After School Special: Chapter 01 - Bad Luck

"But Miss Reddick... please? I love this team, I want to stay a part of it," Kyle begged as his swim coach closed her office door and sighed heavily.

"I'm sorry Kyle, you're commitment to this team isn't up for debate, the rules are as they are. For a reason," the thirty year old otter replied, frowning at her student.

Kyle sat heavily in one of the two chairs that sat before her small desk. She sat down in the one adjacent instead of her own and placed a hand reassuringly on the dragon's knee.

"I... I'm sorry. Please give me another chance I could try to make excuses but.. I... I'm just sorry," he looked nearly on the verge of tears, his orange eyes wide and moist, a stark contrast to his pale green scales and black whiskers and horns.

"I found this in your locker. even if it wasn't yours you still had it in your possession and the school has clear rules about drugs," she held a small baggie of marijuana in her left hand.

Kyle had agreed to let his best friend Joey stash his pot in his locker, since Joey had been caught once before and was often randomly searched since he'd been on probation. He'd smoked with his friend on one occasion and wasn't impressed, but Joey was his friend and while they had different views they were as close as brothers. He wasn't about to rat out his friend, and whether he did anyway seemed to be a moot point. It was such a random freak chance that his coach had seen the baggie when she came into the boys locker room for whatever reason. He looked up at the slight, brown furred otter pleadingly. She looked at him with sadness and sympathy, they were close and she had always taken great pride in her best swimmer.

"Please Miss Reddick, I'll do anything, please just let this go," he begged. "Throw it away, get rid of it. I don't use it and don't like it and was..." he stopped himself before he gave away his friends involvement.

"I believe you Kyle, I really do. But.. I can't. If someone found out I let this slide I'd lose my job and possibly worse."

"I swear I won't tell a soul. Only one other person knew it was there and I... I can lie to them, tell them I smoked it or sold it or lost it."

The hazel-eyed otter sighed and remained quiet for what seemed like an hour, then finally spoke.

"Kyle... you're my best swimmer. Swear to me you don't use this? Tell me it wasn't yours and you'll never do something as stupid as hold onto anything like this for a friend again?"

"Yes, I swear it," Kyle saw a glimmer of resignation in her pretty hazel eyes.

"Then you can work for me after school for a few weeks, cleaning up the pool and locker rooms. I'll say you were caught stealing toilet paper or peeking into the girls locker room,." she cracked a smile at the last part, as he'd just done that very same thing the week before. Something she herself couldn't blame him for as she had done so herself on occasion.

Kyle smiled at the mention of his last cause for detention and leaned forward to hug her. She hugged him and patted his back.

"Don't you dare disappoint me again. I know you're a good kid otherwise I'd have never taken this risk for you. Also you are my best swimmer, not just physically but in here," she tapped his chest and stood up.

"Thank you, I won't let you down," Kyle stood and walked toward the door.

"Tomorrow afternoon you'll be here and ready to work your ass off."

'Yes ma'am," he said then told her good bye and left to catch a ride home.

Hazel Reddick shook her head and sighed, opening her desk drawer and tucking the bag of ganja away in the back corner. She felt like a hypocrite to actually punish kids for smoking the stuff. Hell in college she'd grown her own in her dorm closet. She hadn't done pot in years and didn't intend to again, she'd get rid of the baggie or pass it off to her neighbor who had a small setup in his shed. The petite otter grabbed her purse and gym bag and headed off in the direction of the girls locker room for a shower. She usually showered at work after a long day and found it relaxing, it reminded her of her own years on the same swim team she now coached.

Kyle caught a ride with a friend of a friend and acted as best he could like nothing had happened all through dinner with his folks and little sister. He did his homework and went straight to bed, tired and mentally drained from his afternoon. It took quite a while for him to finally sleep.

The next school day went as usually until lunch rolled around. Kyle was sitting at his usual table with his odd assortment of friends, mostly fringe types and a few geeks. Joey sat down next to him and whispered in his ear, the sixteen year old Bichon leaning in close over their trays. "Hey, can you give me the 'rock' after school." He said, using the lame codeword for pot he'd given Kyle at the same time as the baggie.

