Chapter two: 'Boredom'
Tachis leaned back on his chair, his tail and short wings keeping him in balance. He was sitting in a huge room completely with tools and repairing equipment. Heavy metal was playing loudly, echoing around the room. Some furs including Tachis where absentmindedly nodding their heads on the beat of the music. Most furs where walking around with clipboards checking if everything was in place. And cataloguing every piece of equipment in the room. Since the ship was tested and launched a month ago, the crew of technicians under command of Tachis have been doing this same boring stuff every week. Tachis sighed, this ship was as new as you could get it. Freshly build and tested by the most advanced computer and robotics systems, there was nothing to fix or even maintain on this ship. Tachis heard a door opening and opened his eyes, Faukx entered the room, closely followed by Misha. "Inspection!" Tachis yelled. Some of the furs looked to the door, some that were close to the door saluted, furs in the back did not even hear Tachis because of the music. Tachis gave a quick and bored salute to them. "At ease, you know this is just a routine" Faukx said. Misha did not look so relaxed as Faukx, she took these routines very serious. "Say Misha, why don't you wait for me at our next stop. I'll talk to Tachis." Faukx said, turning his head to look at her. Misha nodded and walked out the door. Faukx took off his official coat and hung it on a piece of pipe that protruded from the wall. Tachis nodded to one of the chairs, Faukx picked it up and sat down in front of his friend. "You know what? This routine is boring the shit out of me. We haven't done anything useful since we boarded this ship" Tachis said, Faukx nodded. "I'm not getting any happier of these routines, but they have to be done. " Faukx grimaced and continued. "And it will be getting worse, they are sending another official officer to see how where doing. And this guy does not return when we are departing, he will stay on this ship and..." "NO WAY! What the hell are they thinking?" Tachis yelled before Faukx could say anymore. Some heads looked up or poked from behind a pile of materials. "Well...we did sort of destroy that lousy capital ship in the last big space battle...it made a great bomb though, my compliments to you and your crew of course." Faukx said and empathised the last sentence with a grin on his face. Tachis laughed and so did his crew, some gave Faukx thumbs-up. Faukx returned this with a big grin. "Hell of an explosion it was! It lay ruin to half the enemy fleet!" Duncan said, he was part of Tachis his engineering team. "So until you want to use this ship for the same purpose, you know where to find us, memorising everything in this room." This got some more laughter. "Well, that won't be happening whilst that fleet official is still on board." Tachis said smiling. "I 'could' tell you where his quarters are, some localized malfunctions are 'bound' to happen someday... pity if it would happen there." Faukx said with a grin and a wink. "Hmmm, it looks like we won't be bored after all" Tachis said rubbing his chin. Faukx stood up and grabbed his coat and put it on. "Well, I wish you all the best of luck. Tachis will be receiving a message from me about the report as per routine including some 'classified' information for his eye's only" he said with a fake official voice as he walked to the door. "Oh, and we did not have this 'conversation' about you know what." He winked to Tachis and his crew. "Of course not Sir! I will look forward to your report sir!" Tachis said while he snapped to attention and saluted, his crew mimicked him, some of them trying to suppress some muffled laughter's, grins and chuckles. "Carry on then." Faukx said as he walked through the door and disappeared. Tachis and his crew where all laughing now. "Well boy's and girl's, you heard the man. Well be having something 'useful' to do soon." Tachis said. And with that everyone continued their job a bit less bored.
