#100 of Iron Dragon

Just passing the three quarter mark; seven cars were out and two were dozens of laps down. They were limping around the track, but determined to finish at the very least. Some wished they would just pull onto pit road and call it a day; Alice and Sidney admired their competitive spirit. Neither could fault the two drivers for wanting to finish the race even laps down.

The only reason the Amazons did not complain is both cars stayed out of the way, and deep down they did respect the fact the two drivers wanted to finish. An honorable loss is better than an empty victory. Anastasia held the lead once again, and was enjoying this race much more than the Salak race. Mainly because the Velopians had an atmosphere closer to her home world, so that made for just an overall better experience.

Edam tried to explain some of the more technical aspects of the racing to Tera, who just nodded and smiled cutely. "Are you following any of what I said?"

"Not in the slightest, I'm happy just to be here with you." Tera just smiled and leaned against Edam putting her head on Edam's shoulder.

Edam sighed and leaned her head against Terra's. "Have you finished your juice?"

Tera reached down and handed her cup to Edam, knowing that Edam had finished hers a while ago. "You're a pricklypiple."

"I am rooting for Lorain; the home team has to win one of these right?"

"I would think so." Edam wondered if the other races had boat racing. But shipping a boat might be harder than shipping a car. "It's a pity the next race is on the driest world out there it seems."

Tera giggled and smooched Edam's cheek. "I knew that was what you were thinking about."

"So what are you thinking about?" Edam returned the cheek smooch.

"How right this feels being with you and how upset my parents likely are about my attire and song choice..." Tera paused and pulled away. "And now how badly I have to use the bathroom."

Dmitri paid his tablet more attention than the race or his uncle; who was still business casual and sporting a giant red foam finger with Alice's name on it. He couldn't fault his uncle, as his father spent a fortune on maintaining thoroughbred race horses. Business had gone well, and the Velopians were pleasant to deal with; even with some of the complications that arose from biological differences. Of all the species he had met thus far, he was beginning to enjoy working with the Velopians. Their culture was closest to his own unlike the warrior cultures; braggarts and stubborn about everything.

A glance up from his reading and his brows furrowed slightly as the cars roared past; with the Amazons still leading. Dealing with them was an unpleasant chore; they were arrogant and not even shy about their self proclaimed superiority. Pleasant to the eyes, and that was all. No, the Velopians were the best to deal with; they were calm, smart and interested in a fair deal for all parties involved.

Marko would now admit he was swept up in Alice's fame more than he had thought he would be. This was something he hoped he could continue to support for as long as the humble little road demon wanted to keep going. As Alice was hounding the giant Amazon endlessly every lap, corners were taken a little wider, bumpers lightly touched.

At least at the races, Tabatha couldn't bug him endlessly with things that could actually wait; not that she did not try to get him to look at or reply to things. Marko was glad that her relationship with Cirrus had gotten her to loosen up a bit. She could relax a little and was a little more open with herself than she had been.

Pit stops shuffled up most of the cars and Carly ended up first. Carly hoped this was the last stop of the day and that she could keep those behind her, behind her and that was a tall order. Because the drivers behind her had all been in the lead and included a seven foot tall warrior, a long legged deer, a quick lizard and a demon disguised as a mouse. Alice might have been back in fifth, but Carly still caught glimpses of that red Viper in her mirrors.

Tera had made it back to her seat with only a few laps left to go, the lines at the bathrooms were quite long. Lorain had just taken the lead once again, the mouse was three cars back, but that didn't seem to matter to the mouse as other events had gone. The lines were gone now that it was announced they were coming up on the final lap.

People for the most part politely shoved their way back to their seats or a good spot to watch the last lap from. The home planet girl had the lead with an Amazon and a mouse close on her hooves. There was no one sitting in a seat as the cars screamed and howled their way to the finish line. Lorain couldn't look in her mirrors any more as she jammed the car into a higher gear, both of her hearts pounding as she willed the car to pull out of the corners faster.

Anastasia wasn't sure there was any space between her bumper and Lorain's as she just wanted to beat Alice, that snake was close enough she could hear it's turbo chargers over her own engine. As they rounded the last corner, she heard Alice lay into the power before she did.

