's services again once I'm back.
