"Euchre?" Called out a young female Keidran as she walked in the field close to her home, searching for her cousin who was probably out. All you could see in the winter time was mostly snow for miles; well most of the time. Around the field where her home was, a fence lined the area to show what land belonged to them, some trees scattered about here and there. The young female played with her red hair that was braided and tied at the end with a green bow with both hand paws. She looked around and wandered some more until she spotted someone sitting against a log on the ground near a fully branched out evergreen tree.

_There he is....._She thought and made her way quickly, but quietly as well through the snow. Her paws were beginning to freeze standing in the snow for so long. As she made her way closer toward her cousin, the female crawled closer to the ground like a tiger sneaking up on its prey, ready to surprise him until he shut his book to respond to her sloppy stealthiness.

"Hello Roselyn." That did it for her, sighing in frustration and getting up to sit beside her cousin as she pulled her dress and tail underneath. "Thought you could sneak up on me this time?"

"How did you know?"

"Your scent is too familiar. That and I heard you calling." He put the book down and laid it in his lap, patting her head with his hand paw before giving her ears a scratch. Roselyn's tail swayed back and forth a little in the snow, trying to settle it due to her frustration. She couldn't stay mad at her cousin Euchre very long. "If you wanted to surprise me you wouldn't have made any noise."

"I know. Anyway what were you reading there? Were you studying up on magic again?" She tried to peer over onto the book but he flipped it over on the opposite side so she couldn't see the title of it. Euchre really didn't want Rose to see that book just yet. "A bit yes. Maybe one day you could learn advanced magic but right now probably best you were a beginner."

Roselyn knew he could have been hiding something with that book but when he mentioned her being a beginner her ears perked up. She always wanted to try to learn magic but without the use of a mana crystal she couldn't really do it all on her own. She shifted in the snow, facing Euchre and tail thumping up and down to express her behavior, "Do you think you can show me now, cuz? Pleeeeeeaaase?"

He stood up and made sure to think of something easy she could possibly try out, something not so difficult but at the same time challenging. "Okay we can try something. I think you could be ready for something simple as a disguise spell. Though you might need this to help you out the first time." Euchre handed Roselyn a mana crystal, tied on a bracelet that she could wear around her wrist and keeping one for himself for demonstration. She slipped it on and made sure it was secured, not too tight but enough so it wouldn't fall off. "Now the thing you need to remember is visualization and proper spell incantations are the key. One mess up can lead to a mistake. Now watch."

Euchre began an incantation of the spell he was starting, concentrating on for a moment until he finally started to take shape of an actual human right before Roselyn's eyes. Not long after finishing the spell he finally stopped shapeshifting so much to look like an actual human with green eyes and silver hair. He looked young, almost as if his age decreased by twenty years or so.

She was awed by how well he had the spell down to every single detail. Euchre looked like an actual, real human. "Wow....~" Rose's green eyes went as wide as dinner plates, moving around her cousin and looked him over. Her small fingers poked his face gently and ears perked up when she felt how it felt compared to a Keidran. "How do I do this? I mean....this looks a little advanced..."

"That's where you take time to practice. You aren't always going to get it right the first time, Rose. It took me a long time to get this right and it will take just the exact amount of time for you." He explained to the young wolf, getting a funny but awful idea. "Okay, here's an idea. I will let you try this but you have to listen carefully. You will also need to concentrate and chant the correct spell."

"I promise I will do it right." Her tail wagged furiously and jumped up a little in excitement, Euchre holding a hand up to calm his cousin down. The older wolf went up to whisper the incantation in her ear, Rose listening very carefully and hoping she wouldn't mess up. "Okay I think I got it."

"Now remember: concentrate and enunciate the incantation properly."

Roselyn closed her eyes, chanting the spell and activating the mana crystal on her bracelet. She could feel her body shift and change, noticeably with less fur and weight. "That's strange....I feel so weird. I still feel like I have a...." She definitely could still feel a tail behind her and still fur on her body. What went wrong?! Euchre started to snicker which erupted into laughter, which left Rose a little peeved. "What's so funny, cuz?! Don't you know it's rude to laugh?!"

"You should see what you did.~" He answered and led her in the direction of the iced over pond close by, revealing that she not only didn't turn into a human but into a Basitin. Rose screamed out in protest, horrified by her appearance and turned to Euchre as if to get an answer from him. "What the masks were you trying to pull on me?!"

This only made him laugh harder, trying to get control before he changed back into a wolf. The prank worked for sure and he knew she would lose her mind over it. "I told you to listen carefully to the spell I recited. Apparently you didn't listen close enough. I tricked you into thinking it was a human transformation spell but it really just turned you into a Basitin."

She saw nothing funny in this matter and felt awkward just standing there with longer ears, a sleek tail, and small button nose. Rose was furious. "Rrrrr......Euchre give me the spell to change me back right now! This is cruel and embarrassing!"

"You can't.~"

"What do you mean I can't?! Give me the spell to change me back or I'll get mom on you....."

"That's just it. You can't change back. You see Basitins can't use magic and therefore magic is useless to you until that spell wears off. That's what you get for stealing my clothes like a little brat." Just as her face dropped in disbelief and even more frustration, Euchre ran off in the direction of their home to leave her behind in her frustration. Shortly after Roselyn chased after him, feeling the need to cover herself even with clothes on.

"Cuz! Please don't tell mom! C'mon! Please change me back!"
