It was 6:30AM and the alarm clock went off like any other morning. A lazy arm reached out from underneath the covers and pressed the snooze button. A groan from a sleepy teenager soon followed as a face soon emerged from the beds comfy sheets. The coyote stared at the fan spinning above him for a bit before finally sitting upright and stretching. Today was a Friday, Summer vacation was no over and today was his first day at school. The coyote climbed out of bed and headed out of his room, then he wandered into the bathroom to take a shower.

He turned the nozzle and water rushed out onto his hand and he pulled it out and shivered. His brother had used all of the warm water again, he would deal with the annoying little brat later, right now he just wanted to get the school day over with. The coyote climbed into the cold shower and thought about his Summer and how short it must have been. After cleaning up he turned the water off and stood in the shower a little bit longer, water dripping off his fur onto the shower floor. He sighed, and then he got out grabbing a towel on his way towards the sink. He tried off his fur and grabbed his toothbrush and got all nice and clean for his first day of school.

The coyote wandered back to his room and opened his closet, he pulled on a shirt and put on some pants and scampered downstairs hoping to find his little brother Max downstairs eating breakfast. He looked around but noticed that his brother had left the front door wide open when he went off to walk to school. That's when he saw the note on the door. He walked over and picked up the note.

"Ayden, me and your father had to go to the office early today. I made you breakfast. Love, Mom." he read. Ayden looked at the counter and noticed some toast covered in strawberry jam. He stuck a piece in his mouth, grabbed his backpack, and walked outside to the bus stop making sure to lock the door behind him.

Ayden walked along the sidewalk listening to the laughter of the neighborhood children giggling and screaming at each other as they to waited for the school bus. He soon spotted the familiar stop sign and walked a little faster. He hasn't been here since June when school had ended.

He sat down and leaned his back against the pole. After an entire Summer of hanging out and sleeping, today didn't look so great in the fun factor. He took a bite of the toast and watched down the street for the yellow bus to pop out over the hill. After about 5 minutes he heard the bus getting closer. He stood up and brushed off his jeans as the yellow shape rose from the blackness of the street.

The bus gave Ayden a sense of home, living the majority of his childhood at school it was familiar to him, like a member of his family and his daily routine. The bus rolled to a stop and the double doors slowly opened as the inside of the bus was now visible. Looking closer Ayden could make out the body of a fox standing at the top of the steps, it's tail wagging back and forth with a bog grin on it's face. Ayden smiled, recognizing his friend Alex. He was wearing a gray hooded T-shirt and a pair of faded blue jeans, he had a green backpack hung over one shoulder.

"Good morning, Ayden!" Alex said, a large grin on his face.

"Good morning, Alex!" Ayden said back walking with Alex down the aisle looking for an empty seat.

"By the way, did you want to-" Alex began.

"Hey Ayden do you want to see a movie tonight?" a lion asked.

Ayden looked back at the lion, it was Alan from his Science class. The lion was very fond of music and almost always had an earbud in one of his ears. "I'm going to have to pass." Ayden said, in a regretful tone.

"You sure?" Alan asked, his smile now faded.

"Yeah, I'm hanging out at Alex's tonight." Ayden replied, feeling guilty for declining Alan's offer.

"Oh, ok..." Alan said, slouching back into his seat. He stared out the window, his smile completely gone.

Ayden sat down on an open bus seat and Alex plopped down next to him. "Since when are you-" Alex started to say.

"I'll be over at 7 o'clock" Ayden cut in. A broad smile appeared on Alex's face as they talked about their Summers.

Later That Day

Ayden was sitting at a desk finishing up some 'Getting To Know You' homework he had gotten from some of his classes. A felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, being the teenager that he was he got his phone out at record time.

Ayden rolled his eyes and closed the conversation while getting in his car. He turned the ignition and back out into the street. While driving he scrolled through his contacts until he found Alex's. He paused for a second before pushing the call button. On the third ring he heard someone pick up.

"Hey Alex!" the fox chimed upon answering the call.

"Reed and Sam want to know if you want to see a movie." Ayden said. He parked his car and opened the car door.

"Oh sure! I'll meet you there!" Alex said happily, the sound of him running around his house was heard in the background.

"Actually I'll be taking you there," Ayden said walking across a houses front lawn. "look outside." He watched as Alex walked next to the window and smiled when he saw Ayden. The fox disappeared for a moment and then Ayden heard the sound of a door opening and closing.

"What's taking you so long Ayden? We'll be late to the movie!" Alex joked running to the car door and hopping in the passengers seat.

"You don't even know what time the movie starts at yet!" Ayden laughed back as he sat back down in the drivers seat and started up the car. "For all you know we aren't even going to a movie!" he added as he began to pull out of the driveway.

"So what's the movie?" Alex asked as he watched the houses fly past them.

"Knowing them, probably some sort of chick flick." he said glancing over at Alex quickly. He thought he saw a look of joy on his face when he mentioned the movie but his face quickly changed to a look of disappointment.

"Oh, well that sucks..." Alex said, still looking out the window.

Ayden figured he was probably lying about not wanting to go see a chick flick. He's seen Alex smiling whenever he flipped the channel to some sort of girly movie at sleepovers. He put it aside and continued to drive on his way to meet up with Reed and Sam.
