Anomaly is the most dangerous villain in the Defense Council universe so far. Thanks to Spelunker Sal for absolutely nailing my ideas for this monstrosity and his tiger pet!

The following information has been designated level ten classification and should be considered Top Secret. This individual is extremely dangerous. An investigation into the abilities and origins of this individual is ongoing.

Known History: Alexander Dreyfus was born to Thomas and Selima Dreyfus in the upper-class township of Kingston prior to United City's unification. His family has been very generous in their financial and social support of the Defense Council since its inception. Thomas Dreyfus is the founder of Northsci Incorporated, the research & development firm used by the Defense Council to create defense measures against super-powered individuals.

Because of his family's wealth and status, Alexander Dreyfus led a somewhat charmed life in his youth. He attended various private institutions for schooling and had an otherwise unremarkable childhood, however, according to Thomas, his son began to rebel at age seventeen. Alexander would often stay out late at night with no explanation to his parents. Selima Dreyfus admits that they should have paid more attention to their son's activity and behavior, but both she and Thomas were wrapped up in their research at the time.

Alexander moved out of his parents' estate at age nineteen and rented a small apartment of his own in downtown United City. At age twenty-five, he met David Cooper (AKA "Stampede") backstage at an Iron Winter concert. The two were romantically involved for only one year, but in that time, Alexander learned of Cooper's vigilante activities and took great interest in Polywave Science Laboratory, which Cooper had been targeting.

(Speculation: It is possible that Alexander envied David Cooper's vigilante talents and followed Cooper to Polywave Labs in order to help him.)

After Cooper raided Polywave Science Laboratory and the building exploded, Alexander Dreyfus vanished for a time. Defense Council intelligence reported that Polywave Labs had been conducting various experiments, which included sonic and subatomic elements. Some of the damaged reports collected after the explosion revealed a diary of sorts written by Polywave's head researcher, Sophia Renault. The entries in the diary became more and more unhinged as time went on, until the last entry, written a day before the explosion, in which Renault claimed to be "chosen by him" and promised that "the gate shall be opened."

Recent sightings of Alexander have revealed that he is not the same person that followed Cooper into Polywave Labs. His personality has been altered so significantly that his own parents barely recognize him. No Defenders have been sent to confront him as yet because the Defense Council analysis staff advises that confronting Dreyfus before knowing the full extent of his abilities would be extremely dangerous.

Alexander Dreyfus has been dubbed "Anomaly" by Defense Council research staff due to the abilities he seems to possess and his unusual behavior. They speculate that it was Dreyfus who helped Mire to escape, but have no proof to substantiate this assumption other than the mental manipulation abilities that Anomaly appears to possess. Anomaly's and Mire's current whereabouts are unknown.

Ability Details: The following remarks should not be taken as an official analysis of Anomaly's abilities. The analysis staff has only been able to study Anomaly's powers through security footage, police body camera footage, and civilian cell phone video recordings.

Anomaly has the ability to move objects without touching them. It is unclear whether or not weight is a factor in the amount that he can move, though he has been able to laterally shift a garbage truck several meters as well as lift and throw multiple police cruisers with no visible difficulty whatsoever. It stands to reason that he could also move people with this ability, though that has yet to be captured on video.

Anomaly also appears to be able to teleport short distances and to avoid incoming attacks without seeing them. Speculation leads analysis staff to assume that he either possesses heightened senses or minor clairvoyant abilities.

Further, Anomaly has the ability to mentally influence others beyond simple suggestion or verbal manipulation. Video footage of a bank robbery shows Anomaly seeming to take direct mental control of the branch manager of the bank in order to gain access to the safe. After the safe was opened, the branch manager was left in a catatonic state and has yet to recover. A similar phenomenon was observed during Mire's escape from redacted. (See Addendum M-1A for details)

During the same robbery footage, Anomaly's true nature was revealed. When police arrived, Anomaly attacked them with their own vehicles, resulting in the deaths of four officers. In this moment, and in the moments after when police opened fire on Anomaly, slowing the video footage revealed that an entity briefly left Alexander's body to physically shield him from harm and to "pull" him out of harm's way via teleportation. This entity takes the form of a red-eyed, humanoid, grey/blue mist-like shape which at first appeared behind Alexander or emerged out of his back in between his shoulder blades.

Analysis staff can only speculate as to the origins of this second entity however, the current theory is that this entity is the one referred to in Sophie Renault's diary. The Defense Council is currently searching for Ms. Renault with the hope that she will be able to provide more solid information. At this time, "Anomaly" refers to the entity possessing Alexander Dreyfus only, and Northsci Incorporated is currently researching a method to drive it out of Alexander permanently.

For the above reasons, Anomaly has been designated Threat Level, Black.
