The Beginning

"Excuse me, are you lost?" Jaded looked up just in time to stop herself from walking into someone. A tall figure in glasses and some sort of white coat placed a bracing hand on the vixen's shoulder. "Easy there. Where are you going in such a hurry?" The fox girl blushed a little and offered him a yellow slip.

"I just got here this morning" she explained. "I guess I need some sort of physical exam before they'll let me enroll. Could you help me?" The figure motioned for her to step inside the office behind him as he glanced down at the slip. There was a stethescope around his neck, and he appeared to be human. How strange! Jaded thought. She'd never seen one before, other than in books and on television.

"Ah yes, you're in the right place. Sit down, Miss-- Jaded? That's an unusual name." The young woman nodded as she sat on a stool. The plastic seat was cold against her thighs. "I am the resisdent doctor here at the University," the human continued, "Give me a moment to read through your file, and then we'll begin."

The vixen glanced around the room while she waited. She had expected lots of paperwork when she enrolled, but not a physical. The thought made her nevous and her paws shook a little in her lap. The office was scrupulously clean and painted a gentle yellow color. Various awards and documents of certification were framed and hung on the walls, and a window let in the early morning sunshine. The doctor was seated at a desk in one corner, making notes on a clipboard as he read.

He's handsome, she thought to herself. He had no fur except the brown hair on his head, and his skin was a peachy colour. It was all very odd.

"Just clearing up some details here," the doctor said after a moment. "You are twenty one years old, date of birth September 24th, blood type O+, eyes green, hair brown, fur white and black, allergies none?" Jaded nodded, fiddling with the hem of her shirt.

She couldn't help but feel awkward when a prefect stranger had that much information on her. The human closed her file and stood, pulling the stethescope from his neck as he patted the padded examination table. "Hop up, ma'am. I'm not going to hurt you. This is all routine."

The vixen bit her lip as she stood and seated herself on the table. The paper crackled as she pushed herself back and gave the doctor the smallest of smiles.

"Can I ask you as question?"

"Why am I here?" The doc smiled at her surprise and warmed the cold stethescope with a puff of breath. He carefully pessed metal circle against the vixen's rib cage and listened intently for a moment. She jumped a little at his touch. "That's what you were going to ask, isn't it? Never seen a human before? I'm not surprised. I practice here because it's my job to make sure you students get in healthy and happy, and that's all the reason I need."

Jaded gasped when he reached around and pressed the circle of metal to her back, smoothing the fabric of her shirt down as he did so.

"Please relax. I just need to check your lungs. Breathe in... and out. In...and out. Good. Your heart is pounding!"

"Don't we freak you out?" the vixen blurted while the doc jotted something down. She immediately covered her mouth with a paw, and frowned when he laughed.

"No, furries don't freak me out. Some of my best friends are furry and a job's a job. Lift your shirt please."

"What?!"

"Kindly stop treating me like a sexual devient! I need to examine your stomach, so, if you would just lift the fabric." The fox girl was plainly nervous, her long curled tail was flicking back and fourth, much like a cat. She slipped the cloth upward slowly, and chomped her teeth together to keep herself from making noise as his hands gently ran over her stomach. It was smooth and flat while her hips were softer and rounded. She wasn't starved nor was she overweight and with a high narrow waist and rounded breasts, most guys simply said her body "hit like a truck".

Even so, the doctor remained professional as his hands gently felt her abdomen and her ribs. She shrieked suddenly as he brushed her sides and that seemed to break the ice.

"So what are you here to study, Jaded?" The doctor peered into one ear with his instrument, then the other ear.

"I want to be a writer," the vixen admitted quietly, toying with a lock of hair. "I want to go into journalism maybe, or just write short stories. Either way, I want to write for a living."

"You strike me as an intellegent young woman, and I'm sure you'll study hard." The doctor smiled and picked up his clipboard once more, finishing it with a flourish. "Just take this to the main office and they'll hand over your schedule." The doctor handed her the form and held out his hand to shake. Jaded shook it, his flesh feeling interesting against her fur.

"Good luck, Miss Fox. And welcome to the University."
