Chapter 1

I walked out of a late night movie and was almost immediately confronted by two males: One anthro terrier and one human. The human spoke to me, "Hey baby, wanna ride with us?"

"No thanks, I can walk. It's not too far."

"I insist that you get in the car."

"No thank you."

"Get that fine ass of yours into the car. Stop being a coy bitch and get in!"

"No!" I yell and start running. I duck in and out of side streets and alleys, weaving between cars and parks and forests. Still they followed me. 'Damn that terrier. He can follow my scent.' I hesitate briefly just to try to get my bearings. I was lost.

I pulled my black hair out of my face and into a messy ponytail as I jogged along the street. After that I continued to run into a residential area that I haven't seen before, all the while softly yelling 'help'.

A door opens to my left and I quickly dive in so that my scent disappears. I collide with a furry body and I'm held securely to... him? It feels like a him.

"Shush," he tells me, "stay quiet until they pass." We stand there until we watch them pass. And he releases me. "Are you okay?"

I quiet down and shakily respond, "Yeah, I think I'm alright. Thank you for opening the door."

"I heard you running down the street and I had just come in from walking my fox, Kitsu." Hearing his name Kitsu yips softly and rubs against my leg. I kneel down and stroke behind his ears softly. "He's cute." I say sounding distracted and distant.

"Would you like to stay the night? I don't think that you have any way home tonight. Unless you'd rather me drive you." He asks concerned. "It's two thirty in the morning."

"Where are we?" I remembered that I had no idea where I had run to.

"We are in an apartment building made by NHI. Technically we are in the outskirts of Burnaby. Where do you live?"

"Downtown in the Burrard Street area."

"And you ran all the way here? You have good stamina and endurance."

"I run in my spare time and I also teach ballroom dance in the evenings."

"That explains it. Would you at least like to come up for a drink? I may have something to calm your nerves."

"Yes, a drink would be good I think." I quietly follow him as he walks over to the elevator and presses the button to go up. The elevator arrives and we get in and for the first time I really look at him. What struck me first were his eyes.

They reminded me of someone in my past the same blue/green hue of my friend who disappeared from my life. Then I noticed that he was an anthro Lynx. He was as tall as a normal human male and he wore no shoes. His fur was silver and slightly spotted black. The fur on his head was shaggier, similar to human hair.

During my scrutiny he presses the button for the 17th floor. He takes the leash off of Kitsu and Kitsu puts his front paws on my legs. I pick him up and he licks my face and I giggle quietly. He stands off quietly, "You can smile." He says with a chuckle in his voice.

"Yes, I can. Sorry, I'm just..."

"I know. Here we are." We step out of the elevator into a hallway with only one door in it. He unlocked the door and we walked in. His flat was exquisite. The walls were white as were the heated marble tiles on the floor. The drapes and other niceties in the room, (lamps, tables etc.) were a metallic gold.

To me it seemed kinda like he was a deity.

"You're place looks amazing." I whisper, taking it all in.

He chuckles quietly, "Well thank you." He walks into the kitchen and pulls out two bottles of Smirnoff Ice and opens mine for me. "Do you want to see a magic trick?" He inquires sporadically.

"Sure, why not?" He hands me his bottle of Smirnoff Ice and picks up his Katana from the holder on the wall. I stiffen slightly and my sapphire eyes watch his movements carefully. He moves quickly and all we hear is a soft 'clink' as a top bit of the bottle hits the floor. I release my breath slowly.

"Shiiiiii-"I trail off wordless. He places his katana back on the wall and takes the bottle from me and starts to drink it. I drain the drink in a couple gulps.

"Well you can have the spare bedroom. Did you want to watch something to take your mind away? I have a bunch of comedies." I nod numbly and go lay down on the couch. He fiddles around with the DVD player and TV and the movie starts. I sat up and he sat down beside me.

"You know, you can lie down. I don't mind if you place your head on my lap." I move myself and he strokes my hair softly. "You know, I'm sure you're very beautiful underneath all that sweat and dirt. Why don't you go take a bath?"

"I think a bath would be nice. Thank you." I follow him to the bathroom and he shows me around. A large Jacuzzi tub sat beside the far wall and a shower beside it. A giant cupboard sits above it and every thing anyone would ever need in the bathtub was arranged in it.

He shows me how to work it and quietly leaves the room. I fill the tub with vanilla bubble bath and slink slowly into the warm water. I wash my body with vanilla soap and clean my hair with watermelon smelling shampoo and conditioner and when I'm about to go under to rinse my hair I hear a soft knock on the bathroom door.

"Come in." I call to him softly knowing that the bubbles will cover me enough. He opens the door and walks in to place a robe by me.

"Here's to dry yourself off on and there are clothes in your room. You just have to go into the closet to find a bra and a pair of socks and panties for yourself. If you need anything I'll be out playing the piano or in my room."

"Thank you again for being so kind and hospitable."

"You're welcome." He walks out silently of the room, the pads on his feet being the silencers. I finish up my washing and I put on the robe and start heading towards the sound of music being played.

"The Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, I approve." I say as I lean against the wall. I yawn quietly and look at the clock. "Four in the morning? Well I think I'm going to try to sleep. Thank you for all of this."

"I'll be making us a good breakfast, if you would enjoy staying for a little while longer."

"I would love to."

"Okay, well I'll surprise you in the morning then. Good night."

"Good night." I trudge sleepily to the spare room and crawl under the covers. Before my head hit the pillow I was out cold.
