An update for a new year
Hey folks, sorry I've been away and left all of my story series without ends for the last... five or so years. I hope to solve this problem this year, but time will tell.
I'm going to restart working on Foal (footnotes of a life) first as I have a rough skeleton and now just need to add the actual "meat" of the stories.
Before I do this I think I need to say what Foal was meant to be: Foal was me trying to make the background/history for a game world me and my D&D buddies would play in through a character POV. Through her I was trying to build the world organically, story bit by story bit but unfortunately my D&D group broke up before I finished and I lost interest in my project.
I have a new D&D group, well we're playing with the new pathfinder playtest rules so made I should say new rp group, anyway now that we've been playing again for a bit my mind is coming back to the foal project and I want to start writing for it again, and this time hopefully finish Sarah's story.
Anyhow below is the pre-war history notes I made up for Foal, and recently refound, hope you enjoy themand hope to see you soon with another chapter in the foal universe.
2048 AD First viable Engineered Life Form (ancestors to the augmented) creation announced. The hybrid rat was nicknamed Lola, and was promoted as the "Avatar of a new era" an era free from genetic frailties and diseases.
2054 AD Lola is deemed sexually viable and is bred using artificial insemination of augment genetic material. After weaning her litter is separated and sent off to new research facilities for further experimentation and later breeding.
2057 AD Many strides in this vein of genetic engineering leads to the creation of several other viable species of augmented animals including rabbits, dogs and cats as well as the restoration of endangered or in one case the recent extinction of an animal species.
2062 AD The first wave of augmented animals were released to the "general" public. The augmented dog species were highest in demand as history proved them the most reliable as "helper" animals to the disabled, though many were bought as pets as well by the wealthy or influential.
2064 AD After much deliberation the creation and experimentation of Elfs where deemed ethically immoral by an assembly of the Era's ruling countries. That although they started as mere animals the Elfs now showed intellect, complex emotional ranges and a sense of self identity, and therefore must be treated as any other human would be under the laws that governed the fair and ethical treatment of humanity.
2066 AD All legalized Elf experimentation laboratories had either shut down or had switch to different fields, mostly hospitals specializing in Elf care, of research due to the new, almost prohibitive, laws governing the creation of Elfs.
2090 AD Photographs of "military grade augmented" leaked form secret laboratories in Russia. "Secret" military investigative teams where sent in to discover the truth of the allegations when the Russian government denied sponsorship of the creation of Elf's for military purposes. Later that year Russia couldn't deny the allegations however when an attempt to invade and take down one of the laboratories by the united nations was repelled largely due in part of these same Elfs.
2091 AD Due to Russia's Kodiaks, world leaders were forced to reexamine the effectiveness of the Elfs as BW's.
2096 AD The birth of the first "military grade" Elfs were announced. The primary species of military Elfs were wolves, lions, bats and otters.
2111 AD Many activist groups denounce the "enforced slavery" of the Elfs and are quoted as saying that they should be treated better, have more chances at a "civilians" life.
2135 AD Records, mostly criminal, of individuals with illegal genetic modifications begin showing up. They are considered the first augmented.
2142 AD By this year scientific census show that every major country had a standing Elf military.
2144 AD First line of "safe" civilian genetic modifications offered.
2145 AD Many begin to discriminate against the "augmented" causing a rift in society and stir the beginnings of an augmented segregation movement.
2146 AD A scientific classification of "augmentation" is created going from 0 (Non-augmented humans) to 7 (base or feral animals)
2154 AD After a world renowned celebrity undergoes genetic modification many wealthy began to get modified, Genetic modification becomes a fad.
2155 AD Genetic augmentation become a status symbol, forever crushing the debates for legal segregation of human and augmented.
2175 AD Records at this time show that many nations active military might was mostly composed of Elf troops.
2193 AD A class two lion augmented is born to an non-augmented mother, parental test prove that the father is only a class one augment. All news accounts for the next year show the world falling into chaos as more and more groups rise up, calling for the separation and/or death of the "infected", those augmented with animal genes.
2195 AD As war erupts a division forms between the troops base mostly upon species, human and Elf, the augmented, some of which are born from mixed parentage are forced to choose sides.
2196 AD The Endwar ends in a nuclear holocaust
260 AW the Ahl make preparations for their return, first by taking air samples, then soil to get records of the radiation and compare it to derogation analytics and projections to get a new base line on their eventual return to earth.
274 AW The AHL begin taking fauna samples, recording any mutations that may have occurred during their absence. They also abduct human and Augment individual as well, astonished that either species survived.
275 AW The AHL begin to watch large settlements of Humans and Augmented
338 AW The AHL reclaim the old cities
360 EW Ahl open themselves to the current inhabitants of earth.