"Uh about that..." Kyle began but the dog cut him off.

"You didn't... dammit Ky," he growled softly and busied himself with starting in on his Salisbury steak.

"Let's talk about it later, come over to my place tonight about seven. I have to stay after school," Kyle said, slowly raising his voice back to normal level and acting as if nothing was out of the ordinary, though the Beaver across the table was eyeing them oddly. Dan was cool but Kyle still wanted to keep this between Joey and himself.

"What did you do now?" Joey asked, a slight edge of frustration in his voice.

"I uh... I was trying to spy on Leslie Rabine again.." he lied.

"Hah! Yeah..." Joey glanced across the cafeteria to the pale blond collie sitting at a table with half a dozen other attractive girls. "Who wouldn't, hell I bet her friends even stare."

Kyle laughed and they didn't speak again during lunch.

The rest of the day passed uneventfully and after the last class Kyle went off on his own to the gym for his first day of slavery. He entered and found Miss Reddick in her office going through a sheaf of paperwork and rubbing at a temple idly. "Good afternoon Kyle, you're right on time," she said not looking up.

"Hey Miss Reddick," he entered and stood by the door, waiting for her to tell him what to do. He didn't have to wait long.

"The bleachers in the gym are jammed and apparently no one wants to fix them. So I'll need you to try and get them pushed back up and also pick up any equipment left lying around and put it in the proper place in the equipment room. Got it?"

"Uh, yeah I know where most of it goes and I help Harry fix the bleachers that one time after the basketball game last year."

"Good, if you have any questions just come find me, I'll be around here somewhere until six."

Kyle nodded and left to start earning his reprieve. It didn't look to be as bad as he had worried, though he figured she'd find something else for him if he finished this first set of tasks before she left.

The bleachers were harder than he imagined on his own so he went about picking up all the equipment and discarded items from the gym and surrounding rooms. He didn't want to drag his feet but figured if he did a great job and picked up trash and anything else out of place she might cut his time in half or at least not give him anything else tonight. He finished most of the obvious places and started checking the locker rooms, he was wary of entering the girls room so he started with the boys.

He exited the boys room empty-handed and slowly approached the girls locker room. He peeked in and saw no one immediately inside and felt a bit less nervous. He'd peeked in the one window and around the corner a few times, but had yet to enter quite as far as he was now. He passed the first row of lockers and could hear the showers running. He quickly backpedaled and started to head back out the way he'd came. He made it two steps before stopping and quietly sneaking down the first row to the corner by the showers. The risk of getting caught barely registered. He was curious as to who was in the showers and more so was interested in sneaking a peek, it wasn't often he'd get a chance to do so with such a small risk of being caught. He swallowed a lump in his throat and peered around the edge of the wall.

Miss Reddick poured a small amount of shampoo into her paw and lathered it into her head and neck fur. She massaged her scalp and arched her back under the almost scalding hot spray of the shower head. She'd turned on half of them, fully hot so it would get steamy, she loved the steam. Working her way down over her chest she grabbed the bottle again and applied a bit to her perky cream furred breasts. As she worked it in she thought she heard something behind her. She turned quickly but saw nothing and turned back to her shower. After a moment she heard a loud clang and crash and quickly grabbed her towel and went to investigate.

Kyle tripped over a bench and went sprawling against an open locker, causing the door to slam shut with a loud metallic crash. He quickly recovered and bolted from the girls locker rooms and into the boys where he dove into the janitors closet and hid. Soon he heard soft footfalls outside the door and held his breath. An agonizingly long minute followed and he heard no more. He exhaled with in a long sigh and started to stand as the doorknob turned. "Kyle?" Miss Reddick said curiously as she opened the door. "What on earth are you doing in here?"

"I uh... I was looking for a mop I spilled.. something. In the hall," he lied horribly.

"Uh huh... were you just in the girls locker room?"

"Um, no. Why would I be in there?" he asked, trying to casually rub the back of his head.

"Well no one else is here and someone knocked over a bench and slammed a locker door," she asked, squinting quizzically.