"Come on, come on, come on." Lorain muttered thru tightly grit teeth as she slammed the car up thru the gears. The two cars behind her screamed at her as they tried to pull past. 'Three wide' she heard over her radio, so damn close.

Alice had used a low pressure zone to Anastasia's left to sling shot up and wide, she wanted a drag race and the Viper roared as she rowed it up. The hanger and the finish line were so tantalizingly close.

As the cars entered the hanger still three wide the red snake let loose a boom that caused people to duck or flinch. Alice didn't need the boost gauge's needle to tell her she blew an intercooler boot, the power loss and the boost pressure being blown out an open hole told her that much. Carly had been right behind her and had ran up into her. "Oof... Well dang, that sucks."

Carly was drafting Alice and had no place to go as the Viper suddenly quit accelerating, she managed to keep from rear ending Alice too hard. Which meant she pushed Alice into third and she ended up fourth. "Fuck!"

"Lorain, you beat her, you beat Alice!" Lorain heard being shouted over her radio.

Thankfully everyone behind them managed to avoid colliding with Carly and Alice as the two of them hugged the wall as they pulled to the end of the pit lane to get out of the way. Race officials and some emergency personnel ran over to check on Alice and Carly, as they both got out of the cars.

"What happened, you were pulling hard and then you weren't." Carly asked as she walked over to Alice. Though was a bit distracted by a rather handsome male Velopian who had asked if she was injured. "No, I'm okay."

Alice stretched and let the other responder know she was also uninjured. "Blew one of the intake boots out or off. No boost, no go fast."

Carly chuckled. "I suppose your luck couldn't hold out forever. Plus I am sure the Velopians are thrilled their driver finally beat you."

"I'm more bummed you got stuck behind me, you could have had third."

"Always the next one. Plus I think I actually lead more laps than you." Carly smiled and gave Alice a hug.

The two of them turned and waved to the crowd to let them know they were okay. Alice followed one of the track officials over to the podium area, and told him how much she enjoyed the race and visiting his home planet. When the people and the event itself is so enjoyable, Alice wasn't too worried or upset by the outcome.

Tera was actually a bit nervous as she had been asked to hand wreaths to the three drivers, Alice thought it was cute. Even with the different pedestal heights they stood on, Anastasia was much taller than the other two and Terra. The tall Amazon was pleased with her performance this event, as her only goal was to finish before Alice.

The Velopians were polite even in celebrating Lorain's victory, but that did not mean the celebration ended early, far from it. As many of the other species had retired to bed long before the Velopians did, even Tera managed to stay up rather late compared to her normal schedule. The twins, Roslyn and Nodrog managed to keep the humans in the celebration longer than any of the others had. While Nodrog had a good time, he mainly had stayed to keep an eye on the twins, he didn't want them getting lost. Roslyn wasn't much for parting, but she liked talking with Dallarth and Mianth and being with Tera.

Tera with Edam's help did mingle, though at the end she really only wanted to be with Roslyn and Edam. Edam carried a tired Tera on her back. "I'm surprised you managed to stay up so late."

"I am as well; there was just so much excitement. I am so happy for Lorain."

"That makes two of us; it was nice for her to finally win one of these." Edam was also glad they would be heading back to the hotel. "You know that song kicked all of the butt, and you make an adorable little punk rocker. I'm glad you listened to your drummer and I to perform it."

Tera giggled. "For a race, I think it was the only song I could perform that would get people more excited."

"Of that I have little doubt."

Nodrog and Roslyn had made sure the twins made it safely back to the building all of them were staying in. Jenny and Harley were staying with Alice, the three of them having gone to sleep more than two hours earlier. Nodrog was looking forward to spending a little more time with Tera and Edam, the little singer's cheer and happiness was nearly infectious. She had also thought ahead and had a couple copies of her new album with Full Throttle on it so Roslyn could give one to Alice and anyone else who wanted one.

