#6 of Stories and fanfics

A simple story about my character Cyrene and her afternoon. Which doesn't end up so simple when the Order of Moebius comes calling and her evil doppelganger self comes to attack her hometown!

Location: Peachton City, Southeast Northamer

Time: 6.12 P.M

Date: March 10th, 3256

Cyrene Daniel was walking home from college that one cool March day after a busy time spent at her college. The Sophomore had her noggin filled with all sorts of theorems and algorithms as her head pounded with knowledge that she barely could comprehend after a vigorous day of study. Yet now all she wanted was a break from a tiring day of academia.

"Mom said she wanted me to stop by the Wallet Mart before heading home, what was she wanted me to get again? Milk? Spices? Oh, I better text her. Wait, she's at her job. Damn, I don't want to get mouthed off for interrupting her teaching at the other campus..I guess if I just look around I'll remember the thing she wanted me to get" Cyrene muttered to herself as the slightly tall anthrophamorphic vixen calmly walked down the street while carrying her backpack containing her laptop computer and purchased books.

As she neared the Wallet Mart, she could see there was a multitude of parked vehicles around the super-market. While things were calmer during this time of day as the afternoon in Peachton City began to set, still there were citizens looking to acquire their necessities without the long lines as the evening began as the day was soon to set. The young vixen woman traversed down the pavement until she entered the automatic doors of the store. While it wasn't the largest of Wallet Marts, it was none the less convenient for the patrons and shoppers in the region.

"Let's see, mom wanted me to get something. Something...now what was it?" Cyrene said as she began to walk around the store looking through the aisles.

The ginger red haired vixen began to scan and walk down isle after isle until she came across a unfortunate sight, an old lamb lady was trying to reach atop a higher shelf for some prune juice. Sadly, for the elderly woman, she was too short in arm's length. By some mistake, perhaps the human employees at the Wallet Mart had stacked the juice up on the high shelf, perhaps it was out of negligence or haste to get stacking of wares done as quickly as possible. The juice was also too high up for Cyrene to reach as well, considering even as tall as she was for a fox, she only measured to about four feet. However, there was one thing she could do..

"Oh geez, um miss. Do you need assistance?" Cyrene asked as she calmly approached the elderly lamb in the dress.

"Why yes dear, I seem to can't reach to get this juice here on the shelf. Normally they keep it on the lower shelf here, but I just cannot manage to get it." The elderly lamb specified to her.

"Right, well I guess they didn't take into account us Mobians when whoever stacked the shelf did that."Cyrene replied.

"Tell you what. How about you look over for something over there and I'll get some help." Cyrene said while trying to divert the lamb's attention.

"I don't know why you want me to do that, but okay dear." The old lady said as she turned around.

While the lamb woman wasn't looking. Cyrene checked to make sure nobody was looking with weary eyes in the isle way. When she deduced that the coast was clear she closed her eyes and imagined that she was the size of a normal human adult male. Suddenly, it would appear as she was able to magically enlarge and grow until she was able to simply reach able to reach and grab the prune juice jug while the lamb woman appeared to be fiddling around in her purse, perhaps to procure coupons.

Cyrene then contemplated of reverting back to normal as she shrunk down to her normal stature. At this point she tried to hail the lamb woman once more while the prune juice was still in her hands.

"What luck miss, it seems the juice had fallen, and I was able to catch it" Cyrene stated to the elderly lady.

"Hm? But I didn't hear anything drop, how strange" The woman said as she turned around and noticed the prune juice was in her hands.

"Eh, maybe you just need to get your ears checked?" Cyrene said as she handed the woman the juice.

"I sure hope not but thank you dear. I have a coupon for the juice as well." The lamb replied.

"Don't mention it, ma'am." Cyrene said as she soon waved goodbye to the elderly lady after making sure she would move on.

"Phew, okay no using your powers in public, got it." Cyrene remarked to herself.

Meanwhile, outside the Wallet Mart and off towards the park of Peachton, a strange sight was beginning to unfold. Park goers noticed a flash of light in the sky in the middle of the baseball field of the park. At first some people thought it was lighting, but then they would quickly realize that there were no clouds in the sky even as the sun would show none. Suddenly a bright flash of light would open surprising everyone around, yet fortunately not blinding them as the light would glisten to a specific point mid-air right over the pitcher's mound. This soon began to frighten and startle the people at the park as they stepped back not knowing what was happening.

Suddenly, even more of an apocalyptic sight occurred. The sky around the light grew red and soon a tear between the very fabric of reality was fissuring between realspace and formed some sort of wormhole or portal to another realm. At this the people in the park began to flee in panic as they deduced this could be the very well end of the world.

Still, the oval like tear began to form until out from it stepped what appeared to be highly armed and well armored high-tech soldiers with energy weapons. The first group was about two or three who walked out from seemingly thin air and appeared from the nether as they came in single file before getting in a defensive stance each around the portal. Suddenly more and more of these Mobian like soldiers in battle armor and weapons would exit out of the portal as if they were deployed in squads. These soldiers appeared both masculine and feminine and had a variety of species, but mostly seemed to be made of canines and felines.

After the area was secured and the civilians around the park had fled. One of them, who appeared to have a wolf's tail radioed on what looked like a transceiver of sorts. Soon from the portal stepped forth two other beings. One appeared to be a grey fured, ginger red haired vixen who was rather tall with jade green eyes and what looked like they had on pink sweatpants with an outer skirt and a sports brah on. The other seemed to be a chocolate fured female cat woman in what looked like some form of power armor that glowed bright magenta in illumination. Both the vixen and the feline moved away from the portal as soon it began to close and dim until the tear appeared to be erased from the airspace around the pitcher's mound.

"Ah, what a lovely day, er I mean, evening for conquest. Wouldn't you agree, Monica?" The vixen said to the cat woman in the armor.

"Yes, baroness. It's rather odd that the warpgate relay was able to reach this far in enemy territory though." She stated as she replied to the fox.

"Eh, you worry too much. Probably the boys back at home were able to enhance the gate to make it capable of us traveling further, or maybe we're just in luck." The fox woman replied.

"Of course, baroness."

"Looks like we're in some sort of park. Doesn't seem like there's a military base around." The fox said.

"We could just be miles from one, perhaps we should scout?" The cat known simply as Monica asked.

"Eh, I prefer MY way of scouting. Now come, let's get this city under Order control!" The fox who was simply referred to as 'baroness' exclaimed as she pointed towards the city.

"But Scylla, shouldn't we wait on reinforcements?" Monica asked her.

"There's no time. One of these stooges around here probably are reporting our arrival. That means we must strike before the United Federation can try to jam our area. We'll attack the city to get them distracted. Grief's forces were supposed to be here an hour ago and yet I don't see them. I'll just have to make room for their arrival" Scylla said as she cuffed her fists and smirked.

"If you say so..." Monica simply replied with a slight hint of incredulous in her tone.

Back at the Wallet Mart, Cyrene had eventually recalled what she was to purchase for her mother. She needed a gallon of milk and some cooking oil. She had gotten these items and went to the cashier, unfortunately for her, however. There was a very long line at pretty much all the scanners. Thus, she let out a groan as she stepped in the least backed up group of people to pay for her wares.

In front of Cyrene were some Mobian dogs, to which she couldn't help but contemplate that some of them were cute as she stared down at them. The one in front of her was about a few inches shorter than her, but this was natural for some species of Mobian as she waited in line. What wasn't natural was how long this line was taking. Now granted she only had a few items and people in front of her had way more purchases, it still was seemingly taking forever in her mind as only within what she counted as five minutes would each person move up as would herself.