"I uh... yes I was in there," he admitted, "I was just looking to see if there was anything I needed to pick up."

"Did you happen to look in the showers?" she asked after a moment.

"Um... maybe," Kyle was beginning to feel uncomfortable and scared.

"Did you happen to see anything in there."

Kyle hung his head and mumbled something unintelligible.

"What was that?"

"I didn't mean to... I saw you taking a... a shower," he confessed.

He waited for her to yell or hit him or even worse frown and look disappointed. She did none of these, she stood looking at him, squinting, for what seemed like forever then her face softened into a grin. "Well jeez Kyle, don't scare me like that," she laughed, "I was worried you were a pervert or something."

"You aren't mad at me?" he asked, astonished and relieved.

"No, you didn't know I was in there and I did tell you to clean up. Besides you told me the truth," she looked him up and down and then giggled.

Kyle looked down at himself and saw a huge wet spot soaking his crotch area and down his pant leg. His first thought was that he peed himself, but he quickly realized it wasn't that. He saw a bottle of cleaner had tipped over on the shelf next to him and spilled down his pants. "It's floor cleaner," he explained, "I swear!"

The otter laughed and believed him but decided to tease the poor dragon a bit. "Sure it is, it's ok if you got so frightened you wet yourself."

"I did not wet myself, I swear."

"Surrre," she giggled and he tried not to look at her cleavage or legs as he it had just registered that she was wearing only a gym towel. A thin, not quite adequately large gym towel.

"No really, see?" He picked up the cleaner and screwed the cap back on.

She giggled and nodded saying, "I believe you, I'm just giving you a hard time," she glanced down at his jeans and noticed something else this time, a slight bulge in the front. Undoubtedly because of her she thought, after all he had just been spying on her in the shower.

"I'm... I'm sorry I walked.. I yeah..." he apologized, stammering.

"No worries, relax. I'll go finish my shower and if you're done I'll give you a lift home," she smiled and patted his muzzle before turning around, very discreetly tugging the towel a bit higher as she did so, giving him a tantalizing view of her firm butt cheeks and the base of her thick tail from his vantage point of kneeling in the closet. She left and he sat back and sighed, relieved at having dodged the bullet again. He marveled at how he kept getting in so much trouble lately, with so little effort or desire to do so in the first place. At this rate he figured he'd be suspended shortly, his luck had to run out soon.

He finished and met her out by her car and they drove to his place in silence. When she drove up he stepped out of the car and said goodnight. She waved as she drove away. Kyle stood and watched her car until it turned a corner then turned and went inside. He hung his satchel on the coat tree and kicked his shoes off by the door. His father and Joey were in the living room watching television.

"Hello son," the older dragon, "Your mother has dinner on the stove for you."

"Hey dad, ok thanks," Kyle gave Joey a meaningful look and then entered the empty kitchen. He heaped a few large spoonfuls of his mother's cottage pie and went upstairs to his room. Joey was sitting on his bed when he entered, thumbing through an old copy of Game Informer.

Kyle sat down at his desk and started to eat. "So what happened to it," the bichon said, putting down the magazine and leaning back against the headboard.

"Well. Miss Reddick found it," Kyle said, deciding not to beat around the bush.

"WHAT!??" Joey exclaimed and stood up, "Damn it, man. That's... We're toast. Why are you here and not in deep shit with...!"

"Jeez man keep it down," Kyle cut him off and got up to peek into the hallway, "My folks don't know anything."

"But you said you got caught."

"Yeah and I talked Miss Reddick out of reporting it," the dragon explained, "She's got me doing work for her and gave me a warning. She's cool Joey... don't worry."

"Still sucks dude," Joey punched a pillow and exhaled slowly.

"Yeah."

Kyle sat back down at the desk and took another bite. Joey paced and mumbled something before announcing he had to go home for some family thing.

"Well goodnight then..."

"Yeah whatever," Joey left in a huff.

The teenage dragon finished his dinner and worked on some homework before calling it a night. He thought of Miss Reddick's wet fur and tight body as he brushed his teeth. After telling his folks good night he turned in. Sleep came difficult but after pawing off and reading a little he drifted off quietly.