Edam and Roslyn found they had tons of things in common, as well as adored the same things about Tera. Nodrog was a little surprised Tera had confessed to her and Roslyn being intimate with Roslyn to Edam. An embarrassing conversation that Edam had also found adorable, and lead to Edam confessing she was a little more jealous of Tera than Roslyn. Something Roslyn was still having difficulty coming to terms with, how many women found her someone they wanted to be intimate with.

Nodrog and Tera talked music while Edam and Roslyn talked about sports and speed. Tera was branching out a little with her musical repertoire, Full Throttle was not the only rock song on the album, there were two others and a pop song. She was also learning to play the acoustic guitar so she could eventually learn electric. The thought of Tera in a ill fitting black T-shirt with an electric guitar made Roslyn giggle.

Alice and Jenny had taken their daughter out to ride some of the tamer rides and play a few games. Sherman and Samantha decided Victoria could tag along since Jenny could watch both girls and the group of six had a wonderful time. Even Marko joined them for a few things and both little girls seemed to love the giant bear. Seeing the giant CEO of the company they work for make funny faces with the two children was quite amusing. Dmitri was surprised by how well his uncle handled children, since he had never had his own.

Nodrog had teleported Roslyn and himself to the capital for their dinner meeting with Mianth and Tunrog. Tunrog looked handsome in cargo pants and a partly tucked in button work shirt, Mianth was simply adorable in her midriff baring turquoise spaghetti strap top and matching turquoise skirt. The restaurant was an Elf ran establishment right on the river and had a large fresh water fish selection. Not quite a tie required, stiff dress code, but still rather fancy compared to the other places they had been.

Roslyn could read the menu rather easy, but the descriptions did not do much to tell her what the dish would be like; not knowing what the local vegetables or meats tasted like was the main problem. She eventually decided on spicy frog legs and the Velopian equivalent to onion rings.

"So how did Alice take here first loss?" Mianth asked as they enjoyed the evening air out on the veranda. She even indulged a little with a pricklypiple cocktail.

"Alice is graceful and humble even in defeat. She was more upset about being in Carly's way, than losing." Nodrog was still a little surprised by how well know Mianth was in the city, as many Velopians waved to her and said hello.

Roslyn had a bit stiffer drink for dinner. "It's funny, but I think Alice was genuinely excited someone beat her. And I know she found the entire experience wonderful. And I can't believe how cute Tera was, that song was so unexpected."

"It was quite the surprise; I didn't know she could be a little rebel." Tunrog mussed aloud and caught a glare glanced his way from Mianth. "Don't give me that, you said it first."

Mianth blushed a little. "Okay I did say she was an adorable punk."

"You look cute as well; I've never seen you not well dressed. Even your uniform is cute." Roslyn smiled before sipping her drink.

"Thank you." Mianth blushed a little more. "I hate to sound rude, but do you always dress so... conservatively? I'm a bit of a prude, but it's not like you have a figure one would hide."

Nodrog laughed at Roslyn's own embarrassment. "Funny, Mianth is not the only to have asked her that." He pulled out his phone and found one of the pictures of Roslyn in the lovely green dress, he handed it to Mianth first. "She gets a little shy if she dresses up to much."

"Wow, you look so beautiful, and I love your dress. Where did you get it?" Mianth was surprised by how well the dress revealed and complemented Roslyn's figure.

Roslyn turned red and only more so after seeing Nodrog smile. "Jenny bought it for me, so I don't know where she purchased the dress."

Nodrog accepted his phone back from Mianth. "Jenny had it made by the same woman who had made all the dresses for their wedding. Amber is a talented seamstress."

Tunrog could see the gears turning in Mianth's head. "I am sure if you asked Jenny; the kitten would be more than thrilled to show you where Amber's store is. You haven't bought yourself anything nice in a long time."

"You showed me some of those pictures, they looked so pretty... I think I will have to ask her next time I am on earth, and maybe take her up on her invitation to dinner." Mianth smiled.

"Jenny loves that kind of thing, and I know she has hoped you would be able to drop by for something besides work." Nodrog turned as the waiter brought out their food. There were many earth elementals on the Velopian world, and a few places catered to those like him. Gems that were damaged when trying to make magic items were generally tossed aside. While flawed for magic use, they did still taste delightful.
